We too work with customers in the service industry and don't leave negative reviews lightly. We were looking for a reliable HVAC company for several rentals we own and operate for the condominium complex in which they are located, for which we also run the community forum. We have dealt with many HVAC and other contractors over the years but have never had such an appalling experience like this before, all documented in writing. In the last ten days we used Kittrell Services a few times on two different rentals to add freon, and clear condensation lines and leakage. The first his apprentice Chris tended to seemed to be resolved but he cleared the second unit's line without bothering to open the hatch to even look at the air handler. If he had he would have seen that the issue was that the air handler drain pan became tilted away from the drain opening, not due to a line clog. We had to call him back the next day to identify the issue and yet again the next week to fix it. Again as with the first time, we paid him immediately on the spot with a bank transfer, totaling now about $1,600. It was still leaking and we had to call him back to find a cracked PVC elbow he installed, then back again due to a new sputtering sound that began immediately after he finished. We pointed it out but he dismissed is as "just the motor", so the next week Josh came out himself to resolve it. Later that day as luck would have it we had AC failure (intense heat, high demand = breakdowns) in a third rental under a monthly warranty service who we had to consult first before yet another costly repair. Guests were sweltering there for 24 hours without AC in triple digit heat. Josh said he could send Chris back out the next day and as soon as we got confirmation from our warranty company authorizing a TPR (third party repair) we contacted Josh who sent Chris out around 10 AM. He arrived and began to assess the issue (low freon/frozen coils). When he went back to his truck to get his ladder we thanked him for coming and as instructed we simply asked that if it was over a given high dollar amount to call our warranty company with the final total. He happily agreed and we alerted the guests that finally relief was on the way after a long night without AC (was almost 90º in there). We left to attend to other business and just minutes later out of the blue we got an alarming and unprofessionally hostile text from Josh (with whom we had had numerous fine discussions via phone and text in the past weeks) exclaiming that we "lost him as a contractor" and he "would not be completing the job" and ordered Chris to drop everything at once and leave our guests stranded again no AC. In a bombastic huff without even allowing us the courtesy to respond he childishly texted "do not call or text us ever again!". We were astonished and dumbfounded at Josh's Jekyll/Hyde turn and volatile tantrum upon Chris informing him of our request to simply relay the final cost to our warranty company so we could be reimbursed after we paid him. Again, this was in no way to determine if THEY would get paid but just protocol for US to be reimbursed afterward, which we had already explained. Sadly, Josh was neither professional nor adult enough to consult us for clarity nor to address any concerns which would have easily cleared up any confusion, but instead flew off the handle in a fit of rage leaving our guests stranded without AC. We simply cannot trust someone this unprofessional, volatile and unpredictable again with such a vital service. As a 5-star business in operation for over 18 years we would never treat our customers this way. Josh Kittrell lost all the year-round business we would have brought him from our many rentals and network of guests and clients here. Beware of any small private contractor like Kittrell who will so hastily and unprofessionally abandon the job and flee without discussion -- even if you are a previous, courteous customer in good standing.

Josh, took my call on a weekend and had a tech out here to help our 27-year-old system keep running for a few days until they could get a new unit organized for install. His team was courteous, efficient, very thorough, helpful in getting warranties set up and applications filed for rebates etc, and always arrived 10 minutes early! We have worked with a number of subs this past year doing renovations to our home, Kittrell Services has been by far our best experience! You are our first call going forward! Highly recommend.

