From my view, this is one of the best barbeque restaurants in North Carolina! This was the second time I visited this particular location (out of currently 5 location), and it did not disappoint.  This is a North Carolina-based chain offering a diverse menu including pork, chicken and turkey in addition to all the side items you can possibly think. My wife and I went for the chicken wings, the chicken thighs and the turkey with hush puppies, sweet potato casserole, coleslaw and the barbeque beans. Everything was delicious! We walked in for dinner, and the service was excellent, and we did not have to wait at all for a table.  This particular location is accessible and it has its own free parking lot with plenty of spaces.   Overall, 100% recommended. read more

Visited for lunch on a Saturday and had a great experience. The restaurant is clean and well appointed. The decor is cowboy and western themed but not too kitschy. The service was quick and attentive and we never had to wait on refills or anything else. I ordered a regular brisket plate with a side of mac and cheese. The plate came with hush puppies with sweet butter as well as pickles and onions. The brisket was delicious!! I asked for a little on the fatty side and it was super tender and flavorful. I didn't use any of the sauces provided because it was flavored enough for me. My husband had a brisket spud and it was loaded with all the goodies. We also ordered take out deserts - banana pudding and apple crumble. They were both yummy later in the day. A bit on the sweet side but definitely yummy. Highly recommend! read more

My son and I met my wife for lunch after their beach trip at Smoke Pit. I have been a fan of SP since they open their first restaurant next to the Stockade in Concord. It was free side Wednesday so each of us got a sandwich with a side so we could take advantage of the extra side. My son got the pulled pork sandwich with fries and slaw. My oldest daughter got the pulled chicken on a bun with fries and Mac n cheese. Katy ordered the kids sliders with fries that came with cookies. My wife ordered the dragon sliders with fries and white slaw and I ordered the pulled chicken with mustard sauce with fried okra and the side of the day- cheesy hash browns. Everyone but my son brought home leftovers and everyone enjoyed their food. The pulled chicken on Texas toast was stuffed full of chicken and the white slaw and mustard sauce with a tomato was a nice combination of flavors. I tried my sons pulled pork and it had outstanding flavor. Our service was great from Kiara. She brought our drinks, brought the food and checked on us as needed. Smoke pit is always a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and we will continue to make this our staple when in Monroe. read more

This year my family decided to order our Thanksgiving sides and brisket from Smoke Pit. We periodically eat here throughout the year, and have used them for special occasions in the past. This year was a bit different. The sweet potato casserole was even better than before, with crunchy sweet bites (of sugar?) throughout. Absolutely delicious. A crowd favorite. Unfortunately, the mac & cheese was poorly made. After opening the aluminum to-go pan, it was clear. The mac was very dry throughout, lacked cheese, and had many dried out, crunchy/discolored noodles on top. The brisket surprisingly lacked a lot of flavor also. We've eaten their mac and beef brisket many times, and have never experienced either being poorly made until Thanksgiving this year. Bummer, but I won't write them off just yet. read more

Do not recommend! It should not take an hour to serve two sandwiches. The food is not that great for an hour an a half wait, plus it was cold. If the kitchen is behind they should let the customers know before sitting down. The service was abysmal. The waitress took about 30 minutes to take our order and didn't come back to check on us at all while we waited. We had to flag her down to ask how long it would take this was after an hour had already passed. The ambiance is meh. read more

My waitress was friendly and the food came quick. I went there around 5pm and it was about half full but not a loud place. I got the chopped brisket sandwich which had more fat than I had asked for but the pieces without much fat were very tasty. This place is always good. Especially the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. You also can never go wrong with the Mac and cheese.

Our first experience at this location was a great one. We called ahead for a large order and Taylor did fantastic taking a large order over the phone. Reviewing the food we realized we needed more. Chelsea took our additional order and made sure we did the add-ons economically. She even took the time to set up a bbq sauce tasting! The staff are all very nice and friendly. Let me start off with saying that it's not the servers's fault or any other people upfront, but what I will say is it is the world slowest kitchen I've never seen somewhere so backed up. Don't ever order out at this place unless you're coming in to sit down it's a waste of time and money. Pulled pork or pulled chicken, wings, brisket, chicken salad, and plenty of sides to choose from. You always get a piece of Texas toast. We went with takeout this time and it was just as good. I have visited the Concord and Gastonia restaurants and decided to try Monroe. I ordered the 2 meat combo with brisket and smoked turkey. My sides were sweet potato casserole and Mac and Cheese. It was amazing as expected. The food never disappoints at The Smoke Pit! My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the waitress was a bit slack. She was nice but forgot my banana pudding and she also wasn't very helpful with the payment device.She left it with us with no explanation. We sat in the side room and most of my party was hot and a bit sweaty. The thermostat was on warm for some reason. Overall the food outshined any of the issues. The wait was also quick to sit down and the restaurant was clean and had a good atmosphere. read more

