    Salmon Avocado & Matcha Latte
    Min T.

My husband and I love this place. Found out about this place when I was pregnant, so finally went as one of my first places to get sushi and it was amazing. They had a half off all sushi after 3pm deal then, which is not discontinued. We still go though cause their food is so fresh and delicious from the sushi to the prepared food to the drinks. Like my husband describes it, the food is so authentic and flavorful!

The space was fairly open. Service (5/5): It was not very busy during the lunch hours so we were serviced quickly and often. Food: There was a couple of seasonal specials posted on the wall. Chicken Bun (5/5): The chicken came out piping hot with a classic chicken katsu breading that was flakey and seasoned wonderfully. The soft buns with the creamy sauce was very very good! Lava Men (5/5): There was a lot of flavor and depth to the broth. The charsiu pork pieces were perfect, a great thickness with fat to meat ratio that gave it a juicy bite. Note the soft boiled egg was actually poached and not boiled whole Tan Tan Men (5/5) (award winning): The broth was very creamy and the noodles were perfection--chewy and thick. The chicken chunks were tender as well (Although I wish I had charsiu instead or ground pork in it). Ever so slight preference for the spicy tonkotsu ramen.

They have a nice garden area in the back where me and my friends sat and it's heated and a perfect spot where you can have birthday parties and other big gatherings. The Karaage Chicken was so crispy and a perfect way to start the night. It's such a classic appetizer, and they do it just wonderfully. Here is all the sushi we shared: Lobster Salad Roll - Shrimp Tempura Roll with lobster salad Godzilla Roll - Deep fried Eel and Shrimp Tempura 161 Roll - California Roll with Salmon Spicy Tuna Roll I loved all the rolls, but I think my favorite was the Godzilla roll. It's a cute little basement bar with some tables along with a bar top to sit and a cozy little area in the back to sit at if you're with a couple of friends wanting to celebrate something or just to hangout. You see to my surprise they told me they no longer serve sushi and that they changed the whole concept of the place and the menu. I was a little disappointed but I decided I was there already so I would work with what they had to offer. I saw they had a decent happy hour menu, but I decided to order a drink that was not on the Happy Hour menu. Their version of a Lychee Martini. It was strong and flavorful, but very refreshing. For my tapas options I went with some Arancini and Zucchini flowers. I didn't want too much to eat after having such a huge breakfast. The arancini was flavorless but really good with the marinara sauce it came with, and to my surprise the zucchini flowers were amazing. It was piping hot, crispy with the most intense cheese pull, served with some spicy sauce and marinara as well. I went back and forth with dipping them into each condiment. I told the guy who took my order and served me that they should bottle that marinara, it was delicious. I don't know how this place use to be but I'm interested in returning for another visit because I was definitely feeling the whole vibe of the place along with the food. I think it might be a good place to visit for the whole Happy Hour of it all. Thumbs up and Happy Yelping!

The classic wood decor, ambient lighting, and gentle music they played all helped foster a calm and relaxing atmosphere, which was perfect for our end-of-a-long-day meal. They offer lunch/12 courses/$49 and dinner/14 courses/$65 which is excellent value for amount of courses. Unfortunately, the sushi fell quite flat. The fish overall tasted quite bland and not fresh. The rice was fine and appropriately seasoned but I just didn't really enjoy the fish. They offer typical findings like amberjack, striped jack, madai, toro, scallop. The ikura was nice and tasty. The chefs were quite considerate towards the amount of rice and wasabi you prefer. The service is quite efficient with not much waiting between courses. Overall I really wanted to like Shihou omakase but just didn't have that great dining experiences food-wise. I think it's a great value for the omakase you get but with other options a bit more in price nearby and around NYC, I think it would be hard to justify repeat visits but hope these were just off-experiences as I do really appreciate the enthusiasm and service!
