Fried potatoes are $2.50 as of 12/2/23
Dawn R.

This place doesn't get enough love. A Charlotte classic : Kopper Kettle. Don't expect anything fancy. This place looks like it is stuck in the '70s with brown decor everywhere. However, the service is great (our waitress was wearing reindeer antlers and a smile the whole time- it's December, after all) The prices are phenomenal and have not changed on what I ordered since before 2020 hit ! Now THAT'S good business management and I'd bet they own the building too. My biscuits and gravy cost $4.25. The biscuits were nice and fluffy. Sawmill gravy is not my favorite but it's good here. Now, if they had sausage gravy, I think I'd be here once a week ! The browned potatoes were $2.50. These weren't as good as the last time. These here were more like fried mashed potatoes, but they were still good. Hubby's french toast biscuits and syrup were $5. You MUST get this if you haven't tried it ! The crunch of the toasted, fried biscuits brings french toast to another level. I don't think this is actually on the menu, but ask for it and the staff will know what you are talking about before you even finish your sentence. You can get the french toast biscuit as a sandwich too. You tip at the table and then bring your check to the register just like the 'ol days. Open until 11:30am only.

This place I liked very much. Reminds me of back home. Just some nice, country folks having a good southern meal. The servers were nice. The food took a while to come out. The scrambled eggs were a bit undercooked and the gravy had a whole jar of pepper in it, at least that's how it tasted, I couldn't eat it. Hash browns and biscuits were bomb though. Overall, I will come back here... you need country cooking every now and then.

Grilled Buscuits

Two words: Grilled Biscuits most authentic and charming ambiance. Great quality food, unmatched customer service. Feels like going to a friend's house for breakfast. Sara the owner is super friendly.

Biscuits (never had them fried but always will from now on!), omelette, smash plate with eggs and livermush. All excellent.

Excellent breakfast! Stopped in because it was local to where we were and turns out it was a great choice! Loved the food and server was kind and attentive. Breakfast portions were huge and delicious! Bonus was the merchandise - bought the kettle sweatshirt.

Perfect! Corn beef hash well done

This is my new breakfast spot in pineville! Great service, great food, what more can you ask for? I can't wait to try other options. The corn beef hash is exactly what I wanted it to be! Perfect! I'll be back!

Read the reviews and took a gamble. SO GLAD WE DID! Don't the the unassuming exterior fool you! We enjoyed a warm atmosphere, welcoming staff and BIG PORTIONS. Buy a sweatshirt for $20 and advertise for this family owned business, I did. Bacon Smashpot Club Sandwich Livermush

It's not a great neighborhood, surrounded by industrial properties and right off the Interstate. Still, it's a classic and the food probably hasn't changed in forty years. "Comfort" options abound. Prices are quite reasonable, too. I took a seat at the counter and enjoyed a bit of cable television with my meal. I never did find out if Maverick was able to help that nice newspaper lady. I ordered a cheese omelet, which came with toast and home fries. Interesting potatoes, which were closed to mashed and then grilled. Good, but different. Omelet was a good portion. Lots and lots of coffee. I'll be back to the Kettle, no doubt.

Very nice little quant place . Was greeted immediately by the lady at the front door. The waitress sherry I believe was awesome. She remembers orders and they are extremely family oriented . We ordered a vegan breakfast burrito and they happily accommodated and the flounder plate . The whole breakfast was under $25 bucks including beverages. I highly recommend visiting !

Great selection of daily meals. Friendly service, and atmosphere. I would drive past 30 conglomerate owned restaurants for this place.

I may have one or two on my husband's phone that I still need to pull. Now, let me tell you...this place is amazing! And it was even better because our server RICO (UPDATE: I figured between the five of us, someone remember Rico, right? I just wanted to make sure I gave credit where credit was due.) He gave us just the right amount of attention without us ever having to ask twice--or even once! He kept our drinks refilled and checked in to see if we needed anything else. That kind of service makes such a difference. The interior is unique and really cool. I especially loved the idea of hanging a full-size motorcycle from the ceiling. Definitely a great conversation piece! We had a party of five, and all five of us ordered something different, ranging from a chicken salad to tacos, hush puppies, and, of course, my Chopped Brisket Sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. I'm already drooling again just thinking about it! The brisket was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of seasoning. But let me talk about those sweet potato fries... THE BEST sweet potato fries I've had so far! They were crispy on the outside and actually tasted like sweet potatoes. I've had sweet potato fries at other restaurants that were soggy and tasted more like frying oil than sweet potato. These were completely different--crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I 100% recommend them! So, if you're in the Charlotte area, do yourself a favor and stop by Mac's Speed Shop at 2414 Sandy Porter Road. Great food, great atmosphere, and phenomenal service. I would definitely go back!

James, the host, welcomed us with such a warm smile that, even though I'm visiting from Dallas, I immediately felt right at home. That kind of genuine Southern hospitality is hard to find and made the experience even more memorable. The food was phenomenal, and the mac and cheese tasted just like something Big Mama would make--rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Every bite reminded me why great barbecue is about more than just the meat; it's about comfort, tradition, and hospitality. If you're looking for authentic BBQ, amazing comfort food, and service that makes you feel like family, this is the place to be. I'll definitely be back!

It's never a win on both. The best thing I've had here so far is the strawberry French toast--it's actually really good. Unfortunately, the worst thing I've had was the waffle portion of the chicken and waffles. The waffles were so hard that I honestly can't believe the kitchen sent them out, and I can't believe I actually tried to eat them! I really want to see this place succeed, but they definitely need to work on consistency, especially with both the food and the drinks. There's potential here, but unfortunately, my experiences so far have been more disappointing than enjoyable.

That's like charging $10 for a small shot of Hpnotic, especially without notifying that it is that much of an additional charge. I understand an upcharge, but $10 is absurd for what was a splash of Baileys. It wasn't even 1.5oz brought out in those small plastic communion cups. Upon Google review, "A $10 upcharge for a shot of Baileys Irish Cream in an espresso martini is unusually high. Normal liquor and modifier upcharges at restaurants generally range from $2 to $6. The Modifier Premium: Standard bars charge $2 to $5 to add a splash of liqueur. The Standalone Pour: High-end lounges often lack a dedicated "modifier" button for premium liqueurs in their Point-of-Sale (POS) system. The bartender is forced to ring up a full 1.5 oz to 2 oz pour, which carries a baseline lounge price of $10 to $14."

At the southern pecan, I could've had a whole sheet of their cornbread -- it was pleasantly delicious. Also of note: Our server was prompt and kind. The vibe inside was really cool too. We started with the hush puppies and raw oysters. The mignonette was really interesting, chunky with apples (I think?). It wasn't really my thing personally, but definitely unique. The hush puppies came out HOT and crispy with a honey sauce. You can also get them dusted with cinnamon and sugar, which I thought was a fun option. For lunch, I went with the pecan crusted catfish with oven baked mac and cheese and collard greens. The catfish was SO crispy but still delicate inside, and that pecan topping was delicious. The mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy with a bubbly, crunchy top. The collard greens were perfectly seasoned. Sometimes collards can be way too vinegar heavy, but these had a really nice balance. Everything came out HOT, which I always appreciate. Really enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere here!

I got the food home and started tasting everything I purchased in the pictures below. Personally, I did not care for the vast majority of the meals. The fish & chicken were so hard and dry that they were like the Sahara Desert. It was flavorless, as were the vegetables. They tasted like they were fresh out of the can. I won't be going back there again, but if I did, it would only be for the mac & cheese, potato salad, and the roll. Not that they were delicious, but they were far better than the rest of the food on the platter. It's a NO for me.
