Best hibachi restaurant I've ever been to. Food always comes out great. For what it is, it does it well.

Went here tonight with some friends for a birthday dinner. The place was its usual busy loud self. We got seated right on time, and didn't have to wait on anything. I got the Hibachi Shrimp. It was delicious as always. Five of the six dinners were delicious. The Calamari was a little bit too tough. Luckily the birthday boy didn't get the birthday gong treatment! It was my first visit to Kobe's and they did not disappoint. Service and Food were both very good to excellent. Our chef , Alex was entertaining and handled the food with professionalism. I ordered a medium steak and that is what I got...many other places either give me medium rare or medium well. So it was a nice surprise to have it cooked just right . The amount of food was great . Went here for our daughters birthday most recently, but have been here quite a few times over the years. Depending on who your 'chef' is, I would say it can easily rank as a three star place, but the guy we had this time was a blast, and cooked our meal very well at the same time. I would say kids really like it, as the place was packed when we arrived, and 90% of the tables had kids. Basically you sit around a large cooktop, place your order (steak, chicken, shrimp, etc.) and your meal is prepared in front of you, with the chef cracking some jokes (usually the same stuff, but our guy went off script a bit so it was fun) flipping things in the air and performing little tricks as he goes. You end up with an Americanized Asian dish of meat, veggies and steamed or fried rice. Our meal this time was very good, the steak cooked well and very tender. The shrimp tends to get a bit over cooked, but they do save some to try and flip from the grill to your mouth. Overall, it is a decent meal, with a bit of entertainment to boot. I went here for Father's Day with the family & we had an excellent dinner together. The service was on-point from the start; we never had to ask for refills, (they had a girl assigned specifically to that task like many higher-end restaurants do)...appetizers were served promptly & hot. Our dinner was cooked in front of us right after appetizers were finished. (No delays) The decor was dimmed & casual, you had a very comfortable feeling dining at this place that is hard to duplicate. Our Chef prepared our food using fresh ingredients & it was well-done & flavorful. The portion sizes were excellent for the price we paid... and the show the chef put on during our meal was funny & entertaining as well. I had the steak & lobster with wan-tan soup, a salad & (as an added bonus) they fed me shrimp! I learned I had a talent for catching shrimp in my mouth when someone tosses it my way while I was at it! LOVE THIS PLACE! My daughter and I have celiacs , Kobe staff did an excellent job keeping our food safe and taking care of us. All of our food was made first then he continued with the rest of the table's food. We were trilled that we have another restaurant to keep in mind. We had to wait 10 minutes beyond our reserved time, so I will start with what happened during the wait. We had full view of the bar and bartenders as we stood near the hostesses. The two bartenders displayed some of the most unsanitary practices we have ever seen. They touched everything in sight, from dirty glasses to cell phones, their hair and masks, without once washing their hands. The most egregious offense was when one of them picked up several dirty glasses from a serving tray by inserting her fingers inside the glasses. She then immediately grabbed a clean glass, poured a mixed drink and sat the filled glass down with her fingers near the brim (where the customers lips would soon be) without washing her hands. Any potential viruses or bacteria from several people were distributed throughout the bar via bottles and directly to a customer via the glass, just in that one instance. After being seated, we ordered an appetizer and our main courses. No drinks, not even water, after what we witnessed at the bar. Our chef was mildly entertaining and the food was just ok. Shrimp was good, steak was so-so and the chicken was dry. Vegetables were fresh but somewhat undercooked. The show put on by the chef seemed quite contrived and less than genuine. I can see were doing the same thing for each table night after night could reduce the level of excitement in your performance. Overall, the food was not on par with the price. The small entertainment value of watching our food being prepared was not enough to offset the negatives of the dining experience. Note to management: The effectiveness of wearing a mask is greatly reduced when you have two super spreaders behind the bar. read more

