Thank goodness I found Kohnur Beauty. When planning my wedding in 2019, I wanted to make sure I found an HMUA that had experience working with my features (almond eye shape, dry skin, thick hair) so I did a lot of research. My correspondences with Theresa and my hair and make-up trial with Fennie went great! They were easy to work with in tweaking the look to exactly how I had envisioned and it was so hard to choose between the two beautiful hairstyles we tried. As the Big Day (February 2020) drew closer, Theresa sent me an organized schedule for hair and make-up for me, my 9 bridesmaids, my mom, mother in law, and sister in law! Unfortunately, tragedy struck and my husband passed away before the big day and the wedding was cancelled. Fast-forward a couple of months later and I decided I wanted to gift myself with a bridal photoshoot with as many as the original elements of the wedding we planned. I contacted Theresa and Fennie and I was glad to hear that their COVID-precaution friendly business was scheduled. Fennie remembered and executed my hair and make-up exactly the way I wanted even if our trial was over a whole year ago. I am so happy I splurged for Kohnur Beauty and will definitely keep them in mind for any future hair and make-up needs read more

Now that my wedding photos are in... I can finally post my raving review for Kohnur-- specifically Tokiko! She is the sweetest, most creative, thorough, absolutely fantastic hair and make up artist! I didn't have a HMU preview due to financial constructions but I knew I was in good hands. Tokiko did my HMU for my engagement photos and I was obsessed. I knew I had to book her again for my wedding! I have one mono lid eye and one double lid eye but she was able to make me look flawless. I got compliments all day long and even to this day people are still swooning over my HMU. Theresa-- Owner and organizer of Kohnur made it extremely easy for me despite my constant changes to the HMU roaster. She kept the communication open which made me feel heard and understood. She helped me choose the right HMU artists for me and my crew! Highly HIGHLY recommended !! read more

I loved having the Kohnur team by my side at my wedding. I had 8 bridesmaids, so they did all of the hair and makeup for them as well. It was absolutely gorgeous and stress free. They created a portal for everyone's styles for hair and makeup and it was so easy to navigate. I also did a hair and makeup trial before my wedding too-which I highly suggest just so you get an idea of what you like! Shout out to Tokiko-thank you so much for making me feel like an absolute princess and bride. read more

I am delighted to share my experience working with Kohnur! From the moment I spoke with the Founder, Theresa, I knew I would be in good hands. Her warm and welcoming demeanor put me at ease; she understood my vision and concerns, then provided insightful recommendations to help enhance my beautiful journey! I am simply impressed that they can make natural makeup look so good and so special! WOW is all I can say! :) They are dedicated and make sure everything is done with care and passion! I appreciate the extra mile they took to take care of everyone and make sure everyone's happy and satisfied, from bridesmaids, and moms, to flower girls. No one was left out. A truly exceptional beauty experience that exceeded expectations!! I highly recommend Kohnur to any bride-to-be or anyone who wants to be an elevated version of herself. Can't say enough amazing things about this company as well as Fennie, who did my hair and makeup for my engagement photos, wedding rehearsal dinner and wedding. Fennie understood exactly what I wanted for each occasion and executed perfectly. She was so sweet and really listened to my vision. I felt like a more elevated version of myself which I loved. My bridesmaids, mom, and mother in law also had incredible experiences with the Kohnur team on my wedding day. Everyone was thrilled with their looks! read more

Theresa and her team are so incredibly talented! I started with a one-on-one with Theresa to review what I was looking for. She'll send over a Google Doc for you to fill out so her team will know exactly what look and feel you're aiming to achieve. The open communication and quick responsiveness were extremely helpful during my wedding planning season. Michelle was my makeup artist and she was so amazing! Kind, humble, and detailed, she made getting my makeup done so easy and relaxing. She would listen to my concerns and would make adjustments to anything I needed changes on. I loved that my makeup stayed on all day and how she was so helpful and professional. Overall, highly recommend and thank you to Kohnur for making my wedding day so memorable! read more

I had the most wonderful experience with Kohnur Beauty for my Palm Springs wedding, thanks to Theresa and my incredible makeup artist, Joanna. After a terrible experience with a trial at another beauty agency, where I felt rushed and unheard, working with Joanna was a breath of fresh air. From the very beginning at my trial with her, Joanna was calm, patient, and truly listened to me. She allowed me to experiment with multiple looks and hairstyles without ever making me feel rushed or uncomfortable. On the wedding day, she brought my vision to life with hair and makeup that were elegant, timeless, and natural. Joanna's attention to detail and calm energy made the entire process enjoyable and stress-free. I felt absolutely stunning, and I'm so grateful for her expertise and professionalism. I also really appreciate how involved Joanna was from day one of the process. During our initial consultation, she spent an hour getting to know me and understand my vision. She provided me with a mood board to visualize my ideas and provide inspiration, and checked up with me regularly leading up to the wedding. Kohnur beauty was a dream to work with for my special day. read more

