Authentic Vietnamese mom and pop shop with friendly staff. Ordered the bbq pork sandwich and it was packed with protein (70%), pate, carrots and I went light on the mayo. They even gave me jalapeños which I loved and didn't have to ask for. When the sandwich was delivered to my table a bottle of sirarcha was provided too and I knew it would be legit. The pork was well flavored and the bread was light and crispy. The sandwich was balanced well & I didn't even need the hot sauce though I did add a little. A few tables inside and a counter area too. Would def be back if I'm in the area.
Food is prepared fresh and sooo delicious! Everyone is so friendly and helpful re dietary restrictions. It's a sunny and bright spot with limited window seating. Love it and will be back!
This restaurant was heartwarming. You can tell they make their sandwiches with love. I loved the handwritten menu. I ordered the number one combination banh mi. You could smell the aroma of fresh baguettes in the air. The sandwich was stacked with layers. Great presentation and I'm glad they had sriracha as well. I hear the mayo bread is a must try as well, will have to order it next. Banh mi great to eat inside or take to the beach. Kitten & Pinky is a Pacifica gem .
A great place to drop by for quick sandwiches to picnic! Ordering was fast and simple-I called in our order including special instructions/preferences and told it will take 15 minutes. Pick up was efficient, and seamless. Bathroom was small but kept clean, and we were off, ready to munch on lunch when got to the beach. Loved our sandwiches! Medium-sized crunchy fresh bread shell with generous packed flavorful ingredients, the creamiest pate to complement the veggies and meat and bring the whole sandwich together. Ours was the pork and the chicken, and we would order both again.
For a fast and casual banh mi for a reasonable price, Kitten and Pinky delivers. There are no kittens though. My friend and I loved our #5 BBQ pork sandwich for $8.99. The bread tasted fresh and crispy. The pork was juicy. Definitely coming back to support this business.
Stopped for a Vietnamese coffee here in Pacifica and left with some Mayonnaise bread and combo sandwiches (Pate, Pork, cucumber. Cilantro) . Yum! Nice little place super fast service! We are taking these sandwiches to go but they look delicious!
I got a pickup order, so my review will be based on food. I only ordered the bbq pork rice plate to go. The food tasted home cooked, and pretty decent. I'd like to return to try their pho on one of these weekends.
A cute, small spot walking distance from the beach! The staff are welcoming and made our sandwiches very quick. The restaurant has some inside tables, but we picked up a few sandwiches and ate them by the water. The sandwich is reasonably priced and large portion, no skimping on the meat. The bread and toppings were fresh and good ratio to the amount of meat.
This little family-owned spot in Pacifica is a great lunch and dinner restaurant serving up classic Vietnamese-inspired sandwiches. We grabbed dinner to-go and ate it back at our rental house. We ordered the BBQ Pork sando, the tofu sando, the veggie spring rolls, and the chicken over rice. After ordering, the food took about 15 minutes and came to around $50. Tipping is optional. While I thought everything was tasty, nothing was amazing. The flavors were there, but not all of the vegetables were fresh, and some tasted like they had been pre-prepared hours earlier. The spring rolls were wrapped in plastic wrap, which tells me they were certainly made long before ordering. The pork seemed a bit tough and dried out, same for the chicken. Not bad, but could be better. I would go here again, knowing what to expect, but from what I hear, there are several other Vietnamese places in the area that could be worth trying. I still love supporting a great local business and would recommend this as a great stop on the main drag of Pacifica.
My husband found this restaurant because we wanted to find food before we went to the beach in Pacifica. The place was packed. We got there just a little after the start of lunchtime. Most people seem to be enjoying their vermicelli bowls. They looked really good and fresh and smell delicious. I felt like their prices were really reasonable, especially given the quality of the food. I got the mayonnaise bread which has shrimps, mayonnaise, cheese, and green onions. The bread almost tasted like Texas toast. It was really good. It was cheesy. It had a generous amount of shrimp. It almost tasted like shrimp salad as well. I had never had something like that before so it was nice to try something new. We also got the shrimp rolls with a side of peanut sauce and that was delicious. We asked them to leave the pork out. They individually wrapped each roll, which was so nice because usually the rolls get stuck together and torn, but that didn't happen this time. their peanut sauce was excellent. I think next time we would order a different peanut sauce. We ended up eating on the beach, but the inside of the restaurant was super cute and quaint and clean. It was so busy that there weren't any tables available, but we would love to dine in another time. I highly recommend this place. It's walking distance to the beach and has super fresh. Super tasty super authentic food. They even have a parking lot.
Excellent vegan-friendly spot a block from the beach in Pacifica. Atleast 3/16 items on the menu are vegetarian/vegan. Yay! I got the vegan tofu fresh rolls and they were bomb. It was a large portion with four in an order; enough for lunch and a snack. It came with peanut sauce, a soy based sauce, and sambal. See photo attached. They also had vegan eggrolls and a tofu bahn mi on the menu. The women who run the cafe are so sweet and friendly. Everything is made to order, super fresh, and prepared quickly. There is a table for two outside, which was great after the beach with our dog. Thank you!
I heard good things about the banh mi here and decided to forgo my go-to banh-mi spot, Dinosaurs, to try this. Sandwich was just okay. The grilled pork was a bit fatty and the bread was no semifreddis. Saving grace was the banh-mi was much cheaper, but I'd pay a bit more for Dinosaurs any day
They do *large* party orders too! We had a birthday party for my little guy and K&P supplied us with 20 banh mi order of different meats. Each banh mi was fully loaded as usual, individual packaged with napkins. Everyone at the party loved the banh mi, so much flavor. Support this local family gem, highly recommend!

