This tofu house is the second one in the Avenue. We pick this location due newer restaurants and is on the Ave. The time we arrive around 5:30 was empty. Then the place fill 50 percent at one hour. We start with the korean app. Those are unlimited. I got the mixed tofu soup that has beef and seafood. It is good. The Galbi combo was good also. They do give a good amount of meat. My with have the stone bowl bibimbap. I think those are ok. Overall the food is good and the service is good too. Wait is just a little for the food. read more

Pretty decent Korean place for a quick meal. I was in town for a quick trip and stopped in here for dinner. This is a fairly casual spot and you order at counter and then find a seat and wait for the food to come. I ordered a seafood tofu soup as it was cool outside, the beginnings of fall and I had been traveling for awhile and I always like a nice hot warm soup on a cold day to warm everything up inside and out. I also had a Taiwan beer, which I dont see often, so gave it a go. It was a fairly large size, so I didn't finish all of it. It was odd that the woman working the register couldn't serve me the beer and other woman had to come serve it to me. I later asked the lady who couldn't serve me as to why and she said something about a law changing and she needed a license to serve me beer and she didn't have one. I didn't quite understand but ok, whatever. The banchan came first and I enjoyed most of them. The kimchi was a lot spicier than I like and also their small pajeon cubes were super spicy too. Everything else tasted great. My seafood tofu soup came out quickly and it was decent, probably not the best I have ever had but for a college town and for this place being very fast casual, it got the job done. Came here on a weekend and was able to get seated right away. I ordered a combo that came with bulgogi and a tofu soup. The bulgogi was very good and I enjoyed eating this with some of the kimchi from banchan. I got to choose any of the tofu soup options to go with my combo. I ordered the pork dumpling tofu soup and thought it was very good. The banchan as a whole was good, I liked each separate dish a lot. I also ordered the japchae with bulgogi. Great spot for Korean food! The setting is fairly casual but clean, and food is tasty. The prices are very reasonable too, especially if you order off the express menu! I got the spicy pork kimbap, and bibimbap with beef. I really liked the kimbap, and the spicy pork had a kick but wasn't too spicy. And I liked how the bibimbap came with all the side dishes! We came just for the kimbap. We heard that it was good because it was freshly made. The place looks like a you order at the counter but if you're eating in then you just sit down and they serve you. We ordered the shrimp and tuna mayo kimbap. It was indeed freshly made and I was excited about that. Both had good flavor but the rice was too wet and gave it a mushy flavor. We got the spicy pork and Hotpot bulgogi. The spicy pork was a little spicy but still very delicious. If you can't eat spicy, I'd suggest to ask them to lower the spice level. The hotpot bulgogi comes with starch noodles, rice cake, green onion, onion, carrot, and the purple rice. Pretty much all dishes serves with the purple rice and side dishes. Located in University District, a Korean Tofu House Express doesn't have its own parking lot and street parking in Udistrict can be chaotic! I went with a group of 4 friends on a Friday afternoon and we were seated immediately. When you walk in, you'll notice that the restaurant itself is clean and simple. They have plenty of tables available to sit at and you pay at the counter before leaving. Our server was very nice and was quick to provide us with recommendations on the menu. I also loved that we got banchan as well! I ended up getting the spicy beef tofu soup and it was the perfect amount of spice and saltiness. Manager yelled at us when we politely asked if we could have the other 2 items we ordered (we'd ordered 4 triangles and 1 kimbap, but after 20 minutes had only received the kimbap and 2 triangles). She stormed over to our table, pointed to the wrapper of the 1 triangle my friend had eaten while we were waiting for the others to arrive, and said we were lying, that we already ate the other 2 and were just trying to scam her. Kept yelling at us as I tried to explain we were just trying to get the other 2 items we ordered, so that we could pay and get going. Glared at us and said nothing after we paid. The hostess was very friendly and we got our order within 10 minutes. There were many UW students and comfortable open seating. The food was super hot, fresh and delicious! We were in the area so we decided to check This place out. It is a sister store of the original and it looks very clean and there's an express station where it looks like chipotle style. They are also new, so I don't think they have everything on the menu. We were in a rush and so we ordered takeout so I. Pretty sure dine in would have been a lot better but it was still pretty good. We got the spicy squid and pork combo with beef soondubu. It also came with some rice and a few banchans. For the price ($21.49), it was pretty good. It was flavorful and tasty. I actually wish they gave us more rice because everything had a lot of flavor that I wanted the rice to absorb everything. Service was good for takeout, they were really nice and there was a takeout station that you can grab hour utensils, napkins, etc. Overall, I would definitely come back, they have kimbap and cupbop and a nice variety of street foods. The restaurant provides a great ambiance with good music and great atmosphere. The combination of how they arranged the restaurant provides a great place to enjoy a meal and talk with friends. There are plenty of seating and I enjoyed how well kept the place is. The service was above decent. Server took our order and addressed our needs. The chef though... not so great. I ordered chicken katsu and they did not cut my chicken. I have never gone to a place where your katsu WASNT cut. Although my katsu wasn't cut, it was still pretty good. I had a good amount of chicken and the fried batter wasn't overwhelming. Their side dishes were so good; definitely one of the best Korean side dishes I've had. It used to be one of my favorite Korean places. Now Deteriorating taste, nearly no service. This store is getting by worse a lot lately.