Before I booked Kohnur for my wedding, I was lucky enough to have my makeup done by their artists for two other weddings where I was a bridesmaid. The artists did such an amazing job -- I loved my hair + makeup for both weddings, which also lasted all day through photos and all night through dancing! My two friends had Tokiko (one of Kohnur's lead artists) do their bridal makeup, so I was really excited to find out she was available for my wedding too. I scheduled a trial for our engagement photos and was so blown away by Tokiko's work!! I've never felt so beautiful before, but even more importantly, I still felt like myself. I opted to try the airbrush and it was so worth it! I don't normally wear makeup and the airbrush felt so light and natural. My husband and I went to Disneyland for our engagement photos and the trial makeup lasted through us running through the park! On our wedding day, Tokiko and the Kohnur team arrived early to set-up so they were able to start on time for all bridesmaids and family members. Again, Tokiko was just the best!! Not only did she do an amazing job with my bridal makeup, but she also did such beautiful hair and makeup for my mom! Also, I had Tokiko stay for a second look and touch-ups until after the ceremony. I highly recommend doing this if you can!! Tokiko was a true gem and no smudge or stray hair got away from her! ** TLDR ** Book Tokiko + Kohnur -- they are kind, detailed and so talented! I thought the airbrush upgrade + touch-ups were so worth it! You won't regret it! read more

I chose Kohnur because my photographer recommended them. I got my hair and makeup done for photos and I couldn't be happier! I'm definitely going to book Aveline for any special event because she was attentive to my requests and so sweet. Thank you! read more

My bridal makeup artist for my big day was Fennie and she did absolutely amazing. She was super meticulous with her work and make sure to continuously touch me up as needed. I loved how she even left me with my own touch up kit after she left so I was able to look fresh for the whole night! Overall 10/10 experience! read more

We evaluated several hair & makeup vendors for my daughter's wedding, and there was something special about Theresa from the moment I was in contact with her. She was warm and took the time to listen to our requirements, was easy to reach, highly communicative and organized, and won our trust quickly! Her process involves getting everyone's preferences for hair & makeup...and boy, did her pros execute to perfection! She assembled a truly winning team for the entire bridal party, and the bride (my daughter), looked stunning! There were 10 girls altogether, and we were all ready on time. I highly endorse Kohnur and recommend Theresa and her team for your hair and makeup needs, especially for such a momentous occasion. I guarantee you will be completely satisfied! read more

I hired Kohnur to do my hair and makeup for my baby shower. I live in San Diego and it's hard to find a makeup artist who caters to Asian people (especially the way our eyes are shaped). Chole came all the way from LA to SD. She arrived and finished the whole process on time. She was very attentive and she checked many times to make sure I liked the color of eye shadows, thickness of eyelashes, and lip colors - which I really appreciated. I can't wait to see pictures from the event because my guests told me my makeup and hair looked really good. read more

Kohnur's team does an amazing job with natural hair and makeup. Our company had booked them for a photo shoot to update our headshots and group photos. Tobiko definitely has an eye on what type of color and makeup works well with your skin. From the winged eyeliner to the soft glam eyeshadow, it was beautiful. I loved how natural my makeup looked and it was not cakey or thick at all. For my hair, I requested a half-up and half-down hairstyle and Chloe was so quick to put it together. Although our photoshoot was on a windy day by the ocean, my curls stayed throughout the whole day/photo shoot. Very grateful for Kohnur's team and would highly recommend booking them for your special day. You can definitely trust the team to make you feel special and look beautiful. read more

I booked Kohnur for my engagement shoot preview and now, have absolute confidence in moving forward with locking them in for my wedding day. :) Everyone here has been fantastic and exceeded my expectations across all fronts. From day 1, Theresa has been warm, authentic and super responsive throughout the process - which is so much appreciated! (This also applies to Jillian!) For you brides reading, I know you know how much authenticity and responsiveness are so key for anything wedding planning! Fennie did my make up and hair, and I could not be more pleased. Truly! I have always been a bit reluctant when I get my makeup and hair done because in the past, artists have tended to over/under accentuate areas that that didn't feel natural to "me." (I also felt they made me look "TOO Asian" with the eyes and brows - iykyk.) This was not the case with Fennie. She perfectly balanced everything and I loved the natural and effortless look she gave me, while enhancing all my features. Thank you (Theresa, Jillian and Fennie) for an exceptional experience, and looking forward to pt 2. on the wedding day!! Photos to come following ;) read more

