I have used Josh and Kittrell for almost 5 years. I was referred to him when one of my AC units failed in 2019. He came out and immediately diagnosed problem. We had a 20 year old unit that failed. He quoted us a new unit and within 48 hours it was installed. Not only was it timely and cost competitiv, the job was as promised and the install was picture perfect! Now fast forward to yesterday. I called Josh and said I had an inspection/tuneup by one of the other guys: Think 'P..... & S....' The tech was great, on time and went thru a checklist. One of my units was struggling a bit. He did not have R22 on the truck and could not add Freon. The rest of the unit was good and he left. Saturday a.m. I get a summary of my units and a quote for $5546.00 to add Freon and do a leak test. I called Josh and he sent Christian out to check my unit and in tandem was pricing a new unit. Christian cleaned the unit in question and added just a pound or so of freon. Total cost of service? $465.00!!! Moral of the story? Stick with Josh and don't get fooled by 'free' and 'we are like family.' Call Josh and ask for Christian. These guys are the best and most of all: HONEST AND ETHICAL! read more

It's 1/13/25 if Josh kittrell does not pay me the $250.00 he owes me today this will happen. I will have the city of Flagstaff along with the Flagstaff fire department at that house to look at a non permitted install and to check for carbon monoxide on the furnace in the crawl space. You are aware that although was broken in the flu going up the chase which can cause carbon monoxide leakage into the house where the people have children. I have already contacted and left a message for the city of Flagstaff and I'm waiting for them to call me back. I have spoke with numerous HVAC companies of Flagstaff and they also the same thing it will not end well for you. As soon as I am paid I will remove every review if not it will stay up and we will proceed with the following. One last thing I will also have them look at the radon barrier that was damaged by your employees who used PVC glue and duct tape to fix the damage I did on your non-premitted install. read more

My husband and I have known Josh since 2016 when our AC broke in our condo and I needed a new one that week as I had many people coming over for my husbands surprise graduation party. He saved me 3k on a new unit compared to a larger company and was able to get it done the same week before the party. I've referred him ever since then, and he even referred us to a buddy of his that's a plumber that we ended up using as well. Thank god I kept his number cause fast forward to today our AC at our house stopped blowing cold. Mind you this wasn't an AC Josh's team installed. He remembered me first of all, and responded immediately and had one of his techs out here within 1.5 hours ON A SUNDAY guys. I was absolutely expecting him to say he could get someone out here the next day. His tech comes out and turns out our blower fell over, which ended up being a pretty quick repair luckily. His tech Chris was very knowledgeable and was happy to talk to my husband about all his questions and the whole setup. Payment was easy through Zelle. Josh is a good guy and is always happy to help and I love that he's a 3 man team as you get true quality service. I'll continue to spread Josh's name ever chance I get. read more

We too work with customers in the service industry and don't leave negative reviews lightly. We were looking for a reliable HVAC company for several rentals we own and operate for the condominium complex in which they are located, for which we also run the community forum. We have dealt with many HVAC and other contractors over the years but have never had such an appalling experience like this before, all documented in writing. In the last ten days we used Kittrell Services a few times on two different rentals to add freon, and clear condensation lines and leakage. The first his apprentice Chris tended to seemed to be resolved but he cleared the second unit's line without bothering to open the hatch to even look at the air handler. If he had he would have seen that the issue was that the air handler drain pan became tilted away from the drain opening, not due to a line clog. We had to call him back the next day to identify the issue and yet again the next week to fix it. Again as with the first time, we paid him immediately on the spot with a bank transfer, totaling now about $1,600. It was still leaking and we had to call him back to find a cracked PVC elbow he installed, then back again due to a new sputtering sound that began immediately after he finished. We pointed it out but he dismissed is as "just the motor", so the next week Josh came out himself to resolve it. Later that day as luck would have it we had AC failure (intense heat, high demand = breakdowns) in a third rental under a monthly warranty service who we had to consult first before yet another costly repair. Guests were sweltering there for 24 hours without AC in triple digit heat. Josh said he could send Chris back out the next day and as soon as we got confirmation from our warranty company authorizing a TPR (third party repair) we contacted Josh who sent Chris out around 10 AM. He arrived and began to assess the issue (low freon/frozen coils). When he went back to his truck to get his ladder we thanked him for coming and as instructed we simply asked that if it was over a given high dollar amount to call our warranty company with the final total. He happily agreed and we alerted the guests that finally relief was on the way after a long night without AC (was almost 90º in there). We left to attend to other business and just minutes later out of the blue we got an alarming and unprofessionally hostile text from Josh (with whom we had had numerous fine discussions via phone and text in the past weeks) exclaiming that we "lost him as a contractor" and he "would not be completing the job" and ordered Chris to drop everything at once and leave our guests stranded again no AC. In a bombastic huff without even allowing us the courtesy to respond he childishly texted "do not call or text us ever again!". We were astonished and dumbfounded at Josh's Jekyll/Hyde turn and volatile tantrum upon Chris informing him of our request to simply relay the final cost to our warranty company so we could be reimbursed after we paid him. Again, this was in no way to determine if THEY would get paid but just protocol for US to be reimbursed afterward, which we had already explained. Sadly, Josh was neither professional nor adult enough to consult us for clarity nor to address any concerns which would have easily cleared up any confusion, but instead flew off the handle in a fit of rage leaving our guests stranded without AC. We simply cannot trust someone this unprofessional, volatile and unpredictable again with such a vital service. As a 5-star business in operation for over 18 years we would never treat our customers this way. Josh Kittrell lost all the year-round business we would have brought him from our many rentals and network of guests and clients here. Beware of any small private contractor like Kittrell who will so hastily and unprofessionally abandon the job and flee without discussion -- even if you are a previous, courteous customer in good standing. read more

