Koco-Java is a quaint little coffee shop in the heart of downtown Salisbury. Whether you're looking for a quick coffee and pastry, or a spot to catch up with friends and watch life cruise by, this spot is a great place to sit and sip. Their drive-thru has a constant loop of cars and their parking is limited to about 15 or so spots. If you're looking to plug in and work, try to snag one of the high top tables along the wall, otherwise, outlets are limited. They have a a variety of different roasts but I was very concerned with the lack of a roasting date posted on each bag. There's no way of telling whether those coffee beans lined across the shelves are stale or fresh. The coffee bags are very affordable at about $15 per but again, you could be buying stale coffee beans. I ordered a latte with no flavors hoping to taste the coffee but it was overpowered by the excessive amount of milk. I basically drank milk with a slight hint of coffee. Seemingly, this place focuses more on trendy/viral flavors than the coffee itself which is great for their clientele! Not only are their specialty flavors and blended drinks on their regular menu but there was also a monthly drink special board at the front that included drinks like Tiramisu Latte and Gingerbread Oat. They're so busy in here that they don't collect your name, they just call out the drinks. I ordered a cheese danish that was just left at the counter without my knowledge. To my pleasant surprise, it was warmed up and was still warm when I finally got it. Another woman was also just waiting for her blueberry muffin but with 2 bags just sitting on the counter, we had to flag someone down to check the bags for us. Overall, I would still recommend this place unless any of the things mentioned are your pet peeves.

Loved it! To start, the parking lot is a decent size. You can also park along the street if it gets full. They offer a warm, cozy, and inviting atmosphere. The music was light (which I like so it's not overwhelming), and the variety was good. The dining area was clean and comfortable. The shop offers several seating options including a small patio, comfy armchairs, semi-booths, and high top tables. The service was great. You can tell the baristas are locals who care about and build relationships with their patrons. During my very brief wait, I observed them greeting everyone like an old friend. One staff member greeted a customer by name and correctly prepped his drink before the he ordered. It gives all the "close community" vibes. I tried the basic Chai Tea Latte and a bagel with cream cheese. Both were delicious. The bagel was especially surprising. It was the perfect blend of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. And the blueberry flavor! I wish I lived closer. This would absolutely be my spot!

This was INCREDIBLE coffee. Absolutely a ton of flavor. I got their pumpkin fall flavor which was packed with different spices. They had a lot of different fall flavors and made sure they actually tasted like what you were ordering. The staff was very friendly and we got our coffee very fast. They have ample inside seating and it was very clean.

We stopped by koco Java during a food crawl day in Salisbury over the summer and it didn't even feel like we were in Salisbury. The interior was a sleek, bohemian style with lots of space for patrons. They had a huge menu full of items plus seasonal specials prepared hot, iced, or frozen so there's options for every kind of coffee drinker. They also have a gigantic casing full of pastries to go with their coffees. As if that wasn't enough, they have a whole section full of merch ranging from coffee mugs to tumblers with their logo. Next time I'm in the Salisbury area I'm definitely making Koco Java my stop for coffee!

Best latte ever. I had a latte(hot) with oat Mike. Really nice place to have a cup of coffee and rest. The service was so great. The sisters at the front desk were very friendly and inviting. Koco Java also provides a nice and cozy atmosphere and the music is light and nice.

I really enjoyed this cozy spot in Salisbury! It's a nice open space and I enjoyed the latte I got. They have a lot of different flavors available and I ordered a cookie butter latte. The service was really great, staff very kind. Highly recommend!

The blackberry latte was a special and it was one of the best coffees I've ever had, hands down. It was sweet without being too sweet and man oh man, that cold foam really put it over the top. During a meeting in downtown Salisbury, a colleague recommended we walk to Koko Java during a break for some coffee. This unassuming coffee shop is warm, inviting, and lovely inside. The staff was friendly. With a few food options, multiple hot and cold choices of coffee and tea, and ample seating, the establishment was really a gem. The coffee was fantastic and inexpensive. I wish I had purchased a bag to go. I'll definitely be back.

I really like Koco Java and they have fast service which I was impressed with! Fastest place in town-or even compared to Charlotte. They have a huge variety of drinks to choose from. My only complaint, which is minor, is that everything is so sweet! All the lattes, that is. Even when I ask for less sweet, it's sometimes too much. Not a huge deal if you look at the friendly and fast service. Everyone that works here is VERY nice and helpful. I appreciate all of their hard work. They have small breakfast items and also smoothies. The smoothies have a great price point and I'd love to try them sometime. I will most certainly be back!!

