Very personable and had answered all of my questions about the locations schedule and where everything was as far as the locker area, workout stations, etc. Kristie is an asset to the company and 24 is very lucky to have her. Jonathan, Miranda, and Cash who also work the front, they're all great!! I do wanna add, whoever is serious about the gym life, this is the place to be. Come in, do your thing, and get out.

I've been coming here for 15 years, and the pattern is unmistakable: loyal members keep paying, the staff keep holding the place together, and ownership keeps cutting corners while the club falls apart around them. The trainers and frontline staff are not the problem. The problem is ownership and the standards it tolerates. This club is being treated like a cash cow. THE MEN'S LOCKER ROOM IS DISGUSTING * Bugs come out of the drains. * Showers and drains are filthy. * Hair, grime, used Band-Aids, and debris are routinely left behind. * Lockers contain hair and dirt. * Tiles are broken where people walk barefoot. * There appears to be mold in places. * Dirt and hair collect along walls, floors, fixtures, and corners. A member became so frustrated that he wrote the name of a drain-cleaning chemical directly on the wall. These are sanitation failures in a place where people shower and walk barefoot. One diligent cleaner cannot overcome weak standards, inadequate staffing, and deferred maintenance. THE CARDIO EQUIPMENT IS IN TERRIBLE CONDITION There are eight StairMasters. Four are broken. The remaining four operate roughly, with cranking, slipping, and uneven movement that can be felt while using them. Many ellipticals bang at both ends of their range of motion instead of providing smooth, low-impact movement. Powering on does not mean a machine is functioning properly. Weight machines have missing or mismatched pins, missing add-on weight pins, squeaking parts, visible wear, and repairs that can take months. THE ENTIRE CLUB FEELS CHEAPENED The personal training area is poorly lit, surrounded by stained ceiling tiles, has no mirrors, and contains equipment that looks improvised or secondhand. Trainers and members often bring in their own equipment. A useful digital clock was removed and replaced with cheap wall clocks. Small detail, same mentality: replace something functional with the cheapest substitute. The basketball court is routinely dirty, its air conditioning took months to repair, and a once-thriving pickup community has largely disappeared. The answer is not to remove the court. The answer is to maintain it. MEMBER LOYALTY HAS BECOME AN EXCUSE TO BE CHEAP Hancock remains busy because of its location, trainers, and offerings. Continued attendance does not make these conditions acceptable. People have built routines and relationships around this gym. Switching is inconvenient. Ownership seems to understand that and exploit it. The apparent strategy is to cut expenses, delay repairs, push more services, and extract as much revenue as possible while investing as little as possible back into the club. That may help the short-term bottom line, but it is damaging the gym and the brand. 24 HOUR FITNESS CORPORATE SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED Come look at Hancock Center without a corporate tour or advance warning. Look at the drains, broken tiles, showers, stained ceilings, broken StairMasters, banging ellipticals, dirty court edges, and filthy lockers. Then explain how this reflects a company that cares about the quality of its gyms. Hancock does not need another patch job. It needs real investment: deep-clean the locker rooms, repair the wet areas, service or replace failing equipment, improve the training area, maintain the basketball court, and give staff enough resources to meet a reasonable standard. This club has loyal members, good trainers, a valuable location, and a long history in Central Austin. Ownership is cutting maintenance and cleaning below the bare minimum, then greedily pocketing their profits at the expense of the gym, its members, the brand, and the community that supports it.

On top of all of the equipment, the gym has cultivated a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. If I ever have to move out of Austin, I sure am going to miss this place.

You feel like you've stepped into a place built for real training. I hit a chest and triceps workout and found this old-school tricep machine I've never seen before--it felt incredible. Some of the equipment looks like it's been around forever, but it still hits better than most of the polished machines at commercial gyms. Everything here is built to last and made for people who actually lift. The vibe is raw and focused. No egos, no distractions--just people putting in work. It's the kind of place that makes you want to go harder. Only real downsides: the water fountain was out of order, and there's not much in the way of cardio equipment. So bring a water bottle, and if cardio is a big part of your training, you'll need to get that in elsewhere. Still, if you're into that gritty, no-nonsense gym energy, Hyde Park delivers. Just fix that fountain and it's an easy 5 stars

All the staff members that work out at the front desk are so friendly, the always greet me and say goodbye. I was surprised to see so many lifting platforms and different machines I have never seen before. The only complaints that I have is that since this is an older gym, many of equipment is dinged up, but still operable. Also, instead of a posing room, I wished they used the space for a more functional amenity, like a hydromassage bed or a red-light therapy bed. If you are looking for an affordable gym where you can get a great cardio and/or strength training work out, this establishment is a great option since they have a vast variety of machines and equipment.

