This gym is lightning in a bottle. The programming is dynamic, engaging and effective. It's designed to help you challenge yourself week over week. The different classes between AO Strength, AO Fit and AO Power really allow you to find something tailored to your goals. They offer a variety of group classes and even have smaller classes with personal training if you are looking for something more individual focused. They have dedicated strength classes and also classes with both cardio and strength. It offers a great variety so you can mixup and get a wide range of work on different muscles in your workouts. All of the staff and trainers are super friendly and knowledgeable in the fitness area. The gym offers a wide variety of equipment and machines at your disposal. This is my favorite gym in Austin. I've been a member since 2020 and recently completed my 995th class! I love this place and the community. All of the coaches are knowledgeable, focused on your form and willing and able to make you sweat! If something feels off, they'll help you modify. They offer a wide range of classes like Fit, Strength, and Power along with group training, personal training, and pre/post natal training too. They even have an on staff physical therapist! They offer morning, afternoon and evening classes to fit whatever your schedule allows. They recently made some updates to the showers and recovery wall! The only gym I'll go to in Austin!! I have tried a few around town and none have lived up to AO. Pat & Brittaney have created such a great atmosphere for the least "athletic" to the most "athletic" people. I fall in the lesser athletic bunch but have seen such an improvement in my mobility, coordination and strength since joining. There is a variety of classes, but the coaches put in a lot of thought into each week so you can see the results you are aiming for. I've been going to AO for about 3 years now and it's the best gym in Austin! I love the mix of classes (cardio, strength, HIIT, personal training) and feel like I could go there everyday and work entirely different parts of my body. The coaches are all extremely knowledgeable and are able to adjust classes for your needs as well. I've also been attending classes during my entire pregnancy and have always felt supported throughout the workout with various modifications. This is way more than a gym. I've developed personal relationships here in a healthy, encouraging environment. AO is different because I'm not just a number. Yes, we're there to work hard and reach our goals but it's actually really fun and I feel comfortable here. It's a diverse yet fit/healthy group with zero pretentiousness. I also had personal training with Pat Cook and he was by far the best trainer I've ever had. My very first session blew my mind- I never thought I could do the things he made me do. Pat changed the way I train forever. I would have never even considered to lift the weight I had if he wasn't there to tell me I could. It amazes me how much his personal training has carried into the way I handle challenges in my personal life. The mental achievements are equally as abundant as the physical reward. Also- there were a few sessions where we trained next to rookie NFL players. How cool is that?! I could go on and on about AO. Athletic Outcomes has the best recovery lounge that is accessible pretty much all day M-F! All staff is supper nice. If you ever have a question both, Brittaney and Patt, are genuine and helpful with their answers. They make everyone feel welcomed at their studio. The facility is always clean and well-putt together. During the workouts B & P are good about making sure everyone has a proper form and you're not hurting yourself. They make their workouts fun, but yet butt-kicking challenging. If you get a chance, check 'em out! Short, sweet, to the point: This is by far one of the best gyms in Austin to take classes if you're looking to challenge yourself, be part of an encouraging community, and see results. A close friend recommended this gym while I was using Class Pass. I immediately quit Class Pass and joined as a member. Instructors Brit and Pat Cook are outstanding fitness professionals who program workouts to give you the most out of your time with form and effectiveness in mind. Benefits from the Recovery Lounge are well worth the 10 minute cold tub and nap time in compression boots. The first time I tried them I felt ready to run a 6 mile loop! As far as classes go, they are all very challenging! AO Fit is a good starting class since there are options to modify exercises to help you grow from your current fitness level or if you have an injury. This is strength and conditioning based so be prepared to do some burpees and squat jumps. It is never the same routine or format and they target different muscle groups on different days. I have been a member for a year and three months now and it's partly due to this; you will never be bored and you can always level it up somehow. You'll hit the treadmill, rowing machine, bicycle, and a set of plyometric exercises in 45 minutes. The aim is to increase your speed on all of these machines and the format is never the same from class to class. It will ALWAYS kick your butt, trust. (But did you die though?. . .) AO Run is a 30 minute coached running class which is limited two people since it's on a treadmill. It's on a treadmill but it is NOT BORING! I was a long distance runner for a while and would absolutely dread my winter treadmill runs because they tended to be boring. Not here! Be prepared to run hills and run fast! AO Strength, no jumping, no cardio, just iron. 4 exercises, 2 for lower body and 2 for upper body. 45 minutes total with a focus on heavy reps and proper form. AO Power is my personal favorite! This class is the love child of AO Speed and AO Strength. (awww. . .) You will alternate between a speed focused exercise and a strength based exercise. These include the rowing machine, the bicycle, the treadmill, a set of plyometrics, and four varied heavy lifting exercises. Talk about learning how to work with an elevated heart rate!!! You'll be ready to survive the zombie apocalypse in no time with this class. I have to say that Brit and Pat are fantastic coaches and motivators. The community they have cultivated at AO is one of encouragement, positive motivation, and just the right amount of competition; from happy hours, to fitness challenges, to baby showers. High fives are encouraged, dad jokes are inevitable, and personal growth is routine. read more

Sydney's strength class is a real butt kicker, and Pat's fit class is the first cardio fitness class in Austin that actually challenged me. My husband and I have been to AO a number of times to see Brittaney for various aches and pains and she is awesome. She came highly recommended from a couple of trainer friends of mine, and he was spot-on. She helped me deal with an annoying lower back strain as well as some tendonitis in my knee. She understands how important it is to stay active when healing since she is so active herself. Brittaney and her husband Pat are both very welcoming and are passionate about their business. I have not personally taken their classes but I have friends that rave about them! I was thrilled to find out my MAT therapist Shanna was taking on a position there. She is just fabulous! She has been doing MAT body work on me for a number of months now, and it has made a HUGE difference in my training. I train 5-6 days a week, sometimes multiple workouts a day. When you train that hard, your muscles get tired and various compensations pup up. When stress is applied to muscles that aren't designed to support heavy work, injuries occur. Since I have been seeing Shanna I have had way less discomfort overall and have been able to push myself harder. I truly get more relief from her sessions than I do from a regular massage. I will tell anyone considering it that it is very different than massage. It is an active process, so no laying down and relaxing like you are probably used to. I just moved to Austin from DC, where I was both a fitness instructor and a regular attendee of both strength and conditioning classes in a variety of formats. I asked friends of mine in the fitness world where I should go for my workouts, and AO consistently came to the top of the list. And for good reason! I tried my first AO workout this past Tuesday night with Pat, and I'm going back for more tonight. Compared to other interval style training that I have taken - AO had some of the best form direction, cueing, and correction that I have seen. Often, classes with stations go through form at the beginning, but then don't follow up with hands on alterations while they are doing the work - I was VERY IMPRESSED with Pat's ability to keep track of everyone and make corrections as needed. Even as a seasoned athlete with a solid idea of what is correct form, he definitely made corrections and offered amplications for me that increased the intensity and effectiveness of the workout. This is as good as it gets when it comes to group fitness training. I am another one that found AO through ClassPass then converted to a full time member. I've tried the AO Fit and Strength classes, and always leave feeling like I got a good, safe and well crafted work out.
