A hidden chimac place centrally located on Robson St. The fried chicken was done perfectly and I love their rice cakes and side dishes!
This place was so good! I recommend the hot stone bowl rich sets as it comes with 9 different sides. It's pretty affordable and it'll definitely fill you up. The boneless fried chicken was good too. It was crispy yet still juicy. I would probably recommend getting one of the flavoured fried chicken instead of the original as it was a little plain. The fried sticky rice cake that came with it was yummy although a little plain without sauce (from the chicken)
Came here on a Wednesday evening around 7 and the place was already full. There is a QR code to join the waitlist. I was craving bibimbap, but they didn't have it on the menu, so we ordered the egg fried rice instead. They do have fried chicken bap though, which looked tempting. Their seolleongtang was already well seasoned for my taste, so I didn't need to add any salt or pepper. The portions of both the rice and soup were quite generous, and the flavors were really good. We also ordered a small padak since an entire page of their menu is dedicated to fried chicken. The chicken pieces were big, juicy, and very satisfying. There are few other specialty dishes like bossam that I would like to try as well but I will save that for next time
holy moly. honestly was not expecting Kosoo to be as GREAT as it was. the staff was super friendly, environment very welcoming, an the food fresh and delicious. the dirty fries caught us completely by surprise as they were delicious. also worth mentioning that the coke zero being so delicious with significantly less ingredients as an American was a great first start of our trip lol. definitely give this place a try!
The honey butter chicken was soooo good!! I loved the different textures in the dish like the crunchy chips, chewy rice cakes and crispy chicken! Highly recommend!
Nice spot for korean food, service was prompt and friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. Menu pricings are decent and the portion size is good as well! Only tried the Galbijjin this time around, it was spot on flavour wise. More than enough to feet two people and came with plenty of sides!
Service was fast and friendly. The side dishes were yummy and they are attentive if you want refills. We ordered the yangnyeom boneless (half size) and the sauce was too sweet for my liking, but the rice cakes were soooo good. Just the right chewy texture on the inside and crispy on the outside. We also got the spicy jokbal and it was indeed spicy but so delicious. The meat was tender and the veggies in the dish add the right amount of crunch to pair with that. Two dishes were more than enough for two people.
We went upstairs and sat near the window so we had a view of Robson. The dumplings and mushroom bulgogi we ordered were fine. Banchan were 3 dishes, which was quite odd as I normally get at least 5 dishes at other restaurants & other people seemed to be given many more as well, from the pictures they've posted. Loud atmosphere as music played while customers chatted.
Last night in Canada and decided to go to a Korean restaurant. We looked at reviews and came in. The service here is okay. We orders and they just dropped off the food and never came back. Wish the service was better, like say, how is everything or is there anything else. The chicken was decent. My Wang galbi tang soup was good. Wish there was more noodles. Othet than that, I would go back to this place. The music was awesome, love the k pop music and they do play other music. I would recommend this place.
My girlfriend was craving Korean food while we were in Vancouver, and since this spot was just a short walk from our hotel, we decided to check it out. As soon as you head up the stairs, you are greeted by friendly staff and a clean, cozy dining space. The menu is straightforward with plenty of great options. For appetizers, we ordered the Mandu, which are Korean style dumpling filled with pork and mixed vegetables, which were delicious. For entrees, I went with the Soy Garlic Chibap, which is boneless fried chicken tossed in soy garlic sauce over rice. My girlfriend ordered the Kimchijjigae, a spicy kimchi stew with pork served with rice. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh and comforting, and the prices were surprisingly affordable for how much food we got. We left full and happy. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!
The beef hotpot has very delicious broth, very beefy. I love that it has various veggies and mushroom. We are a table of three, so the seafood pancake and the hotpot is the perfect quality. The seafood pancake felt very thick with flours, I had much better seafood pancakes at other places. Overall, good food and especially with hotpot style, it's fun to share on a cloudy day.
Satisfy your Korean fried chicken cravings here. Their downtown Robson street location is where you can pick from 9+ different flavours of chicken that can be boneless, bone in or oven baked. You get either get them full size or half size. We tried the following: - Supreme Full Size Boneless Chicken $37 ( cream sauce with yangneyeom) - Mayack Full Size Boneless Chicken $37 (seasoned cheese powder w/ yogurt sauce) - Bullak Geongol Hotpot $57 (marinated beef, octopus, potato, cabbage, glass noodle & more) - Spicy Chicken Feet $25 The portions for the full size chicken is huge! The chicken was crispy and flavourful. They came with potatoes and rice cakes. It was more than enough for three people. The hot pot was loaded & very comforting. The chicken was quite spicy but tasty! It does get a bit pricey so come with a group to share!
Service was great!!! The spicy garlic chicken was 20% off plus free fries it was spicy loved it hehe. Honey butter chicken was sweet! The soybean soup was delicioussss Loved the bean sprouts banchan they asked if we needed a refill for the radish as well Spent around 60$ for a lot of food super cheap for Robson street nice place to drink as well it wasn't very loud

