I recently purchased a home in Milford NJ and prior to close I had a level 2 chimney inspection which suggested a chimney liner be installed/repaired. Contacting Rob Brancaccio was recommended by the inspection company. I immediately received a quote for the work to be done as well as a detailed outline of what exactly was being done (and why). Rob was prompt in replying to ALL of my email inquiries, even after a month or so of closing madness and delays. When I was ready for the work to be done, I emailed Rob and they had their team out to my place at the end of that same week. This leads me to the guys that were said to show up at 10am. Mike and Sean arrived promptly at 10am, abided by all COVID restrictions (masked up and kept their distance), and got right to work. Mike took the time to explain everything to me and answer any questions I had about the original condition of the chimney and utilities. Sean was up on the roof carefully cleaning and prepping while Mike was down in the utilities area cleaning up (vacuuming old debris behind boiler) before prepping for their work. Both seemed to work well together and had a great attitude through the job. The entire process was probably just over an hour. Both men finished cleaning up before requesting my attention. Social distanced, Mike came back to the house with paperwork for me to sign and pay. He explained everything they did once more, explained the warranties, permits and what to expect when I fire up my furnace for the first time. I am very happy with EVERYONE I worked with during this process. The price was on par (slightly better/competitive) with other estimates, service was top notch and everyone was friendly. A+++!!! Additional Note: 4/14/2021 Lately, I've had some leakage in the roof/chimney area following heavy rains in the same location as chimney service last year. I called and emailed pictures to Rob and he had a crew come out. The crew did a quick review and re-sealed what they could. Issue persisted. Today Rob sent out Pablo, who was a genuinely nice man and knowledgeable about his trade. There were several attempts to correct the problem, but it seemed to be unrelated to the chimney itself. Pablo spoke to me with respect and explained every thing he did and possible fixes. He me with some quotes and tips for my own knowledge of home-ownership. I could not recommend these guys enough!! read more

Wonderful service! Doug came out on Thursday to evaluate my chimney & the work was completed the following Tuesday. The quote was very fair, the team who did the install were very neat, and everything went smoothly. I was very glad that they service Bayonne. My 110 year old house appreciated the upgrade. read more

Nick and his team (Mike, Freddy, and Breily) were fantastic to work with! We hired American Chimney Service when we moved into our home in Bloomfield NJ and we were happy we did! Nick was thorough in his explanation of our issues to myself and my wife. He was also very thorough about explaining the repair and cleaning process step by step. On the day of work, his team got in there and worked quickly and effectively on our chimney which had years of neglect from the previous owners. When they were finished it was like new and they explained to us how to maintain our chimney to prevent it from falling into that condition again. We'll be calling Nick and his team again for our annual chimney sweep for sure! read more

Our chimney was over 100 years old, and In desperate need of repair. After an inspection, Mattison Roofing recommended American Chimney. Their service representative also inspected the chimney from attic to basement. He said the chimney to the roof level was the only necessary work to be done. We were given a very fair price. Their crew was able to complete the work in one day. They were professional, considerate and did a beautiful job. We could not be happier with American Chimney. We highly recommend them! read more

I called Shelton, CT office. I was quoted 149.99 for inspection and cleaning. Guy comes and says due to snow on the ground I can't put a ladder out there for inspection. Then he says basic cleaning only goes up 3 ft. and what if you have a nest up there. You need deep cleaning. Mind you we have chimney cap and have not even used the fireplace for 2 years. He came in with vacuum at 9:53 am and left with vacuum at 10:04. Supposedly did a deep cleaning and looked at chimney outside by just looking up at it. Left soot on my grey fireplace as he did not clean up very well after vacuuming and ended up charging $349.00. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. BIG RIP OFF!!!! read more

Found them on Yelp. They had good reviews and got back to me the quickest. The guy came and cleaned out our chimney that had not been touched in 20 years! He even took the time to teach us how to use it since we never had before. We had a fire that very afternoon. Quick, easy, effective, and reasonably priced! read more

Great overall service. Showed up on time and very clean work! Left the area nice and clean so highly recommend them!

Doug was on time, honest and knowlegeable. He EXPLAINED & SHOWED us what was wrong, emergent and optional. We learned today that we not only got ripped off financially for a previous service but that the job wasnt even done halfway up to code (what do we know). i feel totally comfortable and confident letting him correct this job in the very near future. He knows his stuff and takes the time to speak to us in layman's terms. Thank God for yelpers and their reviews. thanks Doug read more

I recently called American Chimney Service to inspect our fireplace/chimney in our newly purchased home. Doug walked me through the various issues facing our setup, explaining them in great detail. He offered us a rough estimate on what the work would cost and was more than understanding that we couldn't afford to take on the project at this time. He even went above and beyond to make sure our furnace exhaust was in good order. Once we are able to make the needed repairs we'll absolutely be calling American Chimney back to take care of the job. read more

