Fantastic Uber delivery! I've never heard of this place, but like to try new things and enjoy Korean barbecue. I ordered a two meat entrée which came on top of rice. Garlic chicken, and some sort of beef. Extremely well packaged, very impressive, really! The food was extremely tasty, well seasoned, nice size portion, the garlic chicken was well flavored with garlic, but not overpowering, and the beef was tender. I will definitely order from this place again. Apparently they have locations all over the place and whoever put this entity together. The food was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you'd hope for from a Korean BBQ spot--but what really stood out was the service. The hotteok is a must have! Logan took care of us and did an outstanding job. Attentive without being overbearing, quick with refills, and made sure we had everything we needed the entire time. Waco finally has a Korean barbecue place! Very extensive menu. If you come on Saturday then it is an all day dinner menu. We really loved the thinly sliced briskets. They honey chicken was much better than the garlic chicken. Definitely come here with people you want to hang with and come with an appetite ! Servers quick and accurate. Made a reservation for party of 8 on a Wednesday. We were crammed into a high top grill no room for plates, food, drinks or seats. We were given 2 menus. Yes 2. Had no idea what to order and our server whispered the set up to us. Ok so $32 a person and we choose fe all these options. Great. Except there were 2 helping us eventually and neither could remember a thing! Would forget drink orders, food orders, asked for sweet and low 3 times. Got a beer compt because they forgot it but they forgot 2 more as well! Eventually asked for half our table to move to another table. Were given chip sticks and plastic forks. My 80 yo mother was not happy to eat with a plastic forks for $32 a piece! Service was just bad. But they got 18% automatically anyways. We brought our own bday Bundt cake and they wouldn't allow us to cut it ourselves because we weren't allowed to use a knife. Really?? Meantime they're still trying to serve us sushi rolls we ordered 30 min ago but we're full. So they took 20 minutes and butchered the cake and brought us all slices while they sang happy birthday. RECAP/TLDR A few things to note about my/our experience. -Refused to give children and pregnant woman to-go waters after THEY messed up our order and had us waiting an hour to fix it -Before even verifying, argued with me about not ordering food that I clearly ordered that was easily verified with a quick look at the receipt... -asked for napkins for 4 people and received 2 napkins. -no soap in restroom- disgusting. -$8 Green Milk tea tasted like plain milk. The moment we walked in we were not greeted by anyone at the host stand, but there was a few staff (I assumed) congregated at the bar. They weren't even crowded, maybe 3 tables in the whole restaurant at 2pm on a Sunday. When I was finally greeted, I let them know I was here to pickup a to-go order. I immediately could see that our whole order wasn't there, since I am the one that placed the order, but the young gentleman told me that it was everything in the order that he had gotten. I showed him my receipt and pointed out what was missing. He then said to give them 15 minutes to prepare. Okay no problem. I waited 20 minutes and sent my daughter in to ask for some water and napkins, but she returned to say it's not ready, they don't give water to-go and they gave her two napkins. I'm like what??? come again? Yes,I heard correctly, so I go back inside, again, have to go to the bar because there's nobody at the host stand. I am repeatedly told that they indeed don't give water for to-go orders. I'm visibly pregnant and have wasted over an hour at this place and they cannot even give the courtesy to give us water for all the back and forth we had to deal with. The manager or whoever it was that finally came to speak with me, finally agreed to give me water, but by then I was done. I walked out of that place knowing that I will never be back again. To the owner, I looked at reviews after leaving here, and my review is not the only one with the exact same complaints. FIX IT, please. I understand hiring younger staff can be a challenge, but it's your job to train them in appropriate customer service. I will never forget being super pregnant and thirsty and being refused water after waiting an hour for my food and being rationed on napkins only after being given zero. I won't even comment on the food because I may be biased at this point, but I know for a fact that the tea I ordered was not worth $8 when I could have poured my own glass of bland, plain milk at home. read more

