Breakfast taco and a wonderful latte.

The name is different but the coffee and food are fabulous and the staff is even better!

Glory Beans Coffeehouse - 134 West Main Street, Downtown Albemarle Went for the first time with Family at noon. Not busy, huge space, good noise level, clean. Free street parking. They highlight local artists and crafts which we thought was really cool. The coffee was so good couple of different flavors and medium was --- .80 cents a cup! Whaat!? Muffins, some desserts which looked great. Loved my chicken pesto panini on sour dough - tender chicken, great flavor pesto. A win! They gave a little cookie that was a light strawberry flavor. Avocado toast on sourdough (so healthy for you). Great Cheezy Biddie Sammich on sourdough! Another great sandwich. Nutella dessert crepe - there was nothing left of it. Liked that they put cut strawberry and a little piece of cantaloupe on the side. Fluffy pancake and a side of sausage patty, MIL loved it (comes with 3 pancakes but she only wanted one). $6!! Again - cannot beat the prices, portions AT ALL. Five people are and were full for apx. $40 before tip. Connie Blaylock is the owner, she visited the table, made sure everything was good. She also had worked for Rose Briar, another wonderful staple for great desserts and home cooked food, in Albemarle. Worth a visit, you can't beat the wonderful home cooking. Quality ingredients and great service. Can't wait to go back and try a few other dishes! Downtown Albemarle, quaint and lots of small shoppes to enjoy if you want to go for a walk.

Walked in and it was love at first vibe! What a breath of fresh air. Can't believe I've lived local for a year and just discovered this gem. Inside area is much larger than expected, and had feel of coffee house you might find in Asheville or Blowing Rock. Staff was wonderful. We did not order them, but they have mimosas and such for brunch. The grits are local and fabulous. We really enjoyed our breakfast and will be back!

Becca crepe, has eggs, bacon and avocado. Delicious

The best place in the Albemarle area for breakfast or just coffee if you're not hungry. The only place in town serving real grits, not quick cook or instant, real grits, the kind you have to wait for because you can't rush a real grit. We've been several times for breakfast and had the grit bowl (country ham and eggs in mine), Becca crepe. Delicious. Chicken panini is wonderful too. The coffee and specialty drinks are wonderful and the baked goods at the counter. The inside is adorable and the resell local crafters and artists work.

The menu offers the classic breakfast staples, but the food itself lacked flavor and was fairly ordinary. Nothing was poorly cooked, but there wasn't anything that stood out or made me want to come back. The service was also just okay--it wasn't particularly attentive. One of the biggest frustrations was discovering that the restaurant is cash only. There was no obvious notice when you entered, and didn't realize it until it was time to pay, when I noticed a small sign near the cash register. In today's world, where most restaurants accept cards or mobile payments, it would be helpful if this policy were posted more prominently at the entrance or mentioned before ordering. Overall, I can understand why it's a familiar spot for many locals, but based on my experience, it didn't offer anything that set it apart from an average breakfast diner. I left feeling disappointed, especially considering all of the recommendations.

Everyone knew everyone and they were welcoming. Young lady cooking kept the griddle full Ordered coffee and a Big 3 egg omelet with hash browns. The omelet has bacon, sausage, tomato, onions and peppers. It was a hearty breakfast and the portion size was just enough to join the clean plate club. One thing to know is bring cash. No cards accepted. They didn't give me a hard time. They pointed me to the "service station" a block up the road to the nearest ATM and they save my coffee and breakfast for when I returned. All my travels this throwback diner will be remembered when I am next in Albemarle.. Thanks!

The inside feels like (or is?) part counter restaurant and part antiques store. I knew I had come for a hot dog and the folks behind the counter were patient while I decided on a side item, ultimately settling on onion rings. I hung out until they handed me a paper bag with my order. I had parked right out front so I didn't have far to go to enjoy my lunch. Everything (especially the onion rings) was really hot. The footlong was really good. The dog itself might have been fried and it was great to see pretty full coverage across the full dog. Onion rings were pretty greasy, as evidenced by the dark spot soaking through the paper bag. They were tasty though. I did go back in to ask for an extra couple ketchup packets. If I'm in the area, I'd return to Goody Shop cafe and try some of their other offerings.

The person on the other end of the phone said no problem. I asked how much the order would be. She said $20 something. To which I reiterated that I was only ordering the patties. She replied that she had to charge me for 3 burgers. To which I replied that I would have to cancel the order as I cannot afford to spend over $20 on lunch when I can go to Wendys and get 3 patties for 7or 8 dollars. Then she said that I should just go to Wendys and get those patties and disconnected the call. I was expecting to spend more than what it would cost me at Wendys but not over 2x as much. Then the rudeness to top it off. Disappointing... I had heard such good things about their food...

Whispering Pines is as good as it gets. Founded in 1945, they still cook their barbecue using real wood that you can smell before you see it stacked by the building. The food is fast to the table and delicious. You can pay at the register, or if you don't need change, you can leave your money on the table. We got a kids chicken tenders with tater tots, chopped barbecue sandwich, and chili cheese tots. The waitress asked me if I wanted slaw on my sandwich, to which I said yes, and she reminded me that they use red slaw, which is just fine. I know what side of the state I live on, and when in the western part, you eat red slaw. The barbecue wasn't dry and I didn't put any sauce on it.
