3-Stars for the location, 4-stars for the staff!! We decided to experience the "teepee" at the Barstow KOA. I don't recommended it in the summer months, nor should you try if you're any kind of light sleeper. Amenities aren't bad for a desert local. But the best part was the staff! We only booked one night and used it as a break up for our 914 mile total journey. To avoid stumbling over each other, (3 people and 2 dogs,) we hung our battery powered lantern from the rope in the center of the teepee. In the morning, drained from lack of sleep, it managed to escape our final sweep before heading out. We noticed after we arrived in our final destination... which was 555 miles away and three days later. Knowing that too much time had passed, and with little to no cell phone service in our new area, we wrote it off. HOWEVER, while passing through Barstow again on our way home, something inside told me to give them a ring. I did, and they had it! So thanks, Barstow KOA, for being an honest group of people. You gave us a great story, and helped make our trip really special! read more

This place was ok. My buddy who has stayed at KOAS before said it was a little barren. The campground was very windy. It was hard to get the stakes in the ground but we got enough in. They had showers and flushing toilets. It was 35 a night for a tent site. I would probably try to not stay here again because you so close to the highway but if you brought ear plugs you would be fine. read more

I've stayed here a couple of times in the past three months, both times have been good. The park is mainly used as an over-night stop for RVer's on their way to or from someplace else. It's also near a lot of open BLM land so a few people (me included!) stay here and go ride in the surronding desert. Note: They don't allow OHV vehicles to be ridden or used in the campground, they must remain in a truck or on a trailer, which is fine as there is no way to legally ride an OHV from the campground to the riding areas anyways. I am deducting one star as my most recent trip to this campground I ended-up in a site near the front of the campground (which is also near the trash containers) and had to deal with Fly's due to at-capactiy trash containers. Will be beack, but next time will request a site further from the front of the park. read more

We arrived at the KOA and set up our unit only to discover that the cable work wonderfully for every channel except For Fox news! The sound for Fox was on a different channel, so we complained to the office and they said that they already called the cable company, but nobody came out. So we found our own solution. We turned the tv in the bedroom to the channel that had the Fox audio and turned the living room to the Fox video! This needs to be investigated. I don't know who to blame, KOA or the cable supplier. Right now I blame both. read more

Great and fun KOA along the highway. Lots of empty sites when we went, and got to choose the best location. Some of the covers for the picnic tables starting to fall down. There is a tee-pee or two there to stay in. Mainly was there for the night and left early in the morning, but a walk around provided a sense of lots of stuff for kids to do including a real train sitting out front and some rock climbing structure and swings and stuff, and I think there's an entertainment room. Showers and restrooms clean. Friendly staff. Everything about this experience was positive and I would stay here again without hesitation. read more

The campground definetely met our needs. With 4 kids there were fun activities. The playground was nice and clean and the jumping pillow is always a hit. The game room was fun but dated is an understatement. The felt on the pool table was torn off on half the table and balls were missing. The ping pong table was in real good shaoe, but the paddles not so much. The Foosball was in working order. The check in process was easy and pleasant. The staff was very friendly. The general store was limited I supplies and goodies compared to other KOA properties. It was BARE necessities. The bathrooms were nice and clean. Our site was a pull through with partial hookups. Not much space between sites but the space was enough. Overall a great camp experience. read more

Very disappointed as a KOA. The man greeted us was very nice. He informed us that the check in woman be back in 15. She showed up, saw 2 people needing space and told us needed 5 more minutes. She went back out for 5. Spaces were fine, in shaded areas. Restrooms needed attention. read more

Friendly staff, awesome location for offloading, clean restrooms and campsites. Definitely worth the extra five dollars for the shaded spots. Great Wi-Fi for the spots near the office. Some freeway noise from the 15. Bounce pad is super dirty from all the sand and dust blowing around, but you are in the desert, what do you expect? General store was pretty well stocked even though they were about to go through a remodel. Staff was pretty friendly. Stayed here in March, so I have no idea what the pool is like. read more

Minutes later boom picnic table delivered. We also went to buy a cable adapter no need you can borrow one. Played ping pong in the game room. Great stay!! read more