Sadly I had to give Josh Kittrell one star on Yelp but he doesn't deserve that. Josh came out to repair a MiniSplit in my garage. He was there to make sure the line set was sealed because the previous installer did not get the system leak free. Josh supposedly fixed the leaks only to find the leak right outside on the condenser at a couple month down the road I lost of freon. During Josh's previous visit where my line set leaks were not fixed Josh stuck his temp gauge into my fan blower wheel and destroyed it. Josh turned that claim in on warranty with Pioneer getting the parts for free then returned at a later date to repair the blower wheel. Upon fixing the blower wheel Josh broke the condensate tray and my AC head has been dripping condensate down the wall since. (see the attached pictures) When I asked Josh to come back and fix his work he said he's do it for the cost of flex joints $125/each X 2 and his labor $650. For something that should have been leak free when he left. This had nothing to do with the condensate tray because at the time I had no idea that Josh had covered up the issue. Last but not least. I had a conversation with Josh in regard to this repair and making it right. He said "If was honest and fixed the broken blower wheel for free" - I was standing right behind him when he stuck his temp gauge into the blower wheel shattering it. LOL - So, if I wasn't there behind him when it happened would that mean he would've charged me? WOW - Then he broke the condensate try putting the new blower wheel back in. Great tech - SEE THE PICS - You can see where he tried to cover his tracks with the Black Sealant stuffed into the square hole. I tried to reason with Josh but it seams that when Josh actually has to back up his work he would rather run from the customer and block them from contact. This guy has absolutely no business being in the HVAC repair business. He is a fly by night operation. He will not only break your AC unit but then charge you on top of it to fix it. To this day Josh refuses to take ownership for his bad work. NO WARRANTY at all with Kittrell Services - Do not use this guy because he will not stand behind his work. Moving onto the Better Business Bureau for my next review.

Thank you Kittrell services! I needed my AC maintenance done and they came out to do an amazing job. Very professional and honest! Checked out the entire unit and cleaned/serviced what needed to be done. I had debris in and all around my unit, they made everything look brand new! . They did preventive maintenance to make sure my AC will last longer. They are highly skilled, reliable, on time, cleaned up the unit and everything around it! I'll be using Josh and his team for as long as I have an AC!

AC failed over the weekend. We have a home warranty however it did not cover much of anything. Dreaded calling around the valley for an HVAC contractor. So many subpar outfits, it caused me some distress. Reached out to a friend who referred me to Kittrell and Josh. Much to my surprise, they had 5 stars: no one has 5 stars anymore. Spoke to him on Monday and explained my situation. He said they are installation 'artists.' We agreed on a unit and price and they showed up today (Thursday) at 7 am. Josh, Ryan, and Ivan are true artists and not only was it a perfect installation, they sat with me to register my two units. Can't say enough about these guys. They are not always the least expensive but they are the best at their craft. Thanks guys!!!!

    Perfect job!

Dukes bought Suretemp, who installed the 4 ton Trane heat pump for my upstairs. Dukes installed my Mitsubishi mini split 1 ton workshop heat pump. Dukes quoted me a Lennox 4 ton unit for my downstairs. I prefer Trane, but the price difference was not worth it. The Lennox price was less than I expected. Turned out the Lennox air handler would not fit in the appropriate space? A Trane would, so they sold me the more expensive Trane unit for the same price! Who does that? --- I would have agreed to a sensible increase in price? --- But NO! They did it FOR THE SAME PRICE? I'll wager they lost money on this deal, but they still did a thorough and professional installation. These guys walk on water in my world. I will NEVER call anybody else for A/C work. Never. Duke's rocks.

