I've been attending CrossFit Central for the last four months and have had such an awesome experience there. This gym is very intense in comparison to other CrossFit gyms I have been to and the workouts reflect that. I am not a beginning so I can't speak to the perspective of someone coming in new but for someone who has been doing CrossFit for many years this was a great experience. The coaches are all very friendly and really take the time to help you work on form and safety during the lift portion of the work out. During the WOD alternative movements are readily available (although not encouraged unless required) which I think is a good approach to make sure people are pushing themselves to get better and improve. The membership is expensive in comparison to some other gyms in the area but I think you really do get what you pay for here and it is very much worth it if you are willing to dedicate the time to go three or more times a week. It's also a huge bonus that they bill weekly rather than monthly so if you are traveling you can take a week off without feeling like you're missing out. I'm sad to have to leave this gym but I am moving across town and so I won't be able to come regularly. Highly recommend to anyone interested or visiting town. read more

This place is still a big disappointment. There have been no improvements. The workouts are still weak.

My go-to CrossFit gym!! Love the vibe, the coaches are amazing and the workouts are fun, epic, and for everyone. Whether you're new to the sport, or a veteran, you'll feel welcomed and inspired. There's pickleball courts, fire + ice sessions, and personal training. You got everything. Love it. Bravo! read more

I have truly enjoyed my five years here and look forward to adding more. Coach Eva specifically has made it such a safe and inspiring place as a female to move my body outside of my comfort zone in a healthy way. The community she has made for women, all ages and fitness levels, here at crossfit central is incredible. She has created a supportive environment that makes it so exciting to show up. Eva is your biggest cheerleader that WANTS to be in your corner. Thank you Eva for your unwavering support and always believing in me. You make hard things fun! read more

Best cf gym in the area. I recommend it to everyone. Good programming and good peeps!

I stopped in a drop in while in Austin for the night. I was greeted shortly after I walked in the door. Once I let them know I was a drop in they welcomed me and asked basic questions like "where are you from?" And "how long have you been doing CrossFit?" Once Megan, the trainer arrived she introduced herself and was very bubbly. I took the women's only class since that isn't an option at the current box I go to. The class itself was challenging and great, but it was different that I'm accustomed to. Not better or worse, just different. I will say the programming moved quite quickly. Disclaimer--I've only been doing CrossFit for 4 months so it could have been me. Megan remained very helpful and enthusiastic during the warm up and workout. Overall, I really liked CrossFit Central. I loved the dogs and the box was beautiful!! Great experience overall! read more

Eva is an amazing coach! I've seen a huge change in my strength and physique since starting here. If you've never done CrossFit I highly recommend this place read more

Best culture -- helped get me motivated to get in the best shape of my life with the most encouraging trainers -- shout out Coach Eva!!!

I've been going to CrossFit Central for a few years now. The downtown location is very convenient and the coaching staff and very dedicated and passionate. Extra kudos to Eva! read more

Since I have started going to crossfit central, the staff has been so supportive to my goals that I have set since I first walked in. My accountability coach Eva, has really kept me on track, the positively and consistency is what keeps me coming back. The energy is always high every single class. read more

Wow! Most unfriendly gym I have ever dropped into. Coaches didn't say one word to me, and were annoyed when asked a question. If you actually want coached find another gym. Clearly don't want new members. Never been to a CrossFit gym with such a poor atmosphere! read more

They won't tell you on the phone how much it is. They want to meet and give you this "We are so great" sells pitch. It'a 180.00 a month plus approximately $160 or so for onboarding. About 350.00 total sign up cost but I decided to give it a try. Worse mistake ever. At first it seems great but then you start to see the business for what it is. You have to commit to 3, 6 or 12 months. When contract is up it automatically renews. Make sure you read the contract well before signing. They are always bugging people to make positive post on FB and write positive reviews on Google. Of course to promote their business It's not about the client. Trying to cancel is like trying to bust out jail. read more

