Look no further. These are the ONLY totally honest chimney service I've ever seen. After 5 increasingly dishonest and insane estimates from other sweeps ($16,000 to line a 16 foot tall chimney?? Really????) I called George. He was booked solid but I had a feeling it would be worth the 3 month wait & boy was it!!! They sent an experienced estimator who was early, friendly, and thorough. He looked over everything inside and out. He literally laughed out loud when I told him the estimates I had received. There were NO pushy sales tactics- just a clear & honest estimate that was THOUSANDS less. I booked immediately. When the came out for the repair they not only solved my issues for a great price (I didn't need a liner- two caps & a crown + a shoulder fixed everything) they also touched up some small repairs I didn't even ask about because "it was the right thing to do". Class act. The work was perfect and looked great. Part 2 of how awesome they are came when they came for my scheduled cleaning. A different tech came & was again early! He checked the chimneys and said "sorry sir, I can't take your money. The chimneys don't need anything". Wow. They could've ripped me off for $250/stack but didn't. Why are they so honest? George Chimney "cleaned" our chimney four summers in a row. Then we had a chimney fire on a cold night in early spring. We use only seasoned wood that was many months old when we got it in August 2020. The fire chief said it looked like the top of the flue had not been cleaned. Here is the inspection report: * "After further inspection inside of chimney 8x13 flues some are cracked, completely toasted from the fire. * The damper is no longer working due to fire (the cap and damper were destroyed). * This chimney had so much creosote seems like previous company never cleaned the flues properly. * Fireplace now needs 10x6 stainless steel liner kit with new stainless steel damper kit. * Clean out all debris as much as possible before installment of liner. * The fireplace cover screen is also damaged from the fire dept putting the fire out. $: 7,850.00 Total Cost of Work read more

Needing a chimney inspection for my HOA, I took to yelp to find someone. I had 4 names my HOA listed, plus 3 more companies I added (including George). I took into consideration: Number of reviews; Yelp rating; any negative reviews (user history of other negative reviews if any); pictures; websites; and web search of business name. I only contacted George and 2 other companies. I was most impressed by George. His intro video was most intriguing to me to try out his company. I also appreciated his honest and professional responses to the few customers who were not 100% satisfied. I can't say I was impressed by his competitors responses to negative reviews (which was a turn off for me). I know negative reviews are not always factual and sometimes emotionally triggered. My interaction with George via yelp was satisfactory. His responses were timely. I had quite a few questions. His quote was the most reasonable of the 3 I requested, even though that was not what was most important to me. This past Friday I was able to set up an inspection for today (Monday). Tech called a few min. before the end of the window time to let me know they were just finishing up their previous job in another town and would be coming right after. Upon arrival they were prepared, professional, responsive to my questions, and efficient. I suppose if I was to be picky I could frown that they weren't there by the end of the projected time frame but I realize it's not always easy estimating how long you will spend on each job or what traffic will be like from one location to the next. So, given that reality, I wasn't dissatisfied about my experience in any way at all. I may look into eventually converting into a gas fireplace. If I chose to do so I will be using George. If not, I will still recommend his company and call them up again in a few years for my next inspection, if I don't experience any other concerns before then. George's guys just finished up here. These guys are fantastic! I had another chimney guy clean our chimney last week - he was gruff, impolite, unprofessional, and didn't feel trustworthy. He said both our damper assemblies were broken and that it's important we get them fixed, quoting us about $1,200 for the work. I wanted a second opinion so I called George's guys over. Dan showed up this morning exactly at the beginning of the scheduled time window (calling 15 minutes prior to give us a heads up). They were in and out in half an hour, found that only one damper was slightly ajar - the other chimney was fine. He fixed it with just a little bit of adjusting, and did not charge us any more than the $125 inspection fee, and followed up by sending an email with other things he noticed with the chimney, their respective levels of urgency and cost. I am so glad that I got a second opinion and that I got it from these guys - I will only be calling these guys going forward for chimney issues! read more

We recently moved to Wayne. We purchased a short sale that needed some work so I was getting everything checked out including my chimneys. I call George and a few other guys based off of yelp reviews . George right away said hey the chimneys aren't bad and don't need a sweep but explained I might need a liner in our furnace chimney in the future. George didn't try to sell me anything and even passed on the easy "pay for a chimney sweep". The other two companies I contacted tried to sell me everything under the sun including new chimney caps (the one we had was a year old and one of the few things I had paperwork on from previous owner), a sweep, and a bunch of other trash. Fast forward a few months... We are trying to close some open permits from the previous owners and we find out our furnace chimney (which George mentioned) is being mandated to get a liner by the town inspector. We call George and he says he is surprised and says it really doesn't look that bad and offers to call the town for us. This guy called the town to try and explain the condition of the chimney instead of just charging us like any other chimney crook would have done!!! Let that sink in... really an incredibly honest guy. The stubborn town inspector stood his ground and forced us to get a chimney liner which are generally very expensive. Needless to say George earned our business and we went with him for the job. He gave a fair price, did an excellent job in just a couple of hours, and went with high quality materials. George is the best! I had a new boiler installed and found I was getting backdraft all the sudden. When I called him he was willing to come by and help me find out the issue the same day. The first company I had come look tried to tell me I needed a $4,000 new liner! George came and helped trouble shoot - only to find out the previous home owner had blocked the flue partially when they installed a new hot water heater. He helped fix this issue we found that I was still getting a backdraft. He continued to help me troubleshoot until we found the issue the backdraft stopped. They were awesome! Called on a Friday night with an emergency and they were there 8am the next morning! Explained the problem, needed a cleaning. PSE&G turned off gas because the chimney was not venting, the chimney was disintegrating. They came in, cleaned as much as they could but because the mortar had solidified they needed other equipment, sent another crew out within the hour, needed special equipment, came in the next morning and it was done! I called after two days, they came up with some bull story about how I wanted something different that what they could do. We used George last year to clean our fireplace. We were pleased with the service and decided to use them again this year. We understand that they are busy, and respect their policy that they don't answer the phone and instead respond to a message. However, they did call us back and make an appointment. They give you a 3-hour window of time in which they will come. Today was our appointment, and no one came! We never got a phone call from the company saying that they were running late, or that they were unfortunately not able to make it to us today for whatever reason. Also, there is no way to communicate with anyone to find out what happened. We didn't even bat an eye that they raised the price of the cleaning this year by $10, but now we are not happy with the customer service provided. Two years ago, my husband and I had them come and inspect a chimney for a house we were considering purchasing. Turns out the home was a dud but George wasn't. I knew that if I was going to purchase a home with a chimney again, I'd call him back. Second time was a charm and so was George! When we finally did find our home and were ready to move forward with the chimney (11 months later), George was happy to explain the old estimate all over again. I called this company to inspect and clean an old chimney in my house that had not been used in 5-7 years. However, no one from this company showed up or called to let me know the appointment was cancelled. When I made the appointment I was first offered a time and date that conflicted with my work schedule. I informed them that I would not be able to make that time because of a work conflict and asked for the first available appointment at 5pm. I was advised that my appointment was set for January 14, 2019 at 5pm and that the staff would call me in advance of showing up to the property. I left work early to be certain that I was at the property on time. However, I received no phone call to reschedule and no one showed up at the property. I called their office twice and left two voicemails because their hours are reported as being open until 6pm, yet I received no return call.
