Horrible customer service, rude and disrespectful!!!!! Food is cold and in such small portions. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!! My boyfriend and I went over for a date night out and arrived at the restraunt around 9:15PM (this place closes at 10PM). When the young waiteress took our order, I asked for some sushi but was told by the older asian guy that "sushi is closed now". So, without complaint I ordered some Bibimbap and my boyfriend ordered Beef bulgogi. We got our food right away. My food was all cold. And my boyfriend's bulgogi platter barely had any meat. (I have ate out at Korean restraunts over 100 times so I know how much meat is suppose to be served along with all the side dishes). Then waiteress gave us only one side dish of kimchi. I asked her where the other side dishes are and she replied "oh we only have purple cabbage and few other ones but we are out now". Again, I didn't complain. Once the food was all settled on our table, waiteress came back right away asking us to pay before we eat because "they were going to close their register". Keep in mind it's only about 9:35PM. At this point, I was frustrated with their rude service and the way they kept talking to us despite us being very calm and nice. So I paid but I didn't tip. We finished our cold/small portion meal. We went to our car and this older asian lady in her early 40s came to the main entrance door screaming as we were getting in our car and doing a "X" out movement with her arms to us. My boyfriend got out to ask her "what happen". She shut the door on my boyfriend's face. So, my boyfriend knocked on the door to ask her "what did you say". She opens the door and yells "I will call the cops". By this point I am also out the car listening so I questioned her "what are you saying" and she goes "WHY YOU NO TIP". I was shocked! How in the world can someone yell and scream over not being tipped for their horrible service??? This just shows how greedy and rude they are. I clearly told her that I always tip at restraunts because I get good service. But I didn't tip her because of her cold food and no side dishes. And now I will never go back to this place. For $10.50 I would have expected more than plainly cooked chicken and plain white rice. The chicken was grilled, a thin piece of chicken breast, and the rice only had pepper sprinkled on it. This was the type of meals I would cook in college when I had no recipes or money to work with. Where is the sesame? Soy? Hot pepper paste? There were no Korean food staples in this entire meal. the restaurant should be renamed to "plain chicken and rice house" because that is all it is. Just as everyone else is saying, do not waste your time at this restaurant. Me and 7 other friends went for a birthday lunch. Most of us ordered the lunch special, but one of my friends is a vegan so she asked for the salad. The owner told her that because she was in a big group, he would "allow it" but that she would never be able to order only a salad again. Seriously? If you don't want people ordering a salad, THEN DON'T PUT IT ON YOUR MENU. I then tried to order a sushi roll, to which he rudely responded that they are "only served for dinner" yet that was not mentioned anywhere on the menu. The birthday girl asked if they had boba tea, since she had tried this at another Korean restaurant and really enjoyed it. He responded by saying "You are at a Korean restaurant. We only serve authentic Korean food." Interesting, because they have sushi on the menu and I'm pretty sure that isn't Korean. And how was she supposed to know that wasn't authentic when she had it at another Korean place?! We are not Korean! You'd think this would be the end of it, but no it gets worse. One of my friends with an allergy asked if the dish she ordered contained fish oil and he gave her a strange answer that we didn't understand. Before he left, she asked again to confirm that there is definitely no fish oil in the dish and he actually yelled at her! "YOU ALREADY ASKED ME THIS AND I SAID NO". We must have all looked at him like he was crazy, because he then proceeded to repeat the fact that she had already asked him this question, over and over and over. I'm not kidding you, he said it about 6 times .. "WHY ARE YOU ASKING ME WHEN I ALREADY SAID NO" At this point we were all fed up with the rudeness of the waiter/owner and decided he did not deserve our money, so we left. I'm not sure how this place is even still in business, but I can't imagine it lasting much longer. I will never be back, and I will make sure to let others know to avoid this restaurant. We ended up at Ali Baba's which is a minute down the street and it was absolutely delicious, and the people were extremely welcoming :) read more

