Whenever we go to Vegas or Laughlin, we always make a pit stop here for snacks, a quick bite, or simply a restroom break. Plus, it is located on the historic Route 66, which is a plus. Parking can get a bit hectic on busy weekends such as holidays, or if a festival is happening, so you might come across traffic in the lot. The station has some fast food chains such as McDonald's, Panda Express, and Subway. Prices are a bit higher for meals because this place is iconic, so beware. There are other places to buy snacks like cotton candy, beef jerky, boba, and licorice. There are also a lot of marts that sell different types of souvenirs, so if you forgot some on your way home, you can find some cool and unique merch. This stop is always a MUST when heading to or coming back from Vegas. Mostly because we need to pee by the time we reach this destination. I greatly enjoyed the new Wetzel pretzel they put in (not sure how long that has been there). They offer a good variety of food options for those who visit. They also have small trinket/gift shops. I do not find the prices to be that cheap for gifts but it's a nice place to walk around. I visited Jed's beef jerky store this time when heading home. read more

If you are traveling to Las Vegas from SoCal, the Barstow Station is a fun little stop. Nothing fancy at all, but it's a decent place to stop for food. McDonald's, Subway and an Asian place themed to aliens??? Our draw into this place was the old train cars that have been converted into the McDonald's dining area! So cool! There are little shops throughout the station as well that have unique souvenirs. Bathrooms are not the cleanest. We skipped them and drove another 9 miles to Eddie's World for our bathroom break. Everyone knows this place. The halfway point to or from Las Vegas. Whether you are driving or busing it on one of the shuttle buses, it's always a stop off point. Myself, we tend to stop for a restroom break and a quick snack. The place itself is somewhat a tourist trap as it is there off the freeway. They have two restroom I believe, one upstairs and another sets in the back. Maybe there's another set just off where McDonald's is, maybe. Inside has a few quick fast food places with McDonald's being the main place. You have subway, Wetzels, a Chinese place which sometimes they're open and another fast food spot across from them. Besides the food stall, it's houses small shops. Basically trinkets and stuff. a candy store and a liquor store. It's a place where you walk through and browse the stuff on the shelves. Candy store is cash only btw. Outside has a few other places for food but if you're wanting something quick, this place maybe it. A stop that's worth just checking out. Not much things you would want to purchase as it's a bunch of trinkets and random stuff. read more

Barstow Station is a destination station. They have a chocolate station, subway, mini marts, vendors, McDonald's, Chinese, boba, and more. I was traveling and stopped in for a quick 40 minute stop. Very popular stop for bathroom breaks. Many tour buses, shuttles, and guests traveling to and from Vegas and LA often stop at this station. Service at the McDonald's here is phenomenal. I ended getting a kids meal and for under $6, everything included, it's the cheapest place you can grab that won't put you in a food coma. Depending on what you order, of course. Open since 1975 this is a well-known stop on the famous former Route 66 about halfway in between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. It's also the only location that I've ever seen a McDonald's inside of a train car so it is very unique in that alone. There is a large free parking lot attached and inside the building along with McDonald's are many different vendors serving many different things from food, drinks, desserts, and merchandise. It can get quite busy on the inside, but I would say the McDonald's is definitely the most popular stop. There is also many other fast food and gas options around so it's a solid option when driving to or from both cities. read more