If you're looking for a hole in a wall.. you found it! As other reviews mentioned, definitely feels like a mom and pop shop. You know it's authentic Vietnamese food when they're the ones making it! I ordered #1 which is the combo bánh mì and it was delicious. I do want to come back and try their bbq pork next time! 10/10 for great location too! A block away from the water, it's absolutely breathtaking. read more
I'm still trying to decipher the name Kitten and Pinky, but I ain't complainin' one bit. Prior to this place, there was another Vietnamese joint named Bunny on this exact location. Then prior to Bunny, the place was called Vy's. The one thing they all had in common was they served the same menu. Now, I don't know if they are all affiliated with one another, but it's too much of a coincidence. Just a few blocks from Pacifica Pier is this tiny strip mall. It's a good place to grab a quick bite if you're on the go and it's very inexpensive. Most of the food items are priced from $7 to $9 and the drinks are $1.75 to $4. Definitely easy on the wallet and the portions are generous. The Banh Mi is better than Dinosaurs on the other side of the freeway, and they pack a lot of it on their baguette. Lots of fresh carrots, cucumber, cilantro and just the right amount of jalapeno peppers to give it just the right amount of kick. And if you like fresh, the Shrimp Papaya Salad will definitely provide that for you. Good amount of shrimp and the papaya is so refreshing that you won't feel guilty finishing this up. Unless you didn't leave enough for the Wifey, then it will get you in trouble. The pork and spring rolls vermicelli was nothing to rave about as I found the pork a tad salty, but mixed together with the sauce and vermicelli is pretty decent enough for my taste buds. But for $9, you're getting a lot of food that's under ten bucks....and you're getting a side of salad with it. Can't argue with that. Good bang for your buck. read more

The chicken was so old, dry and smelly it was inedible. I threw away the chicken and ate the vegetable and noodles because I was so hungry. My husband ordered the beef and said the same thing. Very very disappointing. read more
Been here twice now and I'm a fan! Super cute mom and pop shop run by a sweet family. Their banh mi are jam-packed with meats and omg the bread is SO FRESH. Love that they also have pate. Good bread and pate make the banh mi! Super close to the beach so a perfect spot to grab a bite then enjoy the waves or a nearby hike. Will be back to try their vermicelli plates. read more
Call ahead to order. They are a great take out option during covid. The owners try hard to keep everyone safe and provide a good value, even if they had a slight (very slight) price increase, just happy they can still be open for takeout. They also added one small outside table. read more

