Not the cleanest food truck out here. Ordering window is filthy to the point. It's a little scary and had me double thinking if I should eat at this truck or not. However I decided to go ahead and place an order. The employees aren't that friendly at first, I didn't even get a hello walking up and took them over five minutes to greet me when I was the only person at the truck. When I was finally asked if I was ready to order, employees were nice. I sat while waiting for my order because they have a cute eating area if you wanted to sit and enjoy your food there. They have two picnic tables under heat lamps with a few wine barrels for standing. Nice little set up. Food was hot and surprisingly delicious. Full of flavor, saucy and fresh... the reason why my food took over 15 to receive. It was totally ok with me that I waited so long because it was that good and so worth it. Food was delicious at the MOMOlicious food truck. Everything was seasoned well and spices were excellent. Chicken Chow Mein was especially notable with excellent flavor from the chicken. The momos were good and the sauces that came with everything was also great. The spicy red sauce definitely has a kick! Location is a bit strange, it's in a parking lot with a small eating area. The employees brought out games for the area to use, such as cornhole and jenga. Everyone who worked there was super nice and talked to us about the food and Nepal. Food was brought out to us at our table which was a bit unexpected for a food truck. Price and quantity was typical for a food truck. With the service and delicious food this is a must stop if you're in El Cerrito or driving through the area as we were going up to Tahoe. Came here on a Saturday afternoon after walking all around Golden Gate Park and was starving. Got the vegan spicy and sweet momos. They were pretty pricey for the portion size. Got the fiery chicken momos at OTG at OMCA. We went around 6:15pm and it was SOOO crowded. Had to wait quite a while, but it was worth the wait. The curry sauce that the momos are stir fried in is soo tasty that you don't need the extra sauce but we tried both the xtra xtra hot (it was too hot for me) and the other one- which I LOVED and went perfectly with the momo and the curry sauce. read more

I think I've tried this place two times now - once at the Presidio tunnel tops and another time at a festival in the city. This last time I tried the chow neon noodles meal that came with 4 dumplings. The noodles were really good and it comes with this hot sauce that's very flavorful and spicy. The truck is parked right in front of the Conservatory of Flowers, which makes it incredibly convenient to grab a bite and enjoy it amidst the colorful flowers. My friends and I split the Veggie Momos and the Chicken Momos. Each order comes with 8 momos. They have three types of momos: Kathmandu, Kothay and Fiery. Had the mango lassi and it was good but sadly not that cold (which cannot be helped). I had the momo + chow mein combo which was $18. It was definitely worth. I pid an extra dollar to have the Fiery momos instead, and they were amazinggg. Chow mein was a bit bland but very simple and still tasty. But, that's what their condiments are for. Ah yes- the humble momo. No, not that creepy viral creature that scares the heebie jeebies, but the beautiful Nepalese dumpling. Momolicious was at Off the Grid near my work, and since I never really get momos, I decided to get 10 momos for lunch. You choose your choice of fillings- chicken or veggie. Then, you choose how you like your dumplings- kathmandu (steamed), kothay (fried), ultimate jhol (in soup), or fiery momo (fried with spicy sauce). You can even choose to get Nepali chicken curry or chow mein and add on 4 momos! I got the kathmandu chicken momos- 10 appropriately sized chicken dumplings, served steamed, and added sauce on the side. This ran me $10+ tax, but they are so tasty and filling. Sauce includes the momo sauce, which is very flavorful and a vital part of the momo experience, or the spicy sauce- a spicier version of the momo sauce. Spicy was awesome if you love spice. Momolicious is really more like Momo-"kinda"-licious. Decent, but definitely not the best that I've had. When this truck popped up on the scene I was SO excited to try it! I think this is the first food truck that I've ever seen that sells Nepali momos. Shayla gets down with the momos! Their food truck popped up at the Pleasant Hill OTG one day, and I ran in there and stole all the momos! Just kiddin'. Well, kidding about stealing the momos. I did run to the truck though...I was happy and hangry. I didn't even realize that I was running until people started looking at me all crazy. The crazy things that food will make me do... Anyways, finally made it to the truck and ordered their Kathay and Kathmandu. Their Kathay momo is a crispy fried dumpling filled with meat and veggies whereas their Kathmandu momo is served steamed. Both are served with a tomato and Sichuan pepper sauce that can be hot or mild. I love both varieties, but I usually prefer my momos steamed. I got mild sauce this time since I had never had sauce from here before, but I think that next time I'd get it spicy. I liked the flavor of the sauce, but I felt like it needed a little more of a kick. The Kathmandu momos actually ended up being my favorite. They were stuffed with meat and veggies and had a nice crisp to them. They were a little bit on the oily side but nowhere near as oily as the Kathay momos. This was surprising to me since the Kathmandu momos are fried and the Kathay momos are steamed. I was not impressed with the Kathay momos. There was so much oil on them that I couldn't really enjoy the taste. Sucks because I prefer my momos steamed, but not with all of that damn oil. If the momos weren't so oily, I'd probably rate them 4 stars. They definitely need to tone down the oil. The service from the gentleman working the truck was great, however. I would like to try a few more items from their menu so I'm hoping that next time they won't use so much oil. read more

Excited coworker wanted to try a couple varieties of Momos so we went here for lunch. I guess a momo is basically a Nepalese potsticker (samosa flavored filling in the inside and potsticker on the outside). We ordered and shared the pan-fried momos and the steamed momos with soup. They had the option of chicken or veggie. We chose chicken for both. The potstickers (both variety) were bland to me - not flavorful at all. Including tax and tip, this was $13 per person for 10 dumplings each - not enough for lunch. I wouldn't recommend this food truck. read more

