I came here renting a deluxe cabin. It was $229.18 ($164.18 plus $15 per free and $50 pet deposit). The app does not add a pet fee even if you say that you have a pet. -blinds do not work, there's literally no privacy because you could see right through the very thin curtains when you're outside -chair is broken in cabin -bedding on 1 bed, but pillow cases on all pillows. make sure you bring sleeping bag -you can drive around back property/land if your bored -dog park is ok, nothing special, bench covered in bird poop. -no freezer, no ice at resort, even for sale read more

Definitely off the beaten path but worth your time. Check in was easy, had reservations. Nice store with anything you'd need. Along with a store is a facility on site with a washing machine and a dryer. Campground is dog friendly. If you're lucky enough to get a gated dog run in your camp, even better. On our way back to our home in Wyoming and booked this rustic desert campground on the outskirts of Barstow (and its sketchy vibe). We booked a heavily shaded spot (space 30) with a really nice paved patio (nice new picnic table, grill, fire pit with benches) that was completely fenced for pets. That alone warranted a positive review! This is the first time we've seen patio areas completely enclosed with a chain link fence and it's a great idea! So many people travel with dogs and the enclosure allows you to sit outside with your pet and enjoy the shade and breezes. It also gave us a place to put our dog while we set up/broke down camp. It also has a separate dog park of about a quarter acre, plus lots of trails/roads into the desert for dog walking. Well stocked camp store, clean laundry, restaurants and ghost town nearby. Site was spot-on level side-to-side. A good place to stop between LA and Las Vegas. read more

We arrived 29 minutes before check in time at 2:00. Nearly the exact same time as 1 year ago. Never before, but this time charges $20 extra. We were having trouble with rv electrical, so waiting wasn't an option. Also, no cable, as advertised. read more

This is one of our stops for a night when traveling to AZ. It's not a large KOA, and there is gravel for the sites. The hosts are nice and even though there is gravel, instead of cement, it's clean. We have brought our dog with us and the dog run is a nice size and clean as well. read more

I used the dumping station snd ut was disgusting. It cost $25.00 and you get to walk in sewage and mud at the dump site. In all my years of using KOA this is the worst. They need at least clean it and remove the use sewage. Large gravel would help. But to spend 25.00 to dump a 10 galling tank was unacceptable. I had to bag my shoes and wait till I got home to clean them. I wouldn't go to this place if you paid me. read more

Pulled in after 9pm and the security guy could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Signed me in, accepted payment, and guided me to the spot of my choice. Level gravel site, good water pressure. One star off because at $65 it was more than I expected to pay for a basic site in this remote location, with so few nearby services. Getting there: It was really easy to access the entrance of this KOA. It's right off the freeway. When you check in you go right up to the front office. Experience: I was really excited to camp here because they had the pool and archery. Its Barstow so I didn't expect there to be much to look forward too. We actually only ended up staying for one night instead of two because it was so hot outside. The facilities were alright. They could have been cleaner, but they did the job. read more

When I first called in to reserve a cabin I expressed it was just for 1night, 2 adults 1 dog. I'm ok with added cost for dog. I was glad to see that they had a gated dog run. (Checked in 3pm Check out 6am) for 1night seemed excessive in cost. Yes, there was a bathroom but still expensive. The maintenance person toured me around the cabin and pointed out that they all had (since I asked) carbon monoxide in each room and I stated I don't see one, he looked at all outlet and said I don't either(not concerned about it) and he continued to show me how to work the t.v 2 hrs go by and I walked to office and asked for one and he said he doesn't know where they keep them. He is the maintenance guy....Hmmm, I thought. Soon after he came by and said oh I found one! If it hadn't been for me going up to the office requesting one he would've never come by to make sure we had one. Very concerning. The office staff very friendly but noise level of dirt bike ridding and so close to where I was standing also concerning. Every other KOA we stopped at was less than $100 vs. $224 and we stayed at 3 other ones on our trip. read more

We used this park as a one night rest stop during a long trip. I would not stay more than one night here or in Barstow/Yermo for that matter! There are so many complaints on the staff of this place that it is unbelievable. They are so rude, as soon as you come into the office the attitude starts. No customer service etiquette. They even yelled at each other as they are checking you in. I was talking to one of the managers and she started to answer her walkie talkie and arguing with a co worker. This was our destination for the weekend. We stayed in a cabin there this past weekend and it was wonderful! The cabin was clean, the grounds were one of the nicest KOAs we've seen. I've seen many reviews on the staff being rude, but that was definitely not our experience! Everyone we spoke to was so nice! Amanda, Penny and Amber were all very helpful had very nice! Our refrigerator was not working and they got a replacement within 10 minutes! We rented DVDs to watch at night, played in the game room and swam in the pool, everything was great! I didn't get the maintenance mens names, but they were also very sweet, they drove around periodically asked how we were and if we were having fun. We will definitely have to do this again! So relaxing and fun for the kids! read more

