Ask the Community - Pine Tree RV Park

I see in the description of this campground is says it's close to "Holcomb Valley and off-roading", do they allow side by sides in this campground and are you able to ride right out of it to these off-road areas?

We allow one RV and two cars per site. Unless your vehicles are street legal, you are not able to ride right out of Pine Tree as it is a couple of miles on Highway 38 to Van Dusen Rd, which leads to Holcomb Valley.

    What is your monthly/yearly rate?

Our rates vary according to season and length of stay. Please see our website www.pinetreervpark.com for rates and information, including contact info. Texting is always good.

I have a 41 ft 5 th wheel. Would you be able to accommodate it?

Yes, we can accommodate you. Please see our website www.pinetreervpark.com, Click Book Now, and you will see a list of site descriptions, including length of RV allowed in each site.

Review 63/365 day challenge…read more Updating my review, 2nd time staying at this campground. We enjoyed it a lot 2 years/2 summers ago and returning 08.13-15.25 for another family summer camping trip. We're at Campground # 28 Campground # 27 is accommodating for disabilities. Which was right across from our campground # 28. #27 had majority all pavement in the campsite. Around the picnic table along they have their own water spout for water use. Also located closest to the restroom/showers, has a pavement road leading up to it for easy access. REMINDER there is no washing dishes sink available on these campgrounds nor can you use the restroom sinks to wash anything. There is a sign that it isn't allowed. So make sure to bring your own water! This time around downfall is the electrical plugs in both of the restrooms, weren't working the 2 nights stay we were there. I asked the associates that were driving around daily regards to the power. They told me it's a hit or miss. Sometimes the power isn't working and there's nothing that can be done to fix it. The downfall. Love the Serrano campground since it's not far from the actual Big Bear village. Still definitely recommend it. Really clean & everyone is respecting each other especially at night.

Campsite was very nice, clean & very well kept. Campsite host on site. Our campsite was a double site, #32/33, and was wonderfully beautiful. Restrooms & showers located nearby, plenty of shade spots for tent setup. Numerous hiking trails available, short walk to lake for fishing, (purchase fishing license before you arrive) bike riding, and boat rentals are also offered, but kind of expensive. Must reserve sites, 6 months ahead. We'll definitely come back, maybe annually.

HVR is a hosted camp…read moresite on the north side of Big Bear Lake, so you'll drive a few miles on a bumpy forest road into the campsite. It was a former boys camp and the spacing between sites are either very big or quite compact (see attached map). We stayed in the B loop this time around and it was a mixed bag. Had some rowdy neighbors playing music one night until 1am and though it is technically quiet hrs after 10pm, we didn't exactly get a good nights sleep (pack those earplugs). Thankfully the second night was better but be aware- this is a flat pasture so sound will carry everywhere. The camp host Cowboy Ed was friendly and offers firewood for purchase for $10 a bundle. The toilets were often backed up and/or out of toilet paper- so that was unpleasant. Due to HVR's popularity on Hipcamp- it's really become overrun and lost a bit of its luster as it was formerly a great low key camp spot. If you're intent on booking- I would recommend booking during the week and also the further out remote sites which provide a more peaceful experience.

This land, this Forrest, this campsite is magic. Literal magic. I get away and come up here solo maybe twice a year, then bring the babies at least twice as well so they can experience the same magic. I'm Under the stars, the wind is blowing something fierce. Im Sleeping in the back of my lead sled K5 and I'm just feeling beyond blessed to have a safe place to experience this. Holcomb valley ranch is so dear to my heart. Theres something that words cannot describe about this place, so my suggestion is just come experience it for yourself. Nature is as close to God (whichever form that is for you) as you can get. You can hear the gospel in the trees when the wind blows. You can see the miracle of creation in everything around you. And you can get so close to your inner most self in the silence of the night.

Growing up we couldn't afford summer…read moretrips so my dad would make an effort to get us out of the city for a weekend or two every summer. I've continued this tradition with my own kids and this campground is a mainstay in our rotation. In those 30 years not much has changed (and that's a good thing), except maybe a bit more noise from the road. That's expected though with more and more people moving into the area. Nothing beats the tranquility and peace you feel just sitting enjoying a meal together, playing cards, making s'mores, or telling stories by the fire. Facilities are always clean. Showers have warm water and the park host do an excellent job of keeping them clean. The toilets are also always clean, and flush toilets make it so any unpleasant smells do not linger. Plenty of firewood is available if you're running low or forgot to pack any. Make sure you have cash though. The camp host will come by and offer or you can swing by and pick it up. A few cons: the water spout next to our site was not working so we had a not so long trek to retrieve water. The fire pit at our site wasn't in the best of locations. I would've preferred it tucked in more, but it was located right next to the driveway, and finally the drainage system in the showers could be upgraded. It's not pleasant wadding in remains of the person that showered before you even in shower shoes.