Service was pretty fast and the restaurant filled up pretty fast during lunchtime. Was there at about 11:30am n luckily, didn't hv to queue yet. read more

In my opinion. I really like this place. staff are super friendly and very attentive. The place is super clean and a very cool vibe to it. They are fair priced to every other Korean place Food is good and fresh Bossam - fresh and not dry. It's hard to find a place that the bossam isn't dry. But this was good, and not gamy. Soy bean soup - it was very good. Not to salty Fried chicken was juicy and crispy. Sauce made it so Good, that we couldn't stop eating it. I will come again read more

We came in for an early dinner and luckily didn't have to wait for a table. They don't have a lot of banchans, but the kimchi was well received. We ordered a lot of food for the six of us. We started off with the ox knee soup, which ended up being my favorite as I like tendon. We also had fried chicken (original & yangnyeom), jokbal, bossam, and LA galbi BBQ. Of the meats, I enjoyed the tender pieces of jokbal (pig trotters) the most. If you're looking for good Korean food, look no further! read more
A 3.5 star hidden gem for Korean fried chicken. You have to go up a long flight of stair. Wait staff was nice but too busy to return to check on you. If you're not there by 6 PM, expect a long wait. Tables have that greasy, well oiled feeling. I watched as a table cleared and the staff just wiped it with a rag without spraying anything to clean the surface, smearing whatever food and grease left by prior diners. My clothes and hair smelled like bbq after dinner because a table close by was doing the bbq dinner. Our wait staff didn't bother to thank us as we left. You're just another number in the world of impersonal hospitality. The food is very good. We ordered 3 dishes. Original boneless fried chicken. I could eat a ton of it. Generous serving size for small, $18. Crispy crust and moist center. Way better than Jollibee's nearby. The beef came with rice and that was delicious. The chive pancake was crispy and delicious too. The meal came with 4 ban Chan dishes. Two were too spicy : Kim chee and turnip but the bean sprouts and sweet marinated daikon were good. Would return for the good but not pleased with the service as much. read more
Authentic Korean Experience and Hidden Gem in Downtown Vancouver We came on a Thursday night and it was quite packed - make a reservation in advance on a weekend! What we got: Classic Boneless Fried Chicken: 5/5 Beef & Mushroom Hot Pot: 4.5/5 (a bit pricey) Rice Cakes: 3.5/5 Some notes: - Servers were not the most welcoming - Restaurant does not offer tea But, overall a great culinary experience! Coming back for their fried chicken sometime read more
A bit of a wait (you have to scan their QR code to get onto the waitlist) but luckily there's the Candy Room nearby and some benches to pass the time! We were seated about 45 mins after. We ordered the pork belly BBQ and the dakbal. Both were delicious and the portion size was more than enough for 2! The dakbal was spicy but we kept going back for more. The staff were super friendly and didn't seem too frazzled even though the restaurant was insanely busy. Will definitely be back but will be more prepared for the wait. read more
kosoo is such a solid spot if you're in downtown vancouver and looking for some yummy korean fried chicken or bossam/jokbal. i came in at around 7:00pm on thursday night, and it was super packed, so i added myself to their online waitlist and walked around nearby until it was my party's turn to be seated (~20 min wait). kosoo has a pretty modern and clean aesthetic with some nice plastic dividers to make sure people don't infect each other with covid. (very cool! the usa could maybe take some notes...) it's pretty loud, and most tables have beer or soju to go along with their food. ok food review time! s-tier: banchan (side dishes): i know you don't order banchan as its own dish, but i wanted to rank it separately because kosoo's banchan was just so good! the kimchi especially was super fresh! a-tier: half-half jokbal/bossam (half braised pig feet, half steamed pork belly): these were both cooked well and very tender. however, we actually had to order the ssam, or lettuce wrap separately, which kind of threw me off. honey butter fried boneless chicken: very solid and comes with some tteok (rice cake) and honey butter chips as well. however, it was a tiny bit too sweet for my preference. b-tier: chapssal dak-gangjeong (sweet and spicy boneless fried chicken): this one honestly wasn't spicy at all and was just really sweet. also comes with some tteok. (i've def had better!) overall, kosoo is a solid spot for getting your korean fix, and if in the area, it's worth a try! :) read more