TLF and Trigger have--no exaggeration--changed my life…read more When I was 10 years old, I had to have major hip surgery. This put me in a wheelchair for 2 months and on crutches for 3 more after that. At the time, my orthopedic surgeon told me, "Yeah, you'll probably just never be a very physical person. Take care of yourself and don't overdo it." As a result, I spent the next 12 years avoiding physical activity, instead building up more and more tolerance for the pain that was a daily part of my life. Issues with my hip caused back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, and neck pain. I was, as I said often, a "broken thing." In my mid-20s (with all the aches and pains of a 70-year-old), I decided to push back against what I saw as a miserable future of pain and debilitation. I tried rock climbing, I tried yoga, I did physical therapy, acupuncture, and gym work. With each new activity, I would have to muster up hope and throw myself into it. Maybe this one will work? Maybe I can make progress? Maybe I can learn to enjoy physical activity? Maybe I'm not a "broken thing"? But every time, no matter how hopeful I was, it wouldn't work. With sports and physical activities, I'd jump in too fast and too hard and injure myself. With the more gentle therapies, it wouldn't work enough to reduce my pain to a manageable level. Every couple years, I'd get up the hope and the willpower to try again, and it wouldn't work. Year after year, this just confirmed in my own mind, "I am a broken thing. Why should I even try?" After a particularly long period of sedentary hopelessness, I decided to try ONE MORE TIME. I checked Yelp and picked the nearest gym to my house. I don't even think I looked at the reviews. At 1AM, I typed up a plea for help and sent it off to TLF. The next day, Trigger contacted me. She started slow, focusing on mobility and targeting all those tiny muscles deep in my joints that had atrophied over 23 years of inactivity and repeated injury. She was patient and incredibly meticulous as she identified each and every limitation I had. She pushed on the ones that were malleable, and she worked around the ones that weren't. Together, we learned all the ins-and-outs of my joints, identifying every flash of pain I felt and targeting it with gentle but persistent attention. At times, it was frustrating, and at times, it was painful. But we did the work, both physically and mentally. Trigger helped me confront the feeling of powerlessness that injury can cause. I moved through all the anger and betrayal I felt toward my body. Slowly, slowly, I started to have confidence in my physical self. And in return, I saw improvements and gains. My joints stabilized, and my flexibility increased. My form got better, and my capacity grew. And the pain started to recede. It was SO slow in the beginning, but I trusted in the process and Trigger didn't let me down. Honestly, it restored my faith. Now, I wake up and, no matter how tired I am, I look forward to that hour with Trigger. We've moved past the therapeutic/mobility phase, and I'm doing more strength work. My body operates so differently now. The pain is gone, my movements are more symmetrical, and I've got more confidence in my abilities. I've begun to trust my body for the first time in my adult life. With that strong foundation in place, the progress is increasing, and I feel incredibly empowered. And all of that is thanks to Trigger and the TLF family. They take the time. They're patient. They're knowledgeable. And they invest in the foundations of healthy movement. That makes so much possible, especially if you suffer from chronic injuries. I've spent 10 years trying to find something that works, and this really really does. I'm so glad that I took the chance on TLF. They've changed my relationship to my body and my outlook on the future. There's still more work to be done, but I'm happy and excited to do it.

I've been training with Sumair for almost a year, so buckle in, this is a long, thorough review!…read more Before I came to see Sumair, I had struggled for years with back and hip issues. I had an extreme lack of mobility, and my pain was at about a 7 or 8 every day. I was limping around at age 36 like a much older person. At that point I had tried everything - tons of physical therapy, 4 different trainers, chiropractors, massage...nothing worked. When I began with Sumair, I couldn't do much of anything. I mean, I had zero range of motion and very little strength. If you're feeling self conscious or scared, please don't let that stop you, we have all been there, and I would argue that is where TrainLifeFit really shines. Sumair has built TLF to be a holistic program. What makes it so great is that it is a body/mind/emotions program. What does it matter if you can do a proper push up if your mind has been programmed to believe that you CAN'T do things because you "just don't have the body for it"? Because I am petite and small, that's what I had been told. I'd also been told that my pain was just my "new normal," and to get used to it, so Sumair also had to help me overcome my sad sad sad mental programming about my body. He also taught me about mechanics and how to recognize what was going on with my body. That understanding was reinforced through the homework he gave me, so now I have the ability to identify what's happening and work through it on my own. That's important for the other days when I'm not training with him, and I cannot overstate how much it improved my relationship with my body. I now understand it and know what it needs. So my result is, less than a year later, my pain is at about a 1. I have gained significant strength, stability and muscle mass. My winter coat didn't fit this year because my arms and back had gotten bigger! My mobility is excellent and I have recently begun to run again, an activity I had been told wasn't available for me anymore. But most importantly, I trust my body. I know it is capable of much more than I had been told. I understand it, I have a vocabulary to describe what is happening with it, and I no longer treat it like an annoying employee by getting frustrated when it doesn't do what I say. So you can train anywhere. But if you want a transformation, I recommend TrainLifeFit.

It's a place to learn how to lift correctly, take care of your body, and build the type and amount of muscle that you want to feel strong and healthy. I like that there are water stations and towels available all throughout the gym, as well as TVs throughout the gym to help you through your workout. When I joined, I was given a complimentary personal training session and an intro session, which was really helpful in learning the layout of the gym and different workout configurations that will work best for my body and fitness goals. I have also had the opportunity to check out a bunch of classes, too, and my favorite by far has been sculpt with Natalie or with Jay. Both are phenomenal instructors, and I swear I have never sweat so much in my life as I do in their sculpt classes! Worth it! The locker rooms are very clean and well-equipped with towels, shampoo/conditioner/lotion, feminine products, hair care technology (blow dryers, flat irons, etc), mouthwash, deodorant, etc. The only thing I will say is that the sauna in the women's locker room is pretty small and only seats 4-5 people. They also keep it at a pretty low heat for a dry sauna (~140-150) for some reason. Nevertheless, it does the job eventually, you just may not have a spot to sit at peak times.
