I have reviewed this place very favorably in the past,. The bread is wonderful but I feel that the quality of the prepared food is slipping. In the last order I got the meat and spinach pies were all bread and not enough filling. In almost 50 years of living in Methuen, I hadn't been to Korbani's until Friday. I cannot say enough by the warm welcome I was given by Kristen, a family member. Aisles are marked with arrows, sanitizer, masks worn etc. It's a small store but a VERY safe place to shop. Today I picked up my usual assortment of deliciousness.... Rude manager/owner. After many years purchasing at Korbani's I will no longer set foot in their store. Frozen bread at 2:00PM on a Monday and she would not break up a box of dates saying she would rather sell the whole box yet has always gave me a smaller portion when asked for in the past. Also after waiting well over five minutes to be waited on I asked if one of the other workers could serve me and she yells out they are now done for the day. Rude, no class. Today I went to Korbani's Bakery to buy lunch for my daughter who lives nearby and my husband. Went in with my service dog that I cannot be without and I was told the dog could not be there even after explaining that he was a service dog that I cannot be without. I guess they don't know the laws regarding service animals. I stopped here because my son loved his Lebanese grandmother"s cooking and he comes often to buy food to go. He specially loves the desserts. On my first visit I ordered kibbe, dolmas w beef and the recently baked bread. We had them for dinner w the yogurt/cucumber salad and the chickpea hummus I make myself. My mom, my husband and myself were delighted: the kibbe was so soft and juicy, the grape leaves were out of this world and the bread was fantastic! I am becoming a regular! What a good cook! We popped in here to pick up some middle eastern goodness. I got some fresh and still warm pita bread that the family is still enjoying. It was good to see things that are hard to find - like Ghazi Isfahan which is a rose water nougat candy with pistachios from Iran (or made in Californian, now) and something we call Nazook (forget what they called it). We also compared and contrasted two different versions of sumsum. One was a crispy one and the other was not - finally I now know what Frannie was trying to find at the store near me. Our version is tahini hatz (tahin bread) and is thicker. I think I prefered the crispier version but both were yummy. Since I live in Watertown, there is nothing here that I can not get at the Armenian or Middle Eastern markets at home, although some items were slightly cheaper. Korbani's has the most absolutely amazing fatouch salad and fresh pita bread! Seriously the fatouch and pita are the best in the whole state of Massachusetts, probably New England by default. Oh, Korbani's...you are the best! Last Friday, I was rushing to grab some food from Korbani's on my long ride home from work. As I was getting out of my car, I could tell the gentleman was trying to close up shop, but he reassured me that I had time to come inside and get what I needed. Everyone was wonderful and didn't seem to mind I stopped in last minute, which made me feel much better about it even though I was determined to get in and out as quickly as possible so as not to be "that customer!" The customer service alone is worth a visit to Korbani's, but let's be honest - the food is what we're really there for - and it is THE BEST! My mom's side of the family is Lebanese and this is the only place my Sito would buy her pita bread. Now I know why. My personal favorites (so far) are the veggie grape leaves, chicken hushwee, spinach pies (freeze great - keep a stock pile!), whole wheat pita (freeze really well too!) and tabbouleh, but my plan is to swing by as often as possible to try something new! Long story short: Korbani's is all about great food made with love by really wonderful people. read more

Let's first talk about how korbani doesn't have one picture of their business posted on yelp, they have been here for over 30 years and I feel you are not allowed to take pics in here, I have no idea why, all you do is sell pita bread and other goodies, why is it they have no pics??? I walk in on a Friday afternoon place is somewhat busy with customers buying the pita bread. I order a falafel sandwich at the deli counter. I was hesitant to ask for it cause on their menu which is hanging on the wall doesn't state that they have them, but a friend of mine told me they do. I asked the lady working there and she said yes we do have falafel. I order and I was looking at what else they have but she said if you don't need anything else you can go pay at the front counter and let them know what you got, she seemed to rush me and I was just looking to see what else they have. I don't like being rushed especially if I see something else I want. Also there was no one behind me so whats the rush for?? Now as I was waiting for my wrap I decided to take a picture of their tabouli cause it looked good and the meat pies in the fridge also looked like something I want... Next thing you know the same person that took my order and this other older woman who was a customer asked me why am I taking pictures? Really you just asked me that.. The ignoramus tells me that when they go to whole foods they are not allowed to take pics, I laughed out loud and was thinking why are there so many halfwit people in this world. I then tell both of them that I have taken so many pics at any place I visit and of whole foods. This isn't your millennial shop, kids. It's serious old school and I'm more than okay with them not caving to social media fakeness. Life does exist off of social media for millions of people, ya' know! Went to a summer BBQ in Methuen -- a town you hear about on the local traffic report but usually never visit if you're from Boston. They had pita bread, tabbouleh, feta salad and hummus from Korbani's as apps instead of the usual chips. After once scoop of feta and hummus , I skipped the BBQ usuals and snarfed all the goodies from Korbani's--even scraping the bowl to get the last bit of salad juice with my pita. This is pita as it should be -- slightly charred, thin, tearable-- it is insanely delicious. I feel sorry for people who only know brand name pita like Thomas's. Hummus was nice and loose -- feta salad creamy with a fresh crunchy bite of green peppers, red onion and tomato. And, olives --glorious olives-- of course. I've been back twice more since that fateful BBQ. It's well worth planning your I-495 ride north around their open hours as they're only a slight side trip from the highway. Next visit I'll check out the grape leaves -- they have both meat and meatless varieties. I grew up on kibbe-- even the raw kind-- but as I'm more of a vegetarian, I didn't sample their kibbe. Hope someone reports back on it. Not the big of a falafel eater, so I'm sure others have a better insight to its tastiness. Service was quick and pleasant--nothing more to ask for. read more

Wow, I can't believe how close I always am to this place but I have NEVER been! Well let me tell you, I totally would have forgotten if I hadn't gotten my car serviced in Lawrence and someone asked if there was a BofA around, so of course I used my yelp app and spotted something BETTER! KORBANI'S! So it was REALLY easy to get to off 495, its probably a minute or two down rt 110. I got there and yes, there is parking. I was nervous about whether or n ot there would be. Inside was different than other markets I've been in, it wasn't cluttered and overwhelming and everyone was happy to help. I immediately spotted their pita, I got whole wheat and it was really fresh and soft. Then I made my way to the prepared foods and got a little of everything: Meat stuffed grape leaves: Delicious! Would get them again. Hummus: Delicious! Should have bought two large containers. It was a little thinner that others out there but this is the way I like it. Baked Kibbeh: YUM! I really enjoyed this a lot, very lemony and nice but not overwhelming. Tabbouleh: Bright green, lemony and fresh. Kinda wish I saw the red lentil version but I didn't til I was done ordering. Baba ghanouj: was good....but it needed something, not sure what. Meat Pie: YES Spinach Pie: YESSSS! Lima beans in tomato sauce: DO IT AGAIN!