If I could give this place a 10 out of five stars I would! Living in LA has definitely raised my standards for Korean food and I've been craving Korean food for the longest time since moving to PNW. I haven't been able to find great Korean food in the Pacific Northwest but this place blew me away. This is by far my absolute favorite Korean place in the Pacific Northwest. It made my entire weekend! I got here at around 5 PM on a Friday and was able to get seated immediately. Just a note to everyone, they have a two hour time limit. The staff was super friendly and they were able to take our order really quickly and the food also arrived swiftly. We ordered the kimchi pancake with cheese on top and the mushroom Bulgogi that came with a side of rice. The highlight of the meal was definitely the recipe and sweet boneless fried chicken. It the perfect amount of spice and crispiness. This will be my go to spot whenever I'm in Vancouver. I would definitely recommend this to all my friends and family. The place is pretty clean and they had some really good music playing. Overall the place had a great vibe and is the perfect post work / evening hangout spot with friends or family. read more

My girlfriend and I came here to try out the Korean Chicken in Downtown Vancouver! The resturant is located on the second floor and there were lots of space for seating. Food: We tried the half and half boneless fried chicken so we went for the original ($17 CAD) and the supreme ($19 CAD), we got the Jokball & Bossam half and half which was $38 CAD, anf of course it was kinda cold out in Vancouver so we went for the Doenjang Jjigae ($18 CAD). Everything came around the same time and it was all really good! The original chicken was super cripsy that came with rice cakes and potatos. The Supreme was very creamy so not as crispy was packs a lot of flavors. The Jokball & Bossam was really good especially with the sauce that they give us. The Doenjang Jjigae was perfect noodle soup for a cold day. Service: I did notice there was not a lot of waiter/waitress walking around so we waited a bit until someone came by, but the service was good and straighforward overall. Overall: Great place for korean bbq or for the chicken! Check it out if your craving for some chicken and alochol. read more

Kosoo was a good yummy place to stop by while shopping. I liked the butter honey chicken however I don't think I would ever come back for it again. The service was honestly pretty weak and we had to ask the waitress to come multiple times even though the restaurant was not busy. Overall Kosoo was good and if you are wanting Korean BBQ in downtown it's definitely an option! read more

Great dinner/late night spot! Sleek and modern interiors perfect for groups of friends. Was a big fan of the fried chicken. The yangnyeom was saucy and sticky with sweet and spicy flavours. The soy garlic was mild in comparison to the yangneom. The chicken was super tender and juicy. They also did a great job with breading. Came with rice cakes and potatoes in the dish. LA galbi was tender and flavourful. Came with lettuce wraps and kimchi. Also came with a soup. This was more than enough food for 5 people. read more
After going to the christmas market by Canada place, my friends and I came to Kosoo to eat a little more. We arrived at 9:20 and were told that we needed to wait 25 mins. Since it was so cold outside, we decided to wait for a table. I was surprised that there were so many people at such a late hour on a weekday night. We ordered the bossam and oxtail soup. I thought the oxtail soup really hit the spot with it being super cold outside. The portion was large so we were able to each have a full bowl of soup. The bossam was not as good as I would have expected. It wasn't too flavored and the non-fatty parts tasted a little bland to me. The portion size was massive, though. If I were to come back, I would definitely try other items. Seemed like the restaurant had an extensive menu! read more

I love coming here when I'm downtown. I always get the half size of bonesless chicekn (it is a good serving size still) in yangnyeom or soy garlic as well as the soybean soup! Flavours are great and very comforting and prcies are resonable! Highly recommend! #ContestEntry read more

(3.5/5) Came here with a friend for dinner tonight and we had to wait ~20 mins. I don't think they take reservations for Saturdays cause I've tried booking a table beforehand. Food came fast. We got a full size of the Chapssal Dak-Gangjeong (sweet+spicy) boneless chicken ($30). It wasn't spicy at all; it reminded me of sweet and sour pork. I like how they include rice cakes and potatoes in the order. Big portion but each piece had more batter (there wasn't so much meat). We also shared a peach soju ($16+10% alcohol tax). read more
Please do yourself a favour and get this truffle cream tteokbokki. Truly amazing. The truffle flavour is NOT slacking wow it hits you in the face. Filled with so much tteok (rice cake) and also has fish cakes. I just wish there was vegetables like onion, mushrooms? And maybe something green for balance. Other than that, it's such a good dish. Ambiance is like a Korean pocha but cleaner! We saw a lot of people in bigger groups. read more

