Packed house on a Sunday

It's a dive diner and it's old and can use a deep cleaning. The walls are mirrors so you can watch yourself eat. If you can get past al that, I highly recommend this place for breakfast. The service was awesome. I get the feeling these women have been serving up hotcakes and sausage gravy biscuits for years. The kitchen must be pretty efficient too. I dined alone. Had to wait a few minutes for a booth. It's all booth seating. But then everything else happened like a well timed machine. I had a ham and cheese omelet with crunchy hash browns just the way I ordered them with dry wheat toast. The unsweetened iced tea which fuels me in the mornings (no coffee for this girl) was very good and the refills kept coming. If you are looking for an inexpensive place for breakfast that you can come as you are, try the fork and knife

Good Southern Style cooking. I eat here about once a week for a hearty meal. Don't expect some super clean new restaurant. Knife and Fork has been around forever and keeps the original vibe. I.e - Karen's stay away (yes I mean ladies that gave this place bad reviews like its fine dining). Good items: Chicken & Dumpling Lasagna Pot Roast I posted some pics of the menu to reference. Hope this helps!

To start this off, the sweet tea was amazing. I came here with a group two years ago and it was so good, very glad we came back again. Very cute restaurant that has exceptionally good food, not a long wait for the food, waitress was also nice and very helpful. The reason this has four stars is mainly because of the bathroom, it was unclean, didn't smell good(which most don't) and it also needs remodeling.

Breakfast for breakfast!

BREAKFAST for BREAKFAST! Almost as good as breakfast for lunch but pretty distantly back from breakfast for dinner, aka "brinner". This is a short order sort of restaurant. Maybe not as short as the one in My Cousin Vinny, but short. Two pages of eggs, waffles and such. Keep It Simple and Short. I went with the two eggs (over medium) with corned beef hash, grits (based on Melissa's recommendation) and toast. And coffee. Coffee comes in a large mug, which is awesome. While the gals did come around with refills often enough, it's nice to have your coffee fixed just the way you like it for more than two sips before the cup is empty. And it's decent coffee. Not that fancy caramel macchiato latte half caf stuff. This is coffee, nice and simple. Breakfast arrived on three plates. Eggs and grits on one, corned beef hash on the next and the toast on the third. Nice big eggs and the portions of grits and hash were excellent. As for the flavor, all were really good. The grits were maybe a little salty, but it's hard to match everyone's taste. The hash was plenty meaty and the eggs arrived just as I had ordered them. A good value of fat and carbs and protein for $5.10. With the coffee and a tip, it was rounded off to $10. Good deal. I like this place.

A great place to stop for lunch enroute to the beach. You get great family style country cooking in a diner style atmosphere. I had the grilled chicken tenders with okra & cole slaw. Mom had the vegetable plate, in addition to the above, you get a choice of potato salad, green beans and fried squash.

What a great little Ma & Pa Diner! This place as a nice little at home feel. The servers are very friendly and treat you like family. The food is good and you get a good amount for the price.

Credit card merchant fees being passed to customer.

My husband and I have been going here for years but we won't be back until they stop charging a "convenience fee" for credit card payments. This is bizarre and not a competitive business practice for a restaurant. The fee wasn't mentioned when I handed over my card and I wouldn't have known without looking at my receipt and asking about it. People who decline their copy of the receipt are probably confused when they receive their statement. We don't want to have to stop by the ATM before we go out to eat.

Food is good. Breakfast all day. It is what it is. A little neighborhood hole in the wall. Been here many times and will go many more.

Thank you to Sean at Metro Diner for making my pickup order experience great! I was picking up a…read morespecial lunch order for my team in recognition of Employee Appreciation, and Sean took the extra time to make sure everything was perfect. He double-checked that the order was correct and made sure I had extra utensils, condiments, and everything we needed. That level of service really stands out. It meant a lot to me because this was something special I was doing for my team, and Sean helped make sure it went smoothly. Thank you again! Although I didn't get pictures of the food this time, everything was amazing. I will definitely be back and will take pictures next time. Please check them out, won't be disappointed.

First and foremost, I want to preface by saying I believe in second chances and redemption, not…read moretrickery and bribes. Typically, when someone from a restaurant reaches out to me about my review, especially when they are not 5 star, I instantly become skeptical. However, this owner made me feel comfortable to share my thoughts and explain how my visit went before anything else. Over the years, I have received tons of owners offering me a free meal in exchange for my integrity but I could tell this owner was extremely genuine and wanted to make sure my voice was heard. The initial post will remain the same but I wanted to amend some of the initial remarks including the service. The first time I tried this place, I received service that was not in alignment to the core values and standards this restaurant upholds, which, I am human and I have worked in food service for years so trust me, I get it. Since being back twice since my initial visit, I have been treated like family. The service has been up to par and the staff has been incredibly friendly. As far as the ambiance, it gives the feel of an old diner which makes it charming and lovable. Perhaps, some restorations and furnishings can be done nothing that isn't manageable. Lastly, I wanted to make sure to do a thorough review of the menu so when I went back twice after my initial review, I tried a menu item for each the breakfast menu and the dinner menu. The food was great! It was favorable, warm and packed with fresh ingredients. I tried the ribs and Mac and cheese as well as a breakfast plate on two separate occasions without letting the restaurant know I was coming back for a remake. The only thing I wasn't super thrilled about was the Mac and Cheese, other than that it was good. It goes to saying that their standards are commendable as they do care about their service, food and experience of the customers.