Never ever use this crooked company! I initially decided in Dukes of Air in May 2016 after our…read morecondo air unit bit the dust during a hot memorial weekend and the only online venue back then that was avail was Yelp- no Nextdoor, no Reddit... even though this company was bought out- I'm sure several of the original techs still are there doing the same crappy work-- see photos! I had them come out YEAR after YEAR and each time the tech would complain about what the last did. Aside from making a disgusting mess with all of the black tar over my closet room, the front and back concrete patio- they did a Jerry Rig Each and every time! And they stripped the screws and bolts badly. This hvac co. came out for biannual maintenance check -- which obviously doesn't include removal and cleaning of blower wheel and housing, nor does it include cleaning out the water outflow drainage tube that collects foliage debris; which then cause water backup prompting another service call. Btw. I promptly dumped the monthly service fee to get two "system checks" a year because it seems like once they find something- it's due to the last years of other techs doing absolutely nothing! They're all young and lazy looking to make a quick buck and likely forced by the corporate man to sell sell service repair upsell!! I'm not looking over their shoulder step by step and asking what are you doing, what does this mean? But I will for sure moving forward!! I keep my air at 77 and not lower, so there's not a huge stress. They noted a slow leak last February and suggested a leak test. I didn't do it at the time since he said it was slow. Two guys come out, in their separate top of the line Mercedes vehicles, and tell me I need my coil replaced; which is covered under warranty and scared me into schedule replacement for refrigeration leak and coil replacement along with the blower wheel cleaned, because, as the tech said look at what your breathing in (photo). No I am not - that's why there's a filter used inside, but still-well my bi yearly maintenance should include that cleaning!! And why wasn't this brought to my attention in the previous years??!Lazy arses. Since the coil is covered under warranty I was quoted 4 hours labor, coils replacement and fan cleaned and refrigerant at $$$2400!! The next company I used --Larson, a certified Trane dealer- said No leak!! Don't use them either, a grand less as they said no coil leak! But $1550 for refrigerant you can get on FB for free mixed with the new stuff at $15 a lbs and you mark up it up! I'm telling you these dumb techs don't know squat. Then how the heck did refrigerant leak in an enclosed system?? Hey Dukes if Air-/IF the coil is covered under warranty then why am I being charged for it?? This is with my gold member discount since they have serviced my unit exclusively since day one. If it is a slow leak why would the coil need to be replaced? The guy last Feb said it could wait until next year, but the guys today said that it could cause my compressor to blow! Yet my neighbors have their original unit from 30 yrs ago still working?? And-- it was very obvious that they both had to return to the vehicle to come up with a price each time. It was obvious one lead sales guy was teaching a newer guy how to reel the money in for repairs to be done as a quick fix for a couple grand-NOT getting to the root cause. 1) Bad recommendation to use Trane 2) Crap duct work done from day one 3) Crooked, Dumb or Lazy techs thereafter Lastly, the 5 stars are from friends and family members of the hvac techs and owners- it's ALL BS!! And use ai to do your homework and get at least 7 quotes! Find an individual or small business and let these big companies rip off Richie poos!

As is typical in life, my AC went out at the beginning of June just as summer was kicking in…read more Having not planned for a sudden unit replacement, I did quite a bit of research for my new AC. I made lots of calls to local vendors and was either given some pretty hefty estimates or faced installation delays. However, when I called Sun Valley, the dispatcher mentioned their lead tech was in my area and could see if he could stop by to check out my existing unit to see if any repairs could be done. I still wanted to do my research but figured it couldn't hurt to have someone take a look. A few hours later, Frank stopped by to check out my antique AC unit. I'm pretty sure that thing was from the 70s! Frank hopped up on the roof and did an assessment. He was able to finagle it a bit to get it running a bit better, and he even offered to have me come up and showed me what was wrong with the unit and ultimately why it was more cost-effective to replace rather than keep bandaging this old thing up. I asked him to send me over a quote for a replacement, and I would get back to him after I wrapped up the last bit of research I had. On his way out, he even grabbed a treat from his truck to give to my old pup, which was a nice customer service touch! Fast forward to the end of the week: I'd completed my research, and Sun Valley was not only the most competitive in terms of cost, but they were also able to get me on the schedule sooner than most of the other companies I called. I called back to Sun Valley and set up a time for the new unit replacement. Frank came back to help with the install and even programmed a new Nest thermostat that I got from SRP! Again, my pup was well taken care of with some treats. It's always tough working with techs because not knowing the jargon can be overwhelming and a bit intimidating. Frank broke things down in layman's terms so that I understood everything that was going on and he even walked me through the steps needed to register my new Trane warranty. The house is crisp and cool ahead of summer and I couldn't be happier with my experience. 10/10 would recommend using Sun Valley again, I've already recommended Frank to my girlfriends mom who had her unit go out on a Friday night and he was out there that night getting her taken care of, the man doesnt sleep! He must take naps in his customers attics or something
