We used chimney pros in the past for an insert in our fireplace. They did a good job. However, last season we had them inspect our free standing stove and fireplace at a new residence. They did not clean it or go on the roof to inspect it. They charged us over 200 and said it was fine. It wasn't. We had a new company come this year and did a thorough inspection and cleaning. Bait and switch!! Scam company. DO NOT USE. send um packing. I saw an ad for $99 chimney clean and inspection. When he got here he said it would cost $499 and another $150 for a chemical clean. NOPE, I want the $99 clean. Your fire place is to dirty. Yours needs a heavy cleaning , It has not been cleaned in at least 9 years. UMMMM NOT True, It has been cleaned. They then tried to charge me $69 inspection charge. NOPE!! Not paying it. I was never told about this and IF you clean the chimney for the advertised $99 I will pay you. Guess what..... Dodgy, that is how we would describe the service representative who came to our house. I initially called on a $99 per chimney offer ($125 usual). The lady on the phone stated that if it were really dirty, the cost for cleaning would be $239ea. When he came to our house, he provided a quote of $990 for the two. When my wife challenged with the $239ea max, he quickly lowered it to that price, asking for cash or check. She respectfully sent him on his way. read more

My boyfriend hired this company and they told him he could get a copper chimney cap and not aluminium. After the job was done and they were paid they never call him back. They were supposed to order the part he wanted and come back to put on but they don't return his calls almost a year later. Same story like the rest of the customers. Advertised for $125 and when they showed up they said is too dirty. Charged $350 for the "deep cleaning" and $149 for the chemical treatment of the buildup. Total plus tax cost $665. Definitely a rip off. We waited two weeks for our appointment to get an estimate for a chimney cap. The scheduled day of the appointment, we received a phone call to confirm their "technician" was a couple of hours away, then later that day they called to reschedule due to "his previous appointment took longer than expected, traffic etc..." The same scenario happened with our next scheduled appointment. The "dispatcher" said; "We're having technical difficulties with our phone system and the technician will be there at 3:30, not the scheduled 12:30. I called several times from 3:30 to 4:30, talking to three different people. Each person gave me a different ETA. When I asked (the last person I spoke with), she said ......, "Our technician has already gone home for the day." I told them; "Forget it, I don't want to do business with anyone that can't make the first appointment, especially after three different attempts!" THEN ... two days later they called to get our business by saying; "we received a blah...blah...blah from Angie's List website that you were interested in a chimney cap" I've NEVER visited Angie's List read more

I have a prefab chimney. When I first called I asked if they work on these types of systems, their answer was yes. I had them visit and check on a leak I was having. When they arrived first thing that was said to me was "we don't normally work on these types of fireplaces. If that was the case I would not have had them come to the house. I guess you yes the customer and get the visit complete to get jobs. After inspecting the issue they stated that "99.9%" of the issue is usually the chase covering. $1650 dollars later and 5 weeks of waiting, job was complete. Would you like to guess? Yep still leaking. The leak also was worse after they changed the cover. I called them and I told them I under stood that they did state it wasn't a guarantee that it would stop the leak. The issue is that it was getting worse. They sent a "supervisor" out to check the work. I received a call stating that everything they did is done right. He went on and sent me pics of the job after, never got pics before by the way. Also he included a pic that the siding of the house was slid down. In my opinion that was not like that to begin with, it's something that can easily been seen from the ground. He went on and said that it must have been the issue from the beginning. The gap in the siding was so wide if the initial man who came to see the cap didn't see that to begin with, that is an issue. He said it must be the flashing on the roof. Once again if it was the flashing wouldn't the initial guy have inspected that as well. Anyway I called a roofer, he said the flashing was not the issue. The chimney itself has some shingles half way up and there apparently is no ice shield and the shingle is not held down. I also called a company who actually works on prefab chimneys and they were wonderful. They were knowledgeable and honest in what my situation currently is. So to end this saga I would called these guys again. I would rather continue to call others and get someone else to do the work. read more