A favorite of mine to stop by here because of the ability to walk around and stroll while needing to go use the restrooms. I brought my friends here on a Sunday early evening and it was their first time stopping here. It wasn't overly crowded and had just enough people to not feel cramped inside. This spot is right next to Popeyes as well, and the McDonalds area inside has plenty of tables to seat at. The McDonalds area used to be just a rustic old train feel so seeing it refreshed and with families and kids using it makes the 'station' feel more lively. There's some on-the-go souvenirs that tourists can buy if they happen to need something from one of the many vendors. The Thrifty's ice cream was pretty yummy, although we found it to be on the pricier side for just a scoop so beware! Upon entering, you can smell the strong scents of Subway. Only thing to look out for is that when we went back to our cars, we looked over and saw what looked to be a homeless person exiting out of the metal container on the corner of the parking lot. We got worried seeing the guy walking out towards an oblivious lady packing her babies in the car with her driver door left wide open. Please be cautious everyone!!! UPDATE 1/10/26: Barstow Station, it has been a long time! We stopped by here during our road trip to Disneyland from Vegas. This will be the start of an upcoming huge review string that I will be leaving. Normally we fly to California, but we drove this trip for one particular reason - my LTP got a new car in November and he wanted to take it out on a road trip. Well, it's new to him, but much newer and better than his old car. This car was used at my future in-laws' beach house up in Lincoln City, OR, but after realizing that they don't drive it all that much (they drive up there from Vegas in their pickup truck anyway because they bring their two dogs with them), they decided to give it to him. I think the last time I was here was when my mom and I were on a road trip to Solvang to attend her friend's anniversary party back in 2017, and it really hasn't changed one bit. It was a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't packed at all. This is always a great place to sit down and take a break before hitting the road again (it takes about two hours to get here from where we live). We stopped at Subway, and I actually received a $20 Subway gift card recently from my choir as a thank you for participating in a solo part, which I didn't even think about bringing with me. Both of us got something that wasn't too big, but big enough to eat before continuing our trip, as we didn't have plans to make more stops before reaching our hotel. Their restrooms are a little outdated, however. Both toilets and sinks are manual and not automatic. The flush valves on the toilets are so short that I had to bend over as someone standing at 5'5", not to mention it was a little tight exiting the stall I was in. And they don't have mirrors above the sinks for some odd reason? This is a thing I never understood. This will continue to be my main stop anytime I drive to California. I would not recommend this location unless you have lots of time on your side. It is the place to stop, so it's always crowded. My husband and I pulled up to the McDonald's Drive-Thru, waited approximately 10 min and never moved. I just don't think it's worth the wait, when you have McDonald several exits away. Plus it's fast food. There was nothing fast during the 10 minute stand still, while I was there. Lastly, this was not the first time I have stopped at this location. I am OBSESSED with this rest stop. They have so many random restaurants, drink options, and shopping. As someone driving from a city, this place feels very different. They have a boba spot, Alien Food aka the "best Asian food in town," sandwiches, and so much more. There's also a general store for candy and various knick knacks. I was in love with all the shopping areas. If you're in need of a small gift, this is the place! From candy, to figurines, shoes, bags, and more...Barstow Station has a bit of everything. Have been stopping at Barstow Station every summer for most of my life. I have never been treated the way I was today by the man selling the swap meet type stuff across from the Pretzels. I purchased sunglasses from him 6 days ago on our way to the beach for my son. They broke. I showed him and he pretended not to remember selling them to us even though he recognized me when I walked in. Refused to replace them. Then when I decided against buying them again saying they are just going to break again left his station. Old balding man. They were $12. I wasn't expecting amazing quality but didn't expect him to be so rude. Lesson learned but he is not a good business man and it's sad considering how many people love this place (me included). read more

