Very peaceful and relaxing area of the mountains…read more First time visitors as we are here with a group of 18 family and friends. It is a well kept area, clean and quiet dispute all the critters walking around our tent last night including two hollowing ??? About fifty feet away. This is nature after all. Not a big deal to some but for someone that has not camped in over 30 years, I was wide awake most of the night and now, I need a short nap to recharge. Fully recharged after my nap and I am ready to enjoy the this outing once again. We visited this camp ground with a group of eighteen in all and we had a BLAST! We had camp sites 5, 6, 7 and 8. We all had 6-person tents yet had enough room for twenty-tents as our areas combined were HUGE! We played games, bonfires, ate together, used cots, went hiking, visited a public playground less than one mile away and used a zip line, played volleyball and had a picturesque view of Lake Arrowhead. There is also a hospital w/ emergency services directly in front of our camp ground entrance if such services were ever needed. I can definitely see us returning in the near future but for now, the memories we created will stay with us forever.

Hello, the campground was full this weekend. On Thurs I got…read morea wild hair and checked for reservations and coincidentally I got one night only at the best site #19. Incidentally, when we arrived to check-in, we were greated by a delightful Dennis! He was a wealth of knowledge. He rakes each site before the next person comes. Aside from making it clean for the next person...he picks up all tiny trash and food bits we toss around and dont make it into the fire pit. He cleans all of this up which prevents "visitors" while were sleeping. Yes, visitors. Were in nature but it belongs to squirrels, mice, snakes, bears, coyotes and mountain lions. So we took note and did a full look for any bits we left behind so Dennis could just rake and not worry about out food and trash. He's a great guy and youll hear his cart going around checking on things. He is actually security, housekeeping, front desk, greeter, janitor, grounds keeper, friendly neighbor, game warden for the little camp ground, so be respectful bc he lives where he works. If you hate the thought of snakes and bears, stay some place like a city KOA. This area is lush with trees and full of dry brush...(snakes like the brush!) Also bugs werent an issue whatso ever!....we sprayed ourselves with OFF and were fine. Kept tent zipped up in case of critters. We did not see any snakes or bears. Upon departure we saw a coyote in the morning near the entrance doing his own thing. Upon arrival check in with the Delightful Dennis, your camp host. Follow his directions to a T and youll be fine. I keep a bear bell, air horn and utility knife for protection in my tent. No swimming or showers at camp ground... Swim at Lake Gregory!!!- Arrowhead is a no swim lake.

They also have many spots designated as "first come first serve" which is nice as that means you have a good chance of just showing up on the fly and getting a spot if needed. In all I was certainly pleased, and we will most certainly be returning. :)

This was a beautiful campground just 10-15 minutes from the Lake and about the same amount of time…read morefrom town. Many of the camp sites were very large which was great for groups. One downside is the last 2 miles getting into the campground is unpaved and was a bit rough with a camper but we made it. We'd definitely camp here again

There was a large table and a fire pit perfect for all our camp set up. The fue pit had missing parts that works have been helpful, see picture for example. Regardless, we made due. They encouraged you buy wood at site but each packet is $10 and each buy you been through at least 2-3 packets. At that point, bring your own wood. Bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. Nice trails and walks. Rules: no speakers and loud noises after 10pm. No music unless from phone. Neighbors were still loud lol I'd definitely return (:

We are staying here for a month + while we are house hunting in the area. This RV park is so close…read moreto everything! There are only about 20 spaces, and more than half are full time rvers and mobile homers. We are able to walk to the lake, the East marina is right across the street. Within a few minutes drive is all Big Bear has to offer...the slopes, Village, restaurants, and right now...Oktoberfest at the convention center! New owners have been doing a lot of work since they bought it in June 2017. The park is very clean and well cared for by the on-site managers. It has a laundry room, and bathrooms. One shower stall only, but again, it's not crowded here. Each space is paved and relatively level. Sites are spacious, most have trees, and each has a firepit and picnic table. The park is very quiet! There is some road noise from the main street in front, but it's not bad. Lots of blue jays, bunnies, and squirrels for your entertainment! They have daily, weekly, and monthly rates. All sites are full hookups. Cable T.V. is great, and the Wi-Fi has been strong and reliable. We love the privacy, proximity to the bike path and lake, and being able to get to the Village and market in 5 minutes. Very nice, comfortable, safe little RV park.

Spent 2 nights/ 3 days here on a weekend (Friday-Sunday) in early July with a party of 4. We were…read moresurprised to be able to book a site online less than a week before. When our party arrived at the campsite, the host gave us the option of choosing a different campsite as they said our original site (#11) wasn't great. We camped at spot #74 and it was very spacious with plenty of shade in the afternoon (the mornings were quite hot). There were two dumpster sites a short walk away, and a parking space large enough for our 2 cars (crossover/ hatchback). The potable water pump was also closely accessible across the road. There are no flush toilets at Heart Bar, only vault toilets. However, staff kept the toilet area pretty clean and stocked with toilet paper. Each site has a firepit, picnic table, and bear box. The hosts sell firewood as well. This campground is also dog friendly, and our dogs had a great time. Compared to other campgrounds I've been to, Heart Bar is a lot bigger and feels more secluded and peaceful as there is plenty of space between campsites. I loved it here! Already thinking about when I can make my next trip back.

The camp grounds have a lot of room in between parties so you do not feel so close to each other. The only drawback I found first is the entrance sign is really small and in no time you can miss it. I want to say I missed it the first time because I was hoping to see a bigger sign. Otherwise the campgrounds volunteers were very kind and helpful. Lots of pine trees with so much to explore. I fell in love with this camp site and I highly recommend to take your own trash back home. I found many of the dumpsters the next day full. I do not think it is to much to ask. It was a perfect weekend with a full-moon and it does get a bit chilly at night with thin air. It was really refreshing to get out of the city and relax under so many trees. Our experience was our neighbors were peaceful and kind. if you forget firewood they do sell some on site. extra small car parking fee per night $7.

Great place to climb when it's too hot for Jtree and everywhere else down below. U can't go wrong…read morewith cool crisp air up in the mountains with gorgeous 360 degree views of mountain greenery. It was almost 20degrees cooler up here. I needed a sweater for the day especially while climbing in the shade. There is a good mix of trad,sport and bouldering. This place is known for its sport routes but trying to navigate the mt project app to find routes I ran across tons of trad routes. Left the trad gear at home n was bummed I did. The approach to climbs was super easy 10-15 minutes hiking through well marked and nicely groomed trail. I look forward to carrying both my trad and sport gear up here for a fun filled day of climbing. I love short approaches and there are numerous grades to keep every type of climber happy.

I didn't check to see if there's a fee to stay at this site. But in another comment, someone mentioned $115 a night for the group site. There seems to be a parking driveway area for the cars. Then a line of big rocks to separate the parking from the actual campground. There were four tables, three bear boxes, and a vaulted toilet covered by 4 wooden walls. The areas to pitch a tent are decent but some areas would have to be on a slight slope. Or you can get your truck between a couple of the rocks and put your roof top tent up too. You can walk off in many directions to explore. There is a trail from this site leaving down somewhere but we didn't check it out.

Having stayed at group sites before, I didn't think this would be any different. We had 4 different groups off off-roaders come and try to intimidate us off the campground. One had the audacity to park and attempt to "share" the site with us. There is a yellow post site down the road and dispersed camping in the area but all were booked. One group started howling and making noises to scare us off at 11pm. Ranger was informed on two different occasions and put the groups on warning. Avoid unless you're an off-roader or like loud, drunk, rowdy neighbors.
