    Lychee Martini

Perfect at 6 pm on weekends before the dinner rush. Excellent service from Roman, who was attentive but not intrusive. The Early Bird Dinner Special is a great value at $17.95 and includes a cooked entree or sushi (including some special rolls) along with your choice of soup or salad as well as ice cream for dessert. Happy Hour drink specials are good on weekends ($6 for a lychee martini!). My toddler gobbled up the fried pork gyoza and I had to restrain myself from eating more than my share of crispy rice (not listed in the menu). The vegetable tempura was nice and airy but could have used more salt, while the miso soup was soothing and pleasantly filling. The specialty rolls were balanced, nuanced and altogether divine. The vanilla ice cream is premium quality. Looking forward to our next meal here!

Deserves clearly 5 starrs! This place has been consistently good in all our deliveries plus, recently we dined in taking advantage of the lunch specials. Fresh fish, amazing service (the lady is really nice) and clean place. We went with the stroller and although the place was fairy empty they were super accommodating Def recommend it!!!

Isohama is a great UES sushi spot. Every time I eat there, I find something new on the menu to love. From the miso soup to the different rolls they offer, everything is well done and carefully crafted by the sushi chefs. Depending on the time of day, the service might be a bit slow. The staff are very attentive, however, and the wait is worth it for the quality of sushi you get. I sat at the sushi bar last time I was there - talked with a woman who had been eating there for 30 years and told us she has never been disappointed. For appetizers, my favorites are the steamed Shumai, Veggie Spring Rolls, and Miso soup. The rolls which stand out to me are the rainbow roll, spicy triangle (so yummy), and volcano roll. They also do the classics very well (philadelphia and california) but I recommend being adventurous with the menu - it has always paid off for me! Overall, it is a chill, reliable sushi spot

Love this place. Such a cozy, happy, and comfortable atmosphere. Food is solid at a decent price. I see a lot of families eating here every time I come.

I went to Isohama a couple of times and although it's not my favorite sushi place it is good. Maybe I'm not ordering the best things they offer. I think I would rate it 3.5 stars. This time I ordered takeout. I tried the California roll which has tobiko balls (fish roe) and also tried the sweet potato tempura roll. The sweet potato used was white in color and I found it to be harder in texture and not as pleasant to eat as a result. The California roll was pretty standard. In my opinion there's better sushi in the neighborhood but Isohama is a fine choice if I'm in the area and don't want to travel further for sushi.

Poor service and food. Didn't bring edamame we ordered and "spider roll" is almost entirely avocado.

Chicken Bun (5/5): The chicken came out piping hot with a classic chicken katsu breading that was flakey and seasoned wonderfully. The soft buns with the creamy sauce was very very good! Lava Men (5/5): There was a lot of flavor and depth to the broth. The charsiu pork pieces were perfect, a great thickness with fat to meat ratio that gave it a juicy bite. Note the soft boiled egg was actually poached and not boiled whole Tan Tan Men (5/5) (award winning): The broth was very creamy and the noodles were perfection--chewy and thick. The chicken chunks were tender as well (Although I wish I had charsiu instead or ground pork in it). Ever so slight preference for the spicy tonkotsu ramen.

That's seriously the only food I am craving now. When we got there, the restaurant itself is very small, there are only no more than 10 tables fitting 2 persons inside and a few tables outdoors. There is a staircase with upstairs that is the Omakase (which is only open on Wednesday through Sat) and it is a pre-fixe menu. We stayed downstairs and ordered a la carte. First, I have to note that it ended up being a very busy evening. There was only 1 server who was managing about 6 tables plus a few take out orders. He was definitely swamped. It took us over 20 minutes to take our order as he was running around busy! We ordered several dishes to share for app: Shishito peppers, rock shrimp, and the edamame. Loved the shishito peppers which had an amazing sauce on top! And the rock shrimp was good too, but too much breading. For our mains, we ordered the seafood soup and the black cod to share and the shrimp tempura roll (only cooked sushi option!) The seafood soup was absolutely delicious! So flavorful. However the shrimps in there were so small, with the exception of 1 huge shrimp. Overall, we really had a good experience. I would definitely return to try more of the sushi as it looked so fresh. However definitely recommend they hire more servers to help out.

It's a cute little basement bar with some tables along with a bar top to sit and a cozy little area in the back to sit at if you're with a couple of friends wanting to celebrate something or just to hangout. You see to my surprise they told me they no longer serve sushi and that they changed the whole concept of the place and the menu. I was a little disappointed but I decided I was there already so I would work with what they had to offer. I saw they had a decent happy hour menu, but I decided to order a drink that was not on the Happy Hour menu. Their version of a Lychee Martini. It was strong and flavorful, but very refreshing. For my tapas options I went with some Arancini and Zucchini flowers. I didn't want too much to eat after having such a huge breakfast. The arancini was flavorless but really good with the marinara sauce it came with, and to my surprise the zucchini flowers were amazing. It was piping hot, crispy with the most intense cheese pull, served with some spicy sauce and marinara as well. I went back and forth with dipping them into each condiment. I told the guy who took my order and served me that they should bottle that marinara, it was delicious. I don't know how this place use to be but I'm interested in returning for another visit because I was definitely feeling the whole vibe of the place along with the food. I think it might be a good place to visit for the whole Happy Hour of it all. Thumbs up and Happy Yelping!