First timer here. Visiting from California Not being a local, I asked Eric, the owner of the Skinny Wheels Bike Shop, where I could find coffee and he told me this place was "my jam" so I walked the 3-4 blocks from his shop to Koco Java to check it out Glad I did. Great coffee. Great prices. Great people. My only regret? I'd just eaten breakfast and even though the pastries looked amazing, I had to pass. I'm hoping to get another shot at them before I head home, UPDATE: Today is Monday-two days later. Enjoying a bike ride of several hours exploring around this beautiful town. Decided to stop back by cuz I had to try that cinnamon bun I'd seen... Wow! Is this a great find. They purchase them at a nearby Amish market and they are amazing. Coffee is way hot; just like I like it and this cinnamon roll to a great complement. Only bad news? Leave for home in California tomorrow

Best cafe in Salisbury, and service and quality is better the Starbucks. It is a spacious cafe with lots of comfy seating! It's quite enough to study, or a nice little cafe to catch up with friends while having your kiddos with you! It also has a drive threw window and they are always very quick! The quality of the coffee/expresso is the best. I gave up being a loyal Starbucks goer when I found this place! The employees are always sweet and greet you with a smile. I absolutely love it! They only offer muffins, scones and baked goods not a wide food selection but still a great place to get your coffee! read more

This is my second time visiting Koco Java, and each time I go I love it even more. Koco Java sells more than both hot and cold coffee, they also sell hot chocolate, smoothies, and ice-blended drinks as well. Each time that I have gone to Koco Java, I have been through the drive through. You can tell that the employees are sweet and respectful, based on how they take your order and how patient they are while you are trying to order your drinks. While waiting you can see them prepare your drinks with such care and delicacy. The prices a here are really good. I typically go I get either a medium or grande hot chocolate. The medium hot chocolate costs $2.40 while the grande costs $2.65. These prices are really good compared to other high up coffee shops. There isn't a drink here that costs over $4.50. If you're wanting a cheap but really good drink, you should go to Koco Java. Their hot chocolate is the best I had ever tasted. It wasn't too sweet where you'll get diabetes, but it also wasn't too bland where it tasted like milk or water. What I'm trying to say is that the hot chocolate was perfect and is one of the best places to buy from. My friends had gotten iced coffees and they said that it was really good. From personal experiences the hot chocolate is the best thing you could get if you're not a coffee drinker. If you're ever in Salisbury, NC you should most definitely go to Koco Java. read more

Koco Java is by far one of the most impressive independent coffee shops around. They have a large selection of coffee based drinks. They also have a wide variety of coffee blends (most are available for sale by the pound). Service is fast and friendly. The shop is very clean and seating is comfortable. Koco Java even has a drive thru. By and far, this shop is superior to the two coffee shops chain franchises located in Salisbury. read more

Koco Java is the best place to go for your beverage needs. They have a variety of specialty beverages and bakery items. The specialty drinks are creative and unique. In addition you are able to make customizations. The bakery items are always fresh and delicious. There smoothie options are by far the best in the city. read more

I miss Koco Java! This was a great place to get schoolwork done or just relax with friends after class while I was in college in Salisbury. The owners and staff are friendly, the service is fast, and the coffee is brilliant. Their prices are also great (especially when you're a college student on a budget). Arturo makes an amazing caramel macchiato. That thing is heavenly. I also enjoy their iced coffees, smoothies, and pastries. read more

A great little place on Main across from the Courthouse (plus one block) The staff was very friendly and willing to try to make something outside the norm. The pastry selection was low by the time I got there but the scone was good and not too sweet. There are tables outside in front, tables inside including a large conference table that can be reserved and some comfy looking leather sofas and chairs. Oh yeah, the coffee was good! read more

By far the best independent coffee shop in the area. We always stop in when we're downtown Salisbury. It has a comfortable friendly vibe, and service is friendly. Coffee is very good, tho my breve coffee lacked it's usual boldness this morning. My wife's mocha was very good. They have excellent bulk coffee available in many varietals and reasonably priced for the high quality. Excellent baked goods and teas available as well. read more

Really excellent coffee...I've had their Americanos and other espresso drinks and the quality is consistently high. The only complaint I have is that the coffee is served too hot. I understand that some people like it hot, even I like it fairly hot, but the temperature it comes out makes it not drinkable or enjoyable for about 10-15 minutes. Considering the above, one may want to ask for it to not come out as hot. I'll try that request next time... With the loss of Port City Java over near Innes and Mahaley a few years ago, this is now my local coffee spot to enjoy when I'm in the Salisbury area (which isn't often, considering I live in Dallas-Fort Worth). read more

