    JaCorey in all his glory!
    Bruce M.

I begrudgingly went to this class after a friend told me about it. I do OrangeTheory Fitness and the thought of doing a class of just biking didn't sound compelling at all. I decided to go anyway and I had a blast. It's very much like going to a club only no alcohol and a lot more sweating. Our trainer was JaCorey and he absolutely slayed. Not only was he motivational, he played some sick beats that we all did choreography to. Never in a million years did I think I would ever rock choreo on a bike much less actually enjoying it. I highly recommend booking a class with him. While Biking will not replace OrangeTheory, I do see myself doing both. I guess now I am a (biking) believer!

Tasha - take her thirsty Thursday 7:45pm class. It's a party!

Okkkurrrrr. I'm from Indianapolis and was in town for work. A pal from home (Tasha) is an instructor. I convinced my friends to sign up with me for a 7:45pm thirsty Thursday class & they listened to me! As a note: we were up at 3:30am for our flight down, worked all Day & lost an hour due to the time change. But low & behold we made it and I've never felt more energized in a class. Bonus: first class & shoe rental is free! It's a smaller studio than other spin classes I've been to but it felt more intimate and way more like a dance party than a workout. Tasha was engaging and had a bomb playlist. She was off and on the bike and led us through the choreography seamlessly. The studio is clean and welcoming, just downtown in Austin. They do validate parking for up to two hours in the garages along the same street. Water is $2 if you forget & they have lockers for storage. The Thursday evening class is ThirstyThursday! We got to try 512 tequila and it was delicious. I hope to go back the next time I'm in Austin for Tasha's class.

Rebounders. It's all here. I've never seen any other gym anywhere offer so much. Also, the members take care of this place, wiping down equipment, they don't use harsh chemicals either, it's essential oils so the place has a light hint of pine in the air. Also, towel service in included. Although, castle hill fitness isn't the prettiest gym, she has the most heart, I don't feel like a piece of meat in there, and it's kept clean. I received a guest pass for a cycle workout from my Yelp friend Airon Andrews…read more I was impressed with the gym. There are so many amenities...snack shop, free towels, hydro massage chairs, Normatek compression boots, cold therapy chairs, pool, and real massages. The cycle class by dynamic instructor David Garza was quite a workout! It was only 30 minutes long but energy packed! I was familiar with the Soul Cycle type classes, which include push-ups while cycling. But this class introduced dance style moves, such as swaying hips. It was a real dance party! I was exhausted but feeling great afterwards. We partook of the Normatek compression boots, which were good therapy for my recently injured knee. The hydro massage chairs were taken, so we skipped that. All in all, this high end gym was a great experience. I would join, except my insurance does not cover the gym because it is considered "premium."

When I could no longer tolerate the big box gyms, the crowds that flock to them and the bad behaviors that have cropped up over time, I finally made the move to this gym. Sure it's smaller, sure it doesn't have daycare, saunas, pools, giant changing rooms but I consider all those things a plus. People who show up here show up to work out not sit at the sauna and pool all day. The price point is higher than most gyms but not unreasonable. You get what you pay for -- mostly in peace and quiet and an overall more courteous gentler crowd. There is a good mix of equipment that can handle a mix of folks who just want fitness, folks who are into bodybuilding and powerlifters. For the most part all three groups exist in peace. Perhaps the general fitness folks may at times be a little intimidated by some of the louder harder workouts of the powerlifters. But this can be mitigated by changing the time you go. I get overstimulated by such noises so I try to avoid those folks if I can. ( I can be a gentle flower lol) Gender balance. This gym has a very healthy gender balance. Luckily this crowd is not there to find suitors, they are there to work out so no fake eyelashes or clown makeup nor guys just dragging their wings along the ground like turkeys in heat. Please respect this dynamic and don't come here to hit on people. Like most gyms the peak time is 5-7 week days except it's mostly Monday to Wednesday that's somewhat busy during rush hour. But nothing like the big box gyms. It's busy but not impossible to get a workout in like other gyms. Folks are not aggressive with each other, they are kind when they approach you for working in etc. I take a long time at some machines people should be upset but there is no upset, only kindness. They are swapping out some of the equipment and its changes for the better -- mind you what's there is already plenty. This is a small gym floor compared to mix chain gyms. The gym in Lincoln village is slightly larger and the new one in round rock will be huge. The hours are great. Parking is plenty however not endless, sometimes you will have to hunt a little. The gym is clean, bathrooms is clean but could be better. I am just being honest. It's just fine. I have been spoiled by Lifetime and EOS. There is a regular crowd that's been there a long time and they sometimes do exert a little bit of ownership and territorial behavior but they are mostly harmless, they could use the challenge of new faces, and they are perfectly able to adapt and accept newcomers. So don't be intimidated. It's all teddy bears in there. The staff also is amazingly friendly and attentive and keep the place sharp and on top shape and help members. I highly recommend you get a week pass and check it out!

Nevertheless, the downtown location is clean, well-staffed, and has all the equipment and classes you could need or want. I've gone at busy, peak hours and still been able to find spots to work out. I like that there are water stations and towels available all throughout the gym, as well as TVs throughout the gym to help you through your workout. When I joined, I was given a complimentary personal training session and an intro session, which was really helpful in learning the layout of the gym and different workout configurations that will work best for my body and fitness goals. I have also had the opportunity to check out a bunch of classes, too, and my favorite by far has been sculpt with Natalie or with Jay. Both are phenomenal instructors, and I swear I have never sweat so much in my life as I do in their sculpt classes! Worth it! The locker rooms are very clean and well-equipped with towels, shampoo/conditioner/lotion, feminine products, hair care technology (blow dryers, flat irons, etc), mouthwash, deodorant, etc. The only thing I will say is that the sauna in the women's locker room is pretty small and only seats 4-5 people. They also keep it at a pretty low heat for a dry sauna (~140-150) for some reason. Nevertheless, it does the job eventually, you just may not have a spot to sit at peak times.
