Excellent!! It doesn't look like much driving by but finally we did... and well worth it!! We ordered take out at the counter and service was friendly. Lots of seating and it felt very clean!! We had the grilled chicken with peppers and onions and cheese, which came with a greek salad and grilled zucchini. Delicious with lots of flavor! My partner ordered the gyro dinner and wow, delicious as well. Having been here 1 previous time when I thought the food was lacking flavor but the coleslaw was decent. I decided to order a quart of coleslaw & 1 order of onion rings to go. My shock when the owner charged me $14.00 for the quart of coleslaw, when I asked him "why is it so expensive whereas the onion rings were only $7.50 for a foam take out container; his condescending response was "well you ordered 2 pints , thats a special order" My bill was $23.57 !!!! NO WONDER THERE WERE NO DINERS THERE @ 5:00PM!!! I just walked out. Now, when I came home I opened the coleslaw containers & both of them were just a tad over half the container. How GREEDY CAN A PERSON BE??? A head of cabbage is 39 cents a pound & I liked theirs as it only has a drop of mayo in it. Needless to say I will continue going to Sun Valley Cafe where the owners do not rip you off, food is beyond excellent as well as the service. Very reasonable prices too!! read more

Was looking for a restaurant at lunch as most were closed on Monday's. Stopped at AJ's.they had a nice crowd which is a good sign. I ordered Hamburger steak with Onions and gravy along with mashed potatoes and gravy and a Greek salad. The food was delicious. Will definitely return again. read more

If it was possible to give more than 5 stars I certainly would. For those of you who do not know about this hidden gem of a restaurant you need to try it. The owners and staff are amazing people and treat us like family every time we eat there (which is typically several times each week). The service is always on point and the food is consistently excellent. If you are a fan of a great breakfast, then you need to give them a shot. We have been to just about every breakfast place in the surrounding area and no one does it as good as AJ's (best sausage links ever). We have 3 children that are picky eaters, and they clean their plates every time. If you are looking for a good old fashioned family restaurant run by an amazing group of people you need to give this place a shot. read more

Terrible. I tried this local spot for the first time about a week ago. Last time I will do that! I used the drive through and was greeted by a young woman with very long nails. This should have been my first red flag since long nails are not very sanitary. I ordered a gyro platter with rice and was then asked to drive around the building again to let the next car up to the window. I'm sorry. Drive THROUGH, not Drive AROUND is why I was there and other places don't have patron food this. That should have been my hint to request a refund and leave. But I didn't. I drove around like an idiot. I didn't wait very much longer for my food and took it home. When I sat down and opened the box, I saw no rice. I had received fries. I saw gyro meat looking stuff and it was so dry it crumbled. That was it for me. Never going back! You have been warned. read more

If you are looking for a cute little mom and pop restaurant, this it! While nothing is spectacular in presentation, they are very consistent and I've never had anything I didn't enjoy. The place is very clean and their tables and chairs are reminiscent of the 1950s or 60s, which is kind of the vibe you get from their menu. The menu definitely has a Greek Theme but they offer many items that are "American". I had their spinach pie appetizer to start. it is like a large spanakopita and it's amazing! It comes with tzatziki sauce that is also delicious. This thing is so big you can get it as a meal and it's the same thing, just with a side! I highly recommend it because it's very tasty. My partner had their special of the day which was a fish dinner and it was very good. Perfectly prepared. The only complaint he had was that the hush puppies were not particularly good. Not sure if they were frozen and reheated Or if it was just late in the day. Either way, if that's the worst thing that I have to say about my experience, it's not really any big deal. I had the Veggie Pita, which is something that I've had there before when it was owned by someone else. My only suggestion would be that they add some cucumbers and a little more lettuce to make it worth the price. Having said that, it was very delicious. We will definitely be returning to try other items and I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a nice satisfying yet an expensive meal. read more

