They really cared about what I wanted and were very thoughtful about the kind of balayage that would work best for me. However, when I got home, I discovered I had chemical burns on my scalp, neck and face, as well as a blister on my ear that broke the skin. It's been more than 24 hours and the symptoms are still present and highly uncomfortable. I've had many color treatments and balayages in the past and this has never happened to me before, so I'm very concerned. I love my hair, but the skin damage makes this a really tough experience. Edit: I am updating my rating from 2 to 3 stars to express my appreciation for the salon's prompt communication and offer of a refund. To keep my review honest and transparent, I do want to note that the physical reaction I experienced was a clear chemical burn, with localized areas feeling burning and oozing. This might have been an oversight during the process--such as product being left on a bit too long or not rinsed out thoroughly. The stylists here are undeniably talented, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time during the appointment itself. While the physical reaction was unfortunate, their effort to communicate with me is appreciated.

She consistently gives me the most amazing razor-cut shags that don't require the extra curling and blow-drying I've seen other stylists have to do to make it even resemble a shag. I can wake up, put some Hairstory products in, and I'm good to go. The way Rae cuts my hair gives it texture and shape, making it less bulky and complimenting my round face. She also gives me the most fantastic curtain bangs, fringe, and wings to flip out my hair. I recently took a new driver's license photo, and thanks to Rae's haircut, it was the first DMV picture I didn't massively hate. She's trained by Jayne from Edo, the Shag Queen that you've probably seen all over Instagram and TikTok, but it doesn't cost a fortune. Plus, Rae is the nicest, most down-to-earth stylist, so it's always good to see her, and the space in Highland Park is very chill. I've definitely been to IG famous hairstylists that made me feel like I was beneath them and gave me a super underwhelming cut. I'm more than happy to make the drive from South LA to Highland Park because Rae's cuts are that good and when I'm out, I always get a lot of compliments on my hair, too.

Even after four years, I still have a bad feeling about this hairdresser when she somehow comes…read moreacross my digital world. After my first and only appointment, she left me with bangs that had some strange long pieces on one side that went over and kept poking in my eye. Not only did it not look right aesthetically (others later confirmed what I was seeing), it was physically annoying. Although everything else was great as far as the cut, this was clearly an oversight that, for whatever reason, neither of us did noticed at the time of the appointment. Frankly, although Rae does not charge as much as many very expensive hair stylists, she is *not* inexpensive and this was the most that I've ever paid for a haircut. I felt that I should not have to correct anything myself plus I did not want to mess with her work at all. After contacting her about this very small matter, as I was willing to make the effort to go back to her to have this corrected, she ghosted me. Instead of being agreeable and embodying all of the positive things she purports to believe in and represent via her Instagram page, she apparently decided that I would be "a difficult client." (And apparently this is a thing with hairdressers, as I found mention of this on a hairdressing professionals site.) There was absolutely no consideration for my feelings. I am far from a difficult client. But the client should be happy, and she could've done a couple of snips and that would've been that. Instead... After receiving no reply via phone after leaving her a couple of messages, I finally had to find her on Instagram and sent her a photo of my obviously uneven bangs. Apparently now fearing that I would post something negative to her account or leave a bad review somewhere, she offered to refund the entire cost of the haircut rather than make this quick fix. I was floored. While happy to not have to end up paying my hard-earned money to someone who basically was cruel to me via her respect for only her feelings with none for me, I knew that she was paying me off. As I didn't want to spend any more time or energy on this or her, she's been successful with that until now. But she's come up again, and I can see all of these great reviews and the feelings of rejection have returned. So I must be such an asshole to deserve to be treated like one, right? No. Our session together was perfectly normal, and Rae just cannot accept that she could make such a small oversight and that a client may not be 100% happy with her work--i.e. she exists beyond reproach. She's an artist, mind you! If you can be happy with that, yes she does good work and it seems that most of the time she gets it right with clients (particularly if they have lots of Instagram followers, I suspect but cannot ascertain) or they just don't bother or feel comfortable mentioning any dissatisfaction. I just don't like people thinking they can treat others like trash because they are an artist in some high-priced field. It's a fucking haircut attached to a human being. Just be a nice person and have some grace.