Great place to stop along the way if you have time. They have delicious pastries and coffee. We had a mocha frappe which was delicious! The seating area is perfect for spending a few minutes or am hour to study. Get atmosphere and the staff was friendly and happy. read more

Koco is a fabulous coffee shop with a large variety. They are easily accesible with a location right in Downtown Salisbury. They even have a drive thru window!!! I bought a small plain latte, which is my drink of choice. It was very strong, which I like, but lacked the nice milky froth that I enjoy. I gave them a 4 star rating because it's a cute, locally owned coffee shop which I believe we should all support (no Starbucks unless it's an emergency or lack of options) and it was a nice latte to sip on. I didn't indulge in the window that had filled with goodies but the cream cheese Danish looked sinful! May pick one up the next time I'm in Salisbury! Until next time...... read more

Wonderful coffee and friendly staff. The folks sitting on the couches even greeted us. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, and they were full of suggestions. I got a wonderful latte. We always go back when visiting here, at least 4 times a year. We try to go everyday we are in the area. read more

It simply doesn't get any better than Koco Java for coffee, atmosphere, & friendly service. They know my family & I by name often having drinks prepared in advance. They roast there own coffee beans on site so when we're not getting our coffee at there shop we're enjoying it at home. Give it a try you'll you will not be disappointed. Have a great day! This is by far the best coffee joint in Salisbury. Arturo roasts his coffee on site to perfection, producing quality coffee. They have several options to choose from including coffee you can brew at home. Not only do they have excellent coffee, they also have very good customer service along with a very nice sitting area. If you are looking to meet someone, have a business meeting, or just study - this is the place. Highly recommend! read more

I have reviewed KOCO JAVA before--why it wasn't posted on Yelp, I've no idea, so here I am again. Koco Java merits five stars. It feels like Salisbury's lving room--a place to kick back, relax, laugh, or just read a book or study. I see lots of students here, and professional people as well--and people like me, who just love the place. I feel welcome here. The coffees are wonderful, the mocha to die for--and the spinach scones, WITHOUT butter(I love fresh biscuits and butter, and black pepper on them) or anything else, are meals on their own. The prices are reasonable, and the people are kind. What more can I say?? Visit Koco Java, and see for yourselves! read more

The only coffee shop in downtown Salisbury, and the best coffee shop in Salisbury. I am pleasantly surprise to find such a nice coffee shop. Coffee is great. The seating is awesome. Perfect place to sit and relax. I was here when it was raining heavily in Salisbury. I enjoyed watching the rain while having the coffee inside ;-) I think I found the great place to go for a coffee and unwind over the weekend. read more

Delicious!!!!! I love non-corporate coffee houses and this is one of the best bar none. Berta and Art are wonderful baristas!!!!!!! They make you feel welcome and put pride into everything they serve. If you live in the near by cities or even counties, it is worth the drive to enjoy all that they serve. I come up regularly from China Grove. read more

Great to have a successful independently owned coffee place in Salisbury. I really don't like to support Starbucks due to their politics. All of my visits have been satisfactory with coffee and drinks prepared exactly the way I expected. And best of all, served at a reasonable price. Highly recommend. read more

My friend had a cinnamon crunch bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese, and said it was delicious! We ate every bite! It was also fast service! Four of us were able to place orders, eat, socialize, and get out in less than an hour. Super speedy! Minus one star because it is so smoky inside. They have a grill area where they cook, which is fine, but there is no hood/ventilation and so when they grill anything, the smoke just goes out into the restaurant. The four of us who ate there smelled like bacon smoke the entire afternoon. Will continue to eat from here, just maybe not inside until the ventilation sees an improvement.

Delicious coffee and pastries, great service, very personable owners! Definitely my favorite coffee place in Salisbury. The owners are always the ones serving you, so you get top quality service. They aren't just random employees like at most coffee shops, so they really care about their customers and want to give you a good experience and they will! I have never had a negative experience here. Love the regular coffee, lattes, specialty drinks, bagels, and especially the cupcakes, which are locally made and fresh. I go through the drive through on a regular basis, but the inside is super comfy and great for meetings or for getting some work done. I meet up with my girlfriends here for a chat, and I meet clients for business meetings here, too. read more

I work Monday through Friday and don't live in Salisbury , but I will drive to Salisbury just to get a coffee on Saturday.
