This place is definitely a dive if I have ever seen one. I walk in and am immediately greeted like family and asked about how I have been since my last visit and how I am doing. The building probably hasn't changed a bit since it was built, but that is a minor detail. Once seated, it shouldn't take long to order, because a burger is the reason that I would come here. I have had some of their Korean food, and it wasn't bad. The egg burger is my favorite, with a gigantic side of Oriental Fries. They are battered broccoli, onions, potatoes, carrots, and who knows what else, all fried in a fairly sweet batter and presented in a basket. Definitely share a basket between at least 2 people if you aren't competition-hungry. 2 people can easily get out of here with a bill of less than $15. So delicious, slightly hard to find, and a nice drive away from downtown Waco and the Baylor area. read more

While other towns have been adulterating their burgers with gourmet cheeses, foie gras, and truffle oil, Waco has for many years now been cultivating a tradition of much less pretentious but no less interesting burgers. The tradition is so strong in fact that it spills over even into its ethnic cuisine, and one of Waco's fabled burgers comes from what is by all appearances a small dive of a Korean restaurant. As with much of Waco the windows are barred, and it looks closed. But on a Saturday at midday, the inside is bustling with life, even if it has the decor of a decades old Korean restaurant. On entry the kitchen is very much visible in a divey rather than trendy way. Half the menu is American, and half is 'Oriental.' The latter term has become antiquated and pejorative, but my guess is that the menu predates the present concern with political correctness. Most of the American menu is for show, because if you're clearly new and try to order something other than a burger you'll be swiftly but kindly corrected. The patty has a nice medium-sized thickness and moistness, and they serve the burger itself open to allow the subtraction of veggies and the addition of condiments. The burger is great, but the oriental fries, which predate the present popularity of uppity 'Asian fusion,' seem to generate most of their fame. Think of them as potatoes tempura, or if you're familiar, fries with Korean pancake influences. They even have little bits of other veggies mixed in, which hardly disguise the grease-laden nature of the affair, but they really are something else and unlike anything else you'll find in Waco. Being from the Bay Area, guess am too spoiled about Korean food, or any food for that matter. This place is just not that. Dissapointed with everything, bulgogi was far from being bulgog, piece of meat douced in soy sauce and fried in the pan and call it bulgogi, fried rice was like a hodge podge of left over rice and burger pieces from days prior, cold and, starchy. Oriental fries, oh my, potato sticks, tempura battered and tasteless, salad was blah and potato chicken broth soup, what the heck was that, someone in our party described it as someone's foot bath being brought to the table. This place was recommended by several of the locals and the reviews seemed reasonable. The food here was mediocre at best. The oriental fries were extremely greasy and the burger was not very flavorful. I don't know why this place is rated so high. I could care less about quantity and am really big on quality... and this place is not quality. They have large portions if that's something you are interested in. I followed instructions and got a lip locker and oriental fries with sweet tea on the side. Juiiiiicy. I'm really not a soldier with the double meat, I forced myself to finish it because I couldn't bear to trash it...and I was laid out for an hour. Looooove it. Been coming here since 1986! Maybe it's more nostalgia than anything else but I'll be coming here another 30 years for the burgers and oriental fries. Get the soy sauce as a side (not the stuff on the table) to dip the fries in. The burgers are simple and always fresh. Wow- very not impress whatsoever with this place! First of all, the location is no kidding hole in a wall but not a good kind of wall. Building is old but well maintained. Let's talk about food. After reading fellow Yelper! reviews, we decided to try their so-call famous oriental fries. Gross. Tasteless and since they put all kind of veggies in there in different sizes, some are overcooked and bitter. We asked the lady what mundo (I think this what it called) is. She said is a beef filling pastry. As good as it sounded, we ordered 3 pieces to try. OMG!!!! It was breaded frozen beef dumpling/potsticker!!!!! It was a joke! What is this? I've been to plenty of authentic Korean restaurant and never seen this. It was decent but the sauce was wayyyy too salty. As entrees, we ordered combination bulgogi and kalbi (but they spell it GALGBI, believe it or not). Let's talk about the bulgogi, it's faaaar from the original. The meat was thick while normally thinly sliced and it was lack of taste. Served with this fried rice that looked like leftover and almost tasted like one as well. Wow... I've been to bad Asian restaurants who served better fried rice. That crappy bulgogi plate was $8.99 what a waste! And even worse, kalbi, or I should say galgbi, plate was $9.99. Only came with 2 pieces of short ribs that were very greasy and not charred at all! I was glad I ordered it with steamed rice instead of crappy fried rice. Oh yeah, forgot to mentioned, entrees came with soup and salad. Both were horrible. Soup was hard to describe. Chicken broth based with some shredded potato. Tasteless and starchy. Gross. Salad was with thousand island dressing. What a great company for our Korean dishes. Overall... It was a waste of $34 we spent. I feel bad to be the hater of this place but what can I say... Absolutely one of the best hidden gems of Waco. The Kitok has one of the best burgers you'll ever have (get a Liplocker w/ cheese!). Pair a great burger with a side of their oriental fries, which are fantastic, and you have a near-perfect meal. The service here is usually good, the only downsides are that it can get busy quickly there which results in longer times waiting for food. The Kitok is in a very small, old building. but I think this adds to the charm. Overall, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit if you travel to or live in Waco! read more

We estimate that we could have rounded the drive through at Wendy's 134 times, or even driven to the nearest Waffle House (45 minutes away) and back in the time it took us to finally get our food. Went here with friends one day after they insisted how despite looking like a whole in the wall dive that they had good food. They did. They are mostly known for their hamburgers which are good. Went here when my girlfriend and I took a trip to Waco, and this is a hidden gem! It's Japanese inspired American food..already sets it apart. I had the burger with a friend egg, delicious! Also you have to get the Oriental Fries and their stir friend veggies are great too! Oddly enough this place deserves a spot on the top five burger places of Waco list. The Lip Locker Burger is damn tasty, though the patty isn't as thick as I generally like them. I got the hamburger patty, regular and oriental fries and they were awful. There was absolutely no seasoning on the patty and was inedible. The regular fries that came with that tasted like they freeze rot before they reheated them or something. The oriental fries were nothing great. This place used to be great when the first owners were here! The Vietnamese soldier and his Vietnamese wife that was brought over here made the restaurant and owned it first. They were very nice people, I wish everyone that went to Kitok meet them! But, now, it isn't as great anymore. I wish the new owners also took care of the place better. The fries are not as great as they were. Neither are the burgers, really. I have to be honest on my opinion. The food isn't good. read more

Kitok's is one of my favorite places to eat in Waco. I love their oriental fries here. I usually get the egg burger.