OMG, I could not be more excited and honored to write this review! My name is Nichole Bloom, and I recently got married at the Ebell of Los Angeles! I was super nervous about getting my hair and makeup done because I had never had professional hair or makeup before and had also been dealing with some unwanted hair-loss issues. I wanted to feel beautiful, confident, and, frankly, full of hair, lol!! From the moment I connected with Theresa and Kohner, I was treated like an absolute queen. My mom also had some concerns about her hair and makeup, which Theresa graciously addressed while ensuring that my mom felt comfortable, safe, and supported throughout the entire process! I had a huge bridal party, and several of my friends are fashion, hair, and makeup girlies who have always helped with my glam and made me feel beautiful for all of life's biggest moments. So, I wanted to make sure that, on the wedding day, they received the full glam experience and left completely satisfied with their results! And wow--I have to say that Theresa and her team absolutely killed it! My seven bridesmaids, two moms, and man of honor walked out of that room looking AMAZING! I cannot rave enough about all of Kohner's artists. They are incredibly talented, kind, and personable. Theresa is also a scheduling mastermind. Everything ran perfectly and smoothly throughout the entire morning, with zero stress or delays. :) Now for my bridal glam: Tokiko. What an icon! From the moment Tokiko came to my parents' house for my trial--which I scheduled before my engagement photos and was a total hole-in-one, hehe--I instantly felt so comfortable and seen by her. She understood exactly what I wanted without me even having the words to describe it, lol. From her flawless makeup and insane eyelash application to her absolute hair wizardry, she is truly one of the most talented and kind people I have ever worked with! On the wedding day, it felt like we picked up right where we had left off. She was so kind, calm, and understanding, and she made sure I had a peaceful and relaxing morning before all of the festivities began! And lastly, the hair!!! I had never worn clip-in hair extensions before, but I was inspired to try them after my trial with Tokiko. I sent her and Theresa a selfie of my hair, and OMG--it turned out perfectly! The extensions matched not only my natural hair color but also my highlights and balayage. I have genuinely never felt or looked better, lol! All I can say is that the Kohner girls are truly fairy godmothers! I am endlessly grateful to Theresa, Tokiko, and the entire amazing team for their kindness, talent, and absolutely iconic work. They made me, my mom, and my entire bridal party feel so beautiful, comfortable, and cared for. I truly could not recommend them more! Lots of love, Nichole read more

When it comes to wedding beauty, Theresa Lee (Owner of Khonur) is literally my go to, my right hand, and one of the very few people I trust wholeheartedly with brides and bridal parties. As an event professional, I've worked alongside countless beauty teams over the years, and what sets Theresa apart is that she understands that wedding beauty is about so much more than hair and makeup. She is attentive, emotionally intelligent, incredibly intuitive, and has a remarkable ability to understand exactly what a bride and her bridal party need, often before they even know how to articulate it themselves. She brings a calming presence to what can easily become a stressful morning, and that alone is invaluable. From the very beginning, Theresa approaches every wedding with a level of thoughtfulness that makes you feel like you're her only client. She listens, she adapts, and she genuinely wants every person in her chair to feel confident, beautiful, and like the best version of themselves. Her team operates with that exact same standard, and together they consistently exceed expectations. One of the biggest pieces of advice I can give future brides is this: trust Theresa's timeline. When she tells you what time everyone should start, when touch ups should happen, and how the morning should flow, trust her completely. She knows exactly what she's doing. Wedding mornings have so many moving pieces, and Theresa has mastered the art of keeping everyone on schedule while still making the experience feel relaxed, enjoyable, and effortless. On our wedding day, everything ran flawlessly. The entire bridal party looked absolutely stunning, the timing was perfect, and the energy in the room remained calm and positive from start to finish. Theresa, thank you for being such a trusted partner, not only for my own wedding, but for so many events over the years. Your talent speaks for itself, but it's your heart, intuition, and dedication to your clients that truly make you exceptional. Khonur Beauty is simply one of the best in the business, and I cannot recommend Theresa and her team highly enough. read more