Our group from NYC dropped in last month because we were in town for our friend Josh's wedding. It was easy to sign in online, just turned out that the day we dropped in, there were many other drop ins from out of town as well. I'm from NY and our box is small- we're in a tiny basement in Chinatown. It's cool that there is also a cafe inside. When we got here, we saw how high the ceilings were, how many rigs and just how much space they had here to work out. It's beautiful! The coaches here are really good and gave great tips on how to improve at whatever level of fitness you are at. We had a hard wod that day, but our group really enjoyed it. Welcoming coaches and members- if we find ourselves back in Austin, this will definitely be on our list again. Thanks for the hospitality! read more

Horrible culture full of entitled, unprofessional coaches and people. I was excited to try out a new gym but I'm not going to renew my membership after two months of consistently being frustrated and disgusted by the staff's personalities and treatment of clients. I have not had one conversation with a coach who wasn't condescending and totally delusional in their idea of fitness. I have very clear goals for myself that I brought up in my original consultation, which ended up being a total waste of time seeing as they didn't seem interested in helping me achieve what I want for myself. They also blast gospel music during workouts, which I and a few others in my classes have found bizarre, to say the least. read more

Dropped in here when I was in austin a couple wks ago. Super helpful. Amazing facility with so much to offer. Great coaches and a workout. Will definitely be back next time I am in Austin read more

Loved it. Would definitely come here again when I'm in Austin. One free drop-in gives you the opportunity to check things out. This is not a sprinkle gym - these guys mean business, but the coach gave practical support to all athletes at thier level. I've been doing CrossFit for about 4 months and I'm in decent shape and I was able to keep up with the workout. I attended twice while I was in town one 5:30am class and a 7:00 am class. Both classes I had the same coach. Nice guy. No frills. No excuses. He's not there to be your best friend, but he's there to motivate and support. He was attentive to all the athletes including me. I felt apart. I've been to a few other boxes on the west coast and love the "family vibe" I didn't get that from this coach but hey, I got a good workout - I'll take it. The gym definitely has character - clean enough...They should probably auto scrub the floor sometime soon. All good. read more

Whenever I am in new/different city for work I try to visit a local box to make sure I get one decent workout while I am travelling for work. I was able to get in two at Crossfit Central Downtown which I highly recommend. Shout out to the 6:15am'ers for their great energy and for making a visitor from up north feel like one of their own. And another shout out to the coaches I had (Clay, Chris, Jeremy and Whitney) for taking the making me feel at home and doing an excellent job of demonstrating and explaining proper form for the movements and providing scaling options as well. read more

Was in town for work and looking for a decent place to get a workout in. I've been doing CrossFit for three years and decided to give CrossFit Central a go. First off the people there are awesome!!! So welcoming to a drop in. The WOD was challenging and the coaching was great. HUGE space, open floor. I will be back for sure!!! read more

I love this place. I was dropping in from out of town. I emailed them 30 minutes before the class and they emailed me right back. I got there, changed, and they introduced me to the whole class which helped me feel at ease. There were 2 coaches: Coach Taylor & Coach Ben and they were so amazing. Not only were they able to coach me, an experienced crossfitter, they were coaching the newbies extremely well. The class was only 45 minutes & they started on time. I highly recommend anyone living in Austin to come here. If you are passing through, this is the box to come to. I will definitely return. read more

I was in Austin on a business trip and needed a box to drop into. The staff was friendly, the coaches were great. They all took time to work with me, even though I wasn't one of the regulars. What I was impressed by the most was how they staffed their place. 5:30 in the morning, 3 classes and I could see 4 or 5 coaches and one office staff member there. Talk about being able to give attention and keep control. The equipment was a little worn (a sign of a lot of use which is not necessarily a bad thing), but they had more than enough to staff the classes (and we were all on individual bars setting a 1RM clean and jerk). It was a little hard to find the right information online, and I didn't get a reply to email inquiries (I finally called and the staff member I spoke to was awesome). Overall, great experience. Very convenient for any crossfitters visiting in the Downtown Austin area. Major props to the owners and staff. read more