Their fried chicken has always been a go-to for whenever I'm in Vancouver, but I also had the chance to try their Bossam today as well! Tender and fatty - the Bossam came paired with an assortment of condiments and sauces as well. It was even more of a treat because it was a buy one get one free deal on UberEats! (Saved quite a bit since Bossam can usually be quite hefty in price). If you're looking for some delicious Korean food, Kosoo is a must try! read more

We came here on Monday, but found out they were closed, so we decided to come the next day for dinner. We ordered a bunch of different dishes from the menu to try out their food selection. We ordered a half portion of the boneless Honey Butter Fried Chicken, the Kimchi Pancake, the Spicy Chicken Feet, and the Beef Short Rib Soup. Based on how popular their fried chicken was from positive customer ratings, I had high expectations for the dish. The honey butter chicken was not my favourite, to say the least. The potatoes were rock hard, and the fried batter was too dense. I also found that there was way too much honey flavour and not enough of butter flavour. For the price, the portions were pretty good. I however, enjoyed the kimchi pancake. It was light and crispy and the portion was huge. As for the chicken feet, it was probably the biggest disappointment. I expected a saucy and thick sauce but they merely had what seemed to be boiled chicken feet in a bland but spicy broth. It lacked flavour and was too one dimensional. The short rib soup was the highlight of our meal. For $20, you get rice with a bowl of mild hearty soup. They add in a hefty beef bone that is just loaded with meat. The meat was so tender and flavourful. I highly recommend ordering this. As with other Korean restaurants, they offer banchan/side dishes. The kimchi radish, pickled radish, and soybean sprouts were good. The kimchi was oddly sweet and sour. I didn't enjoy that. Servers here were pretty nice food came out very fast. Overall, the food could be improved and I'll probably try the original KFC next time. read more
We went on a Saturday evening and didn't have to wait for a party of 3 people. We order the pork feet and bossam set and the mushroom bulgogi hotpot. The pork feet was pretty spicy since we don't have good spice tolerance but it was really tasty. The bossam was alright, I think I liked the flavor and the texture of the pork feet more since it was softer and more flavorful. The hotpot was my favorite part of the food we ordered. The broth was light but had a lot of flavor. I added some rice into a bowl of broth and it was delicious. The meat and the mushrooms were also pretty good. We definitely got too much for a group of 3 people though so I think this would have been better for a group of four or maybe just get the hotpot for the group of 3 and something else. The price was really good for the amount of food we received. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place if you're craving Korean food. read more

Wow! I was originally a little bit skeptical of this place, but I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. The service was really friendly and attentive, and the food was great! I loved the kimchi fried rice, and the chicken was great! Will definitely come back read more
The new location is tucked away on the second floor which can be accessed from the first floor stairs. Despite it's hidden away store front, the restaurant is is very spacious and has lots of seating. My friend and I ordered a SELLEONG- TANG and half an ordered of CHAPSSAL DAK-GANGJEONG fried chicken. The Selleong Tang was perfect for the cold weather. The beef broth was very flavourful and the perfect milky bone broth consistency. It was accompanied with some sweet potato noodles and a variety of mushrooms. I was pleasantly surprised by the rice! It was made with Korean rice which is a little more glutinous and sticky. Because the rice is served in a hot bowl, they bring you a thermos of hot water to make scorched rice porridge. The Chapssal Dak-Gangjeong (sweet and spicy) friend chicken was also very delicious. The outer layout of the chicken was fried to perfection! It was super crispy while the inside was super juicy. The chicken was also very well coated with flavour and very delicious. If you enjoy sweet and spicy flavours, I recommend this option or the Yangnyeom fried chicken read more