Kohnur is an excellent company with a heart and care for people. The Founder, Theresa, cares deeply for her clients, team, and vendors. She makes sure that everyone is being taken care of in all aspects. Financially, physically and even spiritually. I haven't seen any company like this. I also appreciate that Theresa cares enough to tell me the truth when certain things don't work out in my best interest... She takes her time to help me and even prays for me & my family! I am truly impressed!! I like that team Kohnur stays on top of the timeline/details to ensure everything turns out easily and smoothly. This is very important as the wedding day can get hectic quickly! The thing I love the most is this company's INTEGRITY. When they promise something, they will deliver! When it comes to the quality of their hair and makeup styling... I'm not someone who wears a lot of makeup. Actually, I'm scared of caked-on makeup! I like my makeup natural yet enhanced, and that's exactly Kohnur's specialty -- they just know how to do it right!! I had the pleasure of using Kohnur for my engagement shoot and wedding day, and I couldn't be happier with their service. My experience with them was seamless and pleasant, thanks to Theresa. She guided me through the entire process and suggested a group of artists to choose from, based on my preferred style and aesthetics. I also appreciated the fact that they use a platform to keep all communication and invoices in one place. This is especially helpful when organizing a wedding with multiple vendors. Kristine was my main point of contact, and she was extremely communicative. She took care of all the logistics for my HMUA trial and wedding day, making sure that both the artists and I had everything we needed. Now onto my makeup artist, Chloe. She is the epitome of professionalism. Chloe was always punctual, attentive to my needs, and open to feedback. Although I didn't have many changes to make, my hair and makeup for both the engagement shoot and wedding were flawless. Chloe brought three other artists to assist on my wedding day, and they were all patient and accommodating with my bridal party's requests. I honestly cannot thank this glam team enough for making me feel the most beautiful I have ever felt. For my cousin's wedding, I had a very specific vision in mind - old Hollywood glamour with rose gold and brown smoky eyes to complement my rose gold beaded gown. Not only did they understand the assignment, they absolutely exceeded every expectation. The attention to detail, the skill, and the care they put into every part of my look was incredible. The moment I looked in the mirror, I was completely blown away. Hands down, this was the best bridal glam I've ever had. The real proof was in everyone's reaction. My family and boyfriend were genuinely in awe when they saw me, and I have never received so many compliments in one day. Even my photos on social media got an insane amount of comments and likes, with so many people asking who did my makeup! When I first met with Theresa, I thought she presented herself well; hair styled, make up nicely done (which is something I wish I can do to myself). And that's a great start. Her studio was also very inviting, it was decorated and designed appropriately. Nothing beats meeting a vendor at their home base where it's comfy yet professional, and clean. Every first impressions count! In terms of the company's forte, they definitely excel in the 'natural, effortless look.' Theresa assigned Tokiko as my hair and makeup artist for my engagement session and wedding day. She's very friendly and kinda school you in about make up which I appreciated a lot! My engagement photos turned out nicely, and I definitely did not look like a different person with all the makeup I have on. Kohnur is a luxury service. Was I concerned about how expensive it was? Yes. Do I have any regrets about booking with them? NOPE! Immediately after I met Theresa for the first time I knew I had found the perfect beauty team for my wedding day. This splurge was absolutely worth it. We had Johanna, Lindsay, Nik and Leslie as our incredible team. The bridal party had nothing but good things to say about how they looked. I can personally attest my hair and makeup wore beautifully throughout the day. My eye makeup and lashes survived my happy tears and was fully in tact before I went to bed that night. Working with their team was a dream, they helped resolve any issues or reservations I had and were flexible on the day of when we found out a member of our party was unable to make it. Can't recommend them enough! read more

I cant say enough great things about Kohnur! As a planner I have worked with many artists and Theresa was truly so great to work with throughout the booking process. She was great at communicating, patient and kind when it came to all my couples questions and concerns. Booking hair and makeup can be nerve wracking as you truly don't know what artist will be the best fit or sometimes even how to describe what look you truly are wanting. Theresa did a great job explaining all of this and matching my bride and her ladies with amazing artists for her welcome party as well as her wedding day. If any brides are wondering if Kohnur Beauty is the right fit, I can truly say you are making a great decision! You will be taken care of from the day you book till the end of your wedding day. read more

Kohnur Bridal Beauty absolutely hit it out of the park for my wedding day! I was so appreciative that I was able to do a couple of trials beforehand, which made me feel so confident and excited going into the big day. Tokiko and Kori were amazing -- they truly made me feel my absolute best. My hair and makeup turned out exactly how I wanted, and I couldn't have been happier with the final look. The entire team was on time, responsive, attentive, and so easy to work with throughout the process. They even provided a thoughtful touch-up kit to help me through the rest of the evening. I'm so grateful for their professionalism and talent, and I would highly recommend Kohnur Bridal Beauty to any bride wanting to feel beautiful and taken care of on her wedding day! read more