One perk about the SIP is being able to write my reviews for businesses I have somehow missed and Momolicious is the perfect example.  I love momos so when I saw them at the Winter Walk, I jumped at the chance to get the steamed Kathmandu momos with half vegetarian and half chicken.  Thankfully the sauce was in a squeeze bottle so I was able get more as it was so addictive but I assume that will no longer be the case b/c of Covid. MOMOlicious...YES!!! This is my new favorite foodtruck and place for dumplings. My mouth is watering thinking about them right now. We don't eat Himalayan/Nepalese food that often, so I'm really glad that MOMOlicious can be found at Off the Grid events and in downtown SF. The menu includes steamed and pan-fried dumplings (chicken or vegetable), noodles, and curry, including some options for kids. I ordered the Kathmandu Momo (chicken; steamed) and the Kathay Momo (veggie; pan-fried). Both were made freshly, piping hot, and SO good. The wrapper was the perfect thickness, meaning it held the filling together without being overpowering or doughy. Sometimes meat and veggie dumplings have similar flavors, but to me, these didn't and I was so happy about that. The chicken was subtle and lean, but flavorful with their spices. The veggie was filled with mushroom and carrot and was even tastier in my opinion (but it could be because they were pan-fried. Better yet, they didn't use MSG! Thank you! What I love about momos is not necessarily the momo itself, but the use of thick pepper sauces. Such a nice departure from the soy-heavy sauces usually paired with Chinese, Korean and Japanese dumplings. I like that they offer "Junior" sizes of 5 dumplings so you can mix-and-match a meal. Ultimate Jhol Momo: Momos served with a tangy soup, that (judging by the photos) you should mix together. The broth seemed reminiscent of the base broth in sambar, especially strong on the turmeric. It definitely had more spices than like a Chinese wonton soup. So it was more like dumplings swimming in a lighter-than-usual dipping sauce than soup. Regardless of the how to best describe, it was very tasty. Fiery Momo: Like someone tried to make chili chicken with chicken momos. Loved the dry sauce and partially cooked onions. Could have been slightly better if the momos were seared like a potsticker, but their quick stir fry was still perfect to have their skins absorb the delicious sauce. Mango Lassi: Standard. Saw their food truck parked as we were driving by the Orinda Community Center. At first we thought Off the Grid had come to Orinda but it turned out to be a Taste of the World Event. Decided to try the momo (Nepalese dumplings) at the MOMOlicious truck. Had the chicken curry combo plate with additional momos. The momos were excellent; very fresh, meaty, juicy, flavorful and substantial. I particularly liked the fact that the momo skins were thin and soft and you got a lot of dumpling filling inside each momo. Very tasty! As for the extra momo sauce from the squeeze bottles, the lighter colored one is delicious! Can't quite describe the flavor but it's really good. Beware the redder one with all the chili pepper seeds is really hot. But my favorite here was the mango lassi drink! It was freshly whipped up with just the right amount of mango and wasn't overly sweet, the way I like it. It was smooth, deliciously refreshing and hit the spot for me. I wanted to try both the chow mein (feeling noody that day) and the dumplings, but at first glance- I can't finish both noodz and 10 dumplings unless I go big or go home. Luckily I didn't have to bring my game as there was a Junior option for half the amount of dumplings or even just a few. Chow Mein - I got veggie noodz and the garlic was great on the noodles. I really liked the garlic flavors while my office did not like the smell (sorry guys). The only disappointment for me was that the cabbage for the stir fry was extremely bitter. I had to take some off because I didn't enjoy it at all. MoMos - I tried my friend's ultimate chicken jhol momo and it was okay for me. I am not a fan of the spices personally. I will say the fiery Momos were very tasty due to the sauce. I would come back if I craved the sauce but I do wish they were more crispier. I really liked the Kathmandu momo; I chose steamed with chicken filling (vegan vegetable filling is available too). I arrived to the food truck at opening and decided to try the junior size of 5 dumplings for $6. The regular size starts at $10 for 10 pieces, and they offer different combos such as with soup. Have you ever wanted to try Nepali cuisine? No? Neither did I. However, MOMOlicious just happened to be parked across the street from the Ferry Building one day while walking to the end of Market Street. We were hungry. Instead of eating at the Ferry Building (as we like to do), we decided to give this place a try. I am glad that we did! MOMOlicious offers some cuisine that is unique to the city and to the city's bustling food truck community. It is kind of difficult to describe. On first glance, it looks like Chinese potstickers and Japanese gyoza. However, it is very different. I suspect that the main difference is in the ingredients. In particular, the spices used for these are very different from what you find in other Asian foods. This gives them a very unique -- and very appealing -- flavor. The sauces that the truck offers are also different (and much better) from what you might expect. Ordering is easy. First, you decide whether you want chicken or vegetable. Next, you decide how you want your mo:mo: prepared. Personally, I like the chicken Kothay mo:mo: with some sauce on the side. The truck will give you enough to make a big meal out of it for one or even two people. I am not much of a noodle person, but there were people who ordered before me who boasted that this truck prepares "the best noodles in the city." For a city with a strong Asian presence, that is saying quite a bit! The website lists the company's truck locations. Apparently, MOMOlicious has two trucks -- and one of them is often parked at 10 Market St. (in the open air craft section across from the Ferry Building).
