My husband and I are thrilled with our new (main) driveway, 3-slab concrete sidewalk replacement, plus our 2nd driveway parking spot area replacement, which was all expertly done by A. Macchione Brothers this fall. I would like to give a special shout out to Matt Macchione who was project manager and onsite coordinator for our rather large project. Melissa (main office/reception) was an absolute gem when I had any questions during the process itself (scheduling, billing, general info). From start-to-finish, they were sensational. We get literally 10 compliments per week on our driveway from people stopping by or walking their dog(s). Complete strangers ask who we used. I went with them because they came highly recommended first by my Mother (who had them repair her driveway after a tree removal company cracked it by not using wooden boards while they operated a crane in her driveway). In additional, three of our neighbors used them (Ken S., Keith and John) - all of their driveways still look amazing after several years of constant use. Biggest thing to realize before committing to a new driveway (besides the cost) is how long it is going to take. It will be around 2 weeks from demo-to-completion. All of this is mentioned up from up front by them and detailed in their estimate package (which has literally pages of info from how the process works). After you complete the entire process, they provide a handy booklet that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to care for your new driveway, which is super useful. Highlights of my interaction with Matt and Melissa: 1) Professional 2) Responsive (Matt texted regularly with updates) 3) Beautiful Work (Pics speak for themselves ) 4) Highly informative, direct, honest and skilled at their jobs 5) Appreciative of my time (always called before they came onsite). every time it rains my driveway has puddles in front of the steps. Turns icy in colder weather. They refused to address the issue. they don't return calls in reference to a problem. It was easy to correct when first done. Not the case now probably. So we are extra careful exiting the house into the driveway. read more

According to my repaving request back in July 21, they told me they would address my driveway within a few weeks, because of a busy season. So I've been calling since every other week and their answer is always the same , "we'll call you'. Never to be heard from them. So Oct 19th and I figure they are addressing the bigger jobs. They tore up my whole driveway but then took weeks to come pour the asphalt in near freezing weather !!! Obviously the cold weather did not allow the driveway to dry properly and when Spring came the whole driveway had white specks all over and looked 10 years old !!! read more

I've had the exact same problems with Macchione's haphazard, amateurish work as many others described here. When they repaved my asphalt driveway it did not drain properly. One section gathered water in a large 1- to 2-inch deep pool that came in contact with the house and foundation, and rain water also drained into my garage. My worn out driveway in its previous condition drained better, and they actually created a drainage problem that wasn't there before! They also never responded to my complaints and didn't make any attempt to fix the problem. They just took my money and ran. I had to hire another company to fix their shoddy work. See the pattern here? AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Maybe we should all band together and file a class action lawsuit against these frauds. At the very least they need be stripped of their license and forced to find another line of work, like making pizzas or shyster politics. read more

I did my driveway thru them and they changed the pitch of driveway which resulted into accumlation of water in my driveway and the going into my neigbor's property. I was a little concerned when I read some of the reviews but I had a great experience. I called for an estimate to seal coat the parking lot of my office building, the owner came out and provided an written estimate in 24 hours. The work was done within 2 weeks and it looked great. Worst customer service I've ever seen. My husband and I have been desperately trying to get in touch with them and move forward with the driveway job we need done but apparently, this guy doesn't want our money (our job is a pretty big one too). We scheduled an estimate and waited on them only to find out they came and just left the estimate in the mailbox. Who on earth would do an estimate of a project without even going over WHAT needs to be done first? So we must've called 8-10 times trying to reschedule so we can get the correct amount of square footage quoted but the receptionist keeps taking our information down and promises the owner will call us back. Huh... how do I begin to express my frustration. My husband and I woke up this morning at 6:55 am for our supposedly 7am appointment, for an estimate on our driveway. 7:40 or so- no one showed up. I called the company before 8am to inform them of this, and was told they didn't understand why no one showed up and the lady who answered stated she would check on it and call me back. It's 2:12pm and I still haven't heard from them. After reading previous reviews, I'm grateful to yelp and the reviewers for saving me from spending my hard earned money. As a business owner myself I would NEVER say this to any customer new or old no matter what! Just so everyone knows frank had an appointment to come see my driveway at 7am ( a time he choose) I said ok but I must leave for work no later than 715. Come 715 in pulling out and he pulls up and gets all mad because I had to leave. Trust me if its this difficult to get an estimate from a guy who says fuck to customers than imagine what it would be like to actually go through an entire job with this guy. We hired A. Macchione Brothers, Inc. to replace our old driveway with a new asphalt one. We got off to a rough start because they kept us guessing when they would come until the day before they ripped up the old driveway and then later put in the new one. However, the outcome was great. They did a great job. The driveway looks great and the crew was great to work with. There was a pile of dirt at the side of the finished driveway which they were supposed to have distributed along one side of the driveway which was higher than the grass. I realized that they had not done this after I had already paid Matt. He said he would come back to do that part, which he did. He is a man of his word which I appreciate. If you don't mind waiting and being in suspense a little, I would highly recommend A. Macchione Brothers, Inc.. They do great work and they keep their word. read more

I so regret hiring this company to do my driveway. We are in the middle of the job right now, waiting 2 weeks for the surface to settle. I am thinking of canceling the job and the contract because the job they are doing does not match the specifications in the contract, and they refuse to respond to my complaints .They ripped out the asphalt from my old driveway and carelessly removed a lot of the existing gravel during the rip out. The contract says the new driveway will " consist of 4-6 inches of stone and 2- 1/2 inches of asphalt. To meet that specification they would have to excavate out to a depth of 6 inches. But they didn't excavate and insist my existing stone layer is 6 inches deep, therefore they can use the existing surface. Why am I paying for a layer of 4-6 inches of stone if they are using my existing stone layer? I measured the depth of my existing stones, and it is only 2-3 inches deep. Furthermore, they is only room on top of that for about 1-1/2 inches of asphalt and not 2-1/2 inches as the contract requires. I want out from this deal. No one from the company will address my concerns. That's the story so far. Grief and aggravation. A driveway unfinished and I must get out of this deal and look for another company to finish someone else's job. read more

Should have listened to the reviews here and not even call them!! My husband called and schedule a time for an estimate at 7am (their choice of the time). Since we have two kids, we had to pay extra to get beforecare. Turned out that the guy never showed up, didn't answered the phone, and wasted an hour of our time and money (beforecare for the kids). Very poor customer service. I had a driveway installed 3 years ago and now have multiple cracks (some very large) all over the driveway. They came back to look and agreed there the cracks are there, but refuse to fix the problem. Numerous attempts to get a return call or response of any kind just get ignored. read more
