I love to workout, but I have never been a fan of HIIT.

I was visiting Austin last week and was excited to try out the Barry's location, since I go a few…read moretimes every week in the Bay Area. What a great experience! The Austin location is gigantic! They have two rooms for classes- one Red Room (the one I was in), and I believe the other room was for lifting only. The class size is also larger than what I am used to, which was cool. I took two classes and both were great, but Phillip's was especially awesome! Not only did he have great energy and curated a great ACL-themed playlist, but also included some facts about ACL throughout the class which was super fun! I had brought a guest who had never been to Barry's before and she even mentioned a few days later how awesome he was! Everyone at the front desk was super nice and helpful as well. I look forward to my next trip back to Barry's Austin!

For Barry's corporate please do not contact me regarding this review…read more UPDATE: Several instances had happened at this location when I come in to workout: Recently bullying to other members regarding who spots its assigned to... this has been become concerning such saying "you took T12 that's my spot... or You took F19 that's my spot, etc." Childish behavior has been observed as members are unable to adapt to being flexible to which spot they want to be assigned to. I hear you but understand you can't have everything YOUR WAY! 7/13/25 an incident happened where a member kicked my waterbottle underneath the treadmill and caused me to fall off. No front desk staff member was able to resolve the issue since it takes 15 minutes for front desk to get someone to grab my water bottle and temporarily move me to another treadmill. This could have been prevented in moving me to another treadmill spot quickly than waiting for 15 minutes which wasted my class time. A Member there builled me stating it wasn't a big deal and senses it was not an issue at all and cares about himself and not for others. another instance was around this time last year when another member forced me to switch spots with them during a free class when it was sold out without checking in with front desk. These events both are reasons why I will not come back to Barry's Austin. The instructors did their duties the front desk is held at responsible for their actions not handling the situation in a professional manner. Lastly, compensating credit to say sorry has become a mental health issue to me. It's time for me to exit the Barry's Austin. Note: This negative review will stay posted. Alright, I suppose it's about time for me to write this review. I've been going to Marlow's Fitness…read moresince January 20th. I know that exact date because that was the date I read the Yelp reviews and texted a couple of friends and held my breath and jumped in this "Marlow's Movement" thing whole hog. It was... painful. It many ways. Physically of course with the weight lifting and whatnot. But also emotionally. It's bizarrely difficult to go from a generally sedentary lifestyle to something that requires five days a week and twice on Saturdays. Not. Joking. It's like slipping into someone else's life. It's not bad -- just uncomfortable. His program uses a couple of things to get you to show up and keep going. 1. Accountability: You're accountable to your team and to the program. Your participation, steps, team, weight goals, etc are all being tracked through your fitbit and myfitnesspal. 2. A reward system: If your team or you "win" the program, then you go on an all expenses paid trip to Cancun. You stay at an all-inclusive resort with the other winners. 3. Community: Since all classes are small (14 peopleish) you get to know everyone else in the movement. You become this kind of "we're all in this together" family. 4. Uncomplicated Workouts: 30 minutes of whatever cardio you prefer and 30 minutes of 45 second intervals of weights/body weight exercises. Also you'll participate in some external activities - 5Ks, Saturday morning walks, a scavenger hunt. I lost weight and continue to go to class, building my muscle, getting in better shape and it's legitimately the first time I've been able to keep it off and continue to workout. I mean, I love the ease of crash diets but just feels better.