So happy with the stellar service and level of detail put into the HMU for my wedding, including for myself, my bridesmaids, and my mother. I am someone who does not routinely wear makeup so I really wanted a lot of guidance/suggestions from the Kohnur team. From the initial meet and greet with Theresa, Pinterest boards and real life examples to help me narrow down what I wanted, the convenience of an at-home HMU trial with Tokiko which I was able to arrange for the same day as one of my wedding dress fittings, and the professionalism of Tokiko and Jin on the day of the event, I cannot say enough positive things. The sentiment was the same from the rest of the bridal party. I got the airbrush upgrade which was 100% worth it - I didn't even feel like I was wearing makeup. They gave great tips on the day of and a touch-up kit that came in handy. My HMU lasted the whole day and night and I didn't even have to think about it and I felt like a totally elevated but natural version of myself! Thank you so much for being part of my big day! read more

We were so grateful to have Tokiko and her team for our wedding. I first booked Kohnur for my wedding 4 years ago. Their team did HMU for me, my 6 bridesmaids and the moms. Tokiko is amazing, and my friends also rave about Fennie to this day. I recently booked Kohnur for HMU for a gala and Grace made me look and feel so beautiful. She was fast and did a great job. She also did my husband's hair! Everything was easy to schedule and coordinate. Theresa, the founder, is amazing to work with. I highly recommend this team, they really listen to what you want and know how to highlight your natural beauty! read more

Teresa is so easy to talk to and so incredible at figuring out what I wanted for my bridal look and Ericka is so helpful with everything leading up to the big day. Tokiko my artist is the best, coolest, nicest, most talented person!!!!! I looked STUNNING according to my husband, mom, bridesmaids, and guests (and I tend to agree). She really worked with my indecisiveness and helped me nail a look that is natural yet enhanced. Also so helpful to have Asian make up artists as an Asian woman myself. All my bridesmaids looked GORG and they were so pleased with their looks and same for my mom. 10/10 would recommend!!! read more

I have been in the industry for a while now and have always referred Kohnur to my clients as I've always heard great feedback from my clients and their satisfaction. It was finally my turn to be able to use them to my hair and makeup for a special occasion and Michelle who did my hair and makeup did an amazing job! I honestly am so grateful for her, she made me feel so comfortable and was great at communicating with me on what I would like. Thanks so much Theresa and Michelle! read more

I worked with Kohnur for my wedding and loved it! Tokiko did my bridal makeup and she was so sweet and talented. Highly recommend!

As a wedding planner brides always ask for hair and makeup recommendations for the big day and Kohnur is always my number one recommendation! Not only is the final product stunning, but the artists they use are so nice. They not only ask for pictures and listen to what you want but then ask questions to make sure your vision comes to life! In addition to trusting Kohnur with our brides anytime we do a team photoshoot they are our first call and never disappointment! Thank you Kohnur for always being a joy to work with!! read more

This review is long overdue. My wedding ceremony was in June 2017 and my stylist was Tokiko. She was fun and fantastic to work with. I was going for a natural look and she did just that! Tokiko asked all the right questions since I didn't know exactly how to describe what I was looking for. She listened and magically translated what I said into reality. She also worked miracles with my short hair! Kohnur was definitely worth the money!! At the time, Caroline Tsai was the studio director and did all the coordinating. She was very responsive and she took the time to fully understand what I was looking for. I hired Kohnur for a short, weekday wedding ceremony in Santa Barbara. Since I wasn't having a reception, I didn't need my makeup to last a full day and didn't really need the full bridal makeup service. Caroline listened and gave me a very reasonable price. I ended up picking Kohnur because they provided the best price among the various popular Asian makeup artists in the LA area. I did end up spending more on the trial that I traveled to from NYC and Tokiko's travel cost the day of. I'm just really glad I went with Kohnur! read more

The Kohnur team had been amazing during my entire wedding process. Theresa is incredibly sweet and attentive to the needs of her clients. After my consultation with Theresa, I knew immediately that I was going to be in good hands. I trusted the Kohnur team with my bridal hair and makeup as well as my wedding party's - which included 6 bridesmaids, a junior bridesmaid, my sister, my mom, and my mother in law. The Kohnur team arrived the day of the wedding promptly to the bridal suite and they were so kind and professional. They worked with what each client was asking for and I couldn't have been happier with the end results. I had the pleasure of having Theresa herself do my bridal hair and makeup and it was better than what I envisioned! My photographer even noted how impressed she was that the team of hair and makeup artists were on schedule considering the size of our group. With all of the stressful details of planning a wedding, hair and makeup was not something I wanted to worry about on the big day. Theresa is incredibly organized and she is there through the entire process. I had such a great experience with Kohnur and am now utilizing them again for my upcoming maternity photos! I can't recommend Kohnur enough. I will definitely be using them for any future events. read more