If I could rate Korea House with a zero stars, I would. Like other previous potential customers, I too was refused service because I wanted to order only appetizers and a drink. Aside from the couple leaving, as I was so abruptly ushered out, the place was absolutely empty...at 5:25pm. I might see their entry-only policy as a reasonable suggestion for a busy four or five star restaurant at the dinner hour, but for a place in a so-so strip mall, with cluttered decor like your zany aunt's house, and an exceptionally generic fusion menu, I'm not sure what they are thinking. I guess it's their choice to drive business away if they so choose. read more

Geographically, Korea is about as far away from here as it's possible to be, something I'm usually very grateful for - I like being able to go to the grocery store without some old lady screaming at me - but in the case of Korea House and its inability to use authentic or fresh ingredients, the distance shows. The kimchee here obviously comes from a can or giant bag of some sort, the meat is not actually from the part of the animal it's supposed to be, and good lord are the portions small. In the time it takes you to read this review, you could have eaten two meals at Korea House, at eleven bucks a pop, no less. Worst Korean food I've ever had, and I lived there for eighteen months, so that's saying a lot. Too bad, too, since the owners are pretty nice people. read more

I truly have mixed opinions about Korea House. My experience started off well with polite service and broad menu offerings. However, things went downhill from there. The food was mediocre--their kimchi was not authentic and the kimchi jiggae (stew) had a strong sweet taste (in my experience, it should be savory and sour). I have never had kimchi stew like this and it's not authentic whatsoever. I also ordered the kimchi pancake appetizer and bi bim bop--both were less than average in terms of taste and quality. My biggest issue, however, was that the server brought the check to my table before my party had finished our dinners, and then immediately asked if she could go ahead and get our payment. I was puzzled by this, and asked her if they were about to close (I can't think of any other reason to interrupt someone's dinner to process their credit card). She told us that they didn't close for another hour but that they liked to close early if "no one was there". Obviously, I took issue with this because we were there! Call me high maintenance, but I felt really unwelcome and disappointed after that. It's one thing to close early if you don't have any customers, but I can't understand why you would rush people out in the middle of their dinner when it's still an hour before closing time. With bizarre service like that, and less than mediocre, unauthentic Korean food, I will not be returning. read more

My friend and I went there for lunch, the food is alright like it has always been, but after we paid the bill, the owner came looked at my friend's receipt and said "no tip... I don't want to see you here again." When we first got to the restaurant and ask for change for a table in the back, then the waitress said "most Americans doesn't have problems with it", what ever that suppose to mean. The food here isn't bad, actually better than some Korean food I've had. The reason for my low rating is that the portions are SOOOO SMALL for the price. I got the combination plate ($13.99) at dinner and it came in a tiny little bento box with 2 small pieces of chicken (PS not real Korean BBQ style seasoned at all), 2 kalbi ribs, and a tiny little bit of bulgogi. My son has many allergies so I had to make sure that what he eats doesn't have wheat and all that. The waitress informed me that she just started to I was patient with her, while she was helping me the owner come over and said "you don't know anything" and shooed her away, then he TOLD me what to order instead of explaining things to me. I went on a friend date tonight and everyone got excellent food. The place was small and intimate and the server/ possibly cook was so kind and helpful with the items on the menu. My friends got bento boxes with I think galbi and bulgogi and everything on their plates was delicious. I got the hot stone beef bibimap and it was also amazing. We also had a kimchi pancake appetizer which we all devoured instantly. The menu had a variety of options with plenty of healthy choices and a decent drink menu. I think the price (which really isn't bad) is worth it for the quantity, quality and love put into making the food. I think my friends and I can agree we have a new North Boulder favorite and we will be back! read more