I give 1 star to credit the place. My family loved it. Unfortunately, 2 of their employees named KERI and AMANDA are the RUDEST and UNPROFESSIONAL. I gave all my patience to this place from the confirmation of our reservation up to the last day of our stay. I waited for 3 weeks just to get that confirmation through email. AMANDA insisted that there's no reservation under my name even they charged it already on my credit card. So how come there's no reservation? So I give way coz she said the email address was mispelled even I spelled it to her more than 5 times. So, I spelled it to her again more than 5 times and she said she sent it again. So I waited for almost an hour as a time frame that I will be able to receive the confirmation and still nothiNg has been sent. I called up again and she said with disrespect "How many times I will send it?" I told her, that confirmation email served as a receipt that a reservation was made. So I just asked for the confirmation number even though I'm not settled on that because I didn't get my email. 4 days before our trip, I tried my luck if I could get a response if I'll email them. Then they responded with my confirmation. Another incident happened was with KERI. I purchased a flash light but unfortunately it was defective. The batteries inside were melted and the coils were rusted. So I ask if I can return it coz the flash light is broken. Then she answered me NO in an ungrateful way. I was like, what am I going to do with the flash light if it's broken and why I can't return it? She sound mad when she said " I can't do anything about that coz its a no refund no exchange policy". Then she told me to clean it like giving an order to a servant. I got so pissed with that kind of treatment. So I asked her if I can speak to the manager. She arrogantly told me that she is the manager. Is in it as a "manager", you should know how to deal with your clients. She should have talked to me in a nice way or explain it to me properly whatever policy they have, not just like that. Instead of apologizing or resolve the issue in a diplomatic way, she ignored me and just accommodated the person behind me. I will go back to KOA but not in this location because of bad experience with the employees. The owner should train his/her employees good ethical behavior especially in regards to guest services. read more

I got a tent spot and was invited by a hideous hollowed gazebo where I could not even fit my 4 person tent. Sand is just everywhere and impossible to put the stakes. Amenities look old and worn. Worst KOA I've been to so far and one of the most expensive. Only good thing is the open area in the back where your pet could run around. I would pass on from this spot if you can. read more

A friend and I are traveling across country this week and we took a longer detour through California (originally leaving from Reno to Delaware) but we stopped at this lovely KOA in calico/Barstow California. It was so nice. We arrived around midnight or later. The establishment owners were super accommodating and were very very helpful. They didn't make a fuss or Leah did stranded. This place does not deserve the Koa stamp of approval and should be investigated by corporate. The staff was very rude and condescending. Not one smile or can I help you so familiar to us in other koa locations. I agree with the other review that the staff seemed like zombies. I felt so very unwelcome there and the place was very filthy. One employee Amanda Grubb should be fired as well as the other older gray woman who work the desk service area. No customer service skills and all they care about is the money or maybe they just dont care about anything. read more

Totally agree with all the others- The employees in the office are horrible. The first time there the pool was grimy. We reserved cabin#1 and it had a stove but 1 tiny saucepan and not enough silverware for 2people. Very cute cabin but you can tell it really isn't cleaned properly. Was supposed to get 2 k-cups only for the whole weekend but we didn't get any. The guy that goes over the list with you said he would get me 2. Never did and the office said I have to buy them. We had other cabins reserved too with missing toilet paper and other items. You really need to ask directly what is included in your cabin because each cabin is different. 1 has a stove, 2 allow dogs, THey all have a fridge, toaster, Microwave. Linens is only a fitted sheet. We just went this last weekend in cabin #2 and the handle missing on the bathroom door, Light bulbs burnt out and the lights that work are very dim. I looked in cabin 1 with the stove and no pans at all. So just an FYI bring all your electric skillets and whatever you need. They won't even give you a roll of towel paper and no kitchen towels. I know they didn't clean the coffee pot in cabin #2 cus the used k-cup was still in there. I know they mop the floor and change the towels and sheets but don't fix anything. Was told AC in cabin 1 was broken. Don't know if thats true. You are also relying on the previous guest to wash the dishes right for the next guest. The cabin is the cutest ever and has enough of what you need for camping (microwave, toaster, coffeepot, fridge) but so sad they can't clean it right and fix the easy broken things such like the light bulbs and a simple handle on the bathroom door so you can get out. They did give more nice seating outside but some of the chairs arm rests are broken and just needs a screw in them. We will still go again cuz its close and a fun weekend but wich they would read these yelps and make their simple changes. read more