Kohnur - Amazing bridal makeup by Tokiko!!!!! I love it! - Makeup Artists Near Me

I traveled to Laguna for my wedding and had scoured hair/makeup artists in S. Cali for months. My research was thorough, and I sought someone who is able to provide personalized service and can enhance Asian features. And Kohnur did just that! Some competitors were unresponsive or impersonal, and others simply provided links to extensive galleries and an array of artists to select from, but it's extremely difficult to make a decision from a cookie cutter approach. Theresa, on the other hand, quickly set up a video call and went above and beyond to get to know me, understand my vision, and provide a thoughtful recommendation. I was nervous and appreciated the hand-held approach. Theresa was very personable and consultative and paired me with lead artist, Tokiko who was wonderful and had expert artistry and skill. We connected so well. During my trial, I felt completely at ease and enjoyed the experience. Tokiko was intuitive, and our session was efficient. On my big day, Tokiko and Sandy were punctual. Both are patient, detailed, and really care about their work. Tokiko did an amazing job with a natural glam bridal look, and Sandy was an absolute maven working with the mothers (who are not easy) and ensuring their satisfaction. The entire team is kind and wonderful. Kohnur may not be the least expensive provider on the block, but their premier experience and the peace of mind is truly invaluable. They are the gold standard. Choose Kohnur for your special event! read more

I've had such a great experience with the Kohnur team so far! Theresa is so lovely & from the first time we spoke, made me feel like Kohnur was the best choice for my wedding. We had a team photo shoot and being that many of us aren't big makeup people, Kohnur's team did an amazing job making all of us look glammed and natural. Theresa was absolutely wonderful from the beginning. She helped me decide what was best for my ideas for what I wanted with my hair and makeup. She was so understanding when we had to postpone our wedding due to the pandemic and was able to work with our new date. Which I am excited to say is quickly approaching. I had my bridal hair and makeup preview on Friday. My stylist was Fennie. She was fantastic. She took my inspiration photos and worked magic to reflect them onto me. She was able work with my dry skin and acne without making me look cakey. It was such a wonderful experience and I can't wait for my wedding day when I can do it again! read more

Had my hair and makeup trial done yesterday by Tokiko! First off this place is super cute and loved the sweet clean romantic decor. It was placed in such an intimate and personalized setting with my mua and hair dresser! Tokiko was a delight to work with and made me feel comfortable. I'm not really much of a hair and makeup person and she guided me so well and I am so happy with the look I'll be going for on my wedding day! I cannot wait to see what it'll look like on the actual day alongside with the bridal party. All in all great service for the preview and they were very accommodating to me as I had a very short time window to get a preview appointment done on my trip here. read more

I was referred to Theresa Huang's Kohnur Premier Beauty by our photographer Tiffany Wu. I was extremely pleased with her suggestion! Before the session, Theresa was quick to respond, ask solid questions about what I was looking for, and offer suggestions. She was quick to stress that my preferences mattered most. Theresa had her stylist Michelle work with me. I really enjoyed Michelle's attitude and her excellent work. She really is a genius when it comes to hair and makeup. Since I rarely wear makeup, a soft, natural look was extremely important to me. Michelle was flexible and ready to listen. I could tell she wasn't going to let me leave until everything was perfect, which I deeply appreciate. The only other time I have had my hair and makeup done was my wedding. Michelle was friendly and down-to-earth. She has an easy laugh which made the three hours of relaxing treatment go by too quickly. I kept repeating to my husband "I don't remember the last time I felt so taken care of." What an absolute treat! I know that the next time I do some pictures, she will be my first call! read more

I booked Kohnur Premier Beauty for my wedding day and could not have been happier from start to finish! Theresa and Tokiko were an absolute dream to work with. Theresa was very professional and really listened to my needs and concerns since I had never gotten my hair and makeup done professionally before. She matched me perfectly with Tokiko as my makeup artist for my wedding day. I set up a trial with Tokiko, and I'm so glad I did and highly recommend anyone thinking of skipping the trial to definitely do it! Shortly after the trial, I found out that I'm allergic to some makeup products, so Tokiko worked with me to perfect what skincare and makeup products we would use for my wedding day. Theresa even reached out to me to make sure I was doing okay which was so sweet of her. Everyone at Kohnur Premier Beauty really cares about their clients. On my actual wedding day, Tokiko adjusted a few things with my hair and makeup, and the end result was actually what I had pictured in my mind for the big day. I was the best version of myself.