I'm a huge bahn mi fan and I do come here when I'm in the area and craving one. Not the best tasting in the area (Dinosaurs down the street is much tastier, but too expensive {$13} imo for a Vietnamese sandwich, so going there is a splurge) Kitten and Pinky is a hole in the wall establishment that has decent food at a decent price. I got a Pork Bahn mi recently (about $9) and it was sloppily put together. The jalapeños pieces were huge (see pic.) They are never too busy so I don't see how it is hard to carefully chop veggies. No one wants to eat a mouthful of jalapeño with seeds. Flavor was 3/5. Viet iced coffee is super strong and sweet, just how I like it! Service is a 3- not horrible but not great either. read more
I've been craving bánh mì so I had to try out Kitten and Pinky after seeing so many reviews rave about this small family owned Vietnamese shop, especially with a name as good as that. It's located in a pretty good spot in Pacifica near Beach blvd. I came on a day with clear skies so it was a comfortable feeling just driving around the area. There is a parking lot in front of the store and plenty of street parking so it's not difficult to find a spot there. Inside there are three tables and seating by the window as well. The owners working there are super nice and made me feel welcomed. You can tell they care about their customers. I didn't have to wait long for my food either. I ordered take out in person and got the BBQ Pork Sandwich which costed $7.99 and the Papaya Shrimp Salad for $10.99. Overall the BBQ Pork Sandwich was pretty solid. I liked how generous they are with the juicy pork, cucumber, carrots, cilantro, and peppers. All of the ingredients inside the sandwich were fresh. The only downside for me personally was the bread itself which seemed a little tough and not as fresh as I was hoping. Maybe I came on a bad day because lots of people enjoy the bread, but I'd have to unfortunately dock off points for the bread today. I'm also not the biggest Papaya Salad fan in general because they typically aren't that flavorful in my experiences, but it was pretty tasty from here and all the vegetables to even the shrimp tasted very fresh. Their salads were a pleasant surprise. I always like supporting small mom and pop shops like Kitten and Pinky and overall my experience was good. There are a lot of gems in this area and I would definitely come back another time to try out other foods on their menu. read more

Such an awesome spot for banh mi sandwiches. Their menu is simple, but tasty and affordable compared to tower places. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming as well. So glad to see that more and more people are coming to eat here. read more

*Open for take-out only September 2020* Small family-run business a few blocks from the beach. Around noon on a Saturday, I called to order 4 Bánh Mì (Vietnamese sandwiches), and was told it will take half an hour. I ended up waiting for over 45 minutes for those sandwiches. The sandwich is packed with meat and pickled vegetables. The bread is fresh too. It's not the most authentic Bánh Mì I've had, but for $7 each, these sandwiches are good values. read more
Ordered a chicken banh mi and pork banh mi in addition to two vermicelli bowls. Yum, can't wait! Small parking lot with very courteous customer service. Food was fresh and tasty: big portions in compostable boxes. Fresh iceberg lettuce with carrots, sliced bbq pork, sliced egg rolls and mound of vermicelli. Accompanied by Vietnamese dressing and hot chili sauce for those who like things spicier. Kids enjoyed their banh mi filled with meat, jalapeños, sliced cucumbers and carrots. Thank you for a delicious meal; we're glad that we stopped by for lunch! Try it; it's definitely a worthwhile stop to enjoy a little time along the coast. read more

Cute little mom and pop shop Vietnamese restaurant! The food is on the pricier side, but good and the owners are so so sweet!! The food is made fresh and quickly. I ordered a bbq pork bahn mi and it was delicious! Much bigger than what I normally see at restaurants - the bread was toasted perfectly and fluffy and the crisp pickled veggies were the perfect balance to the slightly fatty bbq pork! Would get this again I also tried the Vietnamese jello & seaweed - was super thrown off by the "& seaweed part" but it was basically jsut Vietnamese coffee jello! Not too sweet and the seaweed is just what they use to get the crunchier jello texture. Would also get this again bc it's a light and refreshing dessert! The spring rolls were interesting, bc they used iceberg instead of romaine lettuce. The lettuce added a great crunch, but I felt like the iceberg lettuce watered down the flavor too much - I had to use a lot of peanut sauce. Probably wouldn't order this again They are apparently very famous for their cheesy garlic mayo shrimp toast, but I didn't get the chance to try it - I'll come back for it next time if I'm in the area :) read more

Needed a little snack after picking up some sweet treats at Mazzettis near by and this little mom and pop spot did not disappoint. Tasty fresh banh mi we got the Combo to spit and the bread was perfect with an order of the egg rolls are larger than expected and with hearty portion of filling. They have other Vietnamese dishes on the menu that would be worth a try.. read more

We wanted to try eating something different in Pacifica. We found Kitten and Pinky on yelp and decided to give them a try. The people here are really, really friendly and personable. We got a small variety of menu items. Chicken Banh Mi - 5 - perfect bread, lotsa veggies and plentiful on the chicken too! BBQ Pork over Rice - 4 - pork was very good but the rice was a bit dry. Mayonnaise Bread - 4 - this was something new for me. Shrimp, Cheese, Mayo and Green Onions on Bread. I had a large breakfast and just wanted something to hold me until dinner time. May as well try something different and this was different! It was tasty and very rich (heavy). One slice was enough for me but it was darned good as cold leftovers too. It's not something I would order for a meal but I would order it as an appetizer to share with others. Kitten and Pinky is a quirky little place with a quirkly little menu. We need more places like this! read more

