It is not often that I get the chance to remember that yes, the Kogi trucks do visit the SFV. This is the innovation of Chef Roy Choi that became the genesis of food trucks, a la Los Angeles. He is a pioneer, extraordinaire. Chef Choi's rendering of street food with LA roots and Korean influence, catapulted his vision to the culinary stratosphere. Brick and mortar establishments followed in the dining capitals of New York, Las Vegas, and yes, Los Angeles. In all this fanfare of fame and fortune, I must still say that the Kogi food trucks still persevere. This has gone downhill. Got the short rib tacos were dry and hard. Even powdery. The seasoning was so salty. Service was not bad. Nothing polite or bad. The food was ready very quickly, but I wonder if the meat may have sat out for some time to make it so hard and dry. read more

I come here almost every Weds when they're in town and it's something I look forward to! I typically order a short rib quesadilla with slaw and salsa on the side. My order is usually always correct with a few slips here and there which is no big deal. Sometimes when I get my quesadilla or short rib tacos, there's a lot of gristle meat which is a bummer but I guess that's the risk you take for food truck food. Sometimes the truck starts service a little late which I get but a couple of times it was like 10-15 mins past the start time and we were waiting in the pouring rain! I'm sure they saw us? Ever since they became a thing, I've always raved about this truck and constantly check their schedule to recommend it to friends and family nearby. It's been so long since we've had it so my bf and I decided to go after work for our dinner. I always go for the Blackjack Quesadilla and I am terrible with spice so I always slow down after the first slice because it's just too spicy for me. BUT absolutely delicious as always. I got it again this time and always ask for extra sauce on the side. Their verde is amazing. Perfect citrus/garlic flavor. I asked for extra on the side again and he gave me two! I thought it would be too much but it's literally perfect. I dip my slices so frequent that 2 of the sauces really do the trick. My bf decided to try the Pac-Man burger this time and boy was it messy. It is such a loaded and super saucy burger but absolutely delicious. If you can catch this recycle you can get some amazing tacos. Korean fusion style with a delicious salad slaw and well done seasoned grilled meats compliment their flat top street tortillas. Oh sweet Kogi! I am here tonight and using the Uber Eats app for pick up/walk up. This is a wonderful and Covid safe option. We did not pay anything extra for pick up via UberEats and even saved 5% with our pass. I am enjoying the blackjack quesadilla while my husband has the short rib burrito. Both are nothing short of delicious. A wonderful American-Korean mash up is how Roy delivers this divinity to our plates. Roy Choi's chef skills are on full display with a Kogi truck visit. Uber Eats allowed us to tip the restaurant and claims to keep none of the money. If true, nice to see Uber doing something good. The truck opened up 1hr later than the time posted. The service was not good and I was even overcharged. The food was even worse, there were pieces of bone and fat in the short rib tacos and the meat tasted cold and stale. The ambience is that of a food truck on the street, so that is not great either. Kogi BBQ Truck has always been our favorite food truck and glad it's survived past the decline of the Food Trucks and the Pandemic. The short rib tacos are good, but its the Pac-Man quesadillas that are my main order -- all meats (short rib, spicy pork and chicken) on the inside, sesame mayo and all salsas (verde, naranja and azul) on the outside. it's a total flavor overload and never disappoints. Order too much and can't finish, put it in the fridge and microwave next day and it's great all over. I like that the prices has stayed reasonable. Why is this food truck SO GOOD!!!!! Chef Roy Choi is a genius. I crave this place almost weekly, even writing about it is making my stomach growl ;) I always need to get the blackjack quesadilla, it's sooooo good, the sauce it comes with is amazing, the pork inside is so good, the outside is crispy. It's the best quesadilla ever (5 stars) Short Rib taco (5 stars): Soo good, meat is tender and super flavorful, the salsa's are the best!!! The slaw that comes with it completes everything! I got the #3 combo one time which is great, the quesadilla, taco and a drink. I need to try other things, but I never stray away from the quesadilla for some reason, it's just too good to pass up!! I need to try the chilaquiles, wet burrito, pacman burger and other quesadillas soon, one of my favorite places to eat!! They accept credit cards too which is a good thing, fairly fast with the food too. While I do not understand the thirst & the craving of Kogi, I did find it to good change of style burrito. I got the pastor taco and short rib burrito. The burrito has eggs in it which was surprising. Both menu items & drink totaled to under $10 and I left full . I really enjoyed the pastor taco! They were marinated really well & had a good kick to them. The short rib burrito was decent. I wish I got all pastor in the items. Our order was ready within 10 minutes (sounds like record time compared to other reviews) but due to a mix up in names we didn't actually get it until 15 minutes when we went up to window to verify if they were saying the correct name, which they weren't but besides that small hiccup our experience was good and the food GREAT! I think this place is all hype, I was kinda excited to see this truck parked at Chatsworth Blvd in Granada Hills and decided to try this place out for dinner. The truck itself was kinda run down, the cashier speaks very limited english, so far so good. I ordered some calamari tacos and the price in the menu board shows $4.00 but they actually charge $5.00 per taco, cashier said "$1.00 extra, you understand" I didn't want to carry further conversation with this cashier, so I just waited for my food. The things that I noticed was that the cashier, who was taking, counting money had side stepped and grabbed a handful of grated cheese and sprinkled over the food, used his bare hands handling ingredients of the food....without gloves or cleaning hands before. Hey, taco stands in Tijuana was LITTLE more conscious about cleanliness. Trust me, any other taco trucks in your neighborhood serve better tacos at half the price. Sigh, disappointment, esp after reading the glowing Yelp reviews... Gotta be honest here, folks, and reel expectations back down from stratospheric dizzying heights for the benefit of future Yelp readers. So I was passing by on a Wednesday evening, and spotted the Kogi BBQ truck with about 10 customers in front. A crowd is always a good sign and I'm thinking "cool!" since the Granada Hills Friday Nite Roach Coach Rally was a few days off and I could finally give them a try (Kogi were a 'no-show' the last Friday night I came out). Excited to finally give them a try, I ordered one spicy pork taco and one short rib taco (both with kimchi). After a bit of a wait, they called out my name. Yum! A few bites later, and OK, sure, they were spicy, but after getting over the sleight of tongue (is prestilinguation a word?) I asked myself: WHERE is the substance, the distinctive taste of flavorful meaty Korean BBQ? Heck, the kimchi had the flavor of spices, yes, but little of the characteristic taste of cabbage, the main ingredient. Sure, there was plenty of "bang" in the tacos (thanks to generous application of chili powder and other spices), but it seemed more like a fireworks show viewed in black-and-white (if they weren't freaked out by the loud noises, think of a color-blind dog watching a fireworks show), rather than seeing it with the full-spectrum of colors. And some $6 later, I was still hungry, since the tacos were TINY (more like appetizers). I could've eaten 4 and I'd barely be full (and I'm not a big eater, by ANY stretch of the imagination and/or stomach). I dunno, maybe I'm just spoiled with a great lil' Korean BBQ place nearby that offers a great Korean BBQ taco (ZingGa Grill in Canyon County: look it up on Yelp, if you're in the area...), but Kogi BBQ truck was somewhat of a let-down, and simply too skimpy on the meat.... read more