I was very impressed with the service of the employee. They got my reservation wrong and he was attempting to fix it. The manager came in and the looks she gave me was disgusting. I just ignored her. The employee, I wish I had gotten his name, was so nice. how he could work with that is totally unlike a pair working together and they are not a couple. This morning I could not find the dog park. Instead of letting my dogs poo anywhere I went to ask. I poked my head in and said excuse me where is the dog park? She turned to me very rudely and said I'm on the phone. Now I understand how that sounds not bad right. Well it was the way she said it. Not only that but a customer on your property paying good money doesn't get talked to like that. She could have said please wait just a moment I will be right with you. My advise there is several private Rv parks near by. Skip this one. read more

This campground is not being maintained, For starters there are two evaporator coolers on site one the the game room the other for the club room both are filthy! The one for the game room is almost completely rotted out and filled with algae. The aspen pads look like they have never been changed. The Club room has a newer Cooler but it isn't being maintained, the bottom is rotting out and it's filled with green algae. Now the pool, the water looks clean but the bottom of the pool is dirty with green algae... I would not swim in it. the pool table in the game room has a torn green making the table unusable. All three problems are health issues! read more

This is my 3rd time here in 3 yrs and prob my last. I'll look elsewhere and bypass this place until they spend some of my money on upgrades. read more

Nice gravel sites with some shade. We were supposedly going to stay down the street at another campground that looked pretty rough on arrival.. Thankfully the KOA was close by and we went here instead. Decent dog park and plenty of room for walking a dog otherwise. Great mountain view's, laundry and little store! read more

I have stayed at many KOA's and other RV parks in the last couple of years, I have even stayed in this particular location last year, but this time was not so good. We booked a night as a stop over for our return trip from Las Vegas and reserved a pull thru 50/30 amp service spot. As I pulled in at night I went to plug in my 50 amp socket and it would not fit, there was no light at the box so I kept trying. I eventually went and got a flash light and saw that it was a 30 amp spot. No problem, we just made sure that we monitored what we turned on so that we wouldn't flip a circuit. Here is where my disappointment really starts. The next morning as we are leaving I went to the front desk to tell them we are checking out and also mentioned that we reserved a 30/50 spot and only got a 30 amp spot. The girl working the counter told me, "Yeah you got a 30 amp only spot"...well yeah isn't that what I just said. So I told her, well we reserved a 50 amp spot and she replies, "there is no difference". I tell her, yeah there is, we actually had to cut back on some of our electrical items. She them tells me there is no difference in the price. I checked today and there is a 3 dollar difference. Please trust me, the 3 dollars is not a problem at all, it was just the way things were handled. We reserved online and have the evidence but yet they made everything seem like it was not a big deal that they screwed up. Next time I might pass on this place and if this is a sign of how all KOA's are now being ran, we might pass on the whole organization. read more

We did a short trip to KOA Barstow. We were met by a friendly attendant at the late check in. We were in the full hook up section. We didn't get any trees... no shade. The next morning we went exploring and found pool, jump pad & kids play area. The restroom and showers are very clean. We had a slight set back with our trailer and the they allowed us a later check out time. They were very understanding and even made suggestions to fix the issue. We will definitely stay hear again. read more

This place is clean, safe and kept up well. The staff is very friendly and ready to help . We stayed in a kabin and it was cleaner than most hotel rooms I've been in. The pool I'd clean and nice and there's a little playground and free horseshoes. The showers are hot and all seemed to work. Barstow may not be a dream vacation but it's worth a day or two so you can go to calico ghost town and the little museums in Barstow. read more