In a word...YUMMY! We had the soy/garlic chicken and the mushroom bulgoggi. It was really good! This place is well known and fills up fast so plan accordingly. We went for dinner and lined up behind 7 or 8 other folks about 4:50 PM. They opened promptly at 5 and we were seated immediately. The staff is hustling but takes time to smile and offer suggestions. These folks have a GREAT chicken game and you won't be disappointed. The side dishes and kimchi were all crisp and fresh, too. read more
Came here on the last day of our snowboarding trip since we had to stay overnight in Vancouver. I had expected there to be a wait after reading the previous reviews but surprisingly, we were seated right away at 7pm on a Saturday night. I wanted to try the bossom cause they don't have it in the Korean restaurants back in Austin as well as the Korean fried chicken cause it just looks amazing. We ordered three dishes for the table and almost ran out of room. Food came out pretty quickly which was great cause we're starving after a bus ride in from whistler. I have to agree with the previous reviews that it was the most amazing Korean fried chicken ever!! The rice cakes and potatoes tossed in with the chicken was a great addition that I haven't had anywhere else. The bossom was delicious as well and I even got to try some of my friends short rib stew. We also split a bottle of soju over dinner cause that's what you gotta do when you have Korean food. Even though our own food was amazing, we couldn't stop looking at other tables and their food. Everything looked absolutely delicious!!! We'll definitely be back next time we're in Vancouver. I can only dream about their Korean fried chicken now. read more
z this is so good! Beef Tartare I've had this raw beef bibimbap before. The pear strips and nori are the highlight!! Beef Taco The crust is not like those typical crispy corn chips, but instead soft and tender texture like crepes. Crepe wrapped juicy bulgogi, imagine the taste LA Galbi Deopbap- Stir Fried Kimchi Pork Belly First time trying "Deopbap", it's like a Korean style of "Donbhri"Stir fried vegetables over rice. Naengmyeon Soy Garlic Fried Chicken Kimchi Jjigae Everything is good, but the store is always busy and there is only one server every time I visit. The service is friendly but not attentive. Overall I will come again!! Kosoo Cardero 832 Cardero St, Vancouver, BC read more
This was our first time dinning at the actual restaurant although we had ordered take out a couple of times prior. Each time the fried chicken was perfect! They have a wide variety of flavors of bone-in or boneless fried chicken to fit your personal taste preferences. Since we were able to dine in this time, we also tried the mushroom bulgogi hot pot. It was so yummy with very a very generous portion of meat. I would definitely be coming back! read more

We ordered takeout of their ox bone soup with beef brisket, and 1/2 size of honey butter fried chicken, soy garlic, and chapssal dak-gangjeong. The ox bone soup itself is major delicious, but I found the beef briskets to be just a tad too chewy than tender. The portions of their fried chicken is very generous and our favourite was the honey butter and chapssal dak-gangjeong. I think the soy garlic would be great on its own, but I think by ordering all 3 I think that the honey butter and chapssal dak-gangeong over powered the flavor of the soy garlic, which is more on the subtle side. The fried chicken are come with rice cakes which is nice! read more

Up a flight of stairs on Robson St. You scan a QR code to place your name on a wait list. We waited outside and got a text when it was ready. We were seated in about 15 minutes at around 8:30pm on a Monday night. We scanned a QR code on the table for a menu also. Not sure what happens if you don't have a phone. After ordering, the food came fairly quickly. Presentation was nice with the rice pot and metal bowls. After the delivery of our food, service slowed. I didn't get any check-ins from the staff. We had to waive the servers down for water and the check. Food was delicious though, which keeps my rating still high. Good find in my opinion. read more
Kosoo Korean Restaurant recently opened a new location on Robson St, closer to Vancouver City Centre. Instead of focusing on Korean-French cooking, they have shifted to classic Korean food with "seoul." They have amazing soups and my favourite was the Wang Galbi (): premium short rib soup. The depth of beef flavour that came from just a single spoon of soup was out of this world. The colour of the soup was darker and richer than ones I have eaten in Vancouver. Also, the beef rib meat was fall-off-the-bone tender! They are known for their korean fried chicken and I highly recommend the honey butter one! It consist of boneless fried chicken, ugly mini potato, rice cake with honey butter sauce. This reminded me of the honey butter almonds from Tom's Farm and I really loved the crispy and sticky homemade chips drenched with honey butter sauce. Also, the fried rice cakes were a great touch! They have an irresistible light crispiness and along with the chewiness of the deok.... so good !! A Korean classic is the Yangneyom chicken (). Drenched in a sweet and spicy chilli sauce, this classic yangneyom chicken was a great sharing dish amongst at least 3-4 people. This saucy fried chicken came with sweet corn and a crunchy small crabs The hot pots are also unique because they have bulgogi and octopus! The beef broth used in their hot pot is very rich with beef flavour and I love how the glass noodles and vegetables soak up that deliciousness. I would go back for the honey butter fried chicken, soups and hot pots! The prices are steeper than your average homey Korean restaurant but you can see that they use quality ingredients and cooking techniques that require longer behind the scenes cooking time read more
