I didn't visit this restaurant in person (I ordered through Uber Eats), so this review is based solely on the food quality, not the dine-in service or atmosphere. The fish quality was very low, the salmon in the salmon avocado roll was especially poor. Both the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls were drenched in an overpowering sauce with a strong, unpleasant aftertaste that completely overwhelmed the rolls and made them almost inedible. The eel roll was also extremely tough and saucy, with an odd texture and aftertaste. I genuinely hate leaving negative reviews, but this was the worst sushi I've ever had. read more

We live right near this place and everytime we walk by there are always people inside so we decided we finally had to try it. Honestly, it was good -- on par with all the other sushi places in a 3 block radius -- but nothing exceptional. Stumbled upon this place after leaving the Puerto Rican day parade. Came here with my daughter. It's a cozy cute little spot. Pretty intimate. They have a nice bar , waterfountain and an area where you can see them make the sushi. The server immediate attended to us as we walked in. There was no wait. Now to the food- this was some of the best miso soup I've ever had in my life. My daughter agreed and she's a picky eater! The salad was pretty good. It came with a dressing that was a ginger citrus dressing. I'm not sure why but it tasted like mango to me. The sushi was really good. Especially the eel avacado. We ended up ordering another roll. My girlfriend and I stopped in for the lunch special on a beautiful weekend. The front windows were open and showed off the cute interior of the restaurant. Downside of that though is that a lantern fly flew into my miso soup, because New York, but the server offered very kindly to replace it. So 10/10 service. The deal that we both got was $14.95 for 3 select basic rolls + salad or miso soup, which is an incredible deal and on price alone, makes most sushi worth it for me. We both got the Philadelphia and Yellowtail Jalapeño Rolls. The other 2 rolls we got were the Spicy Mango Shrimp and Salmon Avocado rolls. I've been here a little too much over the last year. My suggestions: (1) lunch special is solid. If you're hungry, get a three roll special + an extra role (2) take-out / delivery is consistent 9/10 times (3) quality is a solid 4/5. You're not getting Nobu-styled fatty tuna, but for a local, UES sushi joint, this should be your go-to. The rolls are very pretty too, they look super appetizing. 1 roll is definitely enough food for 1 person, so I'll probably just get 1 roll next time. I am a regular customer of this restaurant. Every time I order I spend good amounts of money with them because the food is decent. I called to place an order as I do multiple times a month. I placed my order and was asked if I would like to put a tip on my card. I told her no because I always do cash tip. This lady proceeded to tell me I was required to let her know if I was going to give the driver a tip. I told her that I always tip the driver when he comes and could she please fix my order and send it. She said the driver wanted to know if I was going to tip. Mind you I always tip him $5 when he comes. She told me that if I wasn't going to tell her then I could just go somewhere else and eat. and hung up the phone on me. I have never been spoken to like that in a restaurant. I waited a few minutes to calm down and called back to speak to the manager. Believe it or not, he said the same thing to me. Even after I explained how rude this lady was to me. He said " You no tip you eat somewhere else." I will never eat here again! They are the rudest waitstaff I have ever encountered. I had the Maki Lunch special and ordered the spicy tuna roll and yellowtail jalapeño. The spicy tuna was great and exactly what I was expecting while the yellowtail was refreshing, light, and barely spicy. The sushi was served with ginger and wasabi. The soy sauce is already on the table so you can choose how much you have. I do recommend asking for only half the ginger as the portion they give is quite large. They are so sweet! I had the best conversation with someone here about vaccines. And just so you know, they are vaccinated! And they were hardcore cleaning when I came in. I can only afford to do lunch specials these days and theirs is pretty comparable to the ones in the neighborhood. $10.50 for two rolls and a soup or salad. And compared to every other spot on UES, their miso soup is the best I've had! The wine is a bit pricy for lunch... $11 a glass but they did give me a very generous pour. Take out experience A nightmare experience. We have loved this restaurant so much but tonight we had a horrible experience with their takeout/delivery. We ordered through Uber One and did not leave a tip. They immediately called us after we submitted our order asking if we were going to tip them cash. We felt pressured with the phone call and told them to add a tip to the order total via the app, which they did. When the man from the restaurant dropped off our food, he asked us for a cash tip, and we told him they already called us and we put a tip online. He argued with us saying we did not tip and we told him regardless, he has to give us the food we paid for. He refused to hand us our order and called the restaurant asking if we actually tipped or not. They told him on the phone that we did tip, and then we handed us our food after confirming we tipped. Since when is tipping required?!!! This was completely inappropriate and I wish we could take back the tip due to this treatment. It's a shame because we went to this place at least once a week, but will never be back after this experience. Absolutely ridiculous. Do better. read more
