    AO is my favorite gym in Austin!! They offer a variety of classes with such an encouraging and kind staff. Definitely recommend!!

    Nathan the Amazing returns me to my life!…read more I am an avid yogi. Not the best mind you, but it is the only thing I have found to release my stress and anxiety. I tore my shoulder and was preparing for surgery. I was devastated when I learned I would be out of yoga for six months. I didn't want to lose my flexibility that I had gained over the past two years, so I turned to Stretch Lab Mueller. My first 50 minute session was with Nathan! He walked me through the Stretch Lab techniques and I learned very quickly through his direction that I would not only keep my flexibility, but I was GAINING flexibility! My hamstrings were the tightest, my back was always sore and my glutes, well they were non existent. Nathan told me to work on the connection between my brain and glute (he said it more scientifically, but I knew what he meant, lol). He gave me exercises to increase glute strength and how to keep stretching my glutes on my own through home work-outs. After my surgery we kept stretching and he was SO mindful of my shoulder! He has a great rapport, he is genuine, positive and he knows his stuff! If that last paragraph wasn't enough the facility is so clean. The front desk staff is friendly and eager to help, and all of the staff doing the stretching are on their game! I had to freeze my membership for a couple of weeks due to my surgery and this was done with ease. Appointments are booked in person or through the app which is simple to navigate. I am back into yoga now and my fear of losing my flexibility did not come to fruition! I am more flexible and stronger all the way around on my return to the activity that I love! I want to thank Nathan and everyone at Stretch Lab Mueller for keeping me yoga ready! I cannot recommend this place enough! They are simply the best! Namaste! :)

The 50 minute sessions leave me feeling very relaxed and energetic. I'm a 75 yo with muscular dystrophy issues and hoping to stay on my feet as long as I can. This therapy is part of my plan. I think everybody should try it.

Central Athlete feels like the best of all worlds when it comes to a gym environment, utilizing a really cool personalized fitness model that I've never quite seen before. It starts with a consultation and an in-depth assessment about your current lifestyle, abilities, and fitness levels, as well as thoughtful discussion about your short and long-term goals, motivational factors, etc. The coach then builds workouts for you, delivered via a very nicely designed and user friendly app, which you can do at the CA gym, at home, at the hotel gym while traveling, etc. The focus goes way beyond gym workouts, and includes nutrition, sleep, stress, hydration, lots of discussion of consistency, and generally controlling what you can in your own wellness. Frequent communication with your coach, including monthly sit-down check-ins, help ensure that you're progressing and on the same page. Like a lot of the other folks at CA, I spent a few years doing crossfit, which was generally a wonderful experience that introduced me to the idea that I could be stronger than I imagined. But the crossfit classes were more of a one-sized-fits-all approach, without much time for focus on form, injury prevention, or working towards individual goals. At CA, you're doing workout sets specifically designed to stretch your current abilities, and always working towards your individual goals. This keeps the workouts at that sweet spot of always advancing and being challenging but not grueling. In the gym, coaches are on the floor for much of the day, and there's a great deal of individual attention and feedback from coaches, lots of breaking down movements to their component parts and rebuilding with proper form (who knew I was rowing all wrong for the last 7 years?) and also great camaraderie from the folks who make up the community there. The coaches are also just really nice, dedicated, enthusiastic and communicative people, and have a huge amount of knowledge and expertise. Re the investment, it's more than you'd pay for a big box gym, but a small fraction of the cost of a personal trainer, while still reaping the benefits that you might expect from a personal trainer, so I feel like I'm getting immense value for my money. In just two months, I've lost a significant amount of body fat, gained a significant amount of muscle, dropped a jeans size, and most importantly, built up the ability to do some really cool strength and endurance work. Most exciting, it still feels like this journey is just beginning and is the start of something sustainable long-term.

I hold myself differently and feel more comfortable, especially at my shoulders and lower back. My lower back pain is gone. I sleep better and feel more confident walking around. Carmen has a real intuition for the body's movement, reminding me of my ballerina sister. Carmen can tell just by watching when something is off.     STRONG PILATES IS ONE OF THE BEST! This is probably one of my new favorite Pilates studios!! Jai,…read morethe instructor, was phenomenal down to the music selection--Afro beats! The pace of the class was perfect and this is the only studio that I've been to where an actual demo of the machine was provided. They also have tv screens with the moves showing what's coming up next so you don't feel lost or awkward as a first timer. I actually left sweating and feeling energized. After class each person was provided with a cold strong towel to cool down. The cool thing that sets Strong apart is that their "rowformer" has a bike attach and erg/rowing machine. The bathrooms also include a shower area and they have a separate area for cool down stretching as well! These were such nice touches! There's a parking garage attached so no stress to be had there! They provide parking validation! Right now they have a sale of 15 days (unlimited classes) for $69 which is a great deal!

She set the tone for the positive experience I would receive. Because Strong Pilates is a little different from regular Reformer Pilates, it takes a while to get used to the vocabulary and equipment logistics and usage. I like the fact that Strong Pilates combines either a bike or rower (known as the "erg side) to the workout. The intervals on the erg side are challenging, either based on a certain calorie burn or number of meters. There are usually about 3 blocks of bike or rower: Once the first erg side workout is completed with several intervals of intense work followed by short rests, the session progresses to the strength side, utilizing the carriage and springs and sometimes free weights. This part is more like traditional reformer Pilates, but with a few differences. After attaching the carriage straps to your feet or hands, several challenging strength exercises follow. Sometimes you are standing up or planking, while pulling the carriage. The spring tension is adjustable to how strong you are feeling. I felt a little unsteady during some of the planking positions, as the carriage tended to move. But this can be corrected by adding more spring tension. I normally do lots of weight lifting/strength workouts, but Strong Pilates takes it to a new level! I definitely felt very strong (and tired) after each workout! The cold scented towels provided at the end are so refreshing...a perfect way to end the session!
