Well kept RV site, and great customer service! We have stopped here a couple times when we need an overnight stay before getting back on the road to AZ or UT. The family owned campsite has been our overnight stays a couple time and each time they have been super kind and helpful! Each time we have stayed here, the host has been super friendly, helped us to our campsite, quiet, and understanding since we were coming in a bit late. Its not high end, which is fine. This is a bare bones stop over in the middle of nowhere. The camp host is very nice and the spots are $50 a night. There are quite a few permanent residents scattered about. All in all it's a decent stop over on your way to your destination. Don't expect much and you will be fine. We called ahead and got the green light for a pull through space with full hookups. When we get there, he tells us go ahead and park then come check in. Very friendly management and they help you park. We unexpectedly ended up staying a second night and sure enough there was room, but we had to move just a few sites down since a group of 3 were coming in and had requested to be next to each other. That tells me this staff are wanting to make the best experience for everyone. My impressions about the actual park: all gravel with no grass, (bonus is generally very level sites.) They have a coin opp laundry room with a slop sink and puzzles, magazines, books, and games you can borrow. The bathrooms are dated but clean and well stocked. The showers have old rust stains, but again appeared clean. They have what I coined as "The State's Smallest Museum" which they've called a "Time Machine" since it's an old phone booth filled with "ancient artifacts" mostly electronics from pre cell phone and pre DVD days lol. It's hilarious. The park is off away from a busy road, so it's pretty quiet and undisturbed. 5 min drive into Barstow proper where there's bigger stores if you need them. The people staying there all seemed friendly and the park is pet friendly. It appears the owners and managers live on premise and there are about 3 mobile homes parked there with fenced yards and storage sheds. There are additional sites situated along the fence line, probably W/E only but would do for the night. I didn't see any dumping station, so please don't expect a ton of extras here. We stopped over for a night since we had a late start picking up our RV rental. I was an hour out from Barstow and did not want to keep driving in the high wind advisory. I called up Sandy Lane to check for availability and Don got all my information over the phone. He waited for our arrival at 8:30 pm. He showed us to the site then I went to pay. It was that quick and easy. Check-in took less than 5 mins. At the price point for full hookup, it beats the KOA further up. We didn't need all the amenities or used the facility. Kind of like a David Lynch movie set, but nice helpful hosts and a convenient overnight hook-up on our way from LA to Lake Mead with our 26-foot trailer. I looked at the other options and this one didn't have the noise of the car and train traffic. Convenient location, not far from all the wonderful places to see in Barstow. We got a pull-through and it was perfect. My wife locked us out of the trailer, but the manager there was quick to send for a locksmith. That was the only hiccup and it was operator error. If you are passing through and need to stop for the night, make a reservation here. Very quiet and peaceful. read more

Another wonderful overnight stay at Shady Lane. We came in at midnight and Jim escorted us to our spot in his golf cart. Hard working man he is! We did use the showers and although they are older...they are clean. Lots of hot water ....who can ask for more at $38 a night. Bathrooms clean and well maintained. One very important item worth mentioning is that Shady Lane IS Barstow's ONLY RV Park without railroad or freeway noise The hand drawn map is more then handy when it comes to finding the least congested route back home or to your next destination. I had a great four nights at Shady Lane. It was the inaugural outing in my new class C rig and there was a big learning curve for me on how to use everything. When I got there, Robert, one of the third generation proprietors of this family run business, helped me hook everything up and loaned me a TV cable to connect the cable that is offered at the park. Later, his brother Daniel helped me with a refrigerator problem. I learned a lot from him about my rig that I didn't know. He also programmed my new TV. Their dad, Don, graciously answered my myriad questions throughout my stay. I felt safe and cozy at Shady Lane and appreciated that it was out of the way and not near the highway. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean. If I ever have work in Barstow again I will definitely stay at Shady Lane. read more

The picture that you see is of the laundry room. It is very clean as are the bathrooms. However, one of the showers in the women's needed a curtain replacement as it was quite moldy and the drain in the shower was extremely clogged. We had a wonderful campsite, very secluded, however, at the same time in the open. Hard to explain but we felt like we were in our own little oasis. Brothers Robert and Daniel are running the family business which has been in operation for 41 years. They were very polite and helpful. The grounds were quite dusty but our pad was graveled and level. We only stayed one night but didn't even have to unhook. The weather couldn't have been more perfect and for Barstow, that's saying something! read more