I absolutely enjoy crossfit, and wanted to get back into the routine of crossfit. Crossfit central, the downtown location was perfect I thought because it was close to work, and a friend recommended. After a few visits, I experienced a kind of rushed class, not to many introductions to the class work out, and you basically have to be an athlete for many years to understand what the instructor is wanting. Modifications, it was to figure out the alternative or just skip this work-out. Several times I found myself trying to figure how to modify while the class continued. Crossfit can be a hard decision to make and get into. This is my third experience with a crossfit box here in Austin, and I loved the first two, but it's too far from work. This location cost me roughly $150 a month. For little attention, not understanding the work out plan for the month, and less hand on experience from an instructor than a gym class. Not the friendly personalized experience I expected, and proper help with form. I didn't go for 2 weeks because I hurt my ankle. I joined this location as a recommendation, and based on the reviews, and if you are a seasoned athlete go for it. If you're someone that needs to start off with goals, modifications, maybe new to crossfit. I would try several lower impact options where you will get more attention. read more

Great CrossFit gym in downtown Austin, really nice staff, large space (TWO buildings!).

Without fail, some of the best CF instruction I have received in a long time. Take a peak online and there is considerable hate for CF. Injuries, injuries, injuries. In my opinion, these injuries stem from fly by night boxes that open up as a business rather than a philosophy. CF Central really puts an emphasis on I understanding the movements. I dropped in for two visits when I was in town, and each was preceded by a lengthy warmup and discussion and demonstration of all the movements involved in the daily WOD. That is boss! Great instructors, clean facility, flexible classes. I wished I lived in Austin! I'd be a client in a heartbeat. Jessica, Tyler, and Chris are phenomenal instructors who love what they do. read more

This place has put me in the best shape of my life. I get a lot better results in Crossfit than I did going to the gym for some cardio and weight lifting. All the workouts are scalable so depending on the exercise you can use little or no weights. Either way, the workouts are really tough, and the trainers are all awesome. read more

Koda Crossfit - Interval Training Gyms Near Me - Austin, Texas

This has been my gym for close to a year. I first came here because I moved to Austin from Seattle. I had been a member of Crossfit Belltown there and was spoiled: amazing space, fantastic coaches and wonderful members. I felt like I was leaving a family. Crossfit Central had big shoes to fill but they definitely filled them and then some! This gym is really large and is constantly filled with very buff folks (I might do crossfit but I'm not even close to buff). When I first came, I was a little intimidated by these things, but my fears were unfounded. Everyone is so friendly from the staff to the members. I quickly found my fitness tribe. The coaches care deeply about the well being of members. If I don't show up for classes, I'd get texts, emails, calls. I don't think I'll ever be one of those people who "enjoys" workouts but the things that get me thru are the support and encouragement of my coaches (shouts out to Nader and Taylor!!) and my Crossfit friends. This gym encouraged me to participate in the Crossfit Open, and I did it! For years I had been working on my kipping pull ups. Many different coaches in Seattle and Boston tried to help but no luck. I was a dead hanging block. This gym and these coaches taught me how to kip!!!!!! As I get ready to leave Austin, I'd be remiss not let others know how great this place is and how special the members and staff truly are. I'll miss this place. It feels like I'm leaving another family behind. Hopefully the next box I join is even half as awesome at Crossfit Central. read more

I LOVE CROSSFIT CENTRAL!!! This place is the absolute best. Both my partner and I have traveled far and wide, dropping into various boxes around the country and very few come close to the level of Crossfit Central (downtown). We love this place. We love every single thing about this place. A (large) part of the awesomeness of this place are the coaches. We've worked with Nader, Megan, Nick and Mike and we love them with all of our Crossfit hearts. Nader and Megan do an AMAZING job of making you feel like a champ and they are your biggest fans and it's totally genuine. They seem to be made to coach and help people get strong both physically and mentally. They're the best. Every time we walk into class and see their big, friendly smiles we are immediately grateful that we made time to come in for a workout. It's worth every minute. They are encouraging and friendly all the while giving great feedback on form and modifications if need be. It's always safe with them because they're smart and know what they're doing. Nick is a badass. Not only is he the ultimate outdoors man but he's a great Crossfit coach. He gives great progressions when learning really hard movements so that a really strong foundation is built- making it safe and fun. He's also a great motivator and mental coach because he has a superhuman intuition for when frustration and fatigue start to come into the picture. He helps me refocus and step up. Mike is awesome. We've only been to one of his classes, but even within that single class we learned a ton and felt improved. He's also very knowledgeable when it comes to muscle health, maintenance and the latest and greatest methods to improve mobility. He also has one of the best dogs in the world. We love the format of Crossfit Central classes too. Usually there is a strength element followed by a conditioning element. It seems like a lot of thought goes into the group programming and we couldn't be happier with it or more grateful. Every time we go to class, we get an AWESOME workout and learn so much about movement and form. The coaches know a ton and can usually answer any fitness (or life) related question and if they can't give an answer they are confident in, they will always show you in the right direction. The facilities and equipment are top notch. It's a nice open space, great equipment that is obviously well maintained and nice BIG fans for those hot Texas summers. They also integrate a really great website that helps me track my workouts, results, and food. It also allows me to see the WOD of the day before I actually show up for class which I really, really appreciate. Of course people have the option of not looking at it, but I like something to look forward to. read more

