I called Shelton, CT office. I was quoted 149.99 for inspection and cleaning. Guy comes and says due to snow on the ground I can't put a ladder out there for inspection. Then he says basic cleaning only goes up 3 ft. and what if you have a nest up there. You need deep cleaning. Mind you we have chimney cap and have not even used the fireplace for 2 years. He came in with vacuum at 9:53 am and left with vacuum at 10:04. Supposedly did a deep cleaning and looked at chimney outside by just looking up at it. Left soot on my grey fireplace as he did not clean up very well after vacuuming and ended up charging $349.00. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. BIG RIP OFF!!!! read more

I recently purchased a home in Milford NJ and prior to close I had a level 2 chimney inspection which suggested a chimney liner be installed/repaired. Contacting Rob Brancaccio was recommended by the inspection company. I immediately received a quote for the work to be done as well as a detailed outline of what exactly was being done (and why). Rob was prompt in replying to ALL of my email inquiries, even after a month or so of closing madness and delays. When I was ready for the work to be done, I emailed Rob and they had their team out to my place at the end of that same week. This leads me to the guys that were said to show up at 10am. Mike and Sean arrived promptly at 10am, abided by all COVID restrictions (masked up and kept their distance), and got right to work. Mike took the time to explain everything to me and answer any questions I had about the original condition of the chimney and utilities. Sean was up on the roof carefully cleaning and prepping while Mike was down in the utilities area cleaning up (vacuuming old debris behind boiler) before prepping for their work. Both seemed to work well together and had a great attitude through the job. The entire process was probably just over an hour. Both men finished cleaning up before requesting my attention. Social distanced, Mike came back to the house with paperwork for me to sign and pay. He explained everything they did once more, explained the warranties, permits and what to expect when I fire up my furnace for the first time. I am very happy with EVERYONE I worked with during this process. The price was on par (slightly better/competitive) with other estimates, service was top notch and everyone was friendly. A+++!!! Additional Note: 4/14/2021 Lately, I've had some leakage in the roof/chimney area following heavy rains in the same location as chimney service last year. I called and emailed pictures to Rob and he had a crew come out. The crew did a quick review and re-sealed what they could. Issue persisted. Today Rob sent out Pablo, who was a genuinely nice man and knowledgeable about his trade. There were several attempts to correct the problem, but it seemed to be unrelated to the chimney itself. Pablo spoke to me with respect and explained every thing he did and possible fixes. He me with some quotes and tips for my own knowledge of home-ownership. Not sure why this company had low stars in Years past but we've had a great experience with them recently. We were getting water into our chimney after shoddy work from a different contractor 2.5 years prior when we purchased our home. I contacted 2 other local chimney companies who were recommended by my Livingston locals. 1st guy scheduled quickly in 2 weeks, then cancelled 5 minutes to appt. and next day didn't even show up or answer his phone/messages. 2nd company, the owner never felt like he was in the wrong even though his inspection guy missed a couple things in consultation regardless of just looking for water causes. I Called American chimney for a consult since I just had a bad feeling about booking work with 2nd company and I'm soooo glad I did. Pablo, one of the directors of operations, came out and really took his time looking around in our very large chimney. Noted some areas same as 2nd company and other things like debris in our damper that 2nd company missed that could be contributing to water coming in. He was patient and was in no rush to leave. Instead he took time to educate and answer all my questions and concerns and even gave his work cell#. This was a huge reason why I hired them. They weren't dismissive nor did I feel like I was inconveniencing them. I got the feeling that they wanted the business but also wanted to do right by the client. When weather finally agreed, we got work scheduled quickly. Workers came timely and completed, including clean-up! When an area was of concern to me, Pablo addressed it and took care of it right away. No making excuses, no extra charges. They claim that they provide a chimney cleaning and 12 point inspection for $40. They said "your chimney is clean and we won't sell you anything that you don't need". But they charged us for the cleaning anyway. They just want on by saying that we need thousands of dollars of chimney work done to our house. This company is a complete rip off.