A nightmare dining experienced! I choose one star only because there's is no Zero star. Honestly I didn't even know how to describe this place. The owner is a low life piece of shit person. Being in a restaurant business, I have to say that he is a very rude, argumentative and very arrogant person! He must be crazy! My family and my friend decided to give this place a try since were in Boulder and we don't want to drive far in a snowy cold night. We order almost $300 worth of food but one of my friend ask to have a hot water to drink instead of cold water due to her medical condition. The waitress give my friend a cup of hot water, however, when the owner found out that it was just hot water he came back and yelled at us that next time we can't do that because we need to stick up in the menu and he cannot provide us anything if it's not on the menu. I ask the owner if he charge for the hot water and if that so... that is also fine with us. He replied that he can't do that either because it's not on the menu. So I told him that if that so we can't comeback here anymore since my friend can't drink anything cold. He replied "it's okay". So then I ask back that if he rather lost$300 sales because of hot water? He replied "Yes". He must be crazy right? But wait...not only that. Since he did not serve our food at the same time, some of us still eating but then he hand us our check already while others are still eating . We each paid separately. My husband then pay with card since our bill alone is $140 and put zero on the tip because we are leaving him cash for tip even though we receive a poor service. Not even 30 seconds as soon as he saw zero amount on the tip he went ballistic and said to my husband why he put zero and demanded his tip. My husband said that yes that is correct I put zero amounts in there because I want to leave you with cash. Then he said where the cash? I did not see it on the table! We all then replied that ahhh...we are still here we are not leaving yet and some of us wasn't even done. He then harassed us demanding us to change the amount and not to put zero on the tip. We try to explain to him that we will give him a cash as soon as we were done. But it seems like he don't even hear us and continue to be on our face demanding for his tip. He told us not to comeback there anymore so at that point we all got up and walk out. He followed us all the way outside to our car and told us to pick up the snow we dropped from our car and take it with us. He is harassing us all the way outside even we have our small kids with us. Seriously! I can't imagine why this place is not shutdown yet. I don't even mind the small overpriced food so much but the arrogant and purely rude Korean owner was just purely beyond nightmare! Korea house is another hidden gem in Boulder. They serve traditional Korean food as well as some very fine sushi. The kimchi here is great we always get that to start off dinner with some several other pickled goods they have. The bento box is my go to dish, or the deluxe bento box if I really want to try all the delicious meats. The beef, short ribs, and bulgogi have always been perfectly marinated and seasoned. Always tender. I wish they had more variety in drinks, in particular cocktails and such. I'm not too big of a fan of the per-packaged "cups" of wine either. Besides that, the food gets 5 stars. I'm not too familiar with korean food so please take my criticism with a grain of salt and try it for yourself. The chef always comes out and greets us at the table as well as during and after our meals. Super nice guy. So remember to get the bento box! read more