The food was amazing but what peaked my interest most was the radish cleaner. The radish cleaner is used to remove the grime off the plate and make it so we could use it again without replacing . The service was great with regular checking and often water refills . The ambiance was excellent and I tried the gens in Carrollton I can for sure say I never seen this before a radish cleaner, corn cheese and amazing meat. So happy they're here!!! We came on a Friday night so it was very busy, had a little bit of a wait to be seated but that was expected. Food was great. Exactly what I remember from living in SoCal, if not better. Portions were perfect. Banchan was kind of lacking. No fishcake. No rice paper which I was really bummed about. Wish they had more vegetable options. A few of our sides/appetizers never made it out and our drinks took 15-20 minutes to arrive (water and one drink from the bar) The vent hoods did not appear to be working. Smoke was blowing on our faces the whole time. The app that they use to check your place in line doesn't work. The restaurant is not listed in Minitable. Our server Dylan was great and I appreciate being able to swipe my card at the table. We will be back for sure, but definitely when the crowd dies down. read more

It looks nothing like the picture and tastes awful. Thin, low marbeling, slimy, and absolutely disgusting. Went on a Sunday before dinner rush, and there were 2 or 3 tables occupied, pretty slow, one couple walked in second's prior, a person greeted them and said he would be right back, about 5 minutes later he comes back while wrapping an apron around his waist. They were seated then us. We were a group of 4 and we were given one menu; it took 10 minute and 3 people before we were given 2 additional menus. I am vegan, I asked what the vegan options were and one person said he would get me the nutritional menu, I never got one. I had rice. Took the kids out to Main Event Entertainment which so happens to be right next to Gen Korean BBQ House. We've heard a lot about this place from our friends in Dallas but never got to try it. Well me and the kids were hungry so we decided to give it a try. OMG! my kids were half off?!! ages 5-10 get to eat half off!! My server was really attentive, James did an amazing job taking care of me and my family. Never had to ask for anything because he brought it to me!! Come hungry as you won't be disappointed with the amount to choose from. Those with food allergies be advised they do have a list with each item that is okay and not okay for each type of allergy. They also have a vegetarian option. The only negative is the social aspect if you're a large party. Was there in a party of 10 - we were broken up into 3 tables in a row. Great tasting food, we didn't know that we would be cooking the meat and shrimp on the table grill. Waitress was great to lead us through the table cooking experience. I did not understand how we were there at 11:30 am and they were not serving lunch menu but the supper more expensive was available. GEN KBBQ in Waco is still new, so please take any criticism with a grain of salt as they are still learning. We waited about a month and a half to finally try it. There are definitely some kinks they need to work out, but overall, it's a great restaurant. After we were seated, it took about 10-15 minutes for our server to come to the table. We did come on a Friday night, and they were busy, but not on a waiting list busy. Once our server arrived, she was nice and professional. One thing I will say is that most KBBQ places give you small portions of meat, but here they do not. We went in with that mindset and ordered a few different options, thinking we would order more. We were amazed by the portion sizes; after our initial order, we were full and couldn't order more, even though we had planned to. The fully cooked items on the menu were just okay (i.e., the KFC was bland), and the same was true for some of the seasoned meats. However, others were amazing--looking at you, garlic chicken and beef bulgogi! We also ordered a soju lemonade. It was basically lemon flavor essence; we would have been better off saving the $3 and just getting the soju bottle itself. I do not mean any of this to be negative, but rather to highlight areas for improvement. We had a great time; the food was fantastic, and the ambiance was modern and sleek. If you've never been to a KBBQ place, just know that you cook most of the items yourself at the table. This can be a new concept, especially for Waco, but it's part of the experience. Also, if you have low-light vision issues, you may have trouble in the evening due to the dim lighting. But all in all, the prices are reasonable and the food is amazing. After all, they are still new, so be patient as they work out the kinks and improve. We will definitely come back. read more

We visited the newest Gen Korean BBQ House in Waco on a Wednesday around 3 PM. The restaurant was far from busy--only about 5 or 6 other tables were occupied--but the service was painfully slow and completely disorganized. We waited a long time just to be acknowledged, then even longer to get our server. He was clearly new and untrained, which might be understandable if there was some guidance or support from management--but there wasn't. Ordering new meats took 20+ minutes each time, and we had to repeatedly ask about them. At one point, our server actually took our refill order to another table before dropping ours off. Throughout the meal, we had to flag someone down every time we needed basic things like drinks, napkins, or clean utensils. When our server clocked out, he said someone else would take over. No one did--for 20 minutes. We had to chase someone down just to keep the experience going. On top of the poor service, the floors were filthy and the bathrooms weren't any better. For a brand with such a strong reputation, this location was a huge letdown. The whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths, and not because of the food. read more
