I was severely disappointed with my experience. I was a walk in and asked for their "house manitini" ($20) the technician had no idea what I was talking about until another one stated it was a manicure. I had gel nails on, so I had them removed ($5 fee) and then got my nails trimmed and reshaped. I don't mind the shape of my nails, but the polish application however was disappointing. I should have waited to pay, but my technician asked if I could pay before I painted my nails (did it look like I was not going to pay, or is this standard for people who got a regular polish?) I complied. Paid and tipped her (the regular 20% standard) Even though I didn't get gel nails (I felt like my nails needed a break from them) I wished I was taken care of more like customers who got gel or sns nails. I mean, while doing my nails, my technician answered her phone twice (I guess it's not a major thing and she did not stay on the call for long). When my nails were completed, she said to wait 10 or 15 minutes for them to dry and left. I sat there looking at my nails and seeing the bubbles and unevenness debating whether or not to ask her to fix them, she moved on to the next customer (there were other technicians who could've taken that customer) anyway she saw me sitting there for a while came back to check on my nails and applied oil and asked if they weren't dried yet. I said looks like there are so bubbles so I am just waiting. Then she left again. After 5 or so minutes I decided I would just write it off and leave. No goodbyes or acknowledgement from anyone when I left. I will not return here. read more

ABSOLUTELY the very best nail salon I have ever visited. I really enjoy getting my nails done, but as someone with anxiety, I'm perhaps extra sensitive to feeling at all judged, or like I'm causing a technician more work than he/she anticipated. I'm very aware, and as a result, even my really great experiences have involved some level of worry I have kind of brushed off as my oversensitivity and I am CERTAIN in most of my better experiences, that's the case. So what makes Kosmo really, really stand out isn't just the spectacular mani-pedi. And it WAS spectacular, mind you. So if you're looking for a place that doesn't disappoint, this is where to head. But what really made my technician, (Jolie, I believe!) stand out, was how 100% non-judgmental, easy-going, and friendly she was. Really, honestly, the atmosphere and the whole staff was this way. I am about to move to Edinburgh, Scotland to pursue my graduate degree and wanted a nice nail 'do' before I went. So I came in a week before my scheduled departure to try to get an appointment closer to the date I was leaving. The receptionist at that time was absolutely fantastic. He listened to what I wanted (mani-pedi, with a manicure involving nail extension + dip powder and maybe nail art, depending on the day) and suggested a date/time. He was smiling, and seemed 100% happy to accommodate me. He made me feel like Kosmo wasn't just accepting my business, they WANTED it. Jolie was agreeable and kind and thoughtful. Her default was to try to use my natural nails and avoid cutting them all, but when we tried it and I decided I wanted some length anyway, she was just as happy to apply tips to all 10 fingers. There wasn't even the tiniest shade of being disappointed in my choice. What mattered to her was that I got what I wanted, as I wanted it, and walked out feeling no less than perfectly satisfied. She had NO ego, but PLENTY of expertise she was willing to share and suggest whenever I asked. It helped me know what I could ask for, what would cost more, and in the end, while this sort of manipedi definitely isn't cheap, when you get that attention to detail and care, every penny in the price is worth it. 10/10 would recommend this place to friends. If you're in the McLean area, heck, even if you aren't, THIS is a nail salon worth checking out!!! read more

Very disappointed. I booked a Gel Manitini for $42 (before tip). Cuticles still look uncut. They got the gel on the cuticles which will make it peel in a couple days. THERE IS NO DISCOUNT FOR NEW CUSTOMERS The interior is nice -- clean and modern. The regular nail polish all seemed old - no recent OPI colors even and many bottles hard to open. I ended up with a color I didn't like and the nail tech (she didn't introduce herself so I don't know her name) was patient with changing it.* But the pedicure was bare minimum (cold water, short massage, no scrub, no paraffin, no hot stones, nothing to drink -- all things other salons seem to do with their basic pedicures especially if the upcharge for them). Also she washed off the lotion after putting it on which I found bizarre. Overall, $47 for a pedicure (35) and polish change (12) was way too much especially given the quality. *This would be a two star review but the nail tech was super patient with the polish change which I appreciated. P.s. I still hate the color but now have no pedicure budget/time to fix it. First world problems, I tell you what. read more

I went to see Kelly today based on other reviews and I was not disappointed!! She was really wonderful, very gentle and professional! I have really long natural nails and she was very careful not to chip, break or even over-file my nails. I showed her and inspiration photo and she did a fantastic job bringing it to life! I went in looking to get an SNS with extensions manicure and after reading all of the reviews on Yelp and google thought I had found a great spot. This was a disaster. I wanted stiletto nails and was willing to pay extra for the time and effort that comes along with them. Instead I left with nails that were uneven, misshapen and crooked. After telling my manicurist exactly what I wanted multiple times she not only did not do what I asked but needed to bring over another tech to try and salvage things.
