I was visiting Austin last week and was excited to try out the Barry's location, since I go a few times every week in the Bay Area. What a great experience! The Austin location is gigantic! They have two rooms for classes- one Red Room (the one I was in), and I believe the other room was for lifting only. The class size is also larger than what I am used to, which was cool. I took two classes and both were great, but Phillip's was especially awesome! Not only did he have great energy and curated a great ACL-themed playlist, but also included some facts about ACL throughout the class which was super fun! I had brought a guest who had never been to Barry's before and she even mentioned a few days later how awesome he was! Everyone at the front desk was super nice and helpful as well. UPDATE: Several instances had happened at this location when I come in to workout: Recently bullying to other members regarding who spots its assigned to... this has been become concerning such saying "you took T12 that's my spot... or You took F19 that's my spot, etc." Childish behavior has been observed as members are unable to adapt to being flexible to which spot they want to be assigned to. I hear you but understand you can't have everything YOUR WAY! 7/13/25 an incident happened where a member kicked my waterbottle underneath the treadmill and caused me to fall off. No front desk staff member was able to resolve the issue since it takes 15 minutes for front desk to get someone to grab my water bottle and temporarily move me to another treadmill. This could have been prevented in moving me to another treadmill spot quickly than waiting for 15 minutes which wasted my class time. A Member there builled me stating it wasn't a big deal and senses it was not an issue at all and cares about himself and not for others. another instance was around this time last year when another member forced me to switch spots with them during a free class when it was sold out without checking in with front desk. These events both are reasons why I will not come back to Barry's Austin. The instructors did their duties the front desk is held at responsible for their actions not handling the situation in a professional manner. Lastly, compensating credit to say sorry has become a mental health issue to me. It's time for me to exit the Barry's Austin. Note: This negative review will stay posted. Fantastic experience at Barry's! I've always heard so much about them place across the US and was so excited to try their Austin branch through ClassPass. My husband and I went as a healthy date night and we had so much fun!! Our instructor Ashley had the best playlist and her energy kept us going. So touched to find hand written notes for us on our treadmills! The facilities are super clean, shiny and new, do you spot the Dysons and Ouai in the bathrooms! They've got showers, towels and validated parking, all the makings of a great gym experience. The workout was pretty intense, 20 mins of treadmills and strength back and forth, I like the broken up format so you don't feel you're doing any one thing for too long. Barry's is one of my favorite workout studios here in Austin! With the perfect balance of HIIT-style workouts in every class (a balance of treadmill running and weight floor lifting), you'll definitely work up a sweat and burn AT LEAST a few hundred calories -- no doubt about it! The workout room is dimly lit with red light ambiance (their iconic color), so if you don't like workouts in dimly lit environments, you may not enjoy this style of class. In my opinion, you'll find the best EDM-heavy remixes of classic/popular songs at Barry's, and the playlist will absolutely hype you up throughout the class. I will say, however, if you're just starting out and not familiar with different exercise forms, this class might be extra difficult because although the coaches do demonstrate every exercise before you go into them, the class is very fast-paced so they usually don't have the time to check up on you individually to correct your form. The staff and coaches are always friendly when you walk through the door, and they also provide 90-minute parking validation when you park in the AMLI parking garage (located just above the studio)! The bathrooms have incredible lighting for your mirror selfie moments and there are shower stalls and lockers as well. Overall, Barry's is a regular routine for me and the workouts always push me to be a better version of myself! :) read more

New years resolution is to shout out the places that really go all out. Barry's Austin is the only gym I've been able to consistently commit to and want to show up at. Is it expensive? Yes, but you get what you pay for. Ask anyone who comes to class consistently and they will tell you: it's worth it. The classes not only burn calories but help you actually build muscle. The trainers are all fantastic and everyone is a little different, but that's what makes it fun: Brandon: Focuses on technique, form, and progression all while making you laugh. I definitely prioritize his lift classes whenever I can. Josey: The best playlists and is the most experienced when it comes to Barry's. His dance moves are almost as beautiful as his singing voice. Phillip: Makes you work muscles you didn't know existed. His motivational mantras have gotten me through some of my hardest days. Christen: The sweetest dominatrix you'll ever have the pleasure of training with. She'll smile while she tells you to run one more sprint and you can't help but run faster because she truly believes in you. Al: Makes it a point to get to know each and every person that walks through those doors and somehow still makes everyone feel individually special. Need to work on your ass? Take his Thursday class. Cait: She has the timing and rhythm down to a T. Her workouts feel like a choreographed dance and it goes by so quickly. If it's your first time - I highly recommend you take her class! Kenzie: I can't say enough about how amazing this gorgeous woman will make you feel before, during, AND after your workouts. She has a background in dance so her stretches always help in reducing cramps. She mixes up the sequence and exercises so that it never feels repetitive. Haley and Bailey make a fantastic duo running everything and ensuring smooth guest interactions. They do fun pop-ups all the time like No Shower Happy hour where you can grab a cocktail after class and meet people. The amenities are exactly what you need (this isn't a spa people - it's a gym). They have Ouai products, Dyson hair dryers, hair/body products, fresh towels. You can order a protein shake before class and it'll be ready right when you pop out. I love this studio and am looking forward to more classes, laughs, and health forward memories. read more

