    The gym set up

I just did a group HIIT workout here and the quality of the workout along with the motivation of the coach was excellent! I appreciated that it's a gym of former pro athletes that understand body mechanics and what works.

Such a great workout at my new obsession! If you have not heard about MADabolic you have to check out this place out! One of the best workout you will get in under an hour! Also some of the friendliest members and staff! Thanks for a kick butt workout! #workout #trainer #training #atx #athlete #madabolic

The team at MADabolic delivers a great service and builds a fantastic community here in Austin. I've been going here a little over a month and look forward to every workout they offer. The coaches offer great athletic conditioning and help bring out the best in each person attending the workout. I have tried several studios in Austin through ClassPass and this has been one of the best out there. So good, in fact, that I dropped my ClassPass subscription down and joined their gym. I highly recommend this gym and all they offer.

Although I'm more of a yogi than an intense HIIT kind of girl, MAD is welcoming to all levels of fitness and completely non-judgemental.

First off, I had an Austin address which is required for the day pass. Secondly, I entered basic info and signed the waiver. I didn't have to then meet with a sales rep who would used high pressure sales tactics (scarcity, urgency, blah blah) to enjoy jt workout (unlike my LA Fitness experience). The gym would either sell itself or it wouldn't. Tomas at the front desk was very warm and personable, a very refreshing exchange. As for the gym itself, I like the layout, but it's definitely outdated. I'm going with a gym closer to me that is higher end, but I recommend using the day pass (if you're an Austin resident) to see if it's a good fit for you or not.

The place isn't fancy, the medium-hard sell on personalized training is annoying but avoidable, but overall, it's a decent place. Most patrons are there to exercise rather than sit on a machine and smartphone away, and a good 85% of them exercise good gym courtesy.

For those who may not be familiar with Matt Pilates, it is a low-impact, floor-based exercise using the equivalent of a Yoga matt. It focuses on core strength, posture, flexibility, and controlled breathing. Matt Pilates differs from Reformer Pilates, which uses spring-loaded machines aka as reformers. Matt Pilates relies on your body weight and gravity for resistance. Most big box gyms offers Matt pilates, whereas Reformer Pilates usually occur at Pilates studios or higher end gym locations. A Pilates Reformer can easily cost $200-$250+ per month. Many movie stars like Gwenth Paltrow and Dakota Johnson swear by Reformer Pilates. I have only done a trial membership with Reformer Pilates. Matt Pilates is very affordable and usually included in your gym membership, making it cost-effective. After my Matt Pilates class I was so Zen, I felt like taking a nap. However, after hitting the ignition key, I left my Zen state.

Not sure why it's so hard to fix things. The cable machine has been broken well over 50 days. And counting. Also, the people who open the club on the weekends are consistently late. In fact, I'm writing this on the parking lot waiting for the gym to open - should have opened 10 minutes ago. A few weeks ago someone strolled in around 8:17 when it should have opened at 8. This started out so promising. What happened?

People walking around shirtless, dripping sweat, stinking, in bare feet, only socks, crocs, and Teva sandles. Nasty. Old dilapidated and low quality dumbbells, only 2 old treadmills and a few of the manual treadmills, no fixed weight barbells, a bathroom falling apart with the toilet bowl cover hanging on by one hinge. No air conditioning. Hot and smelly. Humid atmosphere. Couldn't draw up a worse gym in my imagination. To me it's 1 star but I guess to cross fit cultists this is what they like. Only a few smoothie choices and no chicken wraps or anything in their nutrition bar or whatever it's called. If you know how to work out and don't need or want a trainer or group then this place is definitely not for you. They do an incredible job on marketing and must edit photos or take superb angles like a catfish on tinder. Almost thinking they pay influencers to hype this place up. Either way I'd prefer the most basic Planet Fitness or Crunch 100x over this. In fact I'd rather get chubby and not work out over having to work out in an environment like this again.

The workouts are tough but the best thing is that they are ALWAYS different. It's never the same boring old routine. They recently got an infrared sauna too! Their class times align to people who work long hours in addition to people who don't work as you can attend the 6am or 7am classes ( that's where I'm at ) or the 12pm or 5:30pm classes. I enjoy this class so much more then I ever enjoyed Barre, Yoga or CrossFit. It's just a true combination of everything and that makes it so much more doable as it never gets boring. Random body parts are always sore. They also always provide alternatives if you have an injury. The class is super diverse. People of ALL ages and ALL weights. It's refreshing. You're not intimated but you're also motivated. Personal tip: If Lateef doesn't immediately respond to your email just email again. He's an actual owner hustler as he teaches so many of his classes and does a lot of personal training and he doesn't have an assistant so he juggles it all on his own. Fit Austin is totally worth it so don't get upset just send a follow up and he will respond. It's worth it!!!!

I have an unlimited membership for $150 a month where I can go every day to the gym. They have different packages and price points though. Some people have told me my package is expensive and if you are one of those people, rearrange your budget so that you can come to Fit Austin. Seriously, I love this place and you get your money's worth! The classes are 45 minutes with a warm up and cool down and they are intense (in a good way). They are small and the trainers are great! The classes are always different and work different parts of your body. You will never get bored with the classes here! It really is almost like personal training without the high budget. Although from the reviews here and what I have heard, Lateef and the rest of the trainers are amazing at personal training. I have to give a shout out to Lane LeBlanc who is currently a trainer there. She is super great, friendly, very encouraging and knowledgeable. I always look forward to any class with her! You have many time options every day for the classes and everyone there is friendly. They have bathrooms, a water bottle fill up station and showers if needed and a new sauna! If you are looking for a gym, don't look any further. Whether you need personal training or want to go to classes, this is the place for you!

The Megaformer was more elaborate and had more functionality than the wooden reformers that I had used in the past. Spots were not preassigned, so I was able to sit next to my friend. The class was 45 minutes long and designed to tone your body. Urban Lagree is a high-intensity, low impact strength training workout.