Theresa and her team of amazing stylists are absolutely amazing. When planning my wedding, hair, and makeup was one that made me the most nervous. I'm typically very selective and particular when it comes to how my hair and makeup is done - however, Theresa went above and beyond during my trial, and then again at my wedding. Theresa was not only the best stylist I've ever seen, but she was the most personable and easy to work with. She has such an incredible talent and eye for delivering the most personalized look. Theresa and her team gave me and my bridesmaids' such perfect looks that came out stunning in the wedding photos! There is no other stylist I would have picked to do me and my bridesmaids' hair and makeup. read more

I booked Kahn as my main hair and makeup artist for my wedding and can't even begin to describe…read morewhat an amazing job she did! I don't usually wear makeup on day to day basis, so I was looking for someone that could achieve a natural, glowy, k-beauty type look for my wedding. When I saw Kahn's portfolio, I knew she was the one! I booked her first a HMU trial a few months before the big day- I absolutely loved my makeup at the trial but decided I want to go for a different hairstyle after taking some time to think about it. On the day of the wedding, I was honestly a little nervous because I didn't get the chance to try out the new hairstyle, but Kahn understood my vision and delivered exactly what I had asked for (which looked even better than I could've imagined). I truly have never felt so beautiful than on my wedding day, and it's all thanks to her! My only slight qualm with the service as a whole (and not Kahn's fault at all) was that there was a last-minute scheduling conflict and Kahn was unable to stay to do hair and makeup for the rest of the bridal party. However, the agency provided us with an additional HMU artist and offered to have Kahn come back during cocktail hour to do a free touch-up. I appreciate that they offered this concession, because it was great to have her touch up my makeup after shedding some tears at the ceremony. Kahn even offered to touch up the groom, and helped me with my outfit change during that time. The two additional makeup artists (Nikki and Madison) were also great- my mom was extremely happy with her makeup and said it was the best makeup service she's ever received. Overall, working with Kelly Zhang Agency was a smooth process from start to finish and I would 100% choose them again if I had to do it all over.

I was super important for me to work with HMUA who are familiar with Asian features. The studio and Caroline (the account coordinator) was very communicative and clear. I had a few changes in my HMUA. I booked Kelly a few months prior to my wedding and decided to have a HMUA stay longer to assist with touchups. Overall, communication was great and there were no hiccups. As for the service itself, I was nervous for HMUA because I don't wear too much make up and my trial with Kelly the day before my wedding at her studio in Pasadena. At the beginning, Kelly and I chatted about my skin and what I was looking for. I shared some inspo pics and she quickly grasped the ideas of what I was looking for. Kelly is not just a HMUA, but truly cares about those she works with. During my trial, she would checked in with me during the process - asking me if I was comfortable while working on my eyes. Furthermore, I had shared with her that my press-on nails were stressing me out (they kept popping off!) and Kelly immediately called her nail lady to see if she could squeeze me in for an appointment. Within 10 minutes, I was at the nail salon getting my nails done! The day of, Kelly and her team arrived earlier than expected. We had 4 bridesmaids + 2 moms scheduled for Kadet and Maddie. Many members of my bridal party had never gotten their hair & makeup done before; Kadet and Maddie were very skilled in understanding what each person was looking for and executing quickly. My party shared high praises for both! Since Kelly and I worked the day before, I had an idea on what to expect. We made a few tweaks the day of - the falsies kept bother my eyes and Kelly kept tweaking them until they were perfect and comfortable. I also initially wanted more blush and Kelly was willing to add more, but advised to just sit in the makeup before making any changes. She was right! After sitting with the makeup for a bit, the balance of it all felt perfect. It turned out perfect and what I wanted - fresh and natural and looking like myself. I appreciate Kelly sharing her expertise while still being open to changes. She was a pleasure to work with a calming presence that make the wedding morning flow smoothly. I would recommend Kelly and her team to any brides that are looking for HMUA that is skilled in Asian features. All members of my bridal party were glammed and comfortable. Thank you so much to Kelly, Kadet, and Maddie for helping us look our best!