This is me & my boyfriend's go to spot for vegan banh mi sandwiches! The tofu is so juicy & flavorful, the veggies are fresh, & overall everything tastes so well balanced! Plus the food is always ready super fast (about 10-15 minutes) which we really appreciate! The staff are also very kind & welcoming! One time we even asked if they had a vegan rice plate, since they have other meat-based rice plates, and although it wasn't on the menu they said they could create something for us! The vegan rice plate is a really good portion of rice, tofu, veggies, & sauce. I personally prefer the vegan banh mi a little more, but when I'm craving rice -- the vegan rice plate def hits the spot as well! 5 stars for the delicious food, the awesome price, & how accommodating the staff are! We love this local family owned small business! :) read more

Aww darn, I really really wanted to like this place. I was craving vermicelli noodles and wanted to give a new place a try. I wish I could bump up a star for the loving and friendly couple cooking the food (tbh, we're bumping up from 1 star because of the mom and pop couple) , but it wouldn't be fair to the other 3 star reviews I've written, so here it is..my first 2 star review and it pains me... but I have to be honest. The bbq chicken was bland; not charbroiled or juicy like I'm used to for a Vietnamese bbq chicken charbroiled dish. I had to put a lot of sauce on the chicken, and even added some soy sauce at home to try and get the flavors going. I asked the nice man if I should try the chicken or the pork, and he recommended the chicken so I was pretty bummed that it wasn't tasty. We also found a piece of hair in the dish and it just really put me out of the mood of eating lunch period. Yeah, I just couldn't eat it anymore and ended up looking for leftovers in the fridge :( Looks like I should've done more research before ordering. Maybe next time I'll try the banh mi or papaya salad, but the bbq chicken was not hitting it today. read more
I'd say this is a 3.5 but I can't round up to a 4-star. This place is a small mom and pop and friendliness/service was 5 stars. The man taking orders and bringing them out was so nice and would be one of my reasons for returning. We were here on a Sunday around noon to grab some sandwiches before heading over to eat them on the beach. There is a small convenient parking lot. The menu inside the restaurant is simple and makes it easy to order. - Mayonnaise bread - shrimp, mayonnaise, cheese, green onion. I ordered this because it was mentioned in so many reviews and I wanted to try it. I also don't like mayonnaise. So it's not surprising that I felt that this appropriately named "mayonnaise bread" had more mayo than I'd like. This didn't impact my choice of stars for this review, but don't be dumb like me and order something when you don't like the key ingredient. There was a good amount of shrimp in the mix, but I felt that the whole thing was a little salty. - Combo sandwich - pate, pork, pepper, cucumber, cilantro, mayonnaise. - BBQ pork sandwich - pork, cucumber, cilantro, pepper. I believe all the items we ordered were $7.50, and that is pretty standard. Both of the Vietnamese sandwiches were really just okay. While they were by no means bad, I'd say that most Vietnamese sandwiches I've had have been better and tastier. My husband and I were surprised at the very high ratings. We're rarely in Pacifica so I doubt we'll be back. read more
With a name like Kitten & Pinky, I thought I'd be walking into cool retro 50's cafe, however it's more like a simple small mom and pop storefront. The family who runs it are very kind, sweet and this is why i gave it a 4 star. The food itself was closer to 3 1/2 stars. Plentiful and presented well, but lacking in the wow taste factor for me. - BANH MI BBQ PORK and CHICKEN. Be prepared, these sandos are HUGE! Packed with meat & veggies. Both pork & chicken were pretty tender, not dry. The bread was a large soft roll nicely toasted, which I liked (not the usual small crunchy torpedo rolls). Wished the pickled carrots had a bit more zip to them, or a special spread to pick up flavor. Definitely filling, had leftovers! - BBQ CHICKEN VERMICELLI PLATE - big portion, the presentation looked great, but again something was missing in the flavor to bring it to an off the charts level. It was just ok for me. - THAI TEA WITH BOBA -warning! this is NOT the boba we love and know, small round sweet black chewy balls of yumminess. Instead, it's a house-made coffee jelly diced into small pieces, kinda crunchy. A bit disappointing, since I was craving real boba, but the Thai tea itself was good. - VIETNAMESE COFFEE w/condensed milk. WHOA!! This will wake you up big time!! This stuff is super STRONG, but in a weird way, I liked it! (Full transparency - I added some oatmilk to it!) Heading out to the beach or coming home after surfing, this would be a great place to pick up a hearty bahn mi to satisfy an appetite! read more