CC is a great facility. Was in town for 2 days; dropped a Geo tag and this ended up being the closest crossfit box to me. Today was first weekend of the open and I'm semi new to crossfit. Had coach big mike scoring me - guy was great, very encouraging, and truly coached me through the workout. Beginner or veteran, I recommend stopping by here if you're in Austin for business or pleasure. Top notch facility with great staff - I forget the other guys name, but he was a good guy as well. Keep it up! read more

I went to Crossfit Central for about 6 months with my boyfriend and overall the gym was great, most of the coaches were knowledgeable and attentive and the price wasn't bad. My problem came with one of the coaches, which I shall not name, who was offensively pushy about how he treated me and jokingly talked about how I shouldn't be with my boyfriend, because he could "Do better." I understand that an unspoken culture underlines a lot of gyms and how the coaches can go through, mostly female, clients, but in all the gyms I have been to I have really never felt this objectified, even in this new society of calling wolf on every comment made towards a woman. This didn't happen the first day I was there, but I did notice and apathy towards this coach and it just being an "accepted" personality trait, with how he treated women at the gym. The reason for this review is because I did enjoy the friends I made there and I felt like that was taken from me. I was reminded of this because on run around Town Lake I saw something spray-painted on the pedestrian bridge and it pretty much sums up how I'm assuming others have felt about this trainer or as someone once said "The much shorter version of Kramer from Seinfeld." I included a picture of the statement. Lastly if this gym "accepts" this type of behavior then if you are a girl you might feel more comfortable somewhere else. Anyone that thinks he can say and treat anyone as unprofessionally as this should be either sent to a sexual harassment class or the owners should seriously consider good business practices and what kind of revenue is lost, because even in my time there patrons left because of how uncomfortable they felt from this trainer. read more

I am from Birmingham, AL and was in town for my husband's bike race. I am an experienced crossfitter, and was able to come workout here easily! Visiting austin for business and decided to do a drop in class. Very easy online sign up. Very challenging wod, and super friendly coaches.

Great place! I was visiting from NY and looking for a box to drop in. I found Crossfit Central Downtown to be the closest. I showed up for a 7am class, Angela at the front desk was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Within minutes Chris, the coach, came over and introduced himself and welcomed me to the gym. It doesn't matter who you are, visiting a new box can be a bit scary. Angela and Chris made me feel right at home. The members were nice and I had a great time. On a side note, it's very dog friendly.... LOVE THAT. I can't wait to go back! read more

My wife and I dropped into Crossfit Central while in town for business. We ended up hitting this box up for a second drop in before we left as we enjoyed it so much. The coaches and staff were welcoming and helpful. Our first coach was Nadar. Second coach was Davis. Both were excellent and created a fun atmosphere. The community at this box was equally as welcoming. They invited us to a happy hour immediately following our evening class and gave us several recommendations for fun things to do in Austin. The box itself is impressive. It is bigger than our home box, very modern with plenty of equipment. I loved that it is an indoor/outdoor facility and part of both workouts took place outside. Thanks Crossfit Central! We will be sporting our new CC shirts proudly back in CA! read more