I know not to get the soondobu here from their original location (ironic, given their namesake), but we had some pretty good luck trying some of their other dishes! My partner got the chicken katsu, which is hilarious, I know, but it was genuinely solid, and VERY generously portioned. You do have to temper your expectations that Korean katsu is NOT the Japanese version, and has its own quirks. I got the Osam Bulgogi. Not because I expected it to blow me away here (it is my favorite dish after all), but purely out of curiosity. While it was definitely not true to my expectations, it was still delicious and satisfied my craving for something spicy and stir-fried! Banchan is nothing to write home about here, but the kimchi was more on the fresh (vs. sour/fermented) side, which is my preference. I'll definitely be back for some quick, casual meals! read more

The soondubu tasted literally like water, the bulgogi was also super watery, and the steamed egg was very dry and not fragrant at all. I walked past Korean tofu express and decided on a whim to try it and I'm glad I did! I ended up placing an online order to pick up after some nearby shopping and it was a good decision. They expected ~20 min wait but my order was ready sooner, and the woman worker was extremely friendly and efficient getting me my food. The restaurant was slightly crowded for a Thursday but if I was not getting take out, I would have had no issues finding a table. I was surprised by how much food I was given for the price! In addition, it all tasted good. The tofu soup was packaged great with no leakage, and the tofu, dumplings, and all the meat were a great texture, and that plus the broth were very flavorful. I ordered spicy, and the broth had a nice kick but wasn't too hot to handle, which was great. All the sides were also delicious. Overall I'd recommend for a warm meal that is satisfying! read more

When this place opened on the Ave, I was pretty intrigued by the concept of KTH but 'Express'. After a visit or two, I've concluded that I still prefer the KTH part over the Express part. I don't usually grab and go meals and prefer to sit down outside or make something at home, but for friends who are on the run and want something filling and quick, their options are great. Notably, the Kimbap (which I didn't get a photo of) is a great deal and would last me quite awhile eating alone. It's worth noting that there MUST be a greater or equal number of entrees ordered as people in your party. I tried to share a dish and was turned down for this reason. I love Korean soups -- their Budae Jiggae (Hot Pot Army Stew) was delicious and savory, and came with plenty of banchan. The Bibimbap tasted fresh and also had super quick service due to it being from the express lane. Overall great spot to be at, just am kind of annoyed at the weird entree count policy. If I could give this place 6 stars I would! Korean Tofu House (KTH as my friends and I call it) has been my absolute favorite Korean restaurant in U-District for the past six years. So when I found out that Korean Tofu House Express was a second location of the original KTH, I knew I had to go (note that they are still keeping the original KTH on 42nd as well)! My friend and I came here for dinner tonight during their grand opening which lasts throughout this month (so until February 28th). During this time they give you an automatic discount of 20% OFF EVERYTHING!!! Yes you read that right and you better be running- not walking- there rn! The menu has the same classic items as the OG location with a few dishes like kimchi dishes and donkatsu. I ordered my usual Hot Pot (Stone Pot) Beef Bibimbap and my friend ordered the Donkatsu (Tonkatsu). They also gave us free samples of their Korean Fried Chicken and of course their complementary assorted banchan including fried fish strips, honey potatoes, kimchi, bean sprouts, and green onion pancake. Service was quick and they came by multiple time slot see if we were ready to order. We got our food within 10 minutes. My bibimbap was sizzling hot and you could hear the crackling. It came with an abundance of vegetables and a good portion of beef as well as a thick layer of purple rice (my favorite!). It was just as amazing as the bibimbap at their OG location. My friends donkatsu was HUGE as well and super tender. It came with a side of cabbage salad, rice, daikon, and of course gravy to pour over the donkatsu. We definitely feasted well tonight! The servers were very friendly and attentive. The new and distinctive feature that separates the new express location from their original location (besides the modern interior design) is that they have a build your own bibimbap, cupbap, or kimbap station where you can pick what you want and they make it for you on the spot! (Think Chipotle or Sizzle and Crunch style)!! This is something I hope to try sometime this month because I will for sure be coming back again!! While the location is less cramp than the OG, the tables are still very close together and I think the largest table seats 6 people; most seat 4 people. This is a solid Korean soondooboo house and hits the spot for me as a Korean American myself. I ordered the beef soft tofu soup 5 star spicy and it was perfect. It wasn't as spicy as I feared it could be but I'm glad I didn't order any less spice. The soup has a rich beef broth base and wasn't too watery. I love that they serve purple rice and give you an egg to crack into the soup on the side. Lately, eggs have been extra charge since there's a shortage so it felt like I can't take it for granted anymore! This was on the cheaper end of dinners I've had and I was very satisfied as you can see my photo. :) I knock off a star because the banchan aka side dishes was ok. The fish cakes and potato were too sweet and the bean sprouts were too salty. The green pancakes were dry. You definitely need to eat with rice to balance it out so it wasn't a big deal. It's not bad but it's not the best. But for what it's worth and if you're a student craving Korean, I'd still come back. The most impressive part is the cleanliness and large open space. It's a major upgrade from the OG korean tofu house and their soft tofu soup is just as good if not better. The owners are very kind and the workers are chill! UW is always evolving to have better restaurants for their students so I'm glad they have a good location for anyone to come and try it. read more

Short ribs wasn't cooked thoroughly, pale in color & sliced a lot thicker than traditional Korean short ribs, wasn't sizzling ( though it was placed in a cast iron), twas quite cold instead of really hot, rice used to be sticky & purple but was served with a white one & not sticky as it used to be, without asking my preference. My bulgogi Kimbap was $7.50 and my husbands BYO Bibimbap packed protein and was extremely flavorful & filling for less than $14.
