Overcooked after asking for a second batch because first batch was cold.
    Nica I.

This goes to Koja Food truck/ staff @ Serramonte 10/31/2017 Problem #1: No line, takes me 20 mins to get my food. (Just Kamikaze fries) Problem #2: Fries were literally frozen when given to me. (I returned and asked for a new batch of fries because the ones they gave me were so cold) Problem #3: The second batch of fries given to me were basically the first batch of fries but just refried. They were so over cooked they were basically inedible chips. Terrible.

For a food truck, the pricing was pretty good. Tried the kamikaze fries and the chicken rice burger. They came out promptly and I regretted no getting two orders of the fries the minute I tried one. It's a nice blend of spicy kimchi, sweet crunchiness, and the warm fries. The meal caused quite a mess while eating cause the burger was dripping with those delicious juices.

So freaking delicious! Ordered the kamikaze fries and bulgogi burger combo with coconut juice. Fries are loaded with kimchi, green onion, and bulgogi, and the burger has a slice of grilled pineapple, too! The best part, though, is the grilled rice bun. If you're a fan of the crispy bits of fried rice left in your pan or stone pot, hot stone bibimbap style, don't miss out on Koja Truck. Definitely going to come back. Awesome food and great service (line moves fast and servers are super friendly)!

Chicken Koja with Pineapple and veg Kamakaze fries

This amazing food truck comes to the food truck yard between 1st street and Fremont street . The chicken Koja with Pineapple is amazingly unique. It looks like a usual burger not tastes nothing like it. A Koja is a bun made of rice and garlic. Tender pieces of chicken in their unique sauce and sesame seeds are stuffed between two Koja Buns. The taste is pretty unique. They also have interesting fries called as Kamakaje Fries. It is a must try. Although they have ground beef on the fries but chicken and vegan options are available too. The queue here is longer than the other trucks. Their desert looks very tempting too. Those looking for a unique burger, must try this place.

The Koja Kitchen Truck set up on the street outside of our party venue.

We booked the Koja Kitchen Truck for our anniversary party (technically, a very belated wedding celebration) in Emeryville. They were super professional from start to finish and typically responded to my questions in 1-2 days. On the day of the party, they showed up right on time (an hour before the party) and started setting up and cooking. Our guests were able to start ordering as soon as they arrived and typical wait time was about a minute long. They even had a personalized message on their menu screen! The menu for our party consisted of one combo per person: a Koja (sandwich) plus kamikaze fries. Everyone loved the food - even the older folks who had no idea what bulgolgi was. The vegetarian (fake meat) Koja was also a hit. It was extremely filling - our appetizer trays were only half eaten and people were too full to eat dessert! I think the pricing was very fair as well, considering the food is made to order. One thing to note - we gave them (and paid for) a headcount of 80. I was told that if we went over (or if people wanted seconds), we would just get charged for the extra food. On the day of the party, they said that they were ready to serve *exactly* 80 combos. Luckily, there were a few last minute cancellations so we didn't run out. But just FYI - it might be good to give a slight overestimate or to let them know there's a chance you'll want more than the headcount. We ended up with 5 extra Kojas and 2 fries - which they very nicely gave to us before leaving for the evening, in case people got hungry. They actually reheated pretty well the next day, to my surprise.

    Yummy beef! Ok lettuce?
    Teresa W.

The food is totally tasty. I ordered the Koja but without the bun so they put lettuce underneath. The short ribs are incredibly tasty! So for that I'd go back. The person taking the order was a bit short with me almost annoyed at my mere existence. The portions are small for what you pay. Also the lettuce is shredded iceberg which seems to me devoid of value and almost always flavor. In this case they dressed it with a light vinaigrette which was good for flavor but it also made it lack crunchiness. The kimchi was processed perhaps in a food processor so it had flavor and I suppose an interesting texture.

    Beef (bulgogi) KoJa

The KoJa is a fabulous thing! I was quickly sucked in by learning their name signified their Korean and Japanese fusion style - absolutely nothing wrong with that. I hoped to play to their strengths by making my first sample of their wares the bulgogi KoJa, and it did not disappoint! The meat was well cooked and had that wonderful deep flavor of the marinades and proper cooking Korean bbq beef needs. The pizazz of the toppings took it all to the next level - the pineapple kicked up the sweetness, sesame seeds added an earthiness, some shredded lettuce gave that warm/cool contrast, and the sriracha brought the heat! Finally, those crispy rice patties that make the buns - just WOW, incredible flavor and texture, and so much more interesting than what anything bready would have brought to the sandwich. Make sure you grab a fork, I apparently didn't eat my KoJa quickly enough to prevent the slow disintegration, but it tastes just as good by the forkful. I definitely look forward to returning and trying more of this fun sandwich concept! I must also share, if your food truck party includes an alcohol purveyor, the bulgogi paired up GORGEOUSLY with a glass of red wine. Keep it balanced and fabulous!

Stumbled across a bunch of food trucks in Concord today and decided to give this one a try. It was AMAZING. I got the bulgogi and kamikaze fries and they were one of the best meals I have ever had. I live in Fairfield and would absolutely drive out here just for this truck again!

I was immediately greeted by chef Elmy and his staff. I ordered a gyro to go as I knew my wife would want to try as well. I was expecting a gyro neatly wrapped like a burrito in foil that I could place in my bag. Instead I was presented with two heaping plates of food covered in foil. Luckily the bike I was riding had a basket. Chef Elmy told me which plate to keep on top and instructed me to be careful with the food on my ride home. "Yes sir". I got home and present the plates to my wife. She removed the foil unveiling two colorful delicious looking plates of food. We were both glowing. One was the gyro I had ordered and the other was a mix of some of the most delicious beans I have ever had along with a salad, a roasted pepper and pickled vegetables. The portions were huge, but more importantly delicious. Food like this could only be made by someone who loves feeding people which I believe Chef Elmy does. I cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu.

From the very beginning, we were welcomed with bowls of soup as soon as we approached the truck. We were asked if we had any restrictions or preferences, and Chef Elmy cooked us a personalized meal. Note that everything is made-to-order so be prepared to wait a little - but for his cooking, anything is worth it. We were handed two gorgeous generously filled plates that could feed a family of 6! He also gave us bottles of water to keep us hydrated. The plate consisted of two wraps, chicken and kofta, with a couple of sides. We were not sure what the sides were (besides the delicious corn that was crusted and seasoned beautifully) but everything had us smacking our lips, especially the fried one. The food was intentional and made with so much love and care, something that is so rare to find nowadays. A real hidden gem and they deserve all the support! We cannot wait to return to try all the other food and specials Chef Elmy has to offer. Thank you for an outstanding and delicious lunch (and dinner)!

I thought they might be closed because the front gate is closed, but if the side gate through the parking lot is open, it's open. They were closing a little early for another event, so I waited about 15 minutes to get takeout and took it to a nearby park. The Chatamari is a great gluten-free option with its rice dough, I wasn't sure if it would be enough for a meal but it was plenty for $12! Topped with minced chicken, egg & a ton of spice, this place is not dialing down the spice for 'American' palates. Like a 'pizza' the rice dough is nice and chewy, but doesn't make you feel too stuffed. I want to go back and try the Bala made with lentils, and the Yomari dessert. The momo have a nice strong wrapper (hate it when those fall apart), good size with 8 for $12, they gave me half veggie & meat, thank you!
