    Beer Battered Avocado Tacos
    Sal C.

Hands down, the best thing on the menu has to be the buffalo fries. I ordered them with both meats, al pastor and asada, and they were amazing. The bowl was very filling with all the fries and meat, and the toppings and sauce were a great combo. I would definitely go back just for that. The chips and salsa were also good. The salsa had just the right amount of mild heat with a fresh taste. The beer battered avocado tacos were decent, but in hindsight we should have gone with a protein style taco instead. With the deep fried avocado, it was a bit overpowering, and I noticed a slight aftertaste. It was a little disappointing that the horchata tasted watered down and more like a powdered mix rather than freshly made, but we understand that is not the main attraction. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The environment is more for those who enjoy the bar life, so it can get pretty noisy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was good, just not our style.

Service was excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance perfect, they have TV's if your looking for a place to watch some sports.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was great. We started out with guacamole and chips. Different items on the menu got everyone's taste. Here's what we tried. Shrimp fajitas which comes with rice, beans, pico de gallo , guac and your choice of tortillas. Veggies, bell pepper and onion. Perfect for sharing! The chile relleno comes with a side of rice, beans, and your choice of tortillas. Really good flavor and juicy. Battered fried fish tacos with cabbage slaw and chipotle aioli. Perfect pairing with a cucumber margarita. The birria tacos, 3 flavorful, juicy birria and cheese tacos with salsa to taste. The birria burrito comes with chips. They are delicious chubby flavorful burritos. Last but not least the birria quesadilla. Great flavor and as the others, cheese cheese cheese. Overall the food was great the service receive the drinks were bomb. Definitely a must try .

    Cheers!

I'm happy to say my second visit was just as good as the first. If not better. Sweet Sam & I were here to celebrate our darling Ms. Hannah's birthday. It was happy hour, so we were ready to indulge. Hannah & I both got the Shrimp Ceviche Tostada - a deal for $6 during Happy Hour. Sam ordered the Beer Battered Avocado Tacos (not HH), and we shared the Garlic Fries (not HH). The Ceviche Tostada was so good. The shrimp was fresh and it was topped with sliced avocado. I also liked the accompanying hot sauces. It was the perfect amount for me. Sam loved the tacos. They looked yummy. Or course we devoured the Garlic Fries. What made this visit so great (aside from the delicious food & tasty margaritas) was the excellent service we received from Matt! He was friendly, fun, and personable. I found out later that he and his wife Melissa are the owners. The fact that Matt is hands on and enjoys engaging with his customers earns this place a solid five stars.

Food is still always consistently excellent, vibes are chill and fun, and service/owner is always welcoming and so friendly! We love Knight Cap and it's always a great place for our occasional gals-get-togethers. They have a special taco Tuesday menu and an awesome happy hour menu with great prices for smaller portions of their main menu fan favorites. They do trivia nights on Wednesdays as well as other fun events throughout the week. Their tacos are always a hit and I love their shrimp ceviche tostadas - the veggies and shrimp are so fresh and flavorful. Their salsas are delicious too - honestly haven't had a bad dish here ever! Great spot for margaritas and tacos in a perfect location in the heart of Old Town Monrovia - I still highly recommend Knight Cap!

I was really craving some Mexican food so decided to stop by Knight Cap in the old town area of Monrovia and it was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Relatively empty inside on a Sat afternoon for lunch so I quickly snagged a seat at the bar and the female server was very quick and attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Got myself a skinny spicy margarita and some ceviche. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Both were delicious and it was a nice and relaxing afternoon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Very happy Sunday!!

I was ravished from the night before & hubby brought me here for breakfast, it was an awesome choice! [[HIGHLIGHT]]First off they had The Dodgers game on, seated quickly, good service and the food was on point.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with a nice cold beer....breakfast beverage of the champs! Hubby ordered chilaquiles and I got the potato tacos, they were perfectly crispy and had fresh tasty toppings. Their michelada mix is perfectly seasoned, went great with my Estrella Jalisco. I would definitely stop by again for another awesome meal!

Chips and Guac appetizer. Homemade both.

Fantastic food. For real. 10 out of 10. Service was over the top good and the place was busy. Highly recommend chile rellenos and the enchilada soup. Was so good we ordered nachos as encore. Loved late hours too. Happy hour in effect before 6 and after 10 on week days. We'll be back.

Yes! Shockingly good! Was hanging out here as a midpoint for an ie friend. Looked at the menu and decided to eat here. Our server was sweet but by herself. It'd be a fun place to watch a game. The chips and salsa were great, flavor and not a lot of spice. I couldn't decide on the surf & turf burrito and the birria quesadilla. Sadly I didn't get our servers name but she recommended the quesadilla. After I said yes I realized I really wanted a burrito. Food came out pretty quick. My friend tried his burrito and was shocked it was so good. I was like why are you shocked lol. Then I tried mine and understood. Idek how to explain it but it's just surprisingly really amazing. Foods just really flavorful and well done. Good size portions of steak & shrimp in the burrito and the sauce was complimentary and so so good. Bathrooms low key sketch in the back lol but I would absolutely go back.