Removed copper chimney cap and refused to return it to me. Since when do I have to ask for someone to give something that belongs to me back ? Replacement chimney cap was aluminum foil from Dollar Tree. The additional"repairs" were most likely bogus and poorly done as well. Untrustworthy and unresponsive when the issue was questioned but big on the mansplaining double talk. Go elsewhere. read more

After a number of estimates, I highly recommend this company. They were very thorough & polite & cleaned everything up eventhough I said I would do it. They are very hard workers, especially in this heat. The gentleman, Doug, who made the estimate explained every single thing they would be doing and how. The other people I got estimates from didn't even go downstairs to check the furnace & pipes (which had to be replaced). If I could give them 10 stars, I would! read more

Not sure why this company had low stars in Years past but we've had a great experience with them recently. We were getting water into our chimney after shoddy work from a different contractor 2.5 years prior when we purchased our home. I contacted 2 other local chimney companies who were recommended by my Livingston locals. 1st guy scheduled quickly in 2 weeks, then cancelled 5 minutes to appt. and next day didn't even show up or answer his phone/messages. 2nd company, the owner never felt like he was in the wrong even though his inspection guy missed a couple things in consultation regardless of just looking for water causes. I Called American chimney for a consult since I just had a bad feeling about booking work with 2nd company and I'm soooo glad I did. Pablo, one of the directors of operations, came out and really took his time looking around in our very large chimney. Noted some areas same as 2nd company and other things like debris in our damper that 2nd company missed that could be contributing to water coming in. He was patient and was in no rush to leave. Instead he took time to educate and answer all my questions and concerns and even gave his work cell#. This was a huge reason why I hired them. They weren't dismissive nor did I feel like I was inconveniencing them. I got the feeling that they wanted the business but also wanted to do right by the client. When weather finally agreed, we got work scheduled quickly. Workers came timely and completed, including clean-up! When an area was of concern to me, Pablo addressed it and took care of it right away. No making excuses, no extra charges. I could really tell they want to make it right the first time around and they stand by their work. Really appreciated their honesty. They could've easily upsold me but didn't try to. Professionalism is unparalleled compared to the previous 3 chimney places we've dealt with (2 of which were highly recommended in my area). American chimney and Pablo will be our go-to for any repairs and maintenance from now on. P.S. no more water into our chimney since work has been completed! read more

Let me start by saying. They didn't need to clean my chimney from my boiler. You know why ?? Honesty. That's why. Doug showed up on time. Explained the job and dropped a ton of knowledge on me. He looked through it and said it was unnecessary. If you want to deal with a real professional and are not sure what's going on with with your chimney this is the guy you must call. read more

Arrange the meeting for this past Sunday received a phone call at 8:30 in the morning and nobody showed up. Was told that he would get here eventually and never showed up so in short I was woken up on a Sunday morning at 8:30 for an appointment that they never showed up for. read more

Did a quick chimney sweep and then proceeded to tell me we needed $5000 of bogus repairs. Showed me fake cell photos of a broken flue. Thankfully I just had an inspection and knew this was a scam. Will not hire again. read more

I recently moved and needed my chimney to cleaned/inspected. They were great. I had an 8:00 AM appointment and they were there on time, actually a few minutes early which is a plus for me. The guys were very courteous, clean and professional. They moved furniture and put down blankets so they didn't track anything through the house. They cleaned the fireplace and showed me this inside of the chimney. A cap was required, which they installed right away. I would recommend American Chimney Service to my family and friends and will be using them again in the future. Thank you for excellent service! read more

Doug was prompt, courteous and professional providing thorough inspections and report for us for our new home. Thank you!

We just moved in to a new home and called them for a chimney inspection. The owner answered phone. He was friendly and very knowledgeable. Called them three weeks ago. I am getting water into my house through the chimney when it rains. Spoke with Nicole, a nice enough girl. She said,"no problem, we'll have a rain cap put on before the week is over," and that it'd cost $225. Well, it's three weeks later, I've called them four times, never received a return call, still no rain cap. This is the typical chimney contractor, unfortunately "typical", when it comes to chimney contractors, means unprofessional. Call someone else- anyone else. These guys definitely do not need your business. read more

These folks were great. I called 3 different businesses. One never responded, a second came and said the project was too difficult. Then American Chimney arrived. They came up with a creative solution to my problem, recommended I not to a bigger project that would have cost me a fair amount of money. When the workers showed up, they were professional, nice, and cleaned up after themselves and left the place as they found it. The final project was exactly as it was estimated, in both scope and time - and cost. i would highly recommend them. Ask for Pablo. read more

They claim that they provide a chimney cleaning and 12 point inspection for $40. They said "your chimney is clean and we won't sell you anything that you don't need". But they charged us for the cleaning anyway. They just want on by saying that we need thousands of dollars of chimney work done to our house. This company is a complete rip off.