As for me, I had a makeup trial (which I high recommend) and it allowed me to see what I thought I wanted but didn't like. Our shared bride, Caitie, as well as all her bridesmaids, looked absolutely stunning! I've worked many weddings but was very taken aback at how glowy and seamless all of their hair and makeup was at this event. Normally after standing in the sun and dancing, the wedding party begins to look a bit weathered with natural wear and tear on the overall look, especially with eye shadow smearing, etc. Cynthia and her team, on the other hand, did FANTASTIC work, with everyone looking flawless until the very end of the night! Her and her team have such a beautiful talent of accentuating each woman's natural beauty and features while still keeping everthing natural, but elevated. The blush, the highlight, and more specifically the EYES were all just perfect throughout the entire day. I wish I'd known about this team before my own wedding in 2024, and I will absolutely be referring her to all our future clients.

The trial felt like a group project where you're the ideas person, and Christy just brings your vision to life. I started by sharing my makeup preferences and Pinterest boards, then Christy got to work! Starting off with the hair, Christy was such a perfectionist in getting every curl the fall exactly how it was pictured. She gave me different options about how slicked back and how the face framing pieces should fall. When we got to doing the makeup, Christy had a look at the inspiration photos and chose the colors that would suit my skin tone and features the best. She was meticulous about choosing the right individual lash lengths and choosing the right makeup technique for my hooded eyes. As someone who doesn't wear a lot of makeup day to day, she made the process so easy! When it came to the wedding day, Christy and her team were there bright and early, and made the getting ready portion so seamless. My MOH asked for a barely-there makeup look, and Christy executed her hair and makeup perfectly. Christy included a touchup kit, which was such a nice surprise. Hire Christy for your wedding day! We had a trial session where I met Manning, and she was so warm, chatty, and approachable from the very beginning. The session was lengthy (I think 4 hours?), but it flew by quickly because we were having a nice time. On the actual wedding day, Manning and her team graciously accommodated to the chaos of the situation (I have a toddler at home, and we had just moved to a new house with minimal furniture - and should I mention I accidentally overslept as well??). She also gave my hair the small special touches I didn't know it needed by fashioning a hair piece from some florals I already had at home for my tea ceremony, and also magically produced another beautiful hair piece that would match my bridal dress. She literally saved my hair that day!! My bridal party was very satisfied with their hair & makeup, and everyone's H&M lasted for more than 12 hours on the big day with minimal touch ups. I was given a bridal touch-up kit as well, which was so thoughtful and had everything I needed. I appreciate Manning's detailed makeup and hair technique - she really makes you look like the elevated and best version of you in a very natural way. I'll remember how she patiently added small bunches of fake lashes with artistic care so it looks like I had been blessed with good eyelash genes naturally. That said, if you are into very heavy, dense makeup with giant false lashes that will give the very drastic "before" and "after" look, then this is not for you (but why would you want that for your wedding anyways). As you can imagine, booking HMU for a summer wedding LA of the same year was quite stressful. I had begun having wedding nightmares that I forgot to book someone and that my HMU was done etc. Enter Stephanie and AB. I am absolutely THRILLED that she was available. Stephanie was on MU and Michelle on hair. Stephanie is an absolute professional, she has SO much experience, not just in weddings, but other events. Given her experience and skill level, she really should not be as relatable as she is. My trial was wonderful, she really takes the brides feedback to heart. If you want full glam, she's got it. If you want natural, she's got it. If you have a specific lipstick shade you want, done. Michelle, on hair, was the same. She even did two separate looks on me because we had time and I had no idea what I wanted. I ended up doing a second hair trial because I was anxious and indecisive. I'm so glad I did because I was so so happy with my hair. During the wedding: They were flexible and brought the calmest energy. Mom LOVED her HMU. We had some things go wrong, nothing major, but we were tight on our schedule and they both pitched in to help with steaming the dress and playing bouncer in the brides suite. I had asked them to stay because we had the hottest weather and Stephanie realized that I didn't need to pay extra for two people and so only she stayed. It was really thoughtful. AB had already made me feel like family and not just client, but that gesture to be kind to my wallet was really touching. TLDR: Stephanie and Michelle are excellent at what they do. They communicated well before the wedding. AB is midpriced (from my vantage point), but massive value for money. They're conscientious, kind, and professional. They're skilled on young and more mature skin and hair. They're skilled on light and dark skin tones (we had white, southeast asian, and Korean). They do mens grooming. I'm thrilled I went with AB beauty for HMU.