Now who doesn't want a Knight cap? I Do!!! I had a really good time here! The food was excellent and the drinks were bomb! For my food I ordered the potato tacos, chips and guac, and my friend ordered chicken and steak fajitas, which he said was very delicious...he finished so rapidly like Major Payne haha *inside joke* but anyways the food is good no disappointment! Drinks: I had sangria and Hennessy Sidecar and they were very scrumptious! Made to perfection by Melissa and Matt!!! The service was top notch and exceptional! Matt and Melissa and the cooks were very nice and accommodating! They were attentive the whole time and easy going. I didn't want tomatoes and they prepared it without for me. The ambiance is prefect! It's quaint but a decent size for a fun night out or happy hour which is from opening until 6pm. We sat at the bar and it was a vibe. They had the games on which made the outing chill! Overall, I highly recommend Knight Cap! It's a good vibe, good deals, and yummy food! I'm happy I've finally tried this from my bookmark list, which was over a year. -Marshay D.

We sat at a table by the front window facing the main drag. The area definitely has an old town feel with many restaurants and shops up and down the street. There is also a park right across the street. There is plenty of parking around the corner on the street and in a nearby lot. I started out with the Coughlin's Law cocktail (Aviation gin, house infused vanilla syrup, fresh lemon, egg white, lavender bitters, $16). It was a good light drink with light vanilla and lemon flavor. I always love a good foam top too. She started out with a Basil Paloma (Herradura silver tequila, muddled basil & grapefruit, fresh grapefruit juice, lime, simple syrup, seltzer, $15). It had good grapefruit and basil flavor, and was nicely balanced. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower appetizer ($14). The cauliflower was supposed to be grilled, but it seemed almost raw. The buffalo sauce definitely had a good kick. For my entrée, I had the Black Angus Basin Burger (manchego cheese, carmelized onions, arugula, special sauce, brioche bun, $19). The burger was excellent. The cheese, carmelized onions, and arugula was a great flavor combo. The fries were good, but I'd order them more crispy next time. She had the two taco plate with fish and potato tacos ($15). The taco shells were freshly fried, and it was a filling plate that she enjoyed. We had one more round of drinks and I had the Billionaire cocktail (Old Forrester 100 proof bourbon, lemon, house made grenadine, absinthe, $16). This was excellent. It was very balanced, and not boozy at all with a very light sweetness. Her second was the Smoke and Fire (Peloton de la Muerte mezcal, Ancho Reyes liqueur, muddled jalapeno & orange, fresh lime, agave, chili salt, $15). It was pretty well balanced with a medium smokiness. It definitely had a kick of heat on the finish. Our server Lakyn was friendly and provided good service. The menu prices are cash prices. There is an extra 3.5% surcharge if you pay with a credit card. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer was mostly a miss, but everything else was very good so I'm rounding up to five stars. They have a very good sized cocktail and food menu, as well as many beers on tap. They also have happy hour specials. We would definitely return if we were in the area again.

We started off with drinks, girl next door; vodka, elderflower and blackberries, a mezcal drink which I can't recall but both drinks were good! For starters we ordered the bacon wrapped dates with bleu and mascarpone cheese and tempura green beans. Our entrees for the evening were the poblano burger with side salad and the chicken breast with mushroom risotto and broccolini. There was no room for desert otherwise I would've gone with the bread pudding. This is definitely a must try if in the Monrovia area.

The food is delicious and the prices are appropriate given the portion sizes. Service was prompt and professional. Parking might be a challenge, though there are public lots within a block or two. We went on a Friday night and encountered heavy traffic from the local farmer's market/fair. The best item was the Beef kabob, 5 out of 5 stars. It was perfectly cooked, a very simply salt and pepper seasoning, juicy and simply divine! We got the kids meal, which came with only 4 pieces, and I'd be interested to return for the full adult portion. Also a 5-star experience was the Fried cauliflower appetizer. It had just the right amount of crispiness, without any blackening, and the garlic/parsley/lemon juice combo worked well. The juice was sucked into all the crevices, and overall it was light. I think I could have eaten two portions myself and called it a satisfying meal. I did dip in some tzatziki, which worked great too! Lastly the Chicken shawarma was a 4-star dish. Still delicious and I'd get it again, but it was slightly salty from the marinade and added sauce. I was expecting this to be wrapped up, but it was more an open-face naan with the chicken covering the top. The place wasn't too busy but fairly full, we got a table right away by the manager and sat down, immediately a staff came and provided water and menus. It wasn't dark outside yet and so the restaurant was still bright, but once the sun settled down the restaurant got really dark and neon lights started to hit hard! It was like a night in the streets scene. Very cool but also hard to see food sometimes. We ordered a large boneless chicken (sweet chili and Korean spicy, mild), tteokbokki, bulgolgi and rice, and a side of fries. I would say that mild is really mild, definitely better for me because I cannot stand spicy but my table wanted spicy but I thought I can do mild and yes it was delicious and sweet chili was not spicy at all! Lorena spicy had a kick so I did try it but can't have much. We asked for gloves to help us eat them with our hands! The bulgolgi was the star, I think everyone liked it including my son who ate so much of it! Fries were crispy and soft, I thought they were great. My son didn't eat much of it but it's because he ate a lot of the bulgolgi. Tteokbokki was just as spicy, I had a taste and flavor was good but too spicy for me. Staff came to clean up as we finished eating and checked on us very often. Restrooms are individual and gendered, it does form a line sometimes. Overall, great staff, food, and overall vibe!