During the night our tow vehicle was broken into, they broke the back window which does not have a car alarm on it only the 4 doors do. 2009 Ford Edge They took everything inside including our motorhome keys. Spent 3 nights here for memorial day weekend and was a little disappointed in this KOA. Incredibly unorganized, was supposed to have a pancake breakfast on Saturday and they flaked, was supposed to have a movie night saturday night and they flaked again, finally had the pancake breakfast Sunday and it was horrible. The pancakes tasted like chlorine, the coffee was cold and thats all there was!! No butter, no orange juice it was a joke, everyone squeezed down a couple pancakes and left. Staff does not control all the idiots speeding through the campsites all day on their atvs, I had to go have a talk with someones parent about it, another lady yelled at the dad for going 25mph through camp and almost hitting her kid. Every single toilet leaked from the bottom so you had to stand in toilet water while you sat, get an extra star for Roberto and the girls who work there who did their best to make our stay bearable but we will not be back. read more

This review is for the laundry room. DO NOT WASTE UR MONEY!! PAIGE informed me that even tho i went into the office and bought $2 dryer sheets that only had 2 inside ( like a sample box) and i also got $5 quarters.I GET NO REFUND NOR A NUMBER TO GET MY MONEY BACK. Now To wash its $2 and to supposedly "dry" it is $1. So I used dryer #5 and i put in my $1 and 34 mins later my clothes were damp so i put 50 cents and 10mins more. Now i check and my clothes are still wet so i change to the next dryer over to the right ( that one had an out of order sign on the top one) so i put in my $1 and the high heat was SUPER HOT, so i turned it down to medium heat and had to wait 27 mins.. So I realized that not only the Paige female was rude but the place stunk like dirty water. So i opened up a washer with sitting dirty water and every other dryer was out of order...at least refund the money that was taken with the dryer key or put up a sign that reads: "WASH AND DRY AT YOUR OWN RISK, AND NO REFUNDS" Instead of charge $1 for 1 dryer sheet and then smile while you tell me that i put MY MONEY in YOUR BROKEN dryer and it is what it is. read more

This was our first visit here. We really enjoyed our stay, so much we decided to stay an extra day, we hated to leave this place. The cabin was very nice and clean, I got to enjoy the porch swing! We forgot to bring hand and bath towels, (next time we'll be prepared) The staff was very friendly and helpful, we really appreciate all that they did for us. It was also nice that there was a shuttle to Calico. The driver was friendly and helpful as well. The only thing was the gravel, it was hard to use my walker on it. It was a nice campground but it didn't provide enough activities for our son. The WiFi did not work other than by the front. The utility hook ups were far away. The fresh water value was 4 inches out of the ground and made it difficult to plug in. The sewer value cap was to far away and made it hard to dump. read more

With so many campgrounds in these go- through towns looking quite white trashy, this one in Yermo is great. We stayed in a nice wide pull through. Each site has oleanders separating you from the site next door and offers some privacy. We have a 40 foot motorhome and we fit well in our site. Great big dog area, although not fenced, but watch for snakes in the summertime. Nice pool area and friendly staff. We ended up staying here another nite. Nice place in the desert! read more

Was 7 hours into my 12 hour drive and the thought of getting into the KOA and having to set up my tent was not very appealing to me-- all I wanted to do was go to bed! I decided to upgrade from a tent site to one of the cabins even though it's just me on this road trip. So glad I did!!!The deluxe cabins are awesome. Seriously. So much better than a hotel room (and for sure a tent site if you don't feel like the hassle)... Your porch faces out to the desert and at night with the windows open, you can hear all sorts of nightlife and I don't mean the people version. The inside of the cabin is super spacious (and clean), I could have easily fit myself and 4 friends, no problem! I slept like a baby... I had my own shower and toilet, I had clean blankets... Didn't have to sleep in my sleeping bag uncomfortably rearranging myself on my sleeping pad all night... It's totally worth the extra money. I'm a backpacker and love me some sweet tent time but if you really just want to chill and guarantee sleep before you continue on your journey... book a cabin. read more

Five stars because it met our needs. We needed a place for one night on the final leg of our month long road trip. This place is clean and I love the oleander bushes planted between the camp sites for privacy. Super idea! The large fenced dog area is much appreciated, so often dog areas are really small. We would definitely stay here again. read more