Sadly I had to give Josh Kittrell one star on Yelp but he doesn't deserve that. Josh came out to repair a MiniSplit in my garage. He was there to make sure the line set was sealed because the previous installer did not get the system leak free. Josh supposedly fixed the leaks only to find the leak right outside on the condenser at a couple month down the road I lost of freon. During Josh's previous visit where my line set leaks were not fixed Josh stuck his temp gauge into my fan blower wheel and destroyed it. Josh turned that claim in on warranty with Pioneer getting the parts for free then returned at a later date to repair the blower wheel. Upon fixing the blower wheel Josh broke the condensate tray and my AC head has been dripping condensate down the wall since. (see the attached pictures) When I asked Josh to come back and fix his work he said he's do it for the cost of flex joints $125/each X 2 and his labor $650. For something that should have been leak free when he left. This had nothing to do with the condensate tray because at the time I had no idea that Josh had covered up the issue. Last but not least. I had a conversation with Josh in regard to this repair and making it right. He said "If was honest and fixed the broken blower wheel for free" - I was standing right behind him when he stuck his temp gauge into the blower wheel shattering it. LOL - So, if I wasn't there behind him when it happened would that mean he would've charged me? WOW - Then he broke the condensate try putting the new blower wheel back in. Great tech - SEE THE PICS - You can see where he tried to cover his tracks with the Black Sealant stuffed into the square hole. I tried to reason with Josh but it seams that when Josh actually has to back up his work he would rather run from the customer and block them from contact. This guy has absolutely no business being in the HVAC repair business. He is a fly by night operation. He will not only break your AC unit but then charge you on top of it to fix it. To this day Josh refuses to take ownership for his bad work. NO WARRANTY at all with Kittrell Services - Do not use this guy because he will not stand behind his work. Moving onto the Better Business Bureau for my next review. read more

I had been a loyal customer of this company for about 2 years (I just moved to AZ) and had recommended this business to many (to my friends and I run a very large local FB group). Recently, I had my spring service and upon using my AC for the first time of the season a couple of weeks after my bi-annual maintenance, my AC was not working. The guy came out, couldn't figure it out, then determined it was the pressure valve and it leaked all my refrigerant. The owner, Josh, admitted this should've been addressed and fixed at my maintenance so gave me a discount on refilling my refrigerant. Well, about 1.5 months later and my AC is not cooling again, and on a weekend. Josh said to replace my filter because it was likely that, which was only 1.5 months old mind you.I didn't have much confidence that this was the fix so I asked him to schedule me anyway. I was scheduled for Monday at 8 am. It was currently Saturday evening and already 86 in my house so I called someone else referred to me by a friend. They came out and determined that I had another leak at the coil and my refrigerant was steadily leaking out. They said that was likely the cause of the leak in the first place because the unit I have is known for this issue (I researched this too to confirm from various sources). I texted Josh saying hey I got a second opinion and I'm not happy because we're at square 1 and I paid all of this money for refrigerant when they didn't even fix the issue. Josh responded and essentially asked what I expect him to do, that I was disloyal for getting a second opinion, he wouldn't be coming out Monday, then BLOCKED me. I wasn't going to leave a review but I see he's blocked others as a means to remove himself from a negative situation after seemingly gaslighting his previous loyal customers. DO NOT use this company. They're nice until something goes wrong and they don't want to deal with it. read more

Too bad I have to give even one star. I had a good working relationship over the years with Josh, until...... Our AC was non-stop blowing and the house wasn't cooling down. I called Josh and he came out. He repaired the problem and charged me $625 (ouch!) only to have it break again THREE hours later. I texted him. He sent Christian out the next morning. Christian got it going for less than an hour when it started blowing hot air again. I texted Josh. He said we needed a new unit. We agreed on a 5 ton 16.2 Seer Trane. I paid him the entire amount on my credit cards and set up installation. Three days before the install, he called me and said he could not get the unit we paid for and that no company had this particular model, but that he could install a less efficient model for $1200 cheaper. We said that we didn't want what he was selling and to wait and do nothing until we call him back. We immediately got on the phone and found exactly what we were looking for from a reputable company. I sent a text to Josh telling him that we were sorry but we needed to cancel the job. At first he seemed nice and said he understood. BUT, instead of refunding me the entire amount, he charged me a 3% fee, which came to $367! Now we have paid him a total of $992 without any goods or service promised. Nothing was in writing and we didn't sign anything at all. When I questioned Josh about the charges he turned into a completely different, nasty person. I thought he must be bi-polar! He threatened to call the police on me and tell them that I had stolen property of his, (he brought a portable unit over to help us until he could install the unit). He could've come over and got the unit whenever he wanted, but he was a coward and he called the police department. Last night they knocked on my door and Josh was with them. I told the officers that I had no problem with him coming and getting the portable unit, and that he wasted their time. They were very nice and said they understood. I see that another one-star reviewer referred to Josh as a Jeckyll and Hyde type who is unprofessional, volatile and unpredictable, and she is right on! This guy will turn on you in a heartbeat. (Wonder what he's like at home). I am disputing the credit card charges and heading to small claims court. Do not trust this person! He is very nasty. I have let my huge family know about this so he won't be getting any of our business ever again. BBB review is next. read more

I made an appointment for a tune-up based on their advertisement. They didn't show-up for their scheduled time. When I called to ask why they were late they mentioned one of their employees was in a traffic accident (I can forgive this), but that my job was pushed-back for more important work.
