Not much to say about this little gem of a spot. Been here a hand full of times. It's a great little dive bar. And the wings are the greatest around. I am a first time patron of the Knotty Pine, the outdoor dining was clean & neat , the waitress Cindy was pleasant & efficient, and the food was delicious. HOLY BANANAS what great wings. "Some writer at a newspaper no one reads says that the wings are #1!" says most reviews, but hot damn they were right. Get them. The turkey wrap was unexpectedly good, too. The prime beef sandwich was overcooked so it was tough. Would recommend more on the rarer side - or specifying how you'd like your meat cooked. Voted "number one wings in NJ" or something like that and let me tell you they live up to their name. We always call in a bunch of wings and pick them within 10 mins. Always fresh and hot! This place is what it is; a great dive bar. Believe all the reviews. We stopped by on a Friday at 6 and had a few cold beers and some fantastic Buffalo Wings. Only complaint would be we wish our wings had a little more sauce, but thinking next time we'll order the Wings with extra sauce. They also have outside seating. I you want to impress your 1st date this isn't the place to go; but if you want to hang out and have some frosty beers; and some great wings wearing a t-shirt and shorts; this no frills place is for you. While I am usually here drinking beer today I stopped in for a non alcoholic lunch because the Fish and Chips are the best I've had in years. Real fresh Atlantic Cod with homemade batter - the frozen pre-battered mystery fish that most places try to pass off. I have never had an unhappy hour at the Pine. read more

This is a great bar. Saying that it's a dive bar is not a negative to me. Just like Diners, we used to have Bars like this all over NJ. I can't stand those places that serve drinks with 22 kinds of Martinis. You have bars, saloons, pubs, etc. Like everyone said the Wings are outstanding. Plus their burgers don't have a defined shape, but are irregular like fresh mad burgers should look like. I don't like skinny fries so the thicker ones here are right up my alley. They have a nice selection of beers but not huge. And the bartenders also make drinks, but for the most part the old fashioned kind. To my way of thinking you can't call yourself a bar, saloon or pub unless you have a dartboard and a pool table. The KPP delivers on both counts. I wish I could go here more frequently. But since I live a good distance away that's not to be. Luckily I have friends in Morris County and we all like opera. The AMC Rockaway shows about a dozen Met operas each year. So that gives me a god excuse to drive up there and then dine at the KPP! read more

I love a good dive bar, and that's certainly what this was. The locals didn't seem to enjoy some outsiders in the bar, so we sat at a table near the door and kept to ourselves. We felt like we were being stared at the whole time, that being said I could see how the place would be a local favorite if I lived here. We had to try the wings and the Motor Oil ones were AMAZING! They came out super fast and were delicious. They had a nice selection of beer on tap, I thought the prices would be a little cheaper for a place like this, but such is life! read more

I've been going to this bar for years. It's nice seeing familiar faces in the customers and staff. Jimmy the owner is probably one of the nicest and down to earth guy you'll ever meet. Food is great, staff is excellent. Only downside is I work too damn much to ever get there! read more

Wings are awesome! I love their KPP & Bloody Mary! Sean is also a great bartender. I have a bar within half a mile walking distance and I'd still prefer to drive here to see Sean or Cindy at least they have a personality and can socialize with you instead of other bars where they're too stuck up. read more

WOW. My coworker just took me to this place and it was an amazing experience... This place is small and it seems like people know each other and they made me feel like I was one of the usuals. The free Chili was really good, you can taste every bite of it...onions, peppers and beans. I order the wings and really good, too bad I finished before I snapped a pic....highly recommend them. The bartender, I think her name was Cyndi, was very attentive and friendly. Didn't even have to wait long for a refill...I don't think anyone at this place had an empty glass for more than 5 minutes and this place was packed...my kind of place. It's a dive bar for sure. Nothing going on except tv, bar stools and mostly hombres. Wanted to have a burger. Asked for it medium-well, got it well, because, well, the patty is flat so it's either well or raw. Huge buns and fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and slices of raw onions. Thought I would have to set aside the buns but they turned out to be soft and flavorful. Cleared my plate. I would not return, but Knotty Pine delivers if in a pinch ! read more

This was a few weeks ago. Went there & it was busy. We managed to find 2 seats at the bar though. Kind of got the vibe everyone at the bar kind of knew each other and maybe we were intruding. First round of draft beers we got were missing at least a full inch from the brim after the foam settled. We ordered wings because my gf said that's what we came there for. They were decent. We ordered bottles of beer for our 2nd round. Was curious about the quick draw lottery thing but couldn't get anyone's attention to ask about it. We tried to order a pizza (twice) but it never came. Got a pretty strong cold shoulder from the bartender, who's dad working was there too (or she kept calling him). We were very disappointed. The Knotty Pine Pub is that tiny place you would miss if you weren't looking for it. First off let me say that while I'm not a huge wing fan, the Knotty has changed that. Never have I ever had wings as good as theirs. The KPP style or motor oil are the best here, hands down. Prices are excellent with a fair alcohol selection. The knotty is largely a place for the local crowd so it's humble. If it's your first time there chances are the regulars will glance at you but will either greet you or leave you be. The bartenders are excellent and personable. When Shawn is tending it's a lot more fun. Overall it's a great place to come and hang out after a long days of work. read more

Comfortable friendly neighborhood dive bar. I saw the reviews about their wings so had to try. Were breaded and fried crispy which I like, and we're very tender inside. However, very small, and the 2 sauces I had were lacking much flavor. I had KPP and motor oil. Call them good, but why on a Best in the State list I don't know. Ribeye steak sandwich was good but burger average. Prices are reasonable. Overall, good place for a couple quick beers and a bite to eat that won't break the bank. Very nice staff and homey feel. This is exactly what you would expect from old school NJ bar with a pool table. Music is juke box, so it can range the spectrum, live music can be amazing, albeit loud in the small space. We go here all the time... They legitimately have the best burgers and best wings I've ever had in my life (and I've had plenty!) The bartenders are always super friendly, extremely attentive and always in a good mood! They have cold beer on tap and amazing bar food that's a great price!
