    I relocated from San Antonio about two months ago and the first thing I wanted to accomplish in Austin was finding a gym. To be specific. I wanted a gym that had CrossFit, weightlifting, and if I was lucky- strongman. When it comes to choosing a gym, community is incredibly important to me. I just want to be around great people who are encouraging, competitive, and fun. In my first week, I tried 5 different gyms. SoChac was in my top two. The ultimate reason I became a member was because CrossFit SoChac really is the whole package. The owner, Heather is a fantastic connector. She wasn't able to get me into the weightlifting class early on, but she continuously followed up with me so I could give it a try. Follow-up is SO important and Heather ensures she does what she says she will. The members of this gym are refreshing. I love the range of personalities here.... all of them bring something unique and enticing to the gym. The programming here is also something I'm drawn to. There are always ways to make it more or less challenging depending on what you want to do. Really excited to be a member and to continue become a better athlete!

I've never tried spin and I'm so glad I ran into Aaron's page on FB! I've been coming here for 3 weeks doing free classes (he is building his business) and it's been so much fun. For someone to not know ANYONE in TX other than my own family, it feels good to come here & meet new people that work just as hard as you on the bike! So if you are just starting- For me being new, finding the place was fine. I had to slow down because there are 2 entrances but he has a banner out in front saying Drenched. I guess it was kind of challenging for me bc I go at 5:30a or 6a class and it's still dark out. Lol When I first walked in there it seemed as if people were already comfortable with one another.. but the instructor Aaron welcomes you with open arms. 10 bikes available. He teaches you the basics of spin & reassures you that you go at your own pace until you get the hang of it. Aaron has DJ lighting & turns off all the lights during the ride but you can still see your way around just in case you need to get off and leave or use the restroom. He provides towels just in case you forget yours. But I recommend to bring your own towel AND water! He has wipes to wipe down the bike before and after. After the ride, he closes off with stretching. The music for his classes are generally hip hop, pop, & sometimes rock. Warning: his music can be explicit but I personally don't mind. I actually like it better that way lol. So this is your FAIR warning. Lol You will be doing some choreography on the bikes. They are not hard but also not simple. The music is there for you to stay on beat. So that means.. pedal pedal pedal! Times for the classes are pretty basic. Early morning, morning time, lunch hour and night classes. To make things easier it's best to download the app. You will leave this class DRENCHED. Have not tried HIIT with Drenched yet, but once I do.. If your fitness goals include getting heart healthy, losing weight, etc OTF is the perfect place to start. I signed up for my first complimentary class online, and was contacted by the store manager, Dorothy, via phone call & text a few times. When I finally was able to schedule, I was able to easily text back and state when I wanted to come in. If the class has availability, you'll be able to get booked. For your first class, it's suggested to come early to sign forms and to familiarize yourself with the equipment and terms. My coach for the first class was Becky. I loved how welcoming Becky was and I felt comfortable coming in for my first fitness class since pre-covid. I love how Becky keeps you accountable. For my follow-up class, Mickey blew me away. Mickey has SO much energy and with the addition of her playlist, YOU ARE READY TO ROCK THIS!! Now for the cons... since these are essentially group fitness classes, if you are new to exercises, not much of a breakdown is provided. Form is important to me coming from an exercise science background. If your form is all wrong, you could easily injure yourself. The lack of space in between members doesn't help either for those needing modification/accommodations. Lastly, for new members, companies are typically supposed to overhype their product/s to the customer. Instead, service fell flat. I wanted OTF to sell it to me! Why OTF and not just any other gym or boutique studio? What's the purpose of purchasing OTF's heart rate monitors v wearing my own Fitbit/Apple watch? Why are splat points important? Questions I'll never have the answer to.

My billing period started that day so technically it wasn't a "free" day:/ At first I thought it might be a little intimidating because it is an hour workout. The workout is typically broken out into three sections: threadmill, rowing, and floor weights. Even though I had never tried the rower, I've learned how to do things with each class. I like that you can go at your own pace so it is doable. I've also tried different coaches who motivate you and give you tips. Knocking a star because some of the machines sometimes have issues or Re broken. Overall I'm really enjoying this gym and already seeing results!

It was a 12 or 12:30 class, so it was packed with people on their lunch hour. It seemed like everyone knew each others' names, so I did feel a little on the outside, but once the class started all I thought about was the workout. The music was pumping, the energy was high, and the vibes were there! My second class was an 8:30am ride with Jabs, who was subbing for someone else. Jabs easily made fun conversation throughout the ride and also had great energy. They were really friendly, as well! Finally, my third ride was with JaCorey, who made us all forget that it was 8:30am. The ride passed by so quickly and I really enjoyed it! The space itself is well thought-out, with enough space between bikes but still creating a close community feel. I appreciate the lockers outside of the bike room, where everyone keeps their items so as not to bring them into the bike room. The people at the front desk are friendly and inviting, too. I look forward to my next ride!