Nice site, but letting patrons tool around on atvs and motorcycles throughout the site, regardless of other paying visitors and their safety/peace and quiet is not cool. It says "we don't value you as customers". My neighbour is sitting outside smoking her weed pipe right now, hiding from her kids.......Won't stay again, don't recommend at all. read more

(Options are few in this area) Maybe it was the intense heat first time around (although I would think they'd be used to it) but second time around the fellow was pleasant and helpful. We have stayed here twice and enjoyed our stay both times. First off, it's Barstow, it's a stop on the interstate, it's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Lol! The amenities are more than adequate, and the store is nice and clean and has most items in stock. I can't speak for the pool, but the archery was fun, the kids love the jump pad, the bathrooms are very nice and clean. The sites are ample sized with lots of trees, fire pits, and picnic tables. The only reason I'm knocking a star is that there are places they could improve, and the staff could stand to be a little more polite. But overall it's a nice place to stay and I would totally stay there again. read more

The check-in was a breeze. The RV spots are long and wide with hedges separating them. Each RV space has its own brick fire pit and a picnic table. The staff were friendly. The pool was big. The game room was well maintained and air conditioned. The children's play structures were nice and the on-site store was very convenient. We did not try the air jumper,basketball courts, banana bikes or archery. Although they all look really fun. This KOA is a nice retreat from traveling all day and I would recommend it to others. read more

We were coming home from Dumont Dunes after spending 10 days playing in the sand, early Thursday morning pouring down rain through Baker and Yermo we checked the Highway condition, low and behold the Cajon pass was closed due to snow. We pulled in to the KOA knowing we weren't getting home. Still early...before they opened pouring down rain we were greeted by Anthony, What a great person he was! We have a very large RV with a very large trailer. He took me inside to meet with Amanda, what a great person she was! She found a perfect large site for us to pull in. Anthony escorted us in with his golf cart, settled us in and we were good! The next morning they filled us up with propane and off we went. We got home safe and sound. The best experience I've had at any RV park! Thanks Calico KOA!!! We will be back! read more

This place is extremely well maintained by a very hard working crew. We were thoroughly impressed with its cleanliness and layout. A truly beautiful RV park. Truly horrible KOA. The rear bathrooms are disgusting with broken doors and showers turned off. The manager cked us in and didn't even give us the bathroom or wifi codes. The bushes that USED to provide some privacy have been butchered. Avoid this place if at all possible. read more

Would not stay here again in the summer. Might be a great place for the rest of the year, but not if you are relying on a/c. Thank goodness we were planning on only spending one night. Pulled into our spot and plugged into the power. I have a voltage meter and it was reading really low, in the red! The park was a little over half-full. I walked around to a handful of empty sites with my voltage meter and all sites I checked were in the red. It was late and we decided to just stay the night and deal with it, but it was 89° at 8:00 PM and with the low voltage, we couldn't safely run our a/c!! I was talking with another couple who asked me if I had power at my site. I told them it was weak and not enough to run a/c. They said it was similar at their site as well. They were going to take a chance and run their a/c anyway, but had their truck hooked up and ready to go. If the lack of power gave them any trouble, they'd leave and drive through the night until they reached their next destination. They also said they complained to the staff about it and were told that someone would be coming next week to check it out, but after looking at previous reviews, this appears to be an issue that's been on-going for at least a year!!! The grounds were kept clean and there was a decent-sized space to let the dogs run and potty. So that's where the two stars come in. I will never again stay at this campground in the summer. read more

Ended up in Barstow because we could not drive any further, the KOA was the only one with vacancy. Got a spot at the very back. It is on I-15 and pretty loud. But the sites are big pull through and very level with gravel. Full hookups including cable. Nothing much too see because it is in the desert. The city of Barstow is 10 short miles away and you can get just about anything you want there. Nothing great, and with the exception of the noise, I give it a 3.5 - 4. read more