The man was very upset with us, probably bc when I realized this wasn't going to be a good experience, I just wanted to pay for our 4 dumplings and go. I was told that I could not use my debit card and it was cash only. He proceeded to walk up and show me a hand written sign that must of been out of customer view stating no cards under 10$. I've been coming here for years, and I love it. After reading the other reviews, I thought I should put in a good word. It almost felt like they were describing a different place. I've never had any problems with the staff. The prices are very reasonable and the food is fantastic. The kimchi pancake, hot stone bibimbop, monkey brain (it's a sushi roll), and honey ginger tea are great. They have fantastic kimchi which you can buy if they have enough. It is a little family run place that sometimes gets very busy and then things can slow down, but it's never been too bad and it's worth any wait, if you have one. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boulder! My friend and I have a joke that we can't even say the name without truly craving it and making a trip over for a meal. That being said, it is a different dining experience than most Boulderites have been trained to expect. It is quiet, and a bit slow, and the incredibly kind chef/owner is difficult to understand at times, but it is all a beautiful addition to a unique experience. Some of the menu items aren't available at certain times of the day, or if the restaurant is busier, but it's acceptable because of the care that you see go into each and every dish. The chef will tell you he is unable to make something if he cannot devote the proper time and care to make it as exceptional as it can be. I can see how this could frustrate someone who is used to being able to demand whatever they'd like. It's a restaurant, and you need to order off of the menu and accept unavailable items, it is not your private kitchen. If you want a custom cooked meal, created by your own momentary desires, go to the grocery store and cook it yourself. I assure you that you will be missing out on one of the most delicious meals you can find in Boulder. The Kimchi Seafood Udon is amazing. It comes out piping hot and full of veggies, seafood (some of it is the fish cake variety), and perfectly cooked noodles. The Soft Tofu Soup is to die for, with egg and melting tofu in an amazing broth and served with rice. I would recommend all of the starters except the Tuna Pokky, and that is only because I haven't tried it yet. All in all, I highly recommend Korea House. Fuck this place. Yes, I said it. Fuck this shithole of a place. I arrived there with my fiancé around 745-8pm. They advertised closing at 10 so I assumed it'd be fine to be seated around that then. Apparently to the owner/server they were closing the kitchen and refused to make anything I tried to order. No sushi, no fried anything, no noodles, no rice. Finally we just order steamed green vegetable vegetarian dumplings, a house salad, edamame, miso soup, lemonade and a beer. They refused to make anything else from a menu of four pages. Who closes two hour early? Money hungry fucks. Worst service I've ever experienced in my life. The owner/server was super argumentative and served us chicken dumplings after we specified we were both vegetarian and wanted the green vegetable dumplings. He then argued with us over taking back the chicken dumplings when we were telling him repeatedly we were not going to eating this and that we wanted the vegetarian dumplings as specified. Eventually fiancé and I said fuck this, don't even worry about making us proper ones due to how argumentative the owner was and got the bill where he still charged us for what we clearly didn't want. He explained to us it was him "losing money" when we said we didn't want to be charged for the chicken dumplings. He was raising his voice and screaming at us about losing money. I have worked in kitchens and dumplings cost maybe .35 cents to make. They charge $10.50 an entree plus $4.50 for 5 dumplings that are extremely small with a little fresh inedible parsley poof on top. This place seems super money hungry and the owner is a dick. Don't give them service. Fuck this place. I've never walked out on a restaurant in my life and here it finally happened. I literally felt like I was on one of those reality restaurant shows. Actually, nothing looks like the pictures and it only tasted okay but because I didn't know any other Korean restaurant in the area that also serve assorted Asian alcohol we came here. I was there with my friends for my birthday. At first the chef was nice and attentive. He even gave me an extra roll of sushi for free as a "birthday present". Before we leave we told our friends to make sure and leave a good tip which we all did. However, one of our friend only came by and had a drink, said hi and left while we were eating and forgot to tip. But our party in together had left close to $60. The chef came back with the drink check in hand and asked me, personally, why I did not leave a tip when he even gave me a free sushi roll. I was speechless and so embarrassed. Good grilled food and fantastic pickled sprouts; lousy atmosphere.

My friend and I were looking for a place to grab some sushi on a recent Monday night. After realizing the one we often go to had gone out of business, and my favorite option off Folsom was closed on Mondays, we decided to try something new. We headed to Korea House due to its location and sushi menu options. After we arrived, the place felt very strange due to it being prime dinner time and us being the only customers. However, we took a chance and grabbed a table. From there, things just got worse. The waiter (who was incredibly hard to understand due to his poor English) noticed we were looking at the sushi menu and proceeded to tell us that sushi is only available on Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately, this tidbit of information was not on the website, nor on the dining menu we were looking at. Disappointed we opted to order some tea, soup and salads. We tried to order our food choices, but the waiter kept rudely telling us something in such broken English that my friend and I couldn't understand. Eventually, after numerous times of asking him to repeat himself, we were able to decipher that he was saying that the "only policy" of the restaurant is that we have to order a main dish "first", then we could order other items. We explained that all we wanted was soup and salad since the sushi menu was not available. The waiter told us that if we did not order a main dish, he would not serve us. After carefully verifying that he was not going to serve us anything we wanted, we had no other choice but to leave. This was certainly the most unfriendly and bizarre dining outing I have ever had...not just in Boulder, but of any location I have ever lived (and I have lived in a lot of places!). It became exceptionally clear to me why there were no customers in the entire restaurant! I obviously can't speak for the quality of food, however, based on the unavailable menu items, restaurant "policies" and incredibly rude wait staff, I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