We've been here a few times and have always had great service tonight, which was no exception. The food has changed a bit since we first came, not in any negative way,just different. The menu had been slimmed down, too, which I actually like better. Before, there were so many choices it was hard to decide, with this streamlined menu it's simpler to choose. Sunday 3-22-2026 around noon, food was good, however our service was less than desirable. Waitress got us our food and disappeared. Everyone sat sucking on ice because their drinks had long been gone. Then there was an 18% gratuity added to our ticket when the service we received was worth less than half that amount. This is easily our favorite BBQ in the Charlotte area. Portions are humongous, so be prepared for leftovers. So when you've been to the The Smoke Pit location in Salisbury, NC the bar is set pretty high on BBQ after eating there. Of course you expect the same if not more when visiting their Monroe, NC location. Imagine going to McDonald's and they tell you they are out of Big Macs!!! Well that's kind of what happened at the Smoke Pit's Monroe location when they tell you they are out of BEEF BRISKET!!! HOW does that happy AT 6 PM? So disappointing I almost walked out but rolled the dice and ordered the two meat combination and asked for two helpings of 4 Bone Ribs expecting 8 Rib Bones but got 9 generous ones. Perhaps the waitress had a soft spot for me in her heart and tried to redeem the restaurant on not having the BEST BBQ BRISKET in Charlotte? Well I won the Roll of the Dice as the Pork Ribs by far are the most delicious, most juicy & flavor-able Ribs I've ever had in my 69 years of life!!! Tenderness of the meat outstanding. The BEST mixture of smoke & pork combo ever imagined!! So good I forgot about their Brisket sell out and was so happy the meal was beyond my expectations!!! If you ever have doubts about trying this location or any of THE SMOKE PIT locations just throw them away and march yourself in to enjoy the best BBQ beyond your expectations. I've tried a lot of other BBQ places in Charlotte area but none that came close to the taste and generous portions of THE SMOKE PIT. Service is always great and they are very nice people so you feel like they really want to serve and make you happy. BTW - Corn Bread & white coleslaw will bring tears to your eyes as they taste that good!! The burnt ends are by far my favorite. They are referred to as BBQ candy and I can see why. The sweet potato casserole is like a dessert and a side all in one. My husband and I have ordered the burnt ends sandwich and BBQ salad previously and enjoy the combo along with the leftovers for the next day. Unfortunately, it doesn't taste like there's any smoking going on here. When we make or order smoked meat, it has been smoked on a smoker. The meat here is cooked on a standard restaurant grill. After placing my sandwich order, I was asked what sauce I wanted because they cook the sauce into the meat on the grill. Huh?!? I said I'd figure out which sauce to add to my sandwich after the meal was served. Well, there is no flavor in my sandwich aside from the grill grease taste on the bun (from toasting). They rely on bottled sauce for any flavor. Unfortunately, the potato salad was the same- flavorless. Disappointing meal. read more

Man this place used to rock, I gave it 5 starts a few years ago. The new super limited, post-covid, menu is a big downgrade and the food seems to have suffered. The burnt ends were extremely greasy, brisket was dry. We gave it a couple tries after the menu change but it's just not what it once was. Bummer, we won't be visiting this location again. The Salisbury location still has a full menu and the food is consistently good, still recommend that location. read more

I really like this place but last night was less than impressive. Apparently there was only one bartender who was also serving tables which is never a good situation. Drinks took so long that food came right after drinks were finally served. My margarita was all sour mix, as was someone else in the group. The meals thankfully were delicious but portion sizes seemed off. Yet the appetizer portions were bordering on obnoxiously large. The smoked Turkey is delicious and their potato salad as well. The pictures attached make the meal size look insanely small! Management should be looking at this as I feel it would be a runoff for most!