My wife and I stayed for one night at the camp as we traveled. We had just upgraded to a Grand Design Reflections 5th wheel and where relearning our setup and breakdown technique. During the breakdown I forgot to remove our PROGRESSIVE INDUSTRIES EMS-PT50X Portable RV Surge Protector (50 A) at the electric post. This item is worth $312 and is an essential item to us. I called and spoke with Daniel concerning mailing it to our next location in California. I offered to pay shipping costs and pay for his time. Was greeted by owner and son who helped us get into our spot. They did say they are doing more to fix the place up. It's an older park nothing paint and landscaping won't fix. This was the first stop on our week long RV trip. It was really just a layover type deal. We showed up around 8:30PM and left around 9AM the next day. We weren't expecting a lot in amenities or scenery since it is in the middle of the desert and were there just for the night. What we did get was excellent customer service and a nice clean site. We pulled up and waited for less than 1 minute before someone came out and greeted us. Extremely nice. He knew who we were as we had made reservations. There was 2 RVs in our group. He told us just follow me to your spots, lets get you hooked up and then you can come back to the office to take care of payment. An older gentleman came out and told us the same thing. Both were extremely nice. They hopped in their golf cart and took us to the sites. When making the reservation we told them we were new to RVing. At the sites, both gentlemen were extremely helpful in getting us hooked up, electric, water and sewer. They both gave us some good tips on hooking up that we used at other sites we were at afterwards. Taking care of the payment was easy too. The site itself was very clean and well maintained. Definitely a 5 star experience when taking into account the location and what we were actually there for. We are going to be getting into RVing and any trips we make that pass through that part of California, we will be staying there as a layover. read more

Arrived after dark in our 42' 5th wheel, manager greeted us and escorted us to our site, a real blessing when it is your first visit, it is dark, you have a huge rig and it makes for easy parking when your tired after a long day. Site was clean, hook-ups clean, 50 amp breaker was new, 2 options to connect to sewer and water at the site, so you have options! It was large, plenty of room for the pop-outs. This place is old but obviously well-maintained, large cement pads (new) and far enough from the freeway to have quiet, and the huge signed is turned off at night so the park is dark and not lit up like a football field. Quiet, easy to find, well maintained, friendly staff...we will be back. read more

Beautiful location. My family is on an all girls trip to see the country. This was one of the stops. The staff was wonderful. The bathroom/shower area isn't the best but I have sure seen worse. Bring shower shoes and you're fine. It is a very large bathroom with 2 toilets, 2 sinks and 2 showers. I would definitely stay here again. It is Good Sam approved and I can see why. Great price too. My heart does go out to Bill's family. If they read this they will understand. I'm not sure if you folks are religious but you're in my prayers for sure. read more

This review is a year past due. The people at Shady Lane are flat awesome!! Helpful, kind and understanding just doesn't say enough!!! We stopped at a gas station Memorial Day weekend 2021 heading toward Montana when right at the pump our truck brake vacuum boost failed without warning. Being Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, no shops were able to get us in for a look, much less for needed repairs. The folks at Shady Lane created a trailer site for us even though they were full. They helped me plan a route from the Truck stop accounting for limited brakes, worked with us on our unknown day-by-day departure schedule until we were able to finally get repairs and leave on Wednesday. Great easy in/out location and these wonderful people deserve your business!!! read more

I can't say enough good things about the owners of this place. We broke down, and ended up in Barstow with our kids and dog. The came to GET US, and towed our trailer to their RV campground at no charge. Angels do walk the earth. Got us all set up and safe while my truck gets fixed. Full hookups, level pull through sites. If you're bicycling Route 66 this is a great option in Barstow. They allow tents and the owners were really nice. Great WiFi and nice hot showers. Laundry was cheap, only $2.25 total to wash and dry. They have a TV in the office and the owner let us hang out in there and watch a basketball game while we ordered pizza and had a few beers. It's best to grab food before arriving here. None of the pizza chains deliver here even though it's less than 5 miles away. Route 66 Pizza delivers but they're crazy expensive. They have cold sodas for 50 cents in the office which was nice. Cost a little high ($35) for tents but no complaints and would stay here again. They only have full hookups. No dedicated tent sites. Quiet still. read more

Do stay here if you like being packed in like sardines. I walked into the women's bathroom and turned around and left. It hasn't been upgraded since they opened. Rust and falling out tiles. I will say that it was warm. The guy in the incredibly loud diesel truck parked 20 feet from our rig started it up and left it warm up at 5:50am. Thankfully we left shortly after that and I will never have to go there again. The 5 star reviewers must have never experienced a good RV camp. read more

The bathrooms are very clean and the camp spots are fairly easy to get into with a large rv. I am definitely coming back. If you're looking for a quiet overnight stay with clean facilities and wonderful people you can't go wrong with Shady lane. As soon as we pulled in, Don greeted us with a friendly hello and then took us to our site and explained the hook up process to us first time RVers. Great place to stay short or long term. My wife and I stayed here for 3 months. Its an older park but super clean and very well maintained. Gives it a cool vintage feel. Owners and staff are super friendly and accommodating. We have 2 large dogs and there were a couple places within walking distance we were able to let them play. Residents and guests are very friendly. Everyone mostly keeps to themselves making for a quiet park. This will be our go-to any time we're in the area. read more