A total tourist trap. In November I took a bus tour with my mother to Las Vegas. The bus had a rest stop at Barstow Station for about 40mins. With that given time we were able to eat, shop, or use the restroom. This is my first and second time here and the place from the outside has a lot of charm. But the inside is a different story. It felt like an expensive swap meet with random novelty items. The food options were scarce with McDonalds and Subway being the main options. The bathroom situation seems a bit sketch. Not properly maintained. I am a short person and their ceiling is pretty low and uneven. During my drives to Las Vegas taking a pit stop in the area where the outlets are is a better option for a break, but I suppose since we're in a bus, the selection for parking that type of vehicle is poor. Older black guy that's in charge of locking the doors is a real tool. Extremely bad attitude. He was trying to kick everyone out 3 mins before closing time. I asked him if he was having a bad day and he literally tried to fight me. I took him as a joke. But he kept trying his best to get in my face. They opened at 8am sharp and there was already quite a crowd. This spot is nice to walk in, make some last minute shops, and use the restrooms at before heading back out on the road. This has always been a go-to spot and never really left a bad impression on us. I always enjoy the train aesthetic dining interior due to its unique design. Barstow Station has been the go-to midway stop when heading to Vegas but this year might be the last time. Arrived around 10:30am on a Tuesday afternoon post Christmas and it was absolutely PACKED. Almost every eatery had a line with McDonald's with the longest line. The tour buses stop by this station as well so it gets very busy. Tried out the quesadilla from Kona Tea & Grill. They ended up losing our ticket which led to a longer wait time. The beef was extremely salty and disappointing. The restrooms were quite dirty this time around, some of the seating was blocked off, and the tables were sticky. read more

A decent place to stop for drinks, snacks and bathrooms between our Los Angeles to Las Vegas commute. They have several restaurants like subway, McDonald's panda express and several others. They also have a liquor store and several stores where you can purchase tons of souvenirs like backpacks, hats, ponchos, refrigerator magnets, tote bags and T-shirts. If you're feeling lucky there are also Lotto tickets for sale. They have no AC running. So all throughout the Barstow station is pretty humid indoors. It's not the fanciest/cleanest pitstop location. This has got to be the biggest shit show I've ever seen for the busiest McDonald's I've ever seen. This here feels like a Mcdeath trap. Who closes the 2nd drive thru during a lunch rush? You got cars coming out, cars going in, cars trying to cut in line, cars trying to go in the one way out outbound. This place is a nuthouse. Skip this exit and just wait an exit in both directions. I haven't stopped by at Barstow Station for 8 years. I was totally looking forward to Dunkin Donuts and Panda Express at this stop. Unfortunately, both restaurants closed down and got replaced by Alien boba and Alien Chinese fast food. Not sure about how I feel about getting boba from an alien, especially since I live in the boba capitol of the world. Now all that's left for food is McDonalds, Subway, and Wetzel's Pretzels. There's no point in coming here other than to use the restrooms. The upkeep has really gone downhill. The entrance by Subway reeks so bad that I have to hold my breath whenever I'm in that area. My family and I had a pleasant experience making a pitstop here. I haven't been here since I was a kid. But now we came back with my own kid. There's many things to see and explore in this tiny little caboose. And there are many food and snack selections. We were able to grab McDonald's, Panda Express, and thriftys ice cream all in one stop. Cons include it being very stuffy; ventilation is poor. Another con being people here can be quite rude. Lots of shoving by some people when it gets crowded. Not sure why they felt the need to shove but I do think it's the clientele. However overall we still enjoyed the pitstop. read more

1/29/20 I came here thanks to a friends' recommendation. It is definitely an interesting place to check out if you have some down time. Also, If you've never been to a McDonald's inside of a train station, or a train station that is painted in McDonalds colors. It was unique to see and check out all the various shops they have Inside. I tried out the Baja taco restaurant inside and it was delicious. I would see my friends checking in at "Barstow Station" and I wondered what it was... It turned out to be a former train station and currently, it is a great place to stop on the drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. At the back of the building, there seems to be a Greyhound Bus stop. Inside, there are several businesses such as Panda Express, Wetzel's Pretzels, Thrifty Ice Cream, McDonald's, and Subway. There are also vendors selling shoes, jewelry, and touristy souvenir things. It was pointed out to me that the dining area looks like the seating inside of a train. It's cool! You can also sit on the bench next to Ronald McDonald and take a selfie with him! Haha! The past 2 visits here since last summer were always good. Facilities were generally clean enough to use without complaint. No weirdos panhandling while in our break from the road. Liquor store has a pretty good variety of everything for snacks and drinks. The gift shop usually has something tempting in the collectibles section I have to resist splurging on.