The first time we went here it was awesome. We got in on a pretty short wait and everything was perfect. NOT the second time. It technically wasn't even a second time because we Left. Hostess was asking for our reservation instead of greeting us first, I told her we didn't have one, we didn't have one the first time we came either- she said she would have to have us wait until a reservation didn't show up before we could be seated because they were basically "reservations only" now. NOWHERE on the website does it say this nor is there a sign, or anything. I looked online before we left and it says "walk in's welcome" obviously not. Definitely not the friendliest customer service based way to present that to us EVEN IF they actually were enforcing reservations only. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Kobe has been delivering the same thing for years with quality food and service. You know what you get when you go to Kobe. You know you're going to be paying more than your average run of the mill place, but the food is always good and I feel like it's worth it. Service was awful on our visit. Never got one refill of our drink. Then tried using a American Express that was a brand new card. Not only did the Kobe took money from that but also our visa to our checking account. Told by kobe to wait 3 business days and call back. After waiting 5 days three of which are business days. Hands down the best food I've had at a hibachi. The salad, appetizers and my meal were so good! I even finished my entire rice, steak, chicken and veggies because it was so good. Went there on Friday night with an 8 PM reservation. Waited just long enough to get a drink at the bar and then we were seated. Very impressive presentation and comfortable seating. We came here for my boyfriends 18th birthday and our homecoming dinner. We made reservations for 6pm and we came in at 5:50pm and they had us wait but it wasn't for very long. The server was very nice and didn't make us feel rushed when he got our drink order and our dinner order. He was refilling our glasses all night which was amazing. The cook was hilarious, very kind, and made the food taste amazing! By the time the cook was done we had already pretty much finished all of her food which we thought was awesome because we had some sort of entertainment as we were eating. Overall the dinner took way less time than we thought it was going to which also was awesome! The only thing I would say is that they did not do anything for the birthday other than just hand us the cheesecake but for anyone else who had birthdays they had brought out a birthday sign and something that they were banging on, which was the main reason why we had picked the place for his birthday dinner because we heard about them banging on something and bringing out a sign but they did not do that for us. My wife and I had dinner here with my brother and his wife early evening yesterday. The food was excellent. My wife had the tuna and thought it was a generous portion and tasted fantastic. I had the scallops and shrimp. I felt they were a little stingy on the scallops portion (4 sea scallops), but they provided a generous portion of shrimp. My food was delicious. I even ate the broccoli (which I've always felt was a "vile weed"), because of the spices they put on it and the way they prepared it. My brother has a shell fish allergy, so they accommodated him by preparing some of the seafood last. He had the steak and salmon, and his wife had the steak and shrimp. Both commented on how good their meals were. We had a 5 pm reservation, and were seated right on time. It was getting busy even there early on , even for a week day, so I recommend you arrive earlier rather than later, as the place was packed by the time we finished at 6:30 pm. We were lucky to have been seated with a very nice middle-aged couple and their two well behaved boys, which made for an enjoyable evening. Service was excellent! Our cook was very entertaining. About the only negative take away I have is that I felt their wine and whiskey pricing was a bit on the high side. read more

What really bothered me was there was an used lemon half on the ground when one staff members noticed and said to me "oh gross lemon on the floor not my job to pick it up". I enjoyed an Awesome Birthday Dinner here recently! The food, made before your own eyes, is top quality. Not only is the meat and seafood fresh, but the fried rice is delectable. Our chef was extremely witty while also mixing in several jokes and tricks I had not seen at similar hibachi grills. Servers are very conscious of food allergies and will prepare food accordingly (i.e. Shellfish, gluten free, etc). I'd recommend going here when you have a big dinner party/group. Kobe has been our favorite restaurant for the past few years. It is our go to for birthdays and when we have friends or family in town. We have been reluctant to get out much in lieu of the pandemic. Tonight we decided to get out and I am so glad we did. Service, food and entertainment were great as always. More importantly my family felt totally safe. At my most recent experience here, I sat on the sushi side. They don't have as big of a sushi sushi selection as some other places in Omaha but it is still pretty good. The Hawaiian and Mexican roll are very tasty. We also ordered the rainbow roll and was disappointed with this. They only had salmon, avocado and a very small piece of shrimp on the top of the roll. Typically I also see tuna and whitefish, but that was not present. If you are on the sushi side you cannot order anything from the grill. You can get some appetizers, but otherwise your only other options are going to be sushi. As far as on the grill side, it is always a fun experience whether you are with adults only or have the kids join. Keep in mind it will probably be difficult to get out of the Grill side without spending at least $100. I think there are newer location is very nice. read more
