When we're ordering, I asked for no pork dumplings for religious reasons. When they served my food, they came with a platter full of dumplings. I find this unacceptable and after some arguing I had it sent back to the kitchen. When it came time to pay, they asked for a tip. I only had 1 dollar, so I tipped 50 cents. The lady then muttered some words, and it sounded like she said 'I thought u dirty arabs had more money'. I will not be coming back. EVER.

Kobe is a great neighborhood sushi spot! The prices are super reasonable and delivery is free if you order through Yelp. We started with the Gyoza which were solid and then we had a variety of rolls. I ordered the veggie rolls because I don't eat fish and the shiitake roll was tasty but a little inconsistent in texture. The avocado roll was yummy and my boyfriend enjoyed his rolls too. Good reliable pick for takeout sushi!

A stumble upon. I stopped in for green tea ice cream and ended up ordering the salmon avocado salad as well (I was using a card so...$10 limit). Social distancing is enforced (you order at the foyer) and hand sanitizer is provided. The staff is gracious and appreciate the business. The salad was very good...I'd definitely order that again. Its a few blocks from my physicians office so I will definitely have the opportunity to stop by again.

I've ordered regular rolls here before for lunch. This time I ordered the Chirashi Lunch Special and expected it to be so much more appetizing but received something I felt was just slapped together really quickly for the sake of delivery. Not worth $18 at all. Quite disappointed.

My go to on sushi take out prior vegan 2yrs ago, and I'm back! Very excited about there variety of veggie rolls. The sweet potato tempura and Inari & cucumber roll are my fave. Don't crave this on a Saturday they are closed! Strange day to be closed..

Kobe is the sort of place that is local and you want to root for. I went with a friend from the neighborhood. I pointed out that there were better rated sushi places in town but they wanted to stick with what they knew. First off we walked into the cheery confines of Kobe and were greeted liked we were walking into the Cheers bar. The manager and waiter knew our group and said hi and had a cheery bow. We chose to sit at the sushi bar at my behest. It was a brightly lit spot, with a colorful interior. The owner spoke with us a bit. Mostly noting how slow it had been and business was bad. The sashimi and sushi came out and was extravagant. 2 of the 3 rolls we got were house rolls that were on the special board. Over all not too great. They were very large, making it tough to manage in a bite. They also were loose enough that while attacking the rolls we had trouble getting at them without falling apart. The quality was good for the most part. If in the area, not too bad. And a good price

Amazing sushi at an affordable price. Cozy little sushi spot on the upper east side. Sushi chef Mike always takes care of you and offers very fresh options. Love coming here for the lunch special or for a quick bite to eat. Will be back for sure!

Was walking in the area with my mom and passed by on the way to a bakery, but good thing we turned back. One of the staff members opened the door for us. It's wheelchair accessible. Attentive and helpful staff. Great first impression of the place - garden decor, chandeliers/ambient lighting. Got the Creme Anglaise souffle pancakes - with fresh fruits, very light and fluffy, not too sweet. Ice cream sounded simple on the menu - though just a small scoop, it came with red bean paste, fresh fruits so not bad @$6. Rose latte is rosy of course with crushed petals. Liked the food presentation, cute spoons. Will surely return. Restroom available.

The soufflé pancake was very airy but so so small and i wish they added more fruits to it . The drink I got was lychee and it wasn't what i expected which was disappointing . Food is a bit pricey after tax and tip. Service the staff was very nice but literally went to us way too fast before we can even make up our minds . If we r just sitting and chatting they will come up and try to take our bowls away when there is still food left . wish they can be more mindful with that. Dashi Okume dates back to…read more1871 in Japan (it was originally established as a seafood wholesaler), but this shop in Greenpoint makes quality Japanese products, especially dashi, more accessible than ever. Dashi Okume sells ... you guessed it ... dashi. They sell several kinds, and you can taste all of them there in the shop before deciding which to take home with you (I tried them all and went home with one bag of vegetable dashi and one bag of sweet shellfish dashi). They also make custom-made dashi. You can choose from around 30 ingredients - dried fish, seaweed, mushrooms, and vegetables. They grind it up and put into individual bags for you. Such a fun idea, but I thought I should try some of their pre-made dashi options before creating mine own. They also sell miso, rice, noodles, rice seasoning, seaweed, tea, and other items. I picked up some Japanese mustard, seaweed, and rice seasoning to take home with my dashi. Beyond being a great shop, they also have a cafe area where they offer a teishoku set meal - you pick your fish, which comes with tea, rice, miso soup, pickles, and sides. They also offer an omakase popup. The shop is beautiful, and the service was very friendly and helpful. I'll certainly return for more shopping but next time I plan to make a meal of it and try their teishoku set.

Stopped in at Dashi Okume on a random Saturday afternoon and sat down with a spread of white rice,…read morebluefish, miso soup, squash, and mushroom. Simple and satisfying on the food front, for the 2 of us, the cost was about $110. So not a cheap meal, but good food. The vibe though was a little different from what I was expecting. I went in thinking restaurant and what I got was more of a market atmosphere. While you are eating, people are walking around shopping and browsing, and there are products displayed and sold throughout the space. Not exactly my ideal setting for a sit down meal, but it works well enough for a casual weekend afternoon stop. One of the highlights beyond the food were the soup broths and dried flake samples they had available to try at Dashi Okume. We worked our way through most of them and they were genuinely delicious. My wife liked them enough to buy one to use as a miso soup base at home, which says a lot. They also carry items for cats, which was a fun little surprise. As for the place itself, Dashi Okume is located on Norman Avenue and operates as a collective, meaning it is not one single business but rather a shared space where multiple different vendors and businesses come together under one roof. That explains the market within a restaurant feeling. Overall Dashi Okume is a worthwhile stop, especially if you enjoy exploring and sampling along the way. Just go in knowing it is more of a hybrid experience than a traditional sit down meal.
