I want to extend a huge shout-out to our waiter, Vivian, for giving us insight on the food and bars/places to check around in Dallas! She went above and beyond :) Miso soup with silky tofu was delicious, they balanced out the yellow miso well with a hint of (maybe) crate-barrelled? For the nigiri I had the fatty tuna, a5 wagyu, and king salmon. They were all absolutely delicious and warped me to Japan. I was reminded of the same quality and taste - which checks out since they import their fish from Japan! The special kome roll was so delicious I ate it very slowly to savor every bite and memory of sushi in Japan. For dessert I had the deep fried cheesecake - I think the last time I had this I was 12 at Mr. sushi in Boston and all my memories came back. Grapes were too big though but everything else A+ The matcha tonic - I can't find it online but it was an incredible balance of fizzy, sweetness and matcha. Absolutely amazing again. Sat at the end of the sushi bar this time so didn't have a good view of the sushi chefs working their magic, but it is still a great small sushi place. My favorite place for hand rolls and one of my favorites for sushi in general. A few standout things: Snow crab hand roll- I love snow crab hand rolls in general, and kome's are my favorite so far. Creamy salmon nigiri- very tasty but light sauce used that apparently is a secret recipe. Various other hand rolls, amaebi w head, Monkfish liver, Black cod all (shrimp) were very good. Reliably very good: Sunomono (cucumber) salad - many places make this kind of soggy. Whether it is the kind of cucumbers they use or how they cut them, they're always crisp here. A friend recommended Kome to us for months before we finally decided to go. Since our first visit, we've been back twice for a total of 3 dinners in 7 weeks. If there's room at the sushi bar, sit there! Not only is it soothing to watch the chefs at work, they're also exceptionally friendly and may even have some surprises in store for you. The miso eggplant appetizer is a must have for us every time we go. If you're a tuna lover like me, you can't go wrong with the toro, hamachi, or bluefin in any version - but the hand rolls are amazing. Check out the specials while you're there and opt for sashimi or nigiri to really enjoy the flavor of the fish. There are some sushi roll options as well, including cooked for those who don't prefer or cannot consume raw fish. I liked the Golden Rainbow roll a lot. The spider roll is good as well. On our last visit we found out there's been a change of ownership/management. So far, no change to staff. Originally we went to dallas for the day to eat at another handroll place but it did not hit like it used to due to changes in ownership. Our personal fav staff was Soma and she was the sweetest korean auntie. You can tell they love their customers and treat everyone like family. Now to talk about the food. You cannot go wrong but our favs were definitely the yellowtail pear and the scallop fois gras. Pro tip is ask them to torch the scallop alittle more for the crunch and youll taste the flavor better. Everything just compliments each other. Our salmon from the ponzu was super fatty so that was a plus. Now the handrolls doesnt have the crunch sadly but i like that they cut in halves so we can each try. We got 6 hanrolls and really love the snow crab, spicy tuna and lobster. I was so blown away by this place. I know there's a review that says this is the same as the one in Austin but this is a unique establishment in North Dallas. Right off Walnut Hill and 75 the location is in the middle of a shopping center and tucked away - I wasn't sure where I was supposed to go but it made it feel like I found a secret restaurant. The staff is Korean, and they are the friendliest. Because I was on a business trip and dining solo - they treated me to so many freebies (service in Korean) while sitting at the bar. The speciality fish is where it's at. The chef cares so much for the quality of the fish and it's one of the best nigiris I've had. Like other sushi restaurants it's small and quaint - lots of couples when I was there. I would come here once a week if I could (it's a bit pricier, and a drive from Dallas proper but so worth it).