I called Chimney Pros for a routine cleaning. The tech who came out was good and knew his stuff, however, the company quoted ridiculous prices. Even after negotiating the price down, some very minor chimney repair and sealing cost us over $1500. The job took less than two hours. This is a way OVER PRICED outfit. Called for a chimney cleaning 1year ago and they said I needed a new Chimney Liner and Brick work done. $3200 for the Liner , Brick work not included. I called them back 9/2021 because of the good reviews and assumed it was a lot of work. Work was just ok. Pipe from oil burner to Chimney is pitched into the room, not into the chimney, they said that was ok? In and out is just over 1 hour and still $3200. Tried to have me pay cash or a personal check to save money. Very un-professional. Suggested I give a good tip. Would NOT recommend them without checking with several other options, they do not seem to trustworthy. read more

We had a quick appointment to simply have our chimney cleaned last week, and while the guys were friendly and cleaned the chimney and fireplace just fine, they did also try to scam us into thinking we needed additional work done ($1700+ price tag) which I responded with a thank you but called our trusted heating guy to check out. When checking the fireplace and furnace chimneys the guy showed concern in "seeing that the furnace chimney had cracked and deteriorating tiles" which could cause carbon monoxide to leak into the house. Our heating expert just came by and confirmed it looks just fine so no need for the additional work. I hired this company in November and I implore you to hire someone else. The technician who came to inspect and clean our fireplace, Troy, left a mess behind, and even after contacting them several times, I am shocked at the poor response from the company. I notified the technician immediately because he told me he was owner of the company. I let him know we found soot throughout the home and sent photos as evidence. The technician acknowledged that this was "not typical" and that he "did not know how it happened" but had no suggestion as to how to remedy the problem. He told me to "call my office." When I did, the office manager, Andi, argued with me, was not helpful and did nothing other than refer me to "Top Dog, a company we've used for these clean ups many times." This in itself should be a red flag for you! She said "we don't need to file a claim with insurance." I called the owner of the company, Top dog, and spoke with Andrew. He said his company does not specialize in soot cleanup; rather, they are carpet and upholstery cleaners. If you are not familiar with soot, it is a health hazard and can cause serious respiratory problems. In addition, it is invisible to the naked eye until you begin wiping surfaces, or, in our case, looking at the furnace air filter which was black from being coated with soot. The Chimney Pros failed to address the problem, and failed to acknowledge the urgency or threat to human health. I reached out to multiple professionals (Professional restoration companies, chimney sweep companies, the National Fireplace Institute and the Chimney Safety Institute of America) to learn more about what I was dealing with, and finally was forced to file a claim with my own insurance company. If you value your health, hire someone else. read more

The ABSOLUTE WORST customer service EVER!! They were scheduled to arrive at our house at 4:00pm, showed up 10 minutes late, ok, so no biggie - but when I asked them if they could wait 5 minutes til my husband got home (we have a young child and I am not comfortable with strangers in the house when I am home alone w/him), they told me "we are too busy to wait. If we leave, we can't come back; we are on a very tight schedule!". I was afraid we would have to wait another week for an appt. (just a yearly cleaning for the chimney/flue) so I let them in. I put my dog away in a room upstairs and when I got back downstairs (within 5 min. time) they had left........no explanation, no conversation, nothing. My husband called the company and was basically told " your fireplace insert was installed wrong, we can't service it, and.....here's the best part....."your wife was degrading my workers by yelling at them" - comical at best. DO NOT use them. I have heard nothing but bad things about them, but had used them anyway and had good experiences. Perhaps their management has changed hands or something, but both management and worker behavior was totally unacceptable. They didn't seem to know anything about customer service - they are in the SERVICE industry. Sadly for them, I live and work in a community where the houses almost ALL have fireplaces, and you KNOW I am going to tell EVERYONE what happened. read more
