BEST GYM IN AUSTIN TEXAS AND ONLY GETTING BETTER! The gym strives to be the best it can be for its members, and you feel that as soon as you walk in. Incredible place to catch a work out and meet inspiring people!

I left a while ago- because of tiny bathrooms, overcrowding, and the price for what I get... I ended up joining another gym(onnit). Way more equipment, not overly crowded, it has AC, sauna, cold plunge(soon!). I just didn't feel I was enjoying my time here anymore. I'd say this gym is definitely more for people trying to become "influential" in the social media world, esp w bodybuilding and powerlifting. I just wanted something more functional, & more about the health and wellness aspect of lifting. I think they would benefit from expanding the gym, since it's super crowded. You just have to find your vibe. It may be here.. it may be elsewhere. Much love.

I wish I could do Lift ATX justice with this review but it's hard to put into words how special it really is. For starters, this gym is a community where ALL are accepted regardless of their fitness level. Whether you're a bodybuilder or just starting out, you'll feel safe here. Take it from someone who has a little "fluff" around the edges... there's no intimidation, no judgement, no pressure. You do you, boo! You'll also never have to worry about feeling like a dollar sign. They don't use long contract commitments for retention because they know it's not the money that makes a difference. Let's be real, people sign up for gym memberships they don't use all the time... I know this because before Lift ATX, I used to be one of those people! Haha. But seriously, Lift ATX understands that it's your experience that will have you actually *wanting* to come back and it's the sense of belonging that will make you a member. But hey, don't take my word for it. Drop by the gym and see Lift ATX for yourself. You won't be disappointed!

Great atmosphere but definitely a busy gym at times, I like that they have a very laid back gym policy and the environment reflects that.

Ask the Community - Lift ATX

Is this a woman friendly gym? Basically have women gotten harassed or stalked by other members here, and have management dealt with it correctly?

I have been going to Dane's now for ~6 months. I had been going to a Crossfit gym for years, but…read moredecided I wanted to make a change. The class programming at Dane's is setup so that you generally have 1-2 warm up sessions, possibly a strength session, then there will be 1-2 high-intensity sessions, and finally a "fusion" (cool-down/stretching) session. Everyday is different - you'll never do the same boring warm-up or cool-down routine. The coaches are fantastic. For the first half of 2017 I wasn't able to workout after breaking my ankle playing "bubble soccer" (note to self: don't play bubble soccer again). When I finally was ready to get back at it, I decided to give Dane's a try. The coaches were super understanding and helped me find substitute movements when needed. They're quick to make recommendations on form and technique improvements. Class size is generally between 8-15 students, so I rarely have an issue with getting personal attention if needed. They have a decent amount of equipment, but occasionally you may run into issues with too few dumbbells. Classes are not uber competitive. You don't write your time down or number of reps on the wall. You're competing against yourself. They offer several types of classes and the monthly subscription includes them all: Strength, Fusion and Yoga. The members at Dane's are fun and they host a lot of events. These run the gamut from impromptu post workout happy hours, to "Push-Pull" events, to fun charity events like "Burpees for Bros." If you're looking for a great place to workout with good programming, great coaches, and a fun community, then I would strongly recommend giving Dane's a try.

I've been coming here for 15 years, and the pattern is unmistakable: loyal members keep paying, the staff keep holding the place together, and ownership keeps cutting corners while the club falls apart around them. The trainers and frontline staff are not the problem. The problem is ownership and the standards it tolerates. This club is being treated like a cash cow. THE MEN'S LOCKER ROOM IS DISGUSTING * Bugs come out of the drains. * Showers and drains are filthy. * Hair, grime, used Band-Aids, and debris are routinely left behind. * Lockers contain hair and dirt. * Tiles are broken where people walk barefoot. * There appears to be mold in places. * Dirt and hair collect along walls, floors, fixtures, and corners. A member became so frustrated that he wrote the name of a drain-cleaning chemical directly on the wall. These are sanitation failures in a place where people shower and walk barefoot. One diligent cleaner cannot overcome weak standards, inadequate staffing, and deferred maintenance. THE CARDIO EQUIPMENT IS IN TERRIBLE CONDITION There are eight StairMasters. Four are broken. The remaining four operate roughly, with cranking, slipping, and uneven movement that can be felt while using them. Many ellipticals bang at both ends of their range of motion instead of providing smooth, low-impact movement. Powering on does not mean a machine is functioning properly. Weight machines have missing or mismatched pins, missing add-on weight pins, squeaking parts, visible wear, and repairs that can take months. THE ENTIRE CLUB FEELS CHEAPENED The personal training area is poorly lit, surrounded by stained ceiling tiles, has no mirrors, and contains equipment that looks improvised or secondhand. Trainers and members often bring in their own equipment. A useful digital clock was removed and replaced with cheap wall clocks. Small detail, same mentality: replace something functional with the cheapest substitute. The basketball court is routinely dirty, its air conditioning took months to repair, and a once-thriving pickup community has largely disappeared. The answer is not to remove the court. The answer is to maintain it. MEMBER LOYALTY HAS BECOME AN EXCUSE TO BE CHEAP Hancock remains busy because of its location, trainers, and offerings. Continued attendance does not make these conditions acceptable. People have built routines and relationships around this gym. Switching is inconvenient. Ownership seems to understand that and exploit it. The apparent strategy is to cut expenses, delay repairs, push more services, and extract as much revenue as possible while investing as little as possible back into the club. That may help the short-term bottom line, but it is damaging the gym and the brand. 24 HOUR FITNESS CORPORATE SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED Come look at Hancock Center without a corporate tour or advance warning. Look at the drains, broken tiles, showers, stained ceilings, broken StairMasters, banging ellipticals, dirty court edges, and filthy lockers. Then explain how this reflects a company that cares about the quality of its gyms. Hancock does not need another patch job. It needs real investment: deep-clean the locker rooms, repair the wet areas, service or replace failing equipment, improve the training area, maintain the basketball court, and give staff enough resources to meet a reasonable standard. This club has loyal members, good trainers, a valuable location, and a long history in Central Austin. Ownership is cutting maintenance and cleaning below the bare minimum, then greedily pocketing their profits at the expense of the gym, its members, the brand, and the community that supports it.
