In June of 2025, the air conditioner stopped working. I thought I would try to keep with the same company for simplicity. The person who came to the house to look at it was nice but told me it had to be replaced. He said he would let them know at the office and someone would call me to discuss the possibilities of replacing the unit. no one called. I finally called the office and John stated he would call me later that evening or for sure the next morning with an estimate. no one called. after waiting another 2 weeks to hear from all hours, I decided to have another company install a new unit. They were, however, very prompt in sending a service bill for $140.00. since they were not in a hurry to call me back I was not in a hurry to pay the bill. two months later they are now today wondering why I haven't sent the money. i would have sent it immediately if I hadn't been kept waiting on the return call with an estimate as promised. I tried to return their call after I got off work to explain why I hadn't yet sent payment and that I was waiting to see how long it would take to get a return call from them. Even though I called before 5pm which is the time they are supposed to be open till, no one answered. I tried twice. No answer. I am sending their payment but am hoping they read this review for improved customer service. Follow through is an extremely important part of customer service and this was lacking in my experience.

They had come and done work for me in the past and the service guy is very good and the only reason I call them. He actually did something to my air conditioner a few years ago that has kept me from having to buy a new one. I've called there several times to get something scheduled to have him check it to make sure it's running OK before it gets hot. I had a day scheduled a few weeks ago but the office lady called and cancelled it saying they had people with no air and would call to reschedule which she did not. I called again today to try and schedule an appointment for next week as it will be getting hot again. She says I'll call you in a few days to schedule that. I don't even understand that. Why would she just not schedule it while I'm on the phone and have already been cancelled by them! She is also sometimes rude on the phone. It's too bad because the service guy is great and that's why I call this company. Evidently they don't need the business too badly!!!

After an evaluation by their technician we were advised that we needed a new motor which would cost between $2000 - $3000 and that this was probably a 2-5 year fix. Based on this we decided to install a new furnace and a technician arrived a few days later to install it. After about 7 hours the technician informed our tenants that he could not finish the install as the pressure of gas coming into the house was insufficient and we needed to contact Mid American to address this issue. Mid American dispatched a representative out to our residence and upon entering our home he quickly identified that the Doug's Heating and Air Conditioning technician failed to cap the gas line and our entire basement was filled with gas. He was in shock and immediately called Dougs Heating and Air Conditioning to inform them of the gross negligence of their employee which left our tenants and neighborhood in a very dangerous situation. I also immediately contacted Doug's Heating and Conditioning to inform them of my displeasure with their poor workmanship and the HVAC 101 their technician should have performed prior to leaving our residence. They were very apologetic and ending up fixing my humidifier, gave me a $300 discount and a 2 year maintenance plan. However, based on the severity of this poor workmanship I feel a rating of 1 star was earned.