AJ Family Restaurant has amazing home cooked meals! I started as a door dash customer & had my first dine in experience yesterday evening. It's a cozy little spot. Keiry served us & she is just the sweetest. She took care of us & made sure we had everything we needed to have a great dining experience. We paid the check & made it out to the car & Keiry even came out to bring me my leftover fried pickles I left sitting on the counter up front! I would recommend AJ Family Restaurant to anyone wanting some delicious food! The Gyro is delicious & so is the fried zucchini! These are some really friendly people. The food is excellent- except for the occasional overcooked underside of a breakfast biscuit. They are always super sweet when I pull into the drive thru so it's worth the thirty minute drive to get there. Reminds me of some great Greek owned places I've eaten at in New Jersey. I don't have photos to post - but I'm a very picky eater with sensitive tastes when it comes to food. If I say it's good, trust me- it's exceptional and a place I would gladly drive far to get to. read more

Placed order was incorrect- Greek Salad with Grilled Shrimp. Flounder with Calabash Shrimp. Ordered through doordash- Order received was calabash shrimp on greek salad and flounder. Well I am not eating fried shrimp and asked for grilled. Owner (Ken) said it was not his problem they are not affiliated with doordash. So will not recommend- as they did not try to correct the incorrect placed order. In fact I would have gone to pick up. My coworkers and I ordered from there all the time and the greek salad with lamb, chicken or shrimp was the choice of entrees. Lost business because they would not correct their mistake for one simple grilled greek salad. Sometimes when food is good is not worth the poor customer service. #BYE AJ read more

I have driving by this place for years. I went by this morning and the parking lot was packed. My wife and I stopped in for lunch. The place was clean and the server was attentive and helpful. The menu is what you would expect from a family restaurant. I ordered the mixed grill . The meats were cooked correctly. Nothing was dried out. The sides were also great. My wife had the Greek salad with gyro meat. Lots of meat and a good mix of greens and veggies. I wish I could give it a 4.5!!! We will be back for breakfast! Well worth a look! read more

I work for True homes with over 270 employees that orders from here all the time! They have lost all of us from ordering there again! My team just order lunch all of ours were correct except one! My coworker ordered from door-dash! It was so completely wrong and the manager said there's nothing they can do and didn't give any resolution or offer to fix her order! She's now with no lunch!! I was pleasantly surprised when we visited this restaurant. We found ourselves nearby and very hungry, but didn't want to eat fast food. AJ Family was the closest that looked like it may have something reasonably healthy on the menu, so we decided to try it. We were between the breakfast and lunch crowds, so there were only a couple of other tables occupied when we arrived. Once we were seated and I looked at the menu, we both started to worry: most of the dishes came with fries/rice and most had meat (my husband is a vegetarian). I've had mixed success in the past with small, independent restaurants like this; especially if you expect to ask for substitutions. But AJ Family was gracious and patient as we asked questions. My husband first asked for help isolating vegetarian options; the waitress suggested the spanikopita, which comes in either appetizer or entree sizes. I asked if there was something I could substitute for the rice pilaf; she said I could swap for any side, but she recommended the grilled zucchini. We both took her recommendation and were incredibly pleased. The spanikopita was a large portion, not too doughy, and the pasty was nice and crisp on top (hate it when the pastry sits too long and gets soggy). The meat on my mixed grill was well-seasoned and cooked exactly the way I like it: slight bit of crisp/char on the edges, but nice and moist on the inside. I was very glad I took her recommendation for the grilled zucchini...just slightly browned on the outside, little bit of crunch, but nice and hot throughout. As I said, we went in with low expectations, but we would definitely go back again. I'd love to try the salmon in other pictures on here! read more

This small, non-descipt restaurant in Monroe is AWESOME. The hummus is the best I've ever had!! Their soups rock as well. I go several times per week for lunch (takeout, drive-through is so convenient right now!). Club sandwich, grape leaves, fried zucchini, salads are my other favorites but you can't go wrong here! read more