This place isn't what KOA is suppose to be ! It's supposed to be a friendly environment but it's not. When we had a projector playing a movie at 8pm when the volume was low they complained. Quite time is at 10pm and they told us to turn it off. We voiced our that the fact the quite time is at 10pm and they still argued to turn it down. When other neighbors was playing music loud around us and we said " other campsites are playing music loud, are you going to go over and tell them something as well ?" They said No because they haven't had a complaint from them yet. I have been to other KOA's before and I had never had the staff act so rude ever before! I'm never coming back here again.Reminder we reserved 2 cabins 2 campsites and a RV spot, I wish we got the same treatment like others on the site but we didn't. We had came here at least 4 times a year and they lost our business. Hopefully this would help anyone that comes here and gives them there business. One more thing they claim to say " we don't allow off-road vehicles onsite , well that's a lie. I'll provide pictures after this post that says otherwise. read more

Just returned from our mini camping getaway with my daughter and grandaughter . First of all i want to start by saying that i am an avid hiker/backpacker but i chose KOA because i wanted my Toddler grandbaby to have her first camping experience. The campsite was clean and the people at the store were friendly. We settled in for the night in one of the "Deluxe tent sites" after enjoying a nice campfire . Around 4am , my daughter and i both were awakened by footsteps and someone coughing right outside our tent . We made some noise and the footsteps stopped. Half an hour later we heard someone walking behind the wall where we had our tent . Needless to say we were spooked after that and we chose to sleep in our car for safety purposes. I contacted the KOA campground number twice and left message to see if they could send someone to look around the campsite . We waited til the sun came out and began packing out. I have yet to have anyone contact me regarding my two messages. I have stayed in many KOA's including Estes Park and a few in Utah and have never felt unsafe . read more

We stopped at this KOA on the way home from Zion. It was just a quick stop for one night to sleep. Check-in was easy and the employee even escorted us to our spot. It was a last minute reservation so we felt lucky to have a spot ( electric and water). We were parked next to a big propane tank which would have driven me crazy if we stayed longer. I did not use pool or clubhouse but the store looked pretty good. There is traffic noise from the freeway which does not bother me but could be challenging for light sleepers. The reason for the two stars is the bathroom and shower facilities. The showers were so dirty and the drains were filled with an assortment of hair. The sinks also looked like they needed a good scrubbing/ sanitizing. There was no way that I would use either. It was definitely the worst I've experienced at a KOA. If you just want a place to sleep for a night and don't need the facilities, it's fine. read more

3-Stars for the location, 4-stars for the staff!! We decided to experience the "teepee" at the Barstow KOA. I don't recommended it in the summer months, nor should you try if you're any kind of light sleeper. Amenities aren't bad for a desert local. But the best part was the staff! We only booked one night and used it as a break up for our 914 mile total journey. To avoid stumbling over each other, (3 people and 2 dogs,) we hung our battery powered lantern from the rope in the center of the teepee. In the morning, drained from lack of sleep, it managed to escape our final sweep before heading out. We noticed after we arrived in our final destination... which was 555 miles away and three days later. Knowing that too much time had passed, and with little to no cell phone service in our new area, we wrote it off. HOWEVER, while passing through Barstow again on our way home, something inside told me to give them a ring. I did, and they had it! So thanks, Barstow KOA, for being an honest group of people. You gave us a great story, and helped make our trip really special! read more

I've stayed here a couple of times in the past three months, both times have been good. The park is mainly used as an over-night stop for RVer's on their way to or from someplace else. It's also near a lot of open BLM land so a few people (me included!) stay here and go ride in the surronding desert. Note: They don't allow OHV vehicles to be ridden or used in the campground, they must remain in a truck or on a trailer, which is fine as there is no way to legally ride an OHV from the campground to the riding areas anyways. I am deducting one star as my most recent trip to this campground I ended-up in a site near the front of the campground (which is also near the trash containers) and had to deal with Fly's due to at-capactiy trash containers. Will be beack, but next time will request a site further from the front of the park. read more

Clean facilities, kind, helpful staff, lots of activities! This campground has absolutely EVERYTHING you could hope for! My kids and I wanted a weekend getaway and this place was the best! We chose to "rough it" in a tent and KOA had everything we needed to make our stay entertaining while being "away" from home. They have and archery range onsite which was AMAZING because we love archery! They also have a game room, movies if you want and have a tv, a playground for all ages, tetherball, basketball and in the summer a swimming pool. They have tent sites, RV sites, cabins and even safari tents and tepees! If you want a site with water and electricity...no problem and the mini mart on site even has most of what you need if you forgot anything! You can't go wrong here! Even the bathrooms are well stalked, comfortable and above all....CLEAN!! Perfect hidden little jewel! read more