I've visited Barry's twice now since they've moved to their current, newer location, and I've enjoyed my visit both times! This location is much larger, and - though it's downtown - they have a bit of street parking in front or they'll validate your parking (up to 90 mins.) in the garage, so no parking worries here! Barry's is a great HIIT workout class. The standard classes are the run x lift, which are 50 mins. and include rounds of floor exercises (lifting/weights) and treadmill running (cardio), but they also just have lifting classes. You can also opt for a "double floor" spot where you don't partake in the treadmill sessions of the class. While it's not an every day workout, it's a nice "once in a while" workout to really get you sweaty and change up your weekly routine, whatever that may consist of. I always leave a Barry's class drenched in sweat and having had a great time. My favorite instructors are Josey, Annette, and Phillip. The front desk staff are always kind, and there are plenty of lockers to store your stuff during class. The women's locker room is tidy and modern, and the showers are nice to use after class. There's also a smoothie bar with (overpriced) post-workout drinks and snacks, or lots of places in the general area for coffee or treats afterward! read more

Barry's Austin has disappointed me. The manager, Haley Spinelli, would not take ownership for the performance issues in an email response to me. Thursday classes are the easy day so don't attend if you are seeking a high calorie burn. Specifically Haley indicates that Thursday uses rubber bands rather than compound HIIT exercises. The music doesn't work consistently so you may be disappointed with the sound of treadmills. Maybe you will hear customer's complaints filling the silence. The instruction is unpredictable. Some instructors follow a HIIT workout with great calorie burn. Haley allows 50% instructor freedom so the class may be ballet barre with running. What a disappointment for the price! I am utterly disappointed and frustrated that I can't get a consistent HIIT Barry's workout in austin. read more

The environment, lights and music are energizing and motivational, and the classes are well-structured, efficient and effective. But the difference between Barry's and other places is the instructors and staff, and their philosophy that Barry's is more than just a gym -- it's a community. A community of kind, caring people. Every single instructor at Barry's Austin is not only the best at what they do, they are also quality humans that take a sincere interest in not just your health and fitness progress, but also in you as a person. In addition to getting in the best shape of my life, I'm thankful to have made many connections with quality people at Barry's, including not only instructors and staff, but also other members. In a city so filled with studios, Barry's wouldn't be my top choice. It's a good studio, with parking and amenities at the facility, but I found it a bit challenging to follow along and hear the instructions. If you are a looking for a high intensity workout in the downtown Austin area this is your spot. Featuring 60 minutes classes with both dumbbells and treadmills. You will be sweating by the end of it. The instructors are highly motivational and they dim the lights to make it seem like you are at a club. There aren't a wide variety of classes. Once you do a couple of classes they all become similar. It is also pricey, the classes are always packed and energetic though. read more

Barry's will definitely kick your butt - the workout alternates between treadmill and weights and you switch off twice during class. If you're new, I'd recommend starting on treadmill first because otherwise it can be exhausting. They also have discounted class packs. It's a HIIT workout, meaning you go all out for short periods followed by low intensity. The room was pretty packed when I was there and it didn't seem super hygienic with people grabbing weights and switching treadmills covered in sweat in a relatively small room, but this is more of a 20 something workout, and I probably just can't hang. To me, this class was an over hyped Orange Theory mixed with F45 , don't waste your money. It all started with no tour of the gym & the staff only pointing in the direction I needed to go. No run down of the stations, the gym, & not even the pricing plans- that's something I had to ask for at the end. Thank God I had done a workout class before because if not, I would've been a fish out of water. That's a huge thanks to the staff who lacked to show any interest in this being my 1st time here. You'd think such an exclusive and expensive gym, you'd get put on a silver platter. When I left, the staff at the front could've cared less about my experience overall. I will say they did validate my parking ticket! That's a plus. But to sum it all up, save your $ go to Orange Theory or F45 where at least they'll annoy you with their hospitality, but at least they care. read more

I've been to a number of Barry's across the US now and Austin ranks among the best (along with those in Northern California). I've come to realize that not all Barry's studios are created equal. The Austin studio has a great, bright and open space, and spacious locker rooms. Al was our instructor there that day and he rocked. read more

Workout is fantastic. Facilities are clean but the hairdryers don't work. I complained a few times over the course of the last few months and they haven't don't anything about it, which is upsetting given cost of the class (it should come with fully equipped facilities). Until they fix it, I personally can't take morning classes except for weekends. Will adjust my review when and if this issue is resolved. read more

Haley took her time explaining the new format for the "flex lounge" and even went out of her way to give us recommendations for restaurants during our stay. Beautiful studio with a fun vibe. Every staff member I've interacted with has been very friendly which is so important in an environment which could otherwise be intimidating. Not here. Everyone welcome. I love that they have both the treadmill room and a lift room, which provide two styles of workouts, both with fun energetic coaches. Locker rooms are very clean, with showers, lots of lockers (you don't need a lock) and also plenty of parking in the garage attached to the bldg. They validate for up to 90 mins which is plenty of time to get in and out after class without being charged. Highly recommend this studio. read more

Super disappointed in this business. I registered and paid for a class and arrived on time only to learn that they gave my spot away. I spoke with Bailey (a manager) who unapologetically said that they have the right to give spots away if you don't register in the location more than five minutes before class. They don't call you. And their app does not give you the option to check in unless you are in the studio. This was a very poor customer experience. read more
