i had the most horrible experience at this store. i was thinking of treating myself to some lotions by christy brinkley that kohl's had on display. i picked up two boxes, one felt like it was empty and i could tell that someone had opened the box previously so i opened the box to make sure the product was still inside. the product was inside, but it was such a small tube of cream that it felt like there was nothing in the box and it was $60.00. i was walking towards the cashier and then decided that it really wasn't worth the $60.00. i sat the two boxes down on a table that displayed some jewelry and then left the store. i had just reached my car when two young looking men approached me all smiles and giggles and asked if they could speak with me. i thought that they were going to ask me for money or to buy something. i said what do you need. very pleasantly they asked if they could speak with me. i said okay, they then asked if i would speak with them inside the store. i said yes, after all i had nothing to hide or worry about. when we walked into the store with smiles on their faces, they asked me to accompany them into this room which i did. these two men never told me who they were, i soon realized that they were the loss prevention employees, after they began threatening me. they said if i did not admit to stealing the merchandise and return it that they would call the police. i said i have not taken anything from the store and i emptied my purse on the floor and pulled my jean pockets inside out. the very rude and bullying young man asked me my name which i told him, i in return asked for his name which was brandon. he continued to insist that he had me on video stealing the lotion, i informed him that i had set the box of lotion down and where i had sat it . he told me the box was empty and that if i did not admit to taking it he was calling the police. it was at this point that i told him to recheck the box and get his manager and call the police, i did not have the merchandise. he left the room for a few short minutes, but locked the door from the outside. he came back and was rude and threatening again demanding the merchandise. i requested that he call his manager and the police again. he left me in the room with the other young man and locked the door from the outside. i then took my cellphone out and callled my daughter to ask her to text me an attorney.s phone number. as i was speaking to her the other young man insisted that i could not be on my phone. i continued to speak with my daughter, requesting that she text me the number. at this point i told the young man that he was not an officer of the law, i had not been read my rights or charged with a crime. he then attempted to take my phone from me. at this point brandon came back into the room and said that the police were 15 minutes out and because the item was only $20.00 they were letting me go. the item in question was actually $60.00. i again asked for his manager. brandon told me he wanted me to leave his store. i then walked out the door and proceded to call the corporate office for kohl's and wait for the police to arrive. my 40 year old son and 28 year old daughter arrived at the store to check on me. my son then had me go back into the store and request to speak to the manager, who was polite, i told her the whole story and said i wanted an appology from brandon. she said that she was not brandon's manager but would get him. she then left to go get brandon's manager, who never came. brandon came, he then said lets talk outside. we walked outside the store were brandon again became rude and refused to appology for detainning me, threatening me, and calling me a theif my daughter was video taping him as he was telling my two adult children , customers coming in and going out of the store, and customers in the parking lot that i was crazy and that is why he let me go. he also stated that i was 110% a theif. i feel humilated, embaressed and my character was basically assasinated by this bully who works for kohl's. my children cut up their kohl's charge cards. i will never shop in this store again. i am 61 and realize that mistakes are made. but kohl;s should have issued me an appology for the horrible mistake that their employee brandon made. i have never been treated so bad by a company in my life. everyone needs to beware of the injustice and defimation of character they could face when shopping at this store. when a customer requests to speak to a manager regarding their employee said manager should make their selves available. i have contacted corporate, but not holding out for any appology since someone at corporate has set the guidelines down for these mangers to follow. they will never get another penny from me or my family. three of my friends have just informed me that they will never shop at kohl's again. read more
