They did the install on our fireplace and my wife called for maintenance and the one time they picked up the phone, the answer was "you guys are far, we will call you back". I left about 4+ voicemails, the last one I stated that, I would write a bad review if I did not receive a call back. Here's my review, HORRIBLE. 11/15/2021 KJB did respond couple of days after and sent a technician, Bill. He came in today, did maintenance and fixed the problem. This gentleman is very unprofessional in my opinion. He came and improperly measured a fireplace in my home twice. Dealing with his company was so difficult and complicated. He sent me to his showroom, and no one there seemed to have any clue what they were talking about. He ended up trying to sell me low level construction grade products at substantial premiums. I sent him a text because my entire master bedroom smelled like gas whenever I ran the fireplace he installed the day before. He texted me cursing me off not to text him late at night. If it was late, he could have merely said that the following day and I would have apologized. A normal person does not capitalize the use of the F word to a client he tried charging nearly $40k to. I genuinely do not recommend working with this guy or his company, in my opinion. There are other companies like Cozy Dog Fireplace that are so much better and more professional, in my opinion. Stay clear of this place if you can, call cozy dog. They did my other fireplaces and did a wonderful job. Would never deal with this guy again. So unprofessional in my opinion. Also if you read their other reviews, many appear to have never actually worked with KJB. One says they "called" another says they look forward to working with KJB. I think they are fake. Don't waste your hard earned money here. Apparently, they're plenty busy and in no need of new customers. I called them the morning to confirm the exact time of the appointment but they weren't able to. I then asked that theygive me a 30min heads up. I later receive a voice message that the guy showed up late to the appointment they weren't able to confirm a couple of hours earlier. I then asked whether he could come back the same day because there seemed to be a miscommunication. His response was that there was no miscommunication and that I had simply forgotten about my appointment. He would likely not be able to but would let me know. Seriously? read more

Had my gas fireplace serviced for the first time since I had it 15 years ago. It was acting a bit erratic with it being difficult to ignite and the flame going out for no apparent reason. Craig , the service man, did a thorough inspection and service. It works fine now. Craig mentioned a couple of things that could enhance our enjoyment of the fireplace, but stressed that they were just optional and not required. He was very neat with his servicing of the unit. We used KJB to install a gas fireplace back in January 2016. Installation went well, fireplace is beautiful. However, right from the beginning, we were never able to run it for very long, as it emits an odd smell that's hard to describe. It's definitely not gas. It's almost like a musty, smoky odor. It's bad enough that we have to shut it off. I had Family visiting last year over the holidays from out of town, and I had the fireplace running prior to their arrival. As soon as my Neice walked into the house, she asked me immediately what the odd smell was, and I told her we had the fireplace on, and we shut it off right away. So right there and then, my Husband and I knew it wasn't just us smelling it. My Mom smells it too, and I can't even run it while she's in my house as she gets a headache from it. To KJB's credit, I called to complain and they did come to check it out for us, free of charge. They found nothing wrong, and asked us to run it a few hours after they left, which we did, but we still noticed the odor, and it hasn't gone away, even now, almost three years later. Don't know what this can be, but sadly, after spending all this money and having it checked out, it's still unusable. It looks nice in our living room, but once then weather turns cold, it's useless, and just for show. We feel bad because we'd love to run it, especially at night while watching TV. Hopefully this hasn't been an issue with other customers. read more

Called KJB to have a look at gas fireplace in new house I bought. I sent Tim in service some pictures and he recommended a service call. Our gas insert was and older model, but the technician had a look and was able to repair. Changed the thermal coupling and pilot fired right on. Added some embers and looked good as new. He recommended upgrading as some point in future, but said we will still get use out of it. Technician was knowledgeable and would use again. read more

I was indecisive having to make a lot of decisions in a short amount of time (from closing to move in) and I was a royal pain but he stuck with us and showed multiple options, talked us through the process and truly went above and beyond in response to my slightly bonkers requests. Awesome customer service! KJB installed a gas fired log insert into my fireplace about 6-7 years ago. The unit has been great, looks great, works well, etc. Well the remote control stopped working the other day. I changed the batteries but still wouldn't work. So I brought the remote and the remote receiver/unit into KJB this morning. After trying it out and determining it was the remote receiver/unit and not the remote they gave me a new receiver/unit. When I asked how much I owed them for the new unit, the response was "nothing". Now again the unit was at least 6 years old and I am sure out of warranty. I fully expected and willing to pay for it. Now that is GREAT customer service!!! They stand behind their products. Not too many companies do that anymore. If you are looking for anything to do with a fireplace I HIGHLY recommend KJB. read more

If you need fireplace equipment, you should definitely try this company. I needed a screen and the design I wanted wasn't offered as a standard product. Jason listened to me and proposed a customized design from one of their manufacturers. The screen arrived earlier than projected and I picked it up from the store. Unfortunately, when I got home, I struggled to assemble it. I had to take it back to the store to get help. Frank was fantastic! He worked with me for nearly an hour to assemble the mesh screen on the frame -- and all the time he had a big smile. What a pleasure to deal with friendly people. read more

Here is the proof of the continuous lie. They sent us the contract with the wrong color and told us the will change it over the phone - weeks before the job was installed! The many attempts to redo the job was from our side, our calls and requests were either ignored or answered many days later with no clear resolution. They proposed to change at no additional labor but $2,000 for new tile. The cost was way overpriced and they would not allow us to purchase the stone we like elsewhere. After many attempt - from our parts to correct this with KJB we did notify them that we are done - so that is another lie. read more
